computer at Harvard malfunctioned and a woman investigated
and found a moth in one of the circuits. She removed it.
Ever since, when something goes wrong with a computer, it is
said to have a bug in it.
Where did the expression "son of a gun" originate?
"Son of a gun" has its origins with sailors. When a ship was
in port for an extended period of time, wives and other
women were permitted to live on board with the ship's crew.
Occasionally, children would be born on board and a
convenient place for the birth to happen was between guns on
the gun deck. If the child's father was unknown, the child
was entered in the ship's log as "son of a gun."

See It Right!
A woman came home to find her husband in the kitchen,
shaking frantically with what looked like a wire running
from his waist towards the electric kettle. Intending to
jolt him away from the deadly current she whacked him with a
handy plank of wood by the back door, breaking his arm in
two places. Until that moment he had been happily listening
to his Walkman.
Wow! Now we need a warning label on walkmans. "Wife might
attack. Wear with caution."
The joke is humorous, and oh, so likely to happen under the
right circumstances.
It points out the need for us to analyze what we see. Too
often we react to what we see only to find our
interpretation was wrong.
It is a common practice for mankind to respond to what he
thinks he sees, without taking the time to correctly analyze
the situation.
It is especially true with regards to our objectives. When
working hard to reach a financial objective we too often get
confused by what we think we see. A promotion we thought
should be ours goes to someone else and we are disappointed.
Little did we know the boss knew a more senior position was
opening in three months and he had you picked for it. Yet,
if you got mad, or sulky, and started to react to what you
think you saw you may completely forfeit the better future
that awaits you.
I have no idea how many times I have incorrectly reacted.
Many times in my past I have taken a stance when someone has
said or done something only to find I was wrong. I don't
much like eating humble pie. Fortunately I learned early to
watch and wait. It has proven to be a much more fruitful way
to progress.
It will for you, too. Be calm, watch, look, listen. Watch
the reaction of others. In the calm you will be surprised at
some truths that reveal themselves.
Stop and consider what I have found to be true in my life. I
have never been pleased when life took a turn I did not want
or like, however, when I really looked I always - - -
ALWAYS - - - found greater benefits awaited me.

A Few Basic Essentials To Keep In Mind
PART 1 of 12
Do you know what each process means? Do you know when
to use each process? Do you know how to use related
products safely? Disinfection, sterilization and
cleaning are terms that are frequently used
incorrectly. Knowing how each process works may keep
you safe and healthy. Please use this information as an
educational resource only. If you would like to learn
more, please seek out qualified professionals. There is
much misinformation around. And as things in the health
care field changing very rapidly, it is difficult to
keep up with current knowledge.
These terms have specific meanings. Each needs to be
understood, used properly and used with caution.
Because our lives as so fast paced now, we seek instant
results. Sometimes we use what we think are appropriate
measures, where in fact we are setting ourselves up for
possible long term problems. Therefore I want to
discuss cleaning, disinfection and sterilization in a
several ways: what the term means, how and when to use
the processes. I will include some precautions.

More fun and games out there today. The press is having a
field day with Microsoft's spyware. It seems that Microsoft
wanted to have this "Windows Genuine Advantage" software on
every machine possible, so instead of telling people what it
really is they moved it out as a "must have (high priority)
security package"
People never learn, do they? Fraud at any level will always
be found out sooner or later. Often the backlash is greater
than any advantage was in the first place. Just ask Sony how
it feels to be on the receiving end of that kind of
public wrath.
Microsoft is paranoid about people using "borrowed" or
"pirated" Windows software. They feel they aren't getting
enough money and have a legitimate case in its efforts to
stop people from stealing. So they created this software
that checks in with Microsoft every time you boot up and
tells Microsoft all it wants to know without your knowledge.
I don't know about you but I can see some universal control
things going on here. Microsoft should be immediately placed
into a condition where it is to apologize and where it is to
remove this software feature. This kind of thing, under the
leadership of Steve Ballmer, Microsoft's CEO, could easily
get out of hand.
In another matter the province of Alberta in Canada has
banned iPods in final examinations. It seems that too many
students have recorded "answers" on their iPods and taken
them into examination rooms. The iPod is the latest in a
series of electronic devices that are no longer permitted
when taking provincial examinations.
Mt. Merapi is once more spewing out clouds of hot gas and
ash. This volcano will one day blow and there will be
another natural disaster in that area.
And the last piece of news, Jerry Lewis, the long time
comedian and once partner with Dean Martin, has had a heart
attack at age 80. He is said to be recovering and all is
well.
