We have a couple pieces of news for you today.
It seems that those sites that offer a number of payment
methods gain sales over those sites who use just one
method, say credit cards.
Studies show that when you offer gift certificates, echecks,
even accept checks by snail mail, will boost sales a
significant amount.
For your information, that is one of the reasons why
thePEBBLE organization uses PayPal. Not only do
they offer many ways to pay, including in local currency,
but, and this is big in our books, they are a wonderful
advocate for the purchaser, in the event of a dispute
or difficulties.
More news, and this is interesting, a man in Buffalo NY
has been sentenced to three and a half years in jail for
spamming. Here's the excerpt from Media Daily News:

Buffalo Spammers Receives Jail Time
According to a Reuters report, the New York state
man who sent out millions of "spam" e-mails was
sentenced to 3-1/2 to seven years in prison.
Howard Carmack, better known as the
"Buffalo Spammer," received the maximum
sentence for 14 counts of identity theft and forgery,
a spokesman for New York Attorney General Eliot Spitzer
said. Carmack sent out 825 million bulk e-mail messages
using stolen identities and forged addresses. Internet
provider EarthLink Inc. won a $16.5 million judgment
against Carmack last year, and EarthLink officials
testified in the criminal trial as well.

The Ins And Outs of Breathing
Every breath you take is vital to your survival

Can you see how all this connects to your immune system? Your
body's natural and immediate reaction to any intruder is to
activate the inflammatory process. But if this "draw" on the
system is long-term it will really impair your immune system.
And a weakened immune system leaves you open to all sorts of
health problems. Can you now see how different the aging process
is from and inflammatory response of your immune system? The
aging process has no harmful effects on the airways except to
slow down all the functions gradually. The inflammatory process
has huge health implications.
So the key in truly helping yourself would be to rebuild your
natural antioxidant defense system (inflammatory) and natural
immune system back to optimal levels. The use of appropriate
nutritional supplements and a lot of common sense can best
accomplish this goal. Drink lot so fluids to help keep the
mucous membranes moist and thin (healthy). Stay away from things
that you know make you cough. Wear a face mask if you have to be
around people who may increase your risk for infections. Keep
humidity up. Air conditioners tend to dry out your nasal
passages. Check to make sure it always has clean water in it.
Make sure whatever you use, isn't growing bacteria in the water.
Change it often. Wash your hands often. Eat healthy foods. Avoid
foods you suspect.
It goes without saying to try and discover the underlying
irritant. Don't just accept the fact you have to live like this
for the rest of your life. You don't.
It is important to remember that the immune response is vital
for protecting the body from foreign invaders. Your best effort
must go to keeping it strong and healthy. Asthma and allergies
are among the most common health problems. As many as 50 million
Americans are afflicted with asthma, hay fever or other
allergy-related conditions.
Now that you understand how the body protects you by using
different facets of your immune system, it makes sense to
protect it. Having a good understanding of how your body reacts
to "intruders" helps you to make informed decisions. And if you
need to consult a doctor, your communication will be much more
practical and rewarding. Commit now to ensuring that your body
is healthy and strong and can continue to help you maintain a
high quality of life.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Susan had a smile on her face as Mae went through
the learning thing with the chopsticks. Yet it
didn't take long. Mae became proficient at it and
soon was eating away without difficulty.
Mae soon learned that she actually enjoyed eating
with chopsticks. She found it was much better than
the utensils you got back home. The restaurant
owner told her she could keep these, if she
wanted. She did.
Susan made the decision to, likewise, go get more
to eat. She, too, came out with the same kind of
food Mae had, and chopsticks. It took Susan a
little longer to eat but soon she, too had the
knack of eating with chopsticks. It was fun, and
the pair of them laughed at each other.
"Well, this has been some couple days! I've
enjoyed this. I think we are getting on to how we
can live here. I'm looking forward to it. How
about you Sue?" asked Mae.
"It's different I'll tell you that much. I haven't
made up my mind yet whether I like it or not. Oh,
I like it for a bit of a holiday, something
different, but I don't know how I'm going to take
to it for a long period of time. We'll see." she
replied.
"Oh, I'm sure you'll do fine. Anyway you can come
and go as you wish. I've been through culture
shock before. It can be bad the first time, but
now I don't think I'll have any problem. Once
teaches you things. It's good for you Sue!" said
Mae, laughing.
"I know. I'll stick it out as long as I can. But I
might need your help and counsel."
"You got it. Let's walk around this market for a
while, and see what's happening." said Mae.
The ladies knew they were here for a long time, so
they were in no particular hurry to get out of the
city. They also knew that if they spent as much
time walking tomorrow as they did today, then they
would be out of the city and into a rural setting.
So they weren't in a hurry.
Browsing through the market made them aware of
many things done here that were different than
what happens at home. Yet, while folks used
different food, and prepared it differenty, and
ate it differently, they were still doing what
people back home did. The process was the same.
Folks went out to buy what they needed, took it
home and did what they had to do, with the most
important and overriding motive being survival.
Beyond that the market had jewelery shops, china
shops, ratan wear shops, cloth shops, clothing
shops, art shops. You could buy whatever you
wanted or needed. There were freshly dressed ducks
and chicken hanging in the open. There was fresh
catch fish in showcases. There were fruit and
vegetable tables all over.
Many merchants with bulky produce or products had
large mats laid out on the ground, with their
merchandise spread out on it.
Additionally there were those merchants that
appeared to deal in bulk goods. You could purchase
big sacks of rice, beans, flour, sugar. You could
get big heads of lotus leaves, all tied together
at the stem.
And, like back in the States you could find
plastic ware, glassware, straw goods, steel goods,
cooking utensils.
The market seemed to carry everything a family
could want, although there was not sign of the big
items like cars, bicycles, wagons or that kind of
thing.
As they walked past booths or stalls, the
merchants tried to call them in, all wanting to
sell them something.
The ladies politely, calmly, turned down all of
them. The last thing they wanted was earthly
possessions to burden them down.
They did stop to talk to some of the less
aggressive merchants, in a getting to know the
people type of gesture. They were always
surprised, pleased and enjoyed these meetings.

Joan, who was a rather well-proportioned secretary,
spent almost all of her vacation sunbathing on
the roof of her hotel. She wore a bathing suit
the first day, but on the second, she decided
that no one could see her way up there, and
she slipped out of it for an overall tan. She'd
hardly begun when she heard someone running
up the stairs. She was lying on her stomach,
so she just pulled a towel over her rear.
"Excuse me, miss," said the flustered assistant
manager of the hotel, out of breath from running
up the stairs. "The Hilton doesn't mind your
sunbathing on the roof, but we would very much
appreciate your wearing a bathing suit as you
did yesterday."
"What difference does it make?" Joan asked
rather calmly. "No one can see me up here,
and besides, I'm covered with a towel."
"Not exactly," said the embarrassed man. "You're
lying on the dining room skylight."
