How do seedless watermelons reproduce if they have no seeds?

Does watermelon provide vitamin C?

Who invented the Rubik's Cube?

The Rubik's Cube was the bane of my high school days in the
eighties. As much as I love puzzles, I never enjoyed the
Rubik's Cube! The frustratingly difficult game, a square of
27 subcubes rotating horizontally and vertically that needed
to be aligned according to color, was invented by Erno
Rubik, a teacher of architecture and design from Budapest.

How many seeds does the average watermelon have?

If it seems like all you do when you eat the traditional
watermelon is spit out seeds, you're right: the average
traditional watermelon can have as many as a thousand seeds!

Researcher Finds Anti-Smoking Ads Freak Kids Out
by Erik Sass

A NEW STUDY FROM A professor at the University of Missouri
at Columbia's School of Journalism proves, with
physiological evidence, that adolescents (defined as ages
12-14) respond much more emotionally than 22-
to-24-year-olds to graphic depictions of the harm done to
the human body by smoking. The results, according to a press
release, "may lead to recommendations for the design of more
effective messages promoting health behavior."

The study, carried out by University of Missouri-Columbia
School of Journalism Professor Paul Bolls through the
school's Psychological Research on Information and Media
Effects Lab, involved affixing electrodes to the faces of
viewers from both age groups to measure "negative emotional
reaction" as they were shown anti-smoking commercials
depicting various levels of bodily harm, including organ
damage caused by smoking.

At the same time, a heart monitor measured heart rate to
approximate the amount of mental effort required for viewers
to understand the message behind the threatening images. A
lowered heart rate indicates greater concentration and
focus. Images that caused both a large negative emotional
reaction and a high level of mental activity to understand
the threat were considered most effective.

According to Bolls, "these more intense emotional reactions
by adolescents can be due to less developed pathways in
their brain for regulating emotional response." Bolls said
this may mean that health messages should be reengineered to
inspire more fear, and directed more accurately at younger
viewers.

It's unclear whether the University of Missouri study has
any implications for mainstream children's advertising. As
big brands like Kellogg's are taken to task for marketing
unhealthy food by inducing positive emotional reactions in
children, few companies are likely to find much reason to
try to inspire terror in adolescents. However, health
advocacy groups pursuing healthier eating habits in young
people may find the study provides valuable tools for
crafting creative messages.

The Relationship of Oral Health to Overall
Health and Longevity
by Tom McGuire, D.D.S.
PART 21 of 31

Yet, not everyone with amalgam fillings shows signs or
has obvious symptoms of mercury toxicity. Mostly, this
is related to the number of fillings, the length of
time the fillings have been in the mouth, the health of
the individual, and the body’s ability to naturally rid
itself of mercury. I believe that if you now have—even
if you haven’t yet shown any symptoms of chronic
mercury poisoning—the chances are very good that more
and more mercury is being stored in your body. There is
no doubt in my mind that chronic mercury poisoning can
be the most important oral health issue to consider
when treating any health problem. Of course, there are
hundreds of millions of people who have both mercury
amalgam fillings and gum disease; the combination of
which could dramatically weaken the body’s ability to
deal effectively deal with all other health issues.

Sources There are many sources of mercury exposure,
including food (mostly mercury contaminated fish), air,
water, cosmetics, medications, and industrial
occupations. However, according to the World Health
Organization, the single biggest contributor of mercury
to the body is amalgam fillings.

Symptoms A wide variety of symptoms are related to
mercury toxicity. Because mercury can be stored in
virtually every cell, organ, and tissue (particularly
the brain, kidneys, and central nervous system) of the
body, its range of symptoms are vast. Of course, other
health issues could contribute to these symptoms, or
even cause them; clearly, no single symptom is specific
to mercury poisoning. But it is also important to
realize that mercury related symptoms are directly
proportionate to the number of fillings you have and
the length of time they have been in the teeth.
Although this is a long list, I feel it important to
include it here. You can use this as a checklist (see
Figure 1) when determining whether or not you may have
mercury related symptoms. (The symptoms listed are
those commonly related to the direct effects of chronic
mercury poisoning. Because of its secondary effects
this list could be much longer.)

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to

Throughout the conference the entire subject was how
they were going to carry out the cardinal's request. They
nearly all spoke to the bishop and his priests, plus
workshops on all manner of topics related to causing their
parishes to be a fruitful as was the bishops.

Nearly all thought the idea was terrific, that it was
making the church once more proactive and, indeed, serving
the communities in which they were situated.

None gave a thought to whether their congregations could
tolerate this increased intrusion by the church. The church,
of course, not only thought this was good for the people,
they knew full well they could put the people on guilt trips
in order to get them to increase attendance and giving. The
church people never looked at it as causing guilt trips.
They looked upon it as bringing their people closer to God
and all things, even murder, had been justified that way.
There was no question in the mind of the church or the
priests who enforced the doctrine, that they were one
hundred percent correct and undeniably the unquestionable
authority on that point.

So the conference was going as the cardinal expected.
The feedback he was getting was that his program was
unbelievably successful. Even he was getting excited over
what he thought his future was going to be. He had all sorts
of images floating through his mind, most of which somehow
included an audience with the Pope wherein he was mightily
congratulated.

The last day of the congress was at hand. The cardinal
was not wholly satisfied with his speech, but he had run out
of time to create any improvements. He and his staff had
labored over this speech for everyday of the congress.

It was the cardinal's closing address. He had been
introduced and was on his way to the podium.

Raising his hands above his head, palms outward and
slightly moved forward as if controlling the air space above
all the attendees heads, and offering a blessing, he began.

"Blessed be the name of the Lord. We have had a
fruitful congress and I am looking forward to your renewed
enthusiasm. Go forth and multiply. Renew your churches. Make
the church the center point of the lives of all your
parishioners. It is our duty.

During this conference you have each had plenty of
time to . . .

David and Pam had actually been at the congress,
invisible, all the while it was held. They knew the intimate
thoughts of each participant.

David had a talk with Sam Henry a while back about
this issue. Sam gave him some suggestions on how to handle
the matter.

At this point David revealed himself. He was dressed
in white robes, caused his aura to stand out from him a good
ten feet in all directions, and caused it to shine visibly.
He was hovering over the front of the auditorium, above the
cardinal and he was broadcasting love, powerfully.

Pam was doing the same thing from the rear of the
auditorium.

Every person at the congress felt the love they
broadcast, even if a person was not in the auditorium.

A hush fell upon the place. Even the cardinal was in
awe of the "angels" hovering over the crowd.

"Know ye I am much pleased with your desire to serve
the people. Know ye that ye shall be known by your actions.
Take the message of your beloved Lord as he gave it in
Matthew Ch 6: 19 to 34 and in Matthew Ch 21: 21 and 22.
These are the messages your Lord wanted delivered to all
mankind and now the task falls upon you.

Blessed be each one of you for your message shall
serve the people. This day each of you shall be empowered to
teach that message alone and that with strength and power.
It shall stand alone and you shall each teach it wherever
you are. In this you shall be empowered with love and you
shall reach the people. Know this and go from here stronger
and renewed in the message you wish to deliver."

David spread his arms and a visible white light
spread over the audience. Each person was powerfully struck.
David's words had reached the heart, mind and soul of each
person.

"Teach each person that the great commandment is to
love the Lord your God with all you heart, with all your
mind and with all your soul. Show the people the truth, the
depth and the power of the law 'As ye sow, so shall ye
reap', and cause them to practice all the time. These things
ye shall teach and ye shall bear fruit."

Quietly, gently and slowly David and Pam disappeared
from view.

The audience was dumbfounded, in awe, speechless.
That included the cardinal. All were quiet for over ten
minutes.

Finally, the cardinal came to his senses. "We have
been blessed by a visit from heaven. We have had our work
blessed and we shall be a power in teaching the people. Go
forth from this place and do as the angel said. Spend time
in prayer and teach the message for that is the one that
will reach the people. Praise be the Lord for he has given
us a sign. Blessed be the name of the Lord."

The audience to a person said "And you your
eminence."

From that point there was much talking about the
miracle that had happened. The conversation was non stop and
enthusiastic. They carried on with renewed spirit and with a
desire to serve their Lord. They would, each, teach what
they had been shown to teach. This message somehow made
sense and did not appear to have any ulterior motive behind
it. There was no agenda save serve the people. That rang a
chord in the heart of every participant at the congress.

David and Pam hovered above the crowd and watched.
They wanted to see the reaction of the group and especially
the cardinal.

WHY DO WE SAY IT?

A-1. Why do we use "A-1" to mean "the very best"?

Because when the Marine insurance firms of London started
the association later to become known as "Lloyds," they also
started a register of ships and shipping in which the
condition of the ships and their cargo was noted. The ships
were graded by letter; the cargoes by number. "A" meant the
ship itself was perfect; "1" that the cargo was likewise
perfect.

"What we think or what we believe is, in the end, of
little consequence. The only thing of consequence is

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

HA! HA! HA!

A man walks into a restaurant with a full-grown ostrich
behind him.

The waitress asks them for their orders. The man says, "A
hamburger, fries and a coke," and turns to the ostrich,
"What's yours?"

"I'll have the same," says the ostrich. A short time later
the waitress returns with the order. "That will be $9.40
please," and the man reaches into his pocket and pulls out
the exact change for payment. The next day, the man and the
ostrich come again and the man says, "A hamburger, fries,
and a coke."

The ostrich says, "I'll have the same." Again the man
reaches into his pocket and pays with exact change.

This becomes routine until, the two enter again. "The
usual?" asks the waitress.

"No, this is Friday night, so I will have a steak, baked
potato, and salad," says the man.

"Same," says the ostrich.

Shortly the waitress brings the order and says, "That will
be $32.62."

Once again the man pulls the exact change out of his pocket
and places it on the table.

The waitress cannot hold back her curiosity any longer.

"Excuse me, sir. How do you manage to always come up with
the exact change out of your pocket every time?"

"Well," says the man, "several years ago I was cleaning the
attic and found an old lamp. When I rubbed it, a Genie
appeared and offered me two wishes. My first wish was that
if I ever had to pay for anything, I would just put my hand
in my pocket and the right amount of money would always be
there."

That's brilliant!" says the waitress. "Most people would
wish for a million dollars or something, but you'll always
be as rich as you want for as long as you live!"

"That's right. Whether it's a gallon of milk or a Rolls
Royce, the exact money is always there," says the man.

The waitress asks, "But, sir, what's with the ostrich?"

The man sighs, pauses, and answers, "My second wish was for
a tall chick with long legs who agrees with everything I say."
