How much money did "Titanic" make at the box office?

How long did it take Leonardo da Vinci to paint the

What famous painter is believed to have sold only one painting
while alive?

ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

Are butterflies poisonous?

Some butterflies are indeed poisonous and birds learn not
to eat them. Some other butterflies (called "mimics") aren't
actually poisonous, but they mimic the appearance of the
poisonous ones to avoid predators.

Where are the most movies made?

You probably guessed "Hollywood," but if you did, you're
incorrect. Each year, more movies are produced in India
than in Hollywood. About 800 movies are released annually
in India. That's about twice the number produced by Hollywood.

How did the "Emmy" get its name?

The "Emmy," the statuette of a winged woman holding an atom,
was designed by a television engineer named Louis McManus,
using his wife as a model. The statuette isn't named for his wife,
however. It was originally called the "Immy," a term commonly
used for the early image orthicon camera. It was later modified to
"Emmy", which members of the Academy of Television Arts and
Sciences thought was more appropriate for a female symbol.
Emmy awards, of course, recognize excellence in television.

What Is The Price Of Personal Peace?

Peace. Is there anything more important?

We want to live in peaceful times, in peaceful
communities, in peaceful families. When asked what
people wanted most in their lives, surveys showed that
peace of mind topped the list. As with most things we
want, though, it has a price. Are you prepared to pay?

If you are still yelling at the driver in front of you,
there cannot be peace. If you believe your way is the
only way, there cannot be peace. If you are more likely
to judge others than reflect on yourself, there cannot
be peace. Peace is a construct of people. It is an
agreement that there is a better way to live, and a
commitment to that way. That way is... peacefully.

Your willingness to live peacefully with others
demonstrates your commitment to world peace. How is
your internal dialogue? Is it a constant stream of
judgments? Does your mind run like this at the mall?
"Look at that outfit!", "That's no way to behave.", "If
she can get herself a man, anyone can.", "Who does he
think he is?" "They call that customer service?" "Ooh,
baby, you've had a few million calories too many."
Sound at all familiar? Is this creating peace within
yourself? Not likely. As within, so without. Those
words will find their way from your mind to your lips
sometime soon in all likelihood. Then, you can really
get into it! How peaceful is that?

How's your temper? Do you offer others a piece of your
mind often? Oops, wrong kind of piece. Did they ask you
what you were thinking? Oh, no, they didn't have to?
You were just 'sharing your thoughts', were you? For
whose good was that exactly? We even have a phrase we
use to make that all right somehow. We say "I'm telling
you this for your own good." Now, how would you be sure
that was the truth? Could it just be that you wouldn't
hold your tongue? You certainly could have. How
peaceful was that?

Oh, you do not even have to open your mouth to pass
judgment. Just roll or avert your eyes. That doesn't
leave too much to the imagination. Remember, you cannot
not communicate.

Peace has a price tag. Each person has to pay it or
they simply cannot have it. Here are a few ways to
save up for it:

** WORK ON YOUR SELF-DEVELOPMENT FIRST

When you find yourself judging others, first ask
yourself if you are blameless in those areas. When you
have taken care of the issue responsibly yourself, you
will better understand how to be most helpful to
others.

** FOCUS ON SOLUTIONS NOT PROBLEMS

Rather than looking for someone to blame, put your
energy into creating a better way to rectify a
situation or to prevent a recurrence. Work towards
agreement for solutions. That's a much better use for
your energy.

** IDENTIFY YOUR FEELINGS CORRECTLY

Take the time to identify the feeling you are
experiencing accurately and give it a name. People can
understand fear, frustration and pain when it is
described. Talking about it brings clarity to
communication. Anger is is an arousal in your
body in response to fear, frustration or pain. Simply
'being angry' causes folks to move away from you.

** BE ACCOUNTABLE, RESPONSIBLE AND CONGRUENT

Keep your commitments to yourself and others. When in
doubt, actions speak louder than words. When behavior
is not congruent with words, believe the behavior. And,
walk your talk.

** MAINTAIN YOUR BALANCE

You are entitled to your opinions, beliefs, values and
lifestyle. Your choices have consequences for you and
others. Consider the consequences before acting or
speaking. To have peace, it is essential to live
without infringing on the rights and freedoms of others
to have their opinions, beliefs, values and lifestyle.
Peaceful living requires tolerance, acceptance, and,
good fences and boundaries.

** BE VERY CLEAR ABOUT WHAT IS IMPORTANT, SIGNIFICANT
AND VALUABLE TO YOU

When you know what you value and live accordingly, you
will find peace. Then, it is yours to share. You cannot
give a gift you do not have.

When you have conserved your energy in these ways, you
will have the price of peace. There is only one catch.
If you want to keep it, you simply have to keep paying
the price!

Aneurysms
A Leak In Your Circulatory System
PART 1 of 9

I had an interesting question from a reader about "a hole in the
aorta". And as frequently happens, I get carried away by these
simple questions. I know people don't expect long dissertations
on their subjects when they ask a health-related question. They
don't provide me with a reason for the question, so I can't give
any specific information. I answered the reader's question
directly with very little detail. However, I thought you might
be interested in knowing a little more.

Have you ever even thought of an aneurysm? Probably not unless
you are directly involved as a participant/patient or a
relative? I thought you might like to know what actually happens
in an aneurysm: how it gets to be that way, what possible causes
there are, what treatment is given, what side effects can
happen, if they can be prevented and if you have one, what's
ahead for you.

First, let's learn what it actually is. Aneurysms occur in the
circulatory system. This network of "smooth" corridors includes
the heart, lungs, arteries, arterioles (small arteries), and
capillaries (very tiny blood vessels), and veins and venules
(very small veins). (Did you know that if you laid all these
vessels end-to-end, they'd extend about 60,000 miles? That's
enough to tie up the earth twice around!)

This "transportation corridor" goes all through the body.
Picture a tube-like "container" along the lines of a garden
hose. It's a hollow, clean, inner corridor (space) with no
blockages unless they are there naturally. Close to the center
of your body, the diameter of these spaces is very large in
comparison to other body structures. As it goes outwards towards
the farthest parts of the body, the diameters get smaller and
smaller. (Arteries change to arterioles and vein are called
venules). Normally this corridor has "routes" or vessels that go
to the toes, the fingertips, and to the brain. And of course
everywhere in between. (It's like the traffic tunnel under the
Hudson River coming into New York City. Or the underground in
London, England. We are talking about the container: not the
contents. This are similar to the highway and the cars on the
highway or the coal cars on the train tracks. The cars carry the
load, but they are not the ones having this "mechanical"
problem: the highway is. With the aneurysm, it's the corridor
itself or the vessel holding the blood that has the problem.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------

That first step was a cold one. Mae and Susan
could have changed that for themselves and for Ng
but they really wanted to see what it was like.
They would go the distance and look after
everyone's feet at the end of the day.

This chasm was not only deep but it closed in
on itself in many places. There were spots where
the walls were so close they had to bend down to
get through. Anyone carrying packs would have a
very hard time here.

By now they had been in the stream for two
hours. Their feet were numb and that part of their
body was acting like an automaton. They seemed to
have very little control over their feet. The feet
were just there when they took the next step.

The bottom of the stream was rough with rock.
Every step a foot wanted to bend and twist in ways
that weren't normal.

By what they thought was noon, the ladies were
beginning to wonder when this trip would be over.
Only ocassionally did they see light from the sky.

Ng knew this to be one of the most difficult
parts of the journey. He also knew there was
nowhere to stop and that they had to keep moving.
That is what he did. He showed no mercy for the
ladies. They asked for none.

Just when they thought they were getting used
to the numbing cold water Ng came to a problem
area. The stream ahead was falling over a cliff.

As Ng approached it he began to go deeper into
the water until he was finally up to his waist. If
one did not get through this part rapidly
hypothermia would set in and death would easily
occur.

Ng warned the ladies to hurry. There was more
than one skeleton at the bottom of this pool. He
also warned them to follow his tracks and not to
step on either side. He was on a ledge and on
either side the pool got deeper.

He reached the far side of the pool and was
being splashed by the waterfall. Grabbing a rock,
he began to climb. It was wet and cold. Now his
hands were getting numb as well.

Mae and Susan followed. They were stout
hearted girls. They knew they could change their
environment in an instant, but the problem was how
would they learn by always making things easy for
themselves?

All three of them were soaked to the skin from
the waterfall. The climb itself took over an hour.
At one point Mae asked Ng how far he thought they
had traveled today. His answer was "Maybe four
miles."

In other words after the climb and walk across
the plateau Ng felt they had traveled less than a
mile. Things were deceiving in this land. After
such effort and such discomfort one would think
they had surely covered some distance. It would be
some reward for the price they were paying, but
no, they couldn't even have that.

Finally they reached the top of the falls. All
were wet and cold. "We must keep going. To stop
now would be dangerous. Only movement of the body
will keep us warm and save us. Worst is over.
There one more bad spot but this was worst."

Ng took out some jerky and shared it with the
ladies as he kept on walking. All were shivering.
Not only were they cold from the soaking, their
clothes were now beginning to freeze solid.

Mae and Sue ran to catch up to Ng. He had
quickened his pace to maintain warmth and to keep
his clothes from freezing at the parts that had to
remain flexible. Skins, when wet then frozen tend
to crack and break open. He had to keep them soft
and supple.

Mae and Susan could only wonder what the next
difficult spot would be. It was another couple
hours before they found out.

Ng had kept up his pace. All were breathing
hard from exertion but his pace had kept them from
freezing. The next challenge lay ahead and it was
dangerous.

Just ahead of Ng the ladies noticed the chasm
widened. It wasn't until they caught up to Ng that
they saw what was really happening. The chasm had
opened here. The stream bed was on one side but Ng
said it was too deep to walk in. They had to cross
this deeper chasm and climb along the wall for a
distance of 100 feet or more. One slip would mean
certain death. The only saving grace was that the
steps and hand holds were not wet, snowy or icy.
To progress here was to do so with one's heart in
their mouth.

Before they began Ng warned them that fear
would be their enemy. They were not to look down
but to concentrate on the next step, the next hand
hold. They were to be immediately behind him so
that when he was finished with a step or a hand
hold they were to take it. He wanted them that
close.

HA! HA! HA!

A tired minister was at home resting, and through the
window he saw a woman approaching his door. She was one
of those too-talkative people, and he was not anxious
to talk with her. He said to his wife, "I'll just duck
upstairs and wait until she goes away."

An hour passed, then he tiptoed to the stair landing
and listened ... not a sound. He was very pleased, so
he started down calling loudly to his wife, "Well, My
Dear, did you get rid of that old bore at last?"

The next moment he heard the voice of the same woman
caller, and she couldn't possibly have missed hearing
him. Two steps down, he saw them both staring up at
him. It seemed truly a crisis moment.

The quick-thinking minister's wife answered, "Yes,
Dear, she went away over an hour ago. But Mrs. Jones
has come to call in the meantime, and I'm sure you'll
be glad to greet her."
