What bad thing can happen if you're bitten by a vampire bat?
Don't worry about turning into a vampire. But you SHOULD
worry about rabies.
How does a horny toad defend itself?
This creature, which is really a lizard and not a toad, has a
unique defense: it will squirt a stream of blood at its attacker
from its eyes.

---------------------
Do You Demonstrate Simplicity?
Do you feel the calmness of a deep breath when you say
or hear the word, "simplicity"? Does it conjure up
space, serenity, peace and other desirable things?
What would it take to bring simplicity into
your values?
This world is working hard to make things bigger,
faster, newer, complex, convoluted, urgent, anxious and
fearful. You have probably noticed that. At the end of
a too full day you can feel as though you have been
accelerated through a time machine without your
consent, can't you? The important part, of course, is
to notice that you did give your consent, otherwise
you would not have done it. This is a beginning
realization of your part in creating simplicity.
Sarah Ban Breathnach, author of Simple Abundance says,
" True simplicity is both buoyant and bountiful, able
to liberate depressed spirits from the bondage and
burden of extravagance and excess." If there are
things weighing you down or rituals or practices that
hold you back, it may be time to consider lightening
up.
Is there simplicity in your home? Is there space
around things for the air to circulate, or, are pieces
of furniture and "things" packed tightly together? Are
surfaces clear and spacious? Does every "thing" have a
designated spot? Does clutter get taken care of
immediately before it becomes an art form? The
dictionary says clutter is a crowded or confused
mass or collection, and that, "to clutter" means to
fill or cover with scattered or disordered things that
impede movement or reduce effectiveness. That says it
all, doesn't it? If you have clutter, you are getting
in your own way.
Recently, we moved and my husband and I reduced the
things in our lives significantly. We used a three
part rule--if a thing was beautiful, functional or
memorable, it could stay. This rule had a second part:
if the things that were kept had not been appreciated,
used or held within the next year, they had to leave
then. Hopefully, this was a great step toward
simplicity.
For today, survey your surroundings--your home, your
room, your office...or even just one drawer. Can you
simplify it in any way? Extend this practice as you
have time and inclination. It will move you towards a
deeper sense of peace and tranquility.

Bones: Dont Take Your Support
System For Granted
PART 9 of 9
Feed it well. Eliminate unnecessary toxins or non
productive foods. Avoid any type of dieting while you
are healing. Your body needs all the healthy, adequate,
and proper nutrients it can find. Put aside any foods
that do not promote health and healing. Opt for water,
milk, and real juices. Eliminate empty calories as
found in soft drinks and snacks. Restore needed calcium
through proper foods. Makes sure any supplements you
use are able to assimilate with your nutritional
intake. Seriously consider supplementing with a high
quality vitamin & mineral product that promotes optimum
amounts. If you dont restore the calcium, other body
functions may be at risk, but be aware of that an
over-abundance in one nutrient may cause an
under-abundance in another. This may be the time to
start studying nutrition seriously.
If you go back and look at the way your body stays
healthy, you will know how to care for it. Once the
feeding and care of your body is set in motion, you can
expect the normal functions to be able to resume
eventually. There is a lot to be done to keep your
bones healthy or get your life back to normal. As you
have read through this information, I hope you noticed
that never once was anyone but you implied as your
body's master for health or healing. This is your body.
These are your bones. You have the power of keeping
them healthy or restoring them to health if something
goes wrong. Prepare now to be healthy and live a long
and relaxed and happy lifestyle. You are in charge of
you. Your bones depend on you and you depend on your
bones.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET
<><><><>
THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

"Oh, Ben. You're just like everyone else you
ask a dozen questions at once. And, you know the
answers to all of them you big goof!" Alewka was
teasing him. Ben was a good friend. He and his
wife Helen had also decided to eat out. Ben had
just been laughing at a story the man from the
table next to his had told him. Being the former
Chief of Police, Ben was known by every one in
town. They all talked to him.
"Hi Helen. How are you today?"
"I'm fine you two. Hi Eloise. It's good to
have you come visit us northerners. Things are
fine, I trust?"
"All is well, Helen, thank you."
"Here you two. Sit down. Gee it's nice to see
you. Eloise, I haven't seen you up here in so long
you are a pleasant surprise. What would you two
like to eat?"
"The last time I was here was when I met Mr.
Gladstone. Then I had a milk shake. They haven't
changed the place at all in that time. That's over
ten years, and it still looks the same. Is it
still the kids favorite haunt?"
"You bet it is, Eloise. They've painted the
place once or twice, and they have changed out
some tables but it remains much the same. There is
a new place coming to town. I think the owner here
is planning a major renovation in hopes of keeping
the business. A restaurant is a hard place to
renovate. You nearly have to close down in
order to do it. They think, here, they might be
able to get away with shutting down just half at a
time."
"So Alewka, you sent the men out to the lake?"
"Yes, Helen. That's a terrific place for the
kids and neither of the men mind looking after
them, including the meals. What with higher law
none of that is the work it is otherwise. I just
hope they don't run into trouble with our
neighbor."
"What do you mean?
"The cabin next to ours, on the west side, was
sold last year. The man in the family is
alcoholic. There's nothing but trouble all the
time. We hear them fighting ferociously, in front
of the kids and all. It's too bad really. A social
drink once or twice a week may be okay but beyond
that it soon gets to be trouble. And the problem
is the one who is doing the drinking doesn't want
to see the trouble they cause. If they just lived
a lone that may work out, but when others live
with them they destroy lives, big time."
"I know, Alewka. I've been on the police force
too long not to see the destruction, the waste,
the cost of drinking. It causes so much trouble
you would think those doing the drinking would ask
themselves "Why are people fighting with me all
the time? You would think they would smarten up,
and stop. It's like this, if those around you,
whom you purport to love, are hurting emotionally,
financially or in any other way because of your
drinking then stop. Unfortunately some never stop
until they have lost everything, their job, their
family, their homes, everything. You would think
people would know that anything past a social
drink once or twice a week is when the bottle has
you as it's slave."
"I can't understand why people do that Ben,"
Alewka had never had that problem so it was
removed from her, "I won't even touch liquor, not
because I think it bad but because there is so
much joy within my mind and body and in the
things I can do, that I don't want to take
anything that would encroach on that."
"What about your neighbors wife, Mom? What
does she do about it?
"El, there is nothing she can do about it. She
gets so mad and so hurt by her husband she usually
ends up fighting. Then money is an issue. They
have none left for the things they need in life.
He ends up spending so much on drinking it costs
the rest of the family. A bottle a day is $600 or
more each month. That's a lot of money. If one
isn't working where do they expect that money to
come from, and would it not be much better for the
family if that money went to other things? One who
drinks to the detriment of the family is pretty
selfish. They don't think so but they are. I feel
sorry for the kids. It makes for a terrible home
life."
"It's good Maz and Dad took the kids out
there. I want them to see what happens when man
lets the "genie in the bottle" get hold of him. I
want them to see the life others lead when they
are not committed to higher law. I even want them
to come back into town as see the lives men lead
here, when they are not committed to higher law. I
want them to see and experience as much as they
can, so that when they get back home they will
have an understanding of life in man's world. Life
in the village is so protected that now they have
no idea of the troubles in the world."

HA! HA! HA!
While working on a lesson in world religions, a kindergarten
teacher asked her students to bring something related to their
family's faith to class.
At the appropriate time she asked the students to come
forward and share with the rest of the students.
The first child said, "I am Muslim and this is my prayer rug."
The second child said, "I am Jewish and this is my Star of David."
The third child said, "I am Catholic and this is my rosary."
The final child said, "I am Southern Baptist and this is my
casserole dish."
