What is "heterochromia iridis"?

It's a condition where a person can have several
different colors in just one iris.

Is it true the US twenty dollar bill will soon be colorful?

Yes. The greenback will soon be peach, pale blue, yellow,
and copper, in addition to green. The new bill, unveiled
last month, is designed to make it even harder to
counterfeit. You'll be able to see the new bill when it's
issued this fall.

TITLE ARTICLE - - -

You Have to Choose Between only
Three Strategic Options ?.
by Mark Munday

Ultimately, you have to settle for one of three business
strategy options. And it is important that you are clear
on what one you are going for.

Your business strategy choices are, at the end of the
day, very simple. The big question is, how do you want
to position yourself in relation to your competition.
Basically your options are :

1. To be the cheapest
2. To be the best
3. To dominate a market niche

Many small businesses go for the first option, in the
mistaken belief that it is only way to survive. The problem
is, there will always be someone who can do what you
do, more cheaply than you can.

A cost leadership strategy is only really suitable for big
businesses. Businesses that have substantial economies
of scale. They are able to spread their overheads thinly
over large volumes, and charge low unit prices. So if you
are running a small business, this strategy probably
won?t work for you.

If, as a small business, you build your business reputation
on being the cheapest, you are operating from a position of
weakness. Even if you can survive with your low prices, you
will not be able to withstand a price war with a bigger
competitor. So why take the risk?

The second strategy, being the best, can be used to build
a powerful competitive advantage. It means, however, that
you have to have a unique product. Otherwise, you will
have to spend a lot of money on R&D to stay ahead of
the competition.

You need deep pockets to win with this strategy. Unless,
of course, your product is so specialized that no one else
is producing it. And big companies, for whatever reasons,
don?t want to produce it either. That would give you
dominance over a niche of your own.

But generally speaking, a product leadership strategy is only
for the big boys. Like, Nokia, Sony and Mercedes Benz. While
being the best in a category, and staying that way, can be a
powerful strategy for highly specialized small businesses,
it is just not sustainable for most. Which brings us to our
third option.

Dominating a market niche in your industry. It is the most
suitable business strategy for most small businesses. By
adding value in a way that attracts a particular kind of
customer, you can steadily build your business success.
You are able to charge a premium. And you don?t have
to be the ?best?.

The trick, of course is to clearly identify your niche market,
and convince your target market that you provide the best
solution to their problem. For nearly all businesses, finding
a niche and dominating it provides a solid foundation for
building a business on.

It is very important that you are absolutely clear on what
generic strategy you are relying on. Your business strategy,
by definition, is supported by a number of strategic tactics.
Whether you are aware of using them or not.

If you aren?t clear about your overall strategic direction,
you may end up using conflicting strategies. For example,
focusing customers on your low prices at the same time as
you introduce best of class products. Doing this means that
your profitability suffers and you fail to attract the customers
you want : not good!

Deciding on the generic strategy that will create the business
success you are looking for, clarifies your thinking. And it
helps you see clearly what tactics you need to use.

COMPUTER TIPS - - -
-------------------------

Computer Clock

Is your computer clock losing Time?

Sounds like your battery is getting low. Better
get into your computer and replace it!

The battery is located on the motherboard. It
will be about the size of a nickel, and be held in by
a small clip. You can easily replace it. Check your
computer manual.

In addition to the clock, the battery powers the
CMOS chip and BIOS settings. You'll see a reference
to these settings when you boot up. It will say
something like, "To enter Setup, press Delete."

The settings tell the computer what equipment is
present, and how it interacts. When the battery goes
dead, the settings are lost and your computer
is in trouble.

I think you should change the battery every
few years, just to be safe. To protect yourself,
print out the BIOS settings. Go into Setup and
press Print Screen. The settings have to be reset
after a battery change,and you'll need that
information.

Health Question About
Fibromyalgia & Arthritis
PART 4 of 5

HEALTH QUESTION: Hi there, I have a question. I had an x-ray
confirming I have "degenerative lippings" in my neck. Is this
Osteoarthritis? I am 32, what can I expect to happen in the
future as I age?
(1) Will this cripple me?
(2) I also have fibromyalgia.... which is painful, but at least it isn't
degenerative!
(3) Any help you can offer in answering my questions is greatly
appreciated... as I have searched a bunch of different websites,
but none actually specify what "degenerative" lippings are.
(4) Since I have had the Fibromyalgia in my upper back, I have the
degenerative lippings, I have had constant "bloatedness"
(5) I now have a sluggish bowel, occasional swelling of my
leg calves, eyes sore & swollen, jaw aches, inflamation in
my shoulders, neck & upper back. I never sleep well, wake
sore and unrefreshed. I feel like I am 90
(6)! Thanks so much for you're time.

Our reader also doesn't mention anything about medications.
Physicians typically place these types of patients on a
non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug for pain, medication for
sleep, perhaps a muscle relaxant and anti-depressant. What is
even more disconcerting is the frequency with which these
patients are being treated with narcotic pain medication. Now,
they not only have a horrible disease but are also vulnerable to
becoming addicted to their narcotic pain medication. Our reader
didn't say if they were prescribed any of this kind of
medication. You, as the present reader, MUST consider the side
effects, interactions, and long-term effects of all drugs.

(5)Abdominal bloating is a condition in which the abdomen feels
full and tight -- usually caused by excessive intestinal gas.
This could be a result of the intestinal involvement or the
medications.

Drugs/medications are chemicals and are not normally produced by
your body. They will have an effect...the desired one as well as
an undesired one.

So the degeneration aspect is pretty clear. Our environment,
lifestyle, and diet factors seem to be continually eroding our
health. One of the most significant findings through research has been
the value of antioxidants in "neutralizing the negative effect
of free radicals" in the human body. Free radicals are believed
to be the cause of many degenerative diseases through oxidative
stress activity. And this seems to be evolving from a variety of
factors including pollution, high-fat diets, exercise, and
smoking.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.

Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.

The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.

The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

"Hello you guys. We were just talking about you. Welcome
to our home Billy. Let me show you your room." said Alewka
as the boys came in.

Billy was stunned. How did she know what was happening?

Alewka leaned toward his ear and whispered, "Don't worry,
Billy, I know what my boys were thinking. We can read each
other's minds. I know you think this is weird, but the truth is,
if you relax a little, you will enjoy it here. Trust just this one
more time Billy and all will be well."

She put her arm around Billy as with a Mother's love. A
feeling of love filled Billy completely, from his toes to the top
of his head. He knew he was accepted here. He couldn't
stop the tears from coming into his eyes. Could this be true?
Could it really be that he found a place where he was loved?

Alewka showed him his room. It is the one Eloise used to
use. It had pretty much remained unused since Eloise left
and was married. Billy, sat on the bed, from a height. He
bounced a little, but ran his hands over the clean bedding.

Everything smelled different here, clean. It was not at all
like what he had come from. When he touched something
it was free of dust and dirt and it felt as if it was recently
washed.

Everything looked different too. All was arranged, neat and
orderly. It was as if he had fallen into a land he did not
understand. Tidiness and orderliness was not part of his
training up to now.

"Billy, there will be some learning here. You will pick up
new habits and new ways of doing things. I notice you
observing how the room is neat, clean and tidy. That is
how we do things here, Billy. It saves us time and allows
us to have more time to do the things we want. By the way
all of us in this house share the housekeeping chores.
Come, look at the boys room. It is just as clean and orderly
as this room." Alewka took Billy to see Tim and Tom's room.

"What you will learn in this house, Billy, is that to look
after things is the least expensive way to do things. There
is less waste, things work better and last longer. When you
throw clothes on the floor they get dirty, get stepped on,
torn, crumpled, and before you know it they aren't any
good anymore. Now, if you fold them and put them on a
chair, or hang them up in the closet, or put things away,
neatly in a drawer, they are there for you the next time
you want them." Alewka was trying to explain the need
for Billy to change his habits.

"I probably won't stay here for very long, so I won't have
to worry about those things." said Billy.

"Oh, but you will, Billy. I am not asking you to do these things
for my sake. It is to make your life easier, better, more
organized and richer. The more orderly you are, the easier
life becomes, Billy. And it is not hard to do. I'll tell you what.
Will you work with me on this? If you decide you want to
move out later, that is fine. You are under no obligation to
remain here. But while you are here will you do some of
these things for me, just this day?" asked Alewka.

"I am not sure what you mean Mrs. Henry." said Billy.

"Well, let's not worry about tomorrow. I'm asking if, when
you go to bed tonight, will you fold your pants and put them
on that chair, instead of throwing them on the floor? And
would you lay your shirt over the back of the chair, instead
of throwing it on the floor? Then you can put your shoes
under the chair, and your socks in them. If you sleep in the
nude you can put your shorts on the chair and if not you'll
be wearing them. How is that. That is all I ask of you today.
Will you do that for me?" asked Alewka.

"You bet, Mrs. Henry. That isn't hard. Thank you and
Mr. Henry for taking me in like this tonight. Tim and Tom
showed up at a bad time." said Billy.

"Billy, in all of life you will find that when one door closes
another opens. Just when things look their worst, you
will walk into something so much better it will be hard to
believe. You are welcome to stay here as long as you want,
Billy, no strings attached. We want you to enjoy your life
here, so if you work with us a little we will all be happy.
How's that?" asked Alewka.

"That sounds okay, I guess. I will try." said Billy.

Billy knew he could not refuse this woman. She accepted
him as he was. He knew he would do anything for her.

He found it funny. He had heard about "the Henrys" from
kids in school. He had always heard they were strange,
had magic powers and that he should stay away from them,
or else they would hurt him. Yet here he was and they
were the most loving people he had ever met in his short
life. He wondered where life would take him from here.

It is a way of seeing some of the good things and not so good

Today I am involved with more planning. An opportunity

It appears good things happen to those who just keep going,
at least that is how this opportunity came up. So I, too, must
follow the lessons I talk about all day long. Good stuff.

"The secret of health for both mind and body is not to

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

HA! HA! HA!

Years ago, when our daughters were very young,
we'd drop them off at our church's children's chapel
on Sundays before the eleven o'clock service.

One Sunday, just as I was about to open the door
to the small chapel, the minister came rushing up in
full vestments. He said he had an emergency and
asked if I'd speak to the children at their story time.
He said the subject was the Twenty-third Psalm.

But just as I was about to get up from the back row
and talk about the good shepherd, the minister burst
into the room and signaled to me that he would be
able to do the story time after all.

He told the children about sheep, that they weren't
smart and needed lots of guidance, and that a
shepherd's job was to stay close to the sheep,
protect them from wild animals and keep them
from wandering off and doing dumb things that
would get them hurt or killed.

He pointed to the little children in the room and
said that they were the sheep and needed lots
of guidance.

Then the minister put his hands out to the side,
palms up in a dramatic gesture, and with raised
eyebrows said to the children, "If you are the
sheep then who is the shepherd?" He was pretty
obviously indicating himself.

A silence of a few seconds followed. Then a young
visitor said, " Jesus, Jesus is the shepherd."

The young minister, obviously caught by surprise,
said to the boy, "Well, then, who am I?"

The little boy frowned thoughtfully and then said
with a shrug, "I guess you must be a sheep dog."
