Karzai hails the death of Zarqawi
Afghan President Hamid Karzai says the death of Abu Musab
al-Zarqawi, the al-Qaeda leader in Iraq, is a "severe blow"
to global terrorism.
Mr Karzai said Zarqawi had been responsible for the deaths
of thousands of Muslims in Iraq and Afghanistan.
The US military says Zarqawi was killed in an air raid north
of the town of Baquba on Wednesday evening.
Zarqawi spent time with the Taleban in Afghanistan and from
Iraq supported their fight against US-led forces.
'Common fight'
Zarqawi's death is "a significant step in ridding the world
of the menace of terrorism," Mr Karzai said in a statement
issued on Thursday.
"This success should encourage us all, both in the Muslim
world and beyond, to continue and step up our common fight
against terrorism."
Zarqawi spent some time in Afghanistan fighting against
Soviet forces.
He returned to Afghanistan for a longer spell when the
Taleban were in control of the country. He left after the
US-led invasion in 2001.
"Zarqawi and his terrorist organisation were responsible for
the killing of thousands of Muslims in Iraq and in
Afghanistan," Mr Karzai said.
Zarqawi continued to play a role offering support to
militants in Afghanistan fighting US and other foreign
forces in the country.
Correspondents say it is not clear what impact news of
Zarqawi's death will have on his allies in Afghanistan.

Why Do We Have To Be Healthy?
PART 2 of 5
Being a nurse and an OR nurse at that, I never gave
this question any thought. I dealt with people who had
problems all day long. I saw them before the surgery
with their families and afterwards to check on them. In
between we worked to correct their problem. My world
was made up of sick people. My environment was isolated
and controlled. I thought I did a really good job. I
was certainly very busy, but we all get a wake up call.
Mine happened when my management position was
eliminated and I found myself on the outside of this
very isolated and controlled environment…and had some
difficulty adjusting to the changes that presented
themselves. Now I faced healthy people, but with a
mindset that still needed to talk about illnesses and
how to deal with them. I taught about heart health…or
unhealth as it would be. I taught about cholesterol
management. I taught people how to look for diabetic
symptoms and what might keep them at bay. I measured
everything I could: blood pressures, glucose (blood
sugar), and cholesterol. I taught about cancer and
women’s health...I taught about men’s health, although
these clinics were so sparsely attended I felt I really
shouldn’t be paid! I taught a lot of things, but I
don’t think I realty taught about “health.”
I took health for granted, never sparing a thought for
its presence or absence. I took it for granted in
myself and for others. As I grew older and hopefully
wiser, I still paid little attention to it. I merely
thought it was inevitable that my family and I would
eventually come down with any one of the major illness
groups and spend our last days in discomfort. I didn’t
realise I had a choice. My colleagues and I all spoke
the same language. I wonder if any of them knew more
and didn’t share this information…

I see another Al-queda leader was killed. I am not surprised
that the world's leaders have all issued statements
applauding the situation. This man was responsible for the
death and maiming of thousands of his countrymen.
I guess the chickens you send out do come home to roost,
don't they? This is nothing more and nothing less than the
law in action. As ye sow, so shall ye reap.
Think not death as a bad thing, however. What this man did
that was worse was to create terror in the hearts of
thousands, maimed thousands more, and disrupted the peace
the people want.
On another note, I see the U.S. now want the fines for
swearing on radio or television to be ten times more. The
fines were $32,500 per time and they will now become
$325.000.
Man is trying to change our Maker's law into As ye swear, so
shall you pay the U.S. Treasury.

Canard: Why do we call a lie a "canard"
"Canard" is the French word for "duck". And the story is
told that a Frenchman named Cornelisson set out to prove the
gullibility of people. He therefore reported that he had had
20 ducks but had cut up one of these and fed it to those
left. He then cut up a second duck and fed it to those left.
Then a third, and so on - until ultimately he had cut up
nineteen - and all had been eaten. The story of the 20th
duck that had eaten 19 others was repeated and gave this
special meaning to the word "canard".
