TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -

How come the Inuit don't get sick when they get so few
fruits and vegetables?
Do Inuits really live in igloos?
--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
What do you call that thing on a map that shows directions?
A compass rose. It's usually in a corner of the map, may be
beautifully illustrated, and has points to illustrate North, South,
East, and West. The compass rose has appeared on maps
since the fourteenth century. It usually has many points instead
of just four because at one time it indicated the directions of the
winds. It's called a "rose", of course, because the many points
make it resemble the flower.
Do Eskimos have another name?
Yes. They are the Inuit. In fact, they do not appreciate being
called "Eskimos." The word "Eskimo" basically means
"eaters of raw meat" and is not a term that the Inuit care for.

theNEWSSHOP NEWS - - -
-----------------
Search Engine Wars Are Likely Just Beginning!
As you know, this column is devoted to bring you
news of what is happening around the internet. This
ones a hot one today folks. It will change a few things,
particularly the financial markets and the possible
re-emergence of faith in internet companies.
This excerpt today comes from
Just An Online Minute for Friday, April 30/04. Here it is:
----------------START EXCERPT
Hooray! Google is going to become a public company.
The news came yesterday afternoon amid a torrent
of earnings reports from Internet and non-Internet
companies. There was so much traffic to the SEC.gov
site that we were unable to obtain a copy of the filing there.
From here on in, and for better or worse, the klieg lights
will shine on Google. In some ways, going public means
always having to say you're sorry, or at least having to
account for every action--financial and otherwise.
In the coming months, the red-hot keyword search
category is likely to heat up in ways we can't even
imagine as new pricing models, products, and services
roil the waters in an already frothy category. Ladies and
gentlemen--get ready to rumble!
Microsoft's MSN is also poised to enter the fray. MSN,
which is building its own search technology and service,
offered us a glimpse in late March during its
Customer Summit, of the kinds of features its service
will provide. Yahoo!/Overture is out to take back share
it ceded to Google over the last few years.
In February, Google accounted for nearly 35 percent
of searches conducted at major search engines by
U.S. Internet users, while Yahoo! had 30 percent,
according to comScore Networks. On a global basis,
Google represented 43 percent of all searches,
comScore reports.
That's a lot of share.
Nielsen//NetRatings yesterday issued data that shows
Google as the top search destination, luring more
than 65 million Web surfers in March, while Yahoo!
attracted 48 million, MSN 45 million. America Online's
AOL Search attracted 21 million visitors and Ask Jeeves
racked up 14 million visitors in March.
----------------END EXCERPT
This internet thing is just like a pot of boiling stew.
Always something new surfaces.

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - -
Chronic Illness And The Family:
Understanding It And Offering Some Support.
PART 2 of 6
At home, things will be more relaxed. The focus will be
on integrating both their physical and emotional needs
into their normal lifestyle. Here the "tables are turned"
and control is back with the client, who may or may not
want to do as the nurse advises: that is their choice.
Care is always adjusted to create an atmosphere of
understanding and co-operation. Sometimes this can
be a real challenge. However, nurses are taught to be
very observant and creative in ways that allow the client
to resume a more healthy way to live.
When someone at home has a chronic condition that
requires periodic nursing care, there are several issues
involved. This may or may not include other members
of the family, including children, plus the results of the
actual illness. These can easily include the actual
disability, anxiety about finances or job loss, family
responsibility, motivation
or lack of, depression,
possible drug interactions or dependencies, etc.
Some drug side effects may also result in paranoia.
(Please consult with your pharmacist if you have the
slightest concern.)
These not only influence the client, but also the
caregiver and the children. Someone always ends
up becoming the main caregiver: not by choice, but
by default. So while the routine "life must go on" exists,
life is never the same. Routines, which ensure stability
and confidence, are changed and stress becomes
a very real factor. Everyone's roles in the family dynamic
are changed and the ripple effect is very upsetting. Most
people don't know how to accept change easily, and
this creates a crisis situation.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET
<><><><>
THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Immediately a cheer went up. The guests left their
chairs and raced up to the bride and groom, offering
their love and good wishes.
The poor little city official would have to wait for his
forms to be signed. He had, himself, been so
overwhelmed by what had just happened he lost
complete sight of the need to have the paperwork
done. He would have his time.
The drums were now accompanied by a guitar and a
trumpet. The party was on.
The dancing began and the first waltz was afforded to
Romano and Oomano. Each looked into each others
eyes and beamed. They were both smiles from one
ear to the other. And they were radiant.
The next dance all the group joined in, even the kids,
as kids do, and fun was had by all.
Sien, feeling sorry for the poor civil servant from the
city, walked over to him and put his hand on the man's
shoulder. Immediately there was a flow of energy into
the man, that he did not understand. He wanted to recoil,
but he was pinned where he was. Sien kept him there,
until he settled down.
"Now, sir! you have some forms you want filled. Shall
I arrange for that to be done?" asked Sien.
"Y-y-yes sir!" came the hesitant, almost fearful reply.
The man was not fearful so much as filled with awe.
"You have seen much here this day. I hope and trust it
served you well. You might remember what was said
here today, for each word was truth." said Sien.
All the while Sien was speaking with the city official,
he was also silently broadcasting to Romano and
Oomano that they had yet to sign this man's forms.
He received the message back that the forms were
now signed.
"People will never believe me, that I was near Jesus.
They will say I am lying when I tell them. If I tell anyone
they will think I am a lunatic. I will lose my job, my wife
will not believe me, my kids will not believe me."
said the man.
"I guess the solution to that dilemma, then, is to refrain
from telling anyone, right?" asked Sien.
"Yeah! I guess so." replied the man.
"Oh! By the way! Your forms are all filled out in all the
right places and signed. You can take them now. They
will present you with no difficulties upon your return
to your office." said Sien.
"Tha-thank you." stuttered the man.
"Thank you for being here and getting that job done."
said Sien as he put his arm around the man and
ushered him to the gate at the front of the yard.
Sien returned to the party.
For a party with no alcoholic beverages, this one was
sure lively. Folks were dancing, talking, going for walks
back to the "village" and generally having a very good
time. Most of all they were visiting, again and again,
with long time friends whom they had not seen for a
long time.
The feeling of love was in the air. Miguele had one
dance with his now married daughter, then one with
Riata. Abetta, too, had a dance with Romano. The time
was one to be cherished. Miguele and Abetta were very
proud of their daughters today.
The kids fit in as if a normal, natural part of the human
affair. None misbehaved, none was reprimanded for poor
behavior. All were happy, considerate and well.
The drummers and musicians seemed to have boundless
energy. They played and played for hours. These men
took great pride in their work and a great deal of pleasure
watching others enjoy themselves to the music.
Romano and Oomano were in each other's arms. They
were now unto themselves in their own world. They had
lost track of others around them and were in love.
They even paid no conscious attention to the rhythm of
the drums, but it was in them. They danced as if their
feet never hit the floor.

HA! HA! HA!
A new minister was talking to the oldest member of his
congregation. "I am 90 years old, sir, and I haven't
an enemy in the world," said the aged one.
"That is a beautiful thought," said the minister approvingly.
"Yes sir, it sure is," was the answer. "I'm thankful to
say that I've outlived 'em all!!"
