Deep Impact!

The teacher asked little Johnny if he knows his numbers.
"Yes," he said. "I do. My father taught me." "Good. What
comes after three." "Four," answers the boy.
"What comes after six?" "Seven."
"Very good," says the teacher. "Your dad did a good job.
What comes after ten?"
"A Jack."
Well, it seems this boys father is a card shark, using a deck
of cards to teach his boy how to count. The father obviously
had impact on the boy as did his style of teaching.
There is something else that has impacted my mind,
the "Millenials"
Remember a while back we found that a group of people
coming up through the age groupings was that group
known as the Millenials? They are that group of people
who were born after the personal computer became an
instrument of daily use. In other words they were born
during or after the year 1982, and have never known life
without computers.
To some that might appear insignificant. To others the
real impact of that knowledge has extrapolations we
cannot even fathom at this point.
What has me thinking is what I see as our future. During
the first part of the twentieth century both cars and
airplanes were just starting to become useful to
mankind. Today the entire world has changed, based
on those two inventions.
Not long ago the computer was brought onto the scene
and our lives changed again, because of it. In fact there
remains only a few who do not use the computer as a
way of sending and receiving information vital to
their daily living.
The learning curve for most of us has been years.
Yet here we have a group coming up that has been
able to use computers as soon as their parents let
them or as soon as the education system could arrange
it. They have never known life without these machines.
This group has learned to play games online, which
sounds simple, yet has prepared them for an interplay
that will astonish us in the future.
One of the things that has my mind going is that this
group, and it gets larger with every new birth, will do
virtually ALL their buying decisions online. Does that
mean a business needs a website? Well, clearly one
would or could be of help, but what is MANDATORY is
that all business, in order to succeed in the future will
have to devise some method of communicating with
their customers online. Without it there will be business
failure after business failure.
The impact this group will have on the way things are
done will be enormous, critically so. We have not even
begun to consider the ways our lives will change, but
one thing is abundantly clear, the old days of surviving
in business just because you are there, ARE GONE.
Today, to reach your customers and keep them coming
in your door to purchase your wares, it is a necessity
that the internet be a part of your marketing strategy.
Those who listen well and move on this matter will be
those who survive in the business world over the next
upcoming decades.

Safe Shutdowns
When your computer stops responding to your actions and
you're stuck. Too many incomplete shutdowns and abrupt
reboots can damage system files and adversely impact the
performance of Windows.
Try this instead: press Ctrl+Alt+Del. The Close Program dialog
box opens, listing all of the programs running on your PC at the
moment. Look for the program with "(not responding)" at the
end of its listing. Select it and click End Task. If it can, Windows
will close this wayward program, freeing you up to save the
work in your other programs, so you can then do a proper
shutdown or reboot.

The Ins And Outs of Breathing

You may recall that the purpose of the air exchange is two fold.
One reason is to bring energy (O2) to the cell. The second
reason is to remove waste products (CO2) from the bloodstream.
We have covered the normal function of the body and how it
protects you. Now let's look at how it reacts to intruders.
You may recall from previous articles that things that are not
"of" the body or are not wanted in the body are seen by the body
as "intruders". These are called "free radicals" or enemies for
ease of discussion. And those could well include things like
pollens, chemicals, environmental factors, etc. Or it could be
something else that the body doesn't like and will try to get
rid of it somehow.
The cilia already mentioned are very useful in doing this all
the time. It is their normal function to keep all the pathways
clear and clean. But sometimes they get overwhelmed and can't
handle the load of free radicals any longer.
In all cases, the body has a protective system called the immune
system and one part of it is the inflammatory process. If the
cilia are not able to dislodge the intruder(s), the body now
puts this (natural) anti-inflammatory process to work. But if
you remember, there is obviously limited space available in the
tubes or bronchioles and the bronchus (main stem) and the sacs.
Any fluid build up will prevent oxygen from going to the blood
stream. There is no space for it to bypass the response system's
actions. It's like a storm sewer filling up with leaves and
eventually blocking any water from going through.
However, when these intruders are especially intense, an
inflammatory response develops the layer under the tiny hairs.
This is called rhinitis. Pollens, feathers, mites, fine dust
particles animal dander cause rhinitis. Allergic rhinitis is
caused by pollen "grains" (or particles) and is called hay
fever.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

The two moved through the streets as if gliding.
They walked, of course, but their movement was
constant and they were able to move from one spot
to another, always toward getting out of the city,
with little in the way of impediment.
They stopped now and again to buy some food, have
a snack, look at some goods, talk with some of the
local people, or just to rest.
By the time night fell they had not travelled far.
They decided to stop for the day, and just watch
what happened. They made no attempt to get lodging
or find a place for the night. They knew they
would find a place in a park somewhere and simply
get some rest and sleep there. They were able to
manifest comfortable conditions wherever they
were, so they were not concerned.
Yet a wonderful thing happened, or so Mae thought.
As darkness came down over the marketplace the
merchants brought out kerosene lamps they stood at
the ends of their tables. When lit, the street
looked like a thousand blinking, flashing fires.
Underneath these fires the merchants still did
business, but now they brought out tea, and
offered food and beverage to all who came to their
table. This tradition had begun centuries ago.
Even the restaurants offered free snacks and tea
to the passersby. Those who were hungry, of
course, would still buy food.
Up above the streets were places in the buildings
where people lived. many had laundry strung out on
lines above the street that shone ghost like as
they moved in the soft breezes.
The smells became even more intense at night as
there was more food brought out.
The entire scene was much like the midway on a
circus or county fair at night. There was even
music heard here and there where a lone musician
or a small group would be singing, entertaining
the passersby.
It was a scene like out of a fairy tale. It was
filled with love, togetherness, happiness. The
business turned from one of doing business to one
of visiting with friends, enjoying one another and
the company of the street. Business was still
conducted, but it was no longer the main thrust of
the events. Visiting was.
The action kept up long into the night. It was
made the stronger and busier, by people coming
into the area after coming home from jobs outside
the area. This regular evening occurance, every
night was the highlight of the day for most folks.
Even children who now materialized by the
hundreds, loved these evening get togethers. It
was wonderful.
Mae and Susan soaked up all the good will, the
camaradarie, and the love of the sight. They
contributed their own love by broadcasting it
wherever they went.
They were treated with very high regard by all
whom they met. As white skinned as they were they
were obvious foreigners. Yet they spoke the
language and were able to communicate without
difficulty, making them welcome and respected.
Neither Mae nor Susan had any training in the
language. They were able to understand the
thoughts of the person with whom they were
communicating. They, in turn would send thoughts
back, while speaking, and in that way they had no
difficulty carrying on conversations.
It was taking some time to become accustomed to
the noise and the smells, not all of which were
favorable, but this is the way these people lived
and in the overall Mae loved it.
Susan was a little more cautious, as had been her
lifestyle for years, but she found the whole scene
at least acceptable.
To prepare for the night the girls thought they
would find a spot in an isolated area, preferably
a park, cause the ground to be the perfect bed,
render themselves invisible, place an invisible
shield around them to prevent anyone from getting
near them, and then go to sleep.
In doing this they established a way in which they
would find themselves sleeping for many nights in
the future. It proved to be safe, comfortable and
secure.

A scientist gets on a train to go to New York. His cabin
also has a poor farmer in it. To pass the time the scientist
decides to play a game with the guy.
"I will ask you a question and if you get it wrong, you have
to pay me 1 dollar. Then you ask me a question, and if I get
it wrong, you get 10 dollars. You ask me a question first."
The farmer thinks for a while.
"I know. What has three legs, takes 10 hours to climb up a
palm tree, and 10 seconds to get back down?"
The scientist is confused and thinks long and hard about
the question. Finally, the train ride is coming to an end. As
it pulls into the station, the scientist takes out 10 dollars
and gives it to the farmer.
"I don't know. What has 3 legs, takes 10 hours to get up a
palm tree and 10 seconds to get back down?"
The farmer takes the 10 dollars and puts it into his pocket.
He then takes out 1 dollar and hands it to the scientist.
"I don't know."
