What percentage of a watermelon is water?
Why do we perspire?
--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
How do seedless watermelons reproduce if they have no seeds?
Very, very carefully. Just kidding. Seedless watermelons
DON'T reproduce. They are produced from normal watermelons
that have been genetically manipulated. Just as the
offspring of two genetically different animals (like a horse
and a donkey) produces sterile offspring (a mule), two
genetically different watermelons can be persuaded by
scientists to produce a completely different variety of
watermelon: the seedless kind. But to get ANOTHER seedless
watermelon, you need to modify some more normal watermelons.
The seedless one cannot reproduce.
Does watermelon provide vitamin C?
Yes, it's an excellent source of vitamin C. Watermelon is
also a good source of vitamin A and potassium, as well as
dietary fiber.

Milosevic's death raises questions
By Alexandra Hudson
AMSTERDAM (Reuters) - The U.N. war crimes tribunal hopes an
autopsy on Slobodan Milosevic on Sunday will clear up the
cause of his death in his cell only months before a verdict
was due in his four-year-old trial.
Milosevic, branded the "Butcher of the Balkans" for
conflicts that tore Yugoslavia apart in the 1990s, was found
dead on Saturday, prompting some world figures and relatives
of war victims to say they had been robbed of justice.
As questions were raised as to why the trial had dragged on
for so long, a tribunal spokeswoman said there was no
indication the 64-year-old former Yugoslav president -- who
suffered from a heart condition and high blood pressure --
committed suicide.
Milosevic's lawyer Zdenko Tomanovic told reporters his
client had feared he was being poisoned but the tribunal
rejected a request for the autopsy to take place in Russia.
Milosevic rose to the top of Yugoslav politics in the power
vacuum left by the 1980 death of Yugoslavia's post-World War
Two communist dictator Marshal Josip Broz Tito.
Elected Serbian president in 1990, he ruled with an iron
grip until his overthrow in 2000. There was little sign of
grief in Serbia, now in talks on first steps toward EU
membership.
Milosevic was charged with 66 counts of genocide, crimes
against humanity and war crimes in indictments covering
conflicts in Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo as Yugoslavia
imploded.
The charges included involvement in the siege of Sarajevo
during the 1992-95 Bosnia war and the 1995 massacre of 8,000
Muslims in the U.N. "safe area" of Srebrenica, Europe's
worst single atrocity since World War Two.
Serbia and Montenegro's Minister for Human Rights and Ethnic
Minorities, Rasim Ljajic, would travel to The Hague on
Sunday with two pathologists for the autopsy, officials
said.
Milosevic's trial, Europe's most significant war crimes case
since top Nazis were tried after World War Two, began in
February 2002.
ROBBED OF JUSTICE
The tribunal faces questions from those who feel robbed of
justice about why the trial had gone on so long compared
with the one-year life of Nuremberg and the more limited
scope of Saddam Hussein's trial in Iraq.
Milosevic's ill-health had repeatedly interrupted his trial.
Last month, the court rejected his bid to go to Russia for
medical treatment, noting the trial was nearly finished.
The tribunal also faces questions over monitoring of inmates
at its detention center because Milosevic's death was the
second within a week after the suicide of former rebel
Croatian Serb leader Milan Babic.
A former ally of Milosevic already convicted for war crimes,
Babic was a key witness against the former Yugoslav leader,
accusing him of bringing shame on Serbs.
Normal detention center procedures mean inmates are checked
every 30 minutes during the night.
U.N. chief prosecutor Carla del Ponte, due to hold a news
conference in The Hague at 1100 GMT, said: "The death of
Slobodan Milosevic, a few weeks before the completion of his
trial, will prevent justice to be done in his case."
But she said in a statement others must be punished for the
crimes he was accused of and said six war crimes suspects
still at large, including former Bosnian Serb leader Radovan
Karadzic and his military commander Ratko Mladic, must be
arrested.
European Union foreign ministers reminded Serbia on Saturday
it must arrest the fugitives or risk its bid to join the
bloc.
Milosevic's death occurred at a difficult time for Serbia
with Kosovo poised to win independence and Montenegro also
set to vote on a split from Belgrade in a referendum in May.
Only a single wreath and two candles were placed at
Milosevic's Socialist Party headquarters and a handful of
mourners displayed posters. Hardline nationalist parties
said he should be buried in the national heroes' cemetery.

The Relationship of Oral Health to Overall
Health and Longevity
by Tom McGuire, D.D.S.
PART 22 of 31
Amalgam Controversy The controversy about dental
amalgams that you may have heard about has absolutely
nothing to do with the toxicity of mercury; rather, it
is about whether or not mercury is released from an
amalgam filling in quantities great enough to cause
health problems. It is scientifically known that any
amount of mercury in the body will cause harm and the
more that is present the more harm will be caused. We
also know without a doubt that mercury is released from
amalgam fillings. In spite of that fact, the ADA
continues to say that no one with these fillings need
worry because not enough is released to cause any
health problems; except those who are allergic to
mercury.
They are as wrong today as they were 150 years ago. In
a majority of those with amalgam fillings, it is
impossible for the body to remove all of the mercury it
is exposed to from them and other sources of mercury.
That which cannot be removed accumulates in the body
and over time it can cause innumerable health problems
to tens of millions of people. This booklet does not
allow me the space to explain the many variables that
play a role in determining the numerous long-term
effects of the mercury released from amalgam fillings.
But it should provide enough information for you to
acknowledge that mercury could be a major factor in
nearly every health problem we know of. If you would
like to explore this subject in more detail, I suggest
you read A Mouth Full of Poison: The Truth about
Mercury Amalgam Fillings and Your Complete Guide to
Mercury Detoxification: How to Safely Remove Mercury
from Your Teeth and Body. These books are available at
www.dentalwellness4u.com.
Galvanic Effect of Dental Fillings Dental fillings have
also been shown to exert a galvanic effect in the mouth
when two dissimilar fillings (i.e., gold and amalgam
fillings) are present. This battery-like effect has
been shown to corrode to the less noble filling
material, notably amalgams. As the other metal
components of amalgam are pulled out of the filling,
mercury vapor can be released. The severity of this
action depends on the number of fillings present and
their relationship to each other.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

"My God! What am I to do?" thought the cardinal as he
put his head in his hands. As he was being driven back to
his home base it suddenly dawned on him what had happened.
"Stop the car. Call all the priests back. Get them here
immediately."
Two cars back his chief of staff opened the door of his
car and went running up to the cardinals car. "Your
eminence. What is it?"
"Call all the priests back. We have made a mistake. Get
them, quickly, get them."
"Your eminence they have all gone to their parishes. It
is impossible for us to get them back. What's wrong?"
"Go back to your car. Let me think. I will tell you when
we get home." With that he got his leg back in the door and
pulled the door shut. He instructed his driver to drive on.
The chief of staff ran back to his car and they sped a
little to catch the cardinal's car.
The cardinal had come to the realization that he had
been in awe of the beings that appeared as angels during his
last speech to the congress of priests and bishops. He had
publicly agreed with these angels and had endorsed their
instructions to the priesthood. Moreover, he had instructed
his priests to go out and do as the angels said.
Now, sitting in his car on the way home he suddenly
realized that if his priests did as they were told then
attendance at their churches would drop as would the
offerings. He knew he would be showing reports to Rome that
were far worse than those he presently gave them. He was
suddenly sick in his stomach. He knew the message hit his
priests hard and they were convinced it was the way for the
people. He had told them to go out and do as they had been
told by, apparently God himself. Who were those beings,
anyway?
He had to think. How was he going to undo the damage he
had done? How would he reach every priest and tell them not
to follow the angels advice? And if he did tell them not to
follow that advice, what reasons would he give? What could
he say that would be more important than what God had said?
Who were those beings anyway? Where did they come from? What
were they doing at the congress? My God, attendance will
drop like a stone. The money will dry up. What am I going to
do?
He broke out in a sweat. He looked terribly ill. Without
thinking, he had been caught up in the emotion and awe of
the moment and had agreed with the beings. He had publicly
stated he expected his priests to go out and tell the
message. Now, he knew that might even be his downfall, not
his ticket to promotion and Rome.
That the message, given by the angels, was to send the
priests out to actually be doing the right work, never
crossed his mind. He just knew it would decrease attendance
and revenues. That is what sickened him. He knew the priests
were enthusiastic over the message, over the "angels", over
the whole affair. They would go out and zealously say what
happened and they would give the message. After all he, the
cardinal, had told them to do so.
They drove on and he worried on. Then someone or
something asked him a question. "What worries you so. Are
your people not spreading the message Jesus taught?"
The cardinal looked around. He couldn't see anyone. The
question came again. It was not a pointed question. It was
delivered with a touch of compassion.
"I . .I . . . Who is speaking? Where are those voices
coming from?" He looked at his driver. He appeared to be
driving as if he couldn't even hear the cardinal. The
cardinal was beginning to feel as if he was inside some
envelope within the car and what was going on was happening
only to him.
The question came again.
"I . . I don't know why I am worried. Y . . . yes I do.
My priests are going to go out and teach things that will
take people from the church. They will have no spiritual
guidance and both they and the church will suffer."
Another question. "Are you certain the people will have
no spiritual guidance?"
"Wha . . . What do yo mean? Who are you? What am I doing
here talking with someone I can't even see? What's going
on?"
"I mean, are you absolutely certain the people will have
no spiritual guidance? The question is clear. You said you
thought the people would have no guidance. I am asking you
if you are certain?"
"I . . . I don't know. I don't know what is happening.
If they leave the church who will guide them then? There,
that's what I mean."
"Well, are saying that the church was guiding them
right?"
"Y . . . yes. That is what I mean."
"Then you think the church is doing right by the people?
You think the church is doing right by God? You think the
church is teaching the message Jesus came and taught and
expects you to teach? Or is it that you are doing what the
church tells you to do, without regard whether it is doing
the work of your saviour or not?"
"The church is the instrument of God. Yes we are doing
right. Yes we are getting out the message."
The cardinal was now getting defensive.

WHY DO WE SAY IT?
A-1. Why do we use "A-1" to mean "the very best"?
Because when the Marine insurance firms of London started
the association later to become known as "Lloyds," they also
started a register of ships and shipping in which the
condition of the ships and their cargo was noted. The ships
were graded by letter; the cargoes by number. "A" meant the
ship itself was perfect; "1" that the cargo was likewise
perfect.

HA! HA! HA!
The pastor of a mid-sized church decided one Monday morning
that the staff would verbalize their prayers at the weekly
staff meeting. He led off: "Lord, my daughter is about to go
away to college, I only make $55,000 a year, and it's not
enough."
He turned to the associate pastor, and She said, "Lord, I
have two children in preschool, a new mortgage, I only make
$39,000 a year, and it's not enough."
The minister of education continues with his chant, "Lord,
you know I need a new car, my wife is not well, I only make
$28,000 a year, and it's not enough."
The youth minister has her turn next: "Lord, I've just
finished seminary, I have huge student loans, I only make
$20,000 a year and it's not enough."
At last it's time for the minister of music. His prayer went
like this: "Lord, my son is graduating from Harvard, we
bought a new boat, I make $100,000 a year and ... 'there's
no business like show business!'"
