What exactly does "equinox" mean?
"Equinox" comes from a Latin word meaning "equal night."
What is "Nushu"?
Nushu is a fascinating women's-only writing system in China,
a "secret code" that allowed women for centuries to express
their thoughts and frustrations to one another in a
male-dominated society. Created and used exclusively by
women in a remote area of China, Nushu characters are partly
taken from Chinese and partly invented. Even the characters
that are Chinese, however, are rendered in curving, tilted
lines that are very different from regular Chinese writing.
Frequently, the characters were embroidered on fabric. It
was the custom for a long time to burn Nushu texts on wisdom
on a woman's funeral pyre. The writing would comfort her in
the next world, as it had in this one.

A young boy called the pastor of a local "corner" church
to ask the pastor to come by to pray for his mother who
had been very ill with the flu. The pastor knew the family
and was aware they had been attending another church
down the road. So the pastor asked, "Shouldn't you be
asking Brother Simon down the road to come by to pray
with your mom?"
The young boy replied, "Yeah, but we didn't want to take
the chance that he might catch whatever it is that Mom
has."
We try to teach our children to tell the truth. We should
also try to teach them diplomacy.
A statement like the one above may well be the truth but,
ouch, it can hurt.
We all know it is innocent. Yet we must be careful in
our communications. The slightest little thing can be taken
deeply into the psyche of another and remain there to
cause hurt for a long time.
I know you know this, What concerns me though are the
little things that slip out when we think a person isn't
listening, the gossip that happens around the water
cooler or the coffee machine.
It is always much better to have a standing policy that if
you cannot say anything nice, then say nothing at all. That
way you won't get caught.
One thing very bad about gossip is that the motivation that
permits it also leads you further and deeper into the
quagmire. It is a disgusting disease that can do much harm.
Yet the one it really harms is the one delivering it. The law
says that "As ye sow, so shall ye reap." All you need do to
check up on yourself is ask the question "Would I like others
talking about me this way?"
We should recall there is always a possibility, too,
that what we say in speech also shows up in our writing.
As a consequence we might well be harming out own
business chances. Watch the nuances, the hidden
meanings. Make no assumptions that all is correct. Think
about it being correct. Question your words, written or
oral, from this point of view.
Doing this will usually help you find some things you
can clean up. It is always a worthy endeavor.

A Few Basic Essentials To Keep In Mind

When we talk about disinfection of “something”, we
usually mean an inanimate object such as scissors or
thermometer or basin. But there are times when we use
the term in relation to a human being. We then call the
product we use then is called an antiseptic. And it
means that we are using something against the
possibility of germs causing an infection (sepsis) and
as a prevention of further problems for a few hours
after the application.
I won’t go into the different household chemical
cleaners and cleansers. They are liquids or powders
that have bleach or some other active ingredient. Some
come as pure disinfects without any cleaning agents.
Others come as combinations. These should be adequate
for normal household use. If for some reason you need a
higher degree of cleanliness, your health care provider
will help you choose the right product. Don’t get
caught up in the virus versus bacteria scare. Viruses
are easier to kill than bacteria. And of course the
best defence is a healthy immune system for everyone in
the family.

I guess some people just have to bitch and gripe to make
themselves think they are a somebody. Except, if you live in
Iraq and you want to be heard then you have to go out and
kill someone. Bitching and bellyaching in Iraq has been
taken to the worst possible extremes.
Can you imagine, they are killing off Saddam Hussein's
defence lawyers. In the past there had been two killed and
just yesterday another was found dead. He had been kidnapped
from his home and shot.
For my part, I can't understand the mentality of people who
would do that. Here you are trying to form a government
based on law, one that will give the same treatement to all
citizens, even the worst offenders, and yet they don't seem
to want it. They would rather fight, kill, maim and
otherwise create a condition of untold fear in all
citizens. What kind of people are these people?
The trial is now over. They will hear the defence's closing
arguments and then recess to make decisions. Even if Hussein
is found not guilty there are so many other charges against
him he will never again be free. Prosecutors are, of course,
seeking the death penalty.
In regards to defence lawyers, they were offered protection,
just like the sitting judge and the prosecuting attorneys.
However, they felt they would not require such protection.
When I look at the law, "As ye sow, so shall ye reap." I
feel sorry for those who are foolish enough to permit their
emotions to do their thinking for them, rather than pursue
life with good clear thinking. Our Maker's laws will find
you wherever you are and however you use them.
