TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------
How many types of marsupials live in the United States?
What protects opossums from snakes?
--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
What is a momus?
A momus is a person who is always finding fault with others.
The word is based on a character in Greek mythology, Momus,
the god of censure and mockery, who incessantly criticized the
other gods. He went too far when he made fun of Aphrodite's
(goddess of love) shoes and the gods threw him out of Olympus.
What kind of animal is an opossum?
Opossums are marsupials, a class of mammals that give birth
to tiny young and then keep them in external pouches.
Kangaroos are also marsupials.

What A Joy It Is To Serve!
by Ken Darby
In communicating with a friend the other day I was
impressed with a statement he made. This is an
excerpt from that letter and specifically the
statement - "I don't really care about list size. I let
God handle the little details."
WOW! Do you have that kind of faith? You know,
the kind of faith that lets you serve every day with
no thought of return knowing full well that your
Maker will feed you, cloth you and look after you?
That is service and WHAT A JOY IT IS TO SERVE!
Allow me, if you will, to talk about "SERVICE" for a while.
True service is a place in your heart and mind that
genuinely wants absolutely nothing in return for the
service. True service occurs because there is a task
to be performed and it is given freely.
I wonder what can be gained by such service? Believe
it or not a full rich, prosperous, bountiful, happy, peaceful
and wonderful life!
It is in the following of the law " . .as ye give, so shall ye
receive . . ." that we find our prosperity. It is in stepping
aside from man's way of doing things, trusting, and
following universal law that enriches our life.
Unfortunately, because our Maker wants to show us
what life is and how it works, nearly all of us have
experiences in our youth that we marvel at, call miracles,
that we go on to forget. At least we fail to see or we forget
the lesson behind it. Too often we recall such things in
our storytelling moments and continue to overlook the
real truth behind it.
So often we are bent on "putting bread on the table"
that we end up settling for scraps when we could have
had the whole darn loaf. So often we are concentrating
so much on "building for our retirement" we miss completely
the diamonds we are standing on right now. Too many
times we get so wrapped up in the "importance" of what
we are doing we repel opportunity, indeed we don't
even see it.
The rewards for taking such steps are "HUGE".
However, remember your school days too. The
miracles do not happen, in your eyes, instantly. In
fact they do but you have not yet learned to see
them, that comes with grade two. In grade three
you are once more put to the test and given
opportunities to "stretch your faith". Eventually you
get to that place where "Whatsoever ye shall ask
in prayer, believing, ye shall receive".
What a promise! What a reward! What a way to go!

Aneurysms
A Leak In Your Circulatory System
PART 9 of 9
PREVENTION: Control of high blood pressure may help
prevent some aneurysms. Control of all risk factors
associated with atherosclerotic disease (diet, exercise,
and cholesterol control) may help prevent aneurysms or
their complications. What can you expect? With successful
surgical repair, the outlook is often excellent. As soon as
you suspect something isn't right, go to a doctor and have
it checked out. Time is very important and can make a
huge difference! Again as always, lifestyle is crucial. Start
eating a Mediterranean diet with lots of olive oil and fresh
fruits and vegetables. And make a commitment to
eliminate less than healthy foods from your life. Get an
exercise program started AFTER you have been checked
out by a medical specialist if you suspect any of these
symptoms. Don't do this on your own. But if you feel you
are healthy and need to change your lifestyle, find some
reliable information and start. It all begins with one
commitment and one action.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

That was fine with Ng. "We have three more
days travel then we in Lhasa. There are this rest
area plus two more then we in city. If you could
make yourselves invisible at each rest area and
also if they saw anyone on the trail, that would
be good."
"We will do that Ng. I'm sensing that you
would like to stop at the rest area and tell them
about the avalanche. Am I right?"
"Yes, Miss Mae. Travelers do not know of it
and should be told here. Some may want to turn
back. This is the place to make that decision. If
they do not know they will take a long time to get
to the slide."
"Why don't Miss Sue and I go on until dark? We
will find a place to stay the night and we will be
fine. You can catch up with us in the morning."
"Are you sure, Miss Mae? Miss Susan?"
"You go ahead Ng. We will be fine. You know we
can handle ourselves. You go." Susan was
reassuring him, allowing him to do what he wanted.
They continued on their way. In another half
hour Ng told them the rest area was just up ahead.
They all considered there was another three hours
of daylight left.
The ladies rendered themselves invisible and
walked with Ng until they were at the rest area.
They said their good byes and continued on their
way while Ng went inside to spend the night.
He was greeted by the same kind of rest area
they had been in at the times they used a rest
stop. There were no travelers there so Ng had the
keep to himself all night. That meant the keep
would open up and be friendly with Ng.
And Ng had quite a story to tell so the keep
would be interested. The conversation kept them up
long past the time they would usually go to bed.
Ng loved that. He was talking with a man, someone
who understood the land and the life and who was
real interested in the avalanche story. That would
be news up here for the entire season.
The ladies walked until they were well out of
sight of the rest area then became visible again.
They ran into no travelers and enjoyed being just
the two of them again. The air was even becoming
balmy. They were walking in an area that was hit
by the sun for most of the day. They could feel
the heat emanating from the rock.
They walked for another three and a half
hours, having to create their own light, until
they came across a spot that was obviously used as
a night stop over. There was evidence of man made
fires here.
Mae and Sue settled in like old hands at
this. They were actually. They were well
experienced at this kind of life and this was easy
compared to the winter they just saw or the
climbing over the trails to get through the
Himalayas. They set their fire, had a bite to eat
and enjoyed just women talk for a while. It had
been some time since the pair of them were alone.
The pair of them turned in late, just as Ng
was doing. Yet all of the would be up at the same
time in the morning. The ladies didn't know it but
where they decided to stay was a spot that caught
the first rays of sun in the morning. It was light
and warmth that woke them the following morning.
This day was bright. it was going to be a warm
one, although the wind was up even before the
ladies.
Chatting, having a bite to eat in the early
morning sun, and waiting for Ng to appear, ended
up being a real pleasant morning. Ng showed up
around ten. He sat for a short while, had a bite
and a drink, then they were off for another days
travel.
The day was uneventful. With continual walking
at an average pace they thought they covered a
distance of 30 miles this day. That was a far cry
from the day it took coming up the stream where
they took more than that time to cover less than
two miles.
As they were walking they passed one more rest
area and carried on. The ladies made themselves
invisible for that passage, too.
That night they slept on a grassy knoll. They
were beginning to see more vegetation, more birds
and more insects. They were going down to a point
where the temperature and moisture conditions
permitted this growth.
Ng was smirking on the inside. He knew he had
a surprise for the two ladies. Coming into Lhasa
from this trail one came by way of a plain that
was immediately beside the mountains. The
elevation was still very high, but the plain was
on the same general level as Lhasa. Tomorrow
the ladies would have their first view of the city
and that from a high hilltop, giving them a
wonderful view of the city. It was really quite a
sight after so many months of seeing virtually no
communities at all.
He woke the ladies.

HA! HA! HA!
The truck driver looked suspiciously at the soup he had just
been served in an eatery. It contained dark flecks of
seasoning, but two of the spots were suspicious.
"Hey," he called out to the waitress, "these particles in
my soup, aren't they foreign objects?"
She scrutinized his bowl.
"No, sir!" she reassured him. "Those things live
around here."
