Did King Arthur really exist?
Legends of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table
have been told and retold for centuries in numerous versions
and now form an elaborate mythology full of supernatural
beings and larger-than-life men and women. Some historians
believe it IS possible that the stories originated with an actual
chieftain named Arthur who lived in Wales in about the sixth
century. Attempts to identify the site where Arthur's castle,
Camelot, would have existed have put Camelot everywhere
from Wales to Tintagel. The most likely spot may be the ruins
of Cadbury Castle in Somerset, which was excavated in the
1960's. Cadbury, an earthwork fort of the Iron Age, looks over
the Vale of Avalon to Glastonbury and is near the River Cam,
as well as the village of Queen Camel (once known as Camel).

Tickle Their Imagination!

A professor at the University of Pennsylvania was known
for giving boring, cliché-ridden lectures.
At the beginning of one semester, an innovative class
breathed new life into the course by assigning baseball
plays to each hackneyed phrase.
For example, when the professor said, "On the other
hand," that counted as a base hit. "By the same token"
was a strike out; "and so on" counted as a stolen base.
Divided into two teams by the center aisle of the lecture
hall, the students played inning after inning of silent but
vigorous baseball.
On the last day of class, the impossible happened: the
score was tied and bases were loaded. Then the batter
hit a home run! The winning team stood and cheered
wildly.
Though deeply appreciative, the professor later was
quoted as wondering why only half of the students had
been enthusiastic about his lectures.
Gee! Are you that boring? I sure hope I'm not. Can you
imagine being a teacher, speaker, professor or other
one who communicates to groups, and being that boring.
One's whole life must be a bore.
The point I am getting to here, is this: When you speak
to anyone, when you write for anyone, when you have
a public presentation to make, you OWE it to your listener,
or your reader, to give them your material in an
"interesting" way.
Out of nothing more than mere respect for their time
you owe your listener that much, otherwise they can
get your presentation from books that are far more
interesting.
Your job is not only to make the presentation, but to
make the presentation interesting. If you do not you will
lose your audience fast, real fast.
I used to instruct, part time, at a college. I found that only
about ten percent of the instructors had the courage to
make their presentations interesting. I know that when I
finished a class, I was sweating. It was hard work.
In that college there were eight or ten others who
worked the same.
Then there were seventy or eighty who simply
walked into a room, advised the class the lesson for
the day was on a particular series of pages, then sat
down at the desk and read for the rest of the time.
One of the things that really griped me was that
these people used to get paid. Oh well!
And therein is the heart of the matter. Whatever you
do for public consumption, make it interesting. Failure
to do so will lose your audience, and undoubtedly
the success you were trying to achieve. It is not
enough to have the courage to stand and speak.
You must go further.

Headlines & Stress - A Simple Filtering System
That Might Help You Deal With Health News Headlines

Don't doubt your own knowledge. If you do need to scan the
headline, ask yourself if this could be an area you are not
confident in. Will it question your own convictions? Does it
jostle your common sense? Nowadays some headlines do start your
heart racing. I have noticed a very interesting change in the
use of health care professionals and resources. People are not
going to their doctor's office for professional advice before
they "search" the Internet. Most of the time, they will already
have done a lot of research and are quite prepared with
knowledgeable, intelligent questions and quite a bit of
understanding. They will probably already have checked out all
signs and symptoms. Clinics are used for emergent situations:
not details of conditions. People find it's much quicker and
easier to go to health food stores, the Internet, or bookstores
than to book a doctor's office appointment. You probably do much
the same. You look up key words or phrases on Google or yahoo
find some information. And then get on with your life. But if
the headline jumps out at you, and you are fearful of maybe not
doing the right thing, you could panic. Don't. Your doctor will
have to make the final diagnosis and they will give you some
helpful and practical choices. But don't allow yourself to be
affected by the headlines. If it's an issue, deal with it, but
you are in a grocery store: not a medical facility.
Know your interests. Know your parameters (what you will allow
and what you will exclude). Stay focussed. It is the purpose of
the publication to entice you with sometimes outrageous
headlines. It is your responsibility to filter out the offer.
And the filtering mechanism can be very helpful because you
already know your interests. You have agreed not to work hard on
your dislikes. Be open-minded, but constantly guard your time
and your energy on dead-end distractions using this filter
system. Stay committed and focussed on your specific area of
interest. Ask yourself it this information "fits" your
lifestyle. If not, ignore it. If it does, read the headline, and
put the idea aside for now. Let this percolate. Opportunities
for more detailed study will definitely arise. But pay
attention to how you feel. Are you anxious? Stressed and
irritated? There is nothing in that information that can harm
you except what you allow it to.
The irony of all these headlines is what you learn today, may be
disputed a while in the near future. If you don't keep up
research findings, you could well be happily going with the
original and maybe outdated information. Has this all raised
your anxiety level just a little? Hopefully not. Make sure your
filters are firmly in place. Commit to using them. De-clutter
your mind of information. We have an immense amount of it coming
at us constantly. You must find a buffer yourself. The peace and
comfort you receive will guide and focus you with confidence and
determination. Stress surrounds us at every turn: at work, at
home, in the community. Having the ability to filter out
unwanted information allows you to be in control of your health:
your life. Guard this jealously.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Sien raised his hands into the air, palms up. There
was a flash of light. As he brought down his arms and
hands the guests could see two rings in one of his
palms.
The rings were not fancy diamonds or flashy symbols
men use to identify their station in life to others. They
were very simple bands of gold manifested by Sien
from the ethers. They were beautiful in their simplicity.
The drums, anticipating the acceptance and placement
of rings, began a low, steady rhythm.
Sien continued, "By the rules of spiritual law you
govern your lives. Do you also here promise, that you
will govern your relationship by those rules? Do you
here also commit to governing your family by those rules,
and, as a unit promise to govern all your relationships
with others according to those rules?"
He looked at Oomano. "I do."
He looked at Romano. "I do."
Sien then raised a free hand and drew a circle of light
around the couple. When complete he placed his palm
facing them and at once they were enveloped in complete
brilliant light, hiding them from all. When Sien had finished
he spoke, "This day you have been blessed by higher
law. Do you, Oomano take Romano to be your husband
for as long as you live?"
"I do."
"And Romano, do you take Oomano to be your wife for
as long as you live?"
"I do."
"These rings have been blessed by the community of
masters who live by higher law. They carry the power to
keep you ever mindful of the need for kindness toward
one another at all times and in all circumstances. They
will require you to express love rather than anger,
tenderness rather than avarice, peace instead of
confusion. Do you Oomano accept this ring, knowing
you must follow these dictates so long as you live?"
"I do."
"And you Romano, do you accept this ring knowing it
will require you to perform according to these dictates?"
"I do."
Sien nodded to the drummers.
"Then upon your fingers I place these rings knowing
they carry with them the power of the masters who
blessed them, and that they will be a symbol to you and
all who see you, that you have committed yourself this
day, to another."
The drums were beating louder and faster now.
Sien placed the small ring on Oomano's finger and the
large one on Romano's finger, then raised his hands
high in the air.
The drums came to a crashing roll, then stopped.
Sien continued to hold his hands up. Then, turning,
with his back to the group, lowered his hands in a bow.
At that instant there was a blinding light in front of him.
The light was so brilliant none had seen such before. It
was much brighter than the sun, yet one could look at
is without damage, or discomfort to their eyes.
From out of the light stepped Jesus. Then Budha, Then
Muhammed.
