ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

What is a group of flamingos called?

A pat.

What is a chinook?

A chinook is a dry winter or spring wind which blows down
the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains and is often warm
enough to melt the snow. It is only one of many seasonal
winds given a unique name. Others include the mistral, a
cold strong north/ northwest wind of the Western
Mediterranean with a surface strength of 60 km/ hr, frequent
in winter, and the williwaw, a violent squall that blows in
the Strait of Magellan in South America. The zonda, a hot
dry north wind, blows in Argentina and Uruguay, while the
Santa Ana, a hot dry wind, blows from the north or east in
Southern California. Other seasonal winds include the
brickfielder, the buran, the bora, the harmattan, the
sirocco, the pam-pero, and the southerly burster.

Here's To Think On ...with Ken Darby
-----------------

Think Past Your Objective!

The Browns had just finished their daily practice session
when a large turkey came strutting onto the field. While the
players gazed in amazement, the turkey walked up to the head
coach and demanded a tryout.

Everyone stared in silence as the turkey caught pass after
pass and ran right through the defensive line. When the
turkey returned to the sidelines, the coach shouted, "You're
terrific!!! Sign up for the season, and I'll see to it that
you get a huge bonus."

"Forget the bonus," the turkey said, "All I want to know is,
does the season go past Thanksgiving Day?"

You know what? The turkey has the right idea.

That's right. When you want to reach an objective, don't let
your mind hover around just that objective. See what you are
doing beyond that objective. It has a wonderful influence on
the mind.

Once you begin to look past the objective and see beyond, to
another objective, or look at what life is like once the
objective is reached, you force the mind to conclude
reaching the objective is automatic.

When you have done that the mind simply believes the
objective is attained and all things it does for you will
revolve around that fact.

It is the same in Karate and other marshall arts. When you
go to break that brick with your fist, the secret is to see
your fist right through the brick. You must see it as having
gone past the brick that you hit. Seeing your hand past the
brick is the secret to breaking it.

And so, too, with your life and the objectives you have
within it. See yourself as already having accomplished the
objective and now doing something else. Act as if the
objective was already attained, and it will be.

Clearly the turkey wanted to make it past Thanksgiving Day.
He was not concerned about being good at football. All he
wanted was the season to go past Thanksgiving. That's the
right idea. Don't concentrate on Thanksgiving, see yourself
going past it. And so the turkey will live and thrive.

You, too, will live the way you want, and thrive, when you
see past your goals and begin to work on objectives beyond
your present one.

Think Past Your Objective!

Anxiety, fear, stress are all symptoms of one who is not in
communication with their Maker inside. Some fear punishment from
a fictitious person sitting on some fictitious throne who is
looking down upon you just waiting for you to do wrong. Your
Maker lives within your own breast and the sooner you have a
communication with your Maker the sooner peace, rest, prosperity
become the symptoms you display.

“Vitamins For Chronic Disease Prevention In Adults”
(scientific review and clinical applications)
Two American Medical Association Journal (JAMA) Articles On
The Use Of Supplementation For Adults
PART 4 of 11

I was speaking to a very skeptical man recently. He was
convinced that all companies were out to “fleece” him. That
they all produced the same products: just offered different
promises. Of course all companies see themselves as being
the best. So you must find yourself an objective group of
scientists who know what to research and how to compare
“apples to apples”. If you don’t have your own trustworthy
source, you might like to use this Comparative Guide To
Nutritional Supplements by Lyle MacWilliam. Not only does
this book compare 500 products but it also explains the
function or action of each ingredient and the need for them.
This book will save you a lot of frustration and aimless
running around.

When I first became involved with using nutritional
supplements, I had no idea why the ones that were
recommended to us by doctors for the Meniere’s sufferers,
worked. I just knew they did. But when you see people
getting so much better, you get a strong desire (passion) to
figure out why is this happening. Why did it not happen when
people said they ate well and had no bad habits?  We knew
this particular company’s only goal was to heal the immune
system. But why did these work and why did others not work?
It was only after we received this JAMA report that we
finally understood the significance of using balanced,
complete and optimal supplements. So if you are as unsure of
finding an effective supplement as we were, I urge you to
get this Guide. If you are already using a supplement, check
it out here. Compare it to what scientifically is known to
be needed by the body.

Let me try to help you connect this entire concept to what
might be already going on in your own life. Hopefully, that
will help you to understand this idea a bit better. But
before I can do that, I need to work you through a few
definitions: disease, chronic and degeneration to help you
connect all these terms. (This is how I got through all my
nursing courses: definition by definition.)

Keep these questions and thoughts in mind as you print off
the abstracts.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to
http://www.the-pebble.com OR order yours from
your favorite bookstore. ISBN # 1-4137-4723-X

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

4Now for the story

"There you go. Not in the house five minutes and already
they're holding us in suspense. What is life coming to
sweetheart? Even our own tease us."

"Come on, Dad. Maybe I shouldn't have said anything. It
is only that it is their story to tell, not mine. I want to
let them tell you."

"That's fine, Billy. I was only teasing. I'm sure we
will know what we need to. All is well, son. And how are you
Sonora? You know, Sonora, if I were 30 years younger I'd ask
you to marry me then you wouldn't have to worry about a lug
like this guy!"

Sonora blushed.

"Saaaam! What makes you think you're such a catch
anyway?" Alewka was on his case for the continual teasing.

"That's okay, Mr. Henry. I'll take it as a compliment
anyway." Sonora was on his side.

"There, you see? She's one smart girl. I told you she
was too good for Billy!"

"Sam Henry shut up before everyone gets on your case."

By now everyone was laughing at the show. Sam had a way
of getting everybody going. They all had a good time.

"Well, it's good to see you two. I'm glad you came
early. I always like the family at home, Mom. I know you
kids have to go do your thing, but I sure do like it when
you come home, especially when you bring such pretty ladies
with you."

"Oh, Dad, you're just a lecherous old coot." Billy
laughed out loud at his own joke. Clearly the image he saw
in his mind when he used those words was funny to him.

"Have the villagers got things pretty much lined up,
Sonora?"

"I guess so, Mr. Henry. They haven't told me what
they're doing so I can only surmise all will be ready."

"With your Mom and Dad there what isn't ready they can
prepare in an instant. All will be well."

"Dad, what did the Old One want with you?"

"Billy, that is his story to tell, just like Tom has his
story. I will let him tell you Billy, if you don't mind."

"I don't mind, Dad. I'm like you. I get to know what I
need to know, when I need to know it. All is well."

"Have you two any ideas how we are going about getting
all your guests ready tomorrow?"

"I don't think that will be too hard, Mom. I think in
the morning, around 10 Sonora and I will summon them all
here. Once they arrive, and everyone is here, then we can
leave as a group. That sound okay?"

"Yes, dear. I was just wondering what your plans were.
More coffee?"

"Yes, please. Sonora, honey, how about you?"

"No, I'm fine. Thank you though, Mrs. Henry. I don't get
coffee too much and almost no sugar. I can't take too much
of it. Billy here could drink it by the gallon but I'm
usually more reasonable." Sonora winked at Alewka. They both
laughed.

"Now look who's teasing. You little vixen, you." Billy
poked her in the ribs.

"I know you two just got up from a good sleep, but we
were just going down. Do you think you can sleep some more?
That way we would all get an early start."

"I think we can manage that, Dad."

They finished their coffees and all turned in. Billy
went to his old bed and Alewka gave Sonora a bed in the
guest-room.

The following morning everyone awakened refreshed,
except Sonora. She had a terrible time sleeping on the bed.
She had never slept on anything so soft. She found it
impossible to get comfortable. Finally she just got out of
bed and slept on the floor. At least that way she got some
sleep. Living in a small African village all her life, she
was quite used to sleeping on hard surfaces. Spring filled
mattresses were not her idea of a place to get a good
night's rest.

"I guess we all have to improvise. That's cool. I'm glad
you finally found out what torture I've had to sleep on all
my life."

"Billy Hendricks, you start early and don't give up do
you? I thought you might be a little more compassionate than
that."

"I am, honey. I was just working on you."

"I know." She gave Billy a big kiss on the cheek then
sat down beside him at the kitchen table.

"It's too bad you didn't sleep, Sonora. I should have
thought of that earlier. I could have made the bed hard and
fixed that for you."

"Don't worry about it Mrs. Henry. I could have done the
same. I just didn't think of it. I'll be fine."

"So, today is the day the village gets inundated with
visitors. I hope they can handle it."

"Things will be fine, Sam. We're going to send messages
out to the folks here in town, and they can go down there
with you. Sonora and I will go to Eloise's and Mazunta's and
get all the people there, along with Miguele, Abetta and
family, and we have already spoken with the guys at the
orphanage in China. By the end of the day we should all end
up home. Lots of those folks have never seen the Serengeti.
We are right in the middle of a migration now. The kids at
least will be impressed."

"Sounds good, Billy. We can handle things here if you
want."

"I know, Dad. I just think the message should come from
Sonora and I, that's all."

WHY DO WE SAY IT?

Quibble: Why do we call a petty argument over a minor point
"quibbling"?

The word comes from the Latin quibus. This is the dative and
ablative of qui, meaning "who" or "which" - and it was used
so much in legal documents and fought over to such an extent
by lawyers that it gave us the term "quibble".

HA! HA! HA!

A man suddenly started feeling horrible and was sent to the
hospital.

The next day, the doctor had a talk with the man's wife. He
said, "Your husband has been suffering from serious stress.
If immediate action is not taken, he could die in a very
short time."

The woman said, "What type of immediate action?"

The doctor said, "You must provide a stress-free environment
in your home. For the next two weeks, make wonderful meals
for him every day. Also, you must be sure that you don't nag
him or stress him in any way."

On the drive home from the hospital, her husband asked, "So
what's wrong with me, honey?"

The woman paused for a moment and then replied, "Sorry,
honey, but you're going to die."
