What was the original name of the cereal "Post Toasties"?

ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -

What was the first toy ever advertised on television?

Mr. Potato Head was the first toy advertised on television.
Now, of course, kids are inundated with ads and have to have
the "hot" toy of the moment right away! Mr. Potato Head, by
the way, was originally sold (in 1952) without the plastic
potato body. The whimsical accessory parts, like the nose
and eyes, were to be inserted into a REAL potato.
Eventually, that was considered too dangerous, as the parts
had to be sharp to pierce a real potato (and, of course,
real potatoes rot).

When was the croissant invented?

The croissant has an interesting origin. Most people think
of it as French, but the croissant was first made in Austria
in 1683. Vienna, at that time, was under siege by the Turks,
who tried to tunnel beneath the city. Viennese bakers, up
late to make baked goods for the next day, heard them and
raised an alarm. The Turks were therefore defeated and, in
honor of the victory, the croissant was invented. The pastry
bore the shape of the crescent moon of the Turkish flag to
remind everyone of what had been narrowly avoided.

France raises marriage age limit

French MPs hope the measures will help cut domestic violence
The French parliament has raised the age at which a woman
can get married - from 15 to 18 - as part of a package to
combat domestic violence.

The law, which aims to prevent forced marriages, makes the
age limit the same as that for men.

Tougher penalties for marital rape and assault will now be
extended to partners and ex-partners in general.

MPs also backed measures to counter sex tourism, child
pornography and female circumcision.

It will also become an offence to confiscate travel or
identity documents to prevent a partner leaving.

The law on theft is also being amended: until now it has
been impossible to bring theft charges against one spouse
stealing from another.

Tech writer: Forget booting Windows on Macs, now is the time
for Apple Mac to take back share
Thursday, March 23, 2006 - 10:17 AM EST;

"I said I wanted it: A Mac that can run Windows. With Apple
Computer's transition to Intel microprocessors well under
way, I joined the chorus of Macheads who said they wanted to
boot Microsoft's Windows in addition to Mac OS X. Now that
it's possible, I'm not so sure I'm willing to take the leap.
At least not yet," Arik Hesseldahl writes for BusinessWeek.
"At first glance they help make a compelling case to Apple
that it should at least consider enabling users to install
Windows easily, should they need it. And there's little
doubt that some do need it."

"However, to me there's some poetic irony in the timing of
the contest. It precedes, by a matter of days, an
announcement by Microsoft that the consumer version of
Vista, the next revision of the Windows operating system,
will be delayed until January 2007," Hesseldahl writes.
"Even before the delay was announced, there was a certain
illogic to the idea of running Windows on a Mac. As one
commenter on Slashdot.org observed: 'We've figured out how
to put an inferior OS on more expensive hardware!' That way,
he says, you can have both the frustrations of Windows and
pay a lot for the equipment."

"Windows certainly is inferior. But like taxes and carbon
emissions, many people find it a necessary evil for getting
along in the world. I dislike the way Windows gets in your
face all the time with system messages, and how it requires
so much hand-holding... Indeed, this is no time to make nice
with Microsoft and Windows. Now that it's got a little extra
time before Vista is available to consumers, Apple should
make every effort before January to take all the market
share it can. This a time to go on the offensive: Bring back
the 'Switchers' TV ads that portrayed happy Mac converts
telling their personal stories of Windows unhappiness
followed by Mac-inspired bliss. Ellen Feiss, call your
agent! It's time for Apple to publicly flog Microsoft for a
long string of slipping development schedules," Hesseldahl
writes. "A day may come when it makes sense for Apple to get
serious about offering Macs that boot to Windows easily. But
it's not this day. This is the time to fight."

The Relationship of Oral Health to Overall
Health and Longevity
by Tom McGuire, D.D.S.
PART 31 of 31

If the results show that you have no existing oral
health problems it will allow you to at least eliminate
these oral health issues as a potential health risk
factor. If the report shows that oral health problems
exist, you will be doing yourself a service by knowing
that you can now take the necessary steps necessary to
deal with these oral issues. It is also imperative to
understand that prevention is something that is done by
you, not to you. But you can ask for the support of
your dental and medical professionals. If you are
willing to do your part, any treatment for your health
problems will be more successful.

Dr. Tom

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.

4Now for the story

That knowing smile came across the Old One's face.

"We are pleased with him, Mr. Sam. He has turned this
village upside down. He has taken away their fear of black
magic and shown the people a new way. They have listened and
Billy has done a good job of respecting each person while
teaching them his way. I have looked at his way. I think I
am too old to learn, but I see the truth in it and I have
told the people they should follow. I am also glad Billy is
here. I am not long for this world and when I go I am glad
Billy is here to guide and help out. We spoke of that this
morning. He knows the people will choose their leaders as
they always have. Billy does not want to be one, but he will
guide any leader who asks for assistance. He will be
someone like me. He knows, too, that soon the leaders will
be those living by your higher law. When that happens then
all will always be completely well in this village. Even
now, look at the outward signs. The people are happy. They
are busy. They have cleaned up the village and life is
prosperous and peaceful. Things have not ever been this good
in this village. That is what Billy has done."

"I am pleased. Billy has worked hard to learn higher
law. He was, himself, going down the wrong path. My boys
came across him one day and brought him home during a time
of crisis in his life. He decided to stay and there he
learned higher law. We are very proud of him, Old One. He is
doing well. And I am glad you support him in his work.
He will guide this village in ways that will keep prosperity
and peace."

"I expect that. Are you and the family going to be
here?"

"Of course, Old One. We wouldn't miss this for anything.
Billy and Sonora have asked many people to come. They come
from all over the world. These people all love the pair of
them deeply. They are truly a beloved couple. I see you have
set up a guest village for us. Thank you. That is
considerate. We all look forward to being here. Billy and
Sonora have asked us to come for a week so we might get to
know each of your people. I hope that is okay?"

"It is. Be ready to talk to the villagers. They want to
know all you are and do."

"Old One, that would be our pleasure. Is it you who will
offer the service?"

"Yes. It is custom. But Billy and Sonora both came to
ask me. That does not often happen in this village. Most
think I will do this because it is my job. I appreciate that
they came and asked. They also said there is a possibility
there may be special visitors arrive during the ceremony,
and that they might arrive in a dramatic way. They wanted to
make sure my feelings would not be hurt if the service was
interrupted by other guests. If Billy and Sonora say these
are special people, then they are welcome in this village. I
am glad they came to talk with me."

"We do not know there will be a special event. We do
know that it has happened at other weddings within our
family, so Billy and Sonora just wanted you to be ready and
prepared. They did not want you to be surprised or upstaged
by such an event, should one occur."

"I understand, Mr. Sam. It would be my pleasure should
something happen to give greater significance to this
wedding. I want to tell you Billy and Sonora have been
excellent examples of self discipline. It is not the custom
in our village for young people to abstain from sexual
practice before marriage. Billy and Sonora have done this
and their example has been noted. We have no morality issues
here, but Billy and Sonora have shown a strength others
would like to have. It will bode well for the village. It is
good to see. Even now the young speak of this."

Sam was pleased to speak with the Old One. Yet, even as
they were speaking a vision was forming in Sam's mind that
permitted him to see the future of the Old One. Sam had a
love for the Old One and the vision he saw filled Sam's
heart with joy. The Old One's future was very secure.

Both Billy and Sonora blushed a little. They certainly
did not expect the Old One to be so forthright as to speak
of their sex life in public. It made them glad their
abstinence was noted, but to speak of it in public?

"Old One you do us honor, speaking of us the way you do.
It is merely courtesy that drives our desire to let you know
what might happen."

"I understand why you do these things. I mention them
only because I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Keeping me
informed makes my life easier. I thank you for it. I must
take my leave now. It is good to have you among us again Mr.
Sam. I look forward to spending a few hours with you alone,
upon your next visit."

"I will cause that to happen, Old One. Thank you." Sam
knew what the Old One had in his mind. He was right when he
said he was not long for this world. He knew it and Sam knew
it. That is why the Old One wanted to talk.

To Sam this was not sad news. It is only sad for those
left behind. For those who pass on it is truly a glorious
day and is to be welcomed, not feared.

"I, too, must take my leave, Momudo, Kenyata, kids. I
must return to my beloved Alewka. I have been away for a few
days now. I will warn everyone, Billy, Sonora, that you will
be coming for them in the next couple days. We will await
your presence."

With that, Sam said his good-byes and was off.

Billy and Sonora sat back down around the fire and
pondered the fact the wedding was now only a short time
away. Billy, quietly, reached out and took Sonora's hand.

WHY DO WE SAY IT?

On the Level: where did we get the expression "on the
level"?

The term originated in Freemasonry. The level is an emblem
of that organization - as is the square - and the Masons
first used "on the level" as well as "on the square" to
refer to living a proper life.

"Beef tongue," replies the butcher!

The lady gives a little involuntary shudder, "No way would I

The butcher nods sympathetically while peeking into the
woman's shopping cart, "I see you're buying a dozen eggs!"
