The US Navy knows. According to them, a "boat" is a vessel
that can be hauled aboard a "ship." Most of us, however, refer
to large vessels as either ships or boats.

OPTIMIZE LIFE NOW!™
with Dr. Rhoberta Shaler
---------------------

Prosperity Begins Between Your Ears

If you're waiting for someone or something to give you what you
want in life, you'll wait a long time!

Prosperity is something you create. No one gives it to you. So,
stop waiting and get on with making it happen.

What are you thinking about right now? Is it a negative
thought? Let's make some distinctions: the truth is neutral.
It is neither negative or positive. Judgments are. So often we
fill our head with judgments rather than with the truth or
creative thoughts. This is the most practical advice I can give
you: only think about the truth to assess your current situation
AND then focus only on what you want to create to improve it.
Allow no 'gloom and doom' thoughts. Why? Because, you guessed
it, What You Pay Attention to Expands! That's why I wrote the
book.

Monitor your thoughts for an hour or so. How many are positive,
charged with purpose and clarity? It is reported that the
average child up to the age of six, I think, hears 437 negative
messages a day. This is a putrid training ground for negativity.
So, you can be excused if you are still talking to yourself in
negative terms....until this minute, that is! No more.

If you want to be prosperous, you must change your thinking. I
was working with a coaching client and, during our first call,
I heard, "I just can't decide what I need to do. Life is
passing me by. I have no self-discipline, no relationship and
little self-esteem. Nothing in my life is working. I do not
have enough money." Those were statements of truth to him. My
first question was "What do you most want?" He did not know
where to start. In point of fact, his first statements were
more felt than accurate. As we worked, it became clear that he
had many habits that served him well, that were working for him.
He exercised regularly and gave himself no credit because he
did it to blow off steam. He did not let people walk all over
him, so, his self-esteem put up some very healthy boundaries.
It became clear to me that my client, Kevin, was a
perfectionist. That's trouble. It's both dangerous and
unattainable.

So, we began to talk about prosperity. If he believed that his
first statements about himself were the truth, could it be that
he was keeping those things in place in two ways: talking about
them as facts repeatedly, and, not taking any action steps to
change his situation? Begrudgingly, he agreed.

He was holding those things in place in his mind by repeating
them to himself daily. No wonder everything in his life had
become a downer. Time for a change--A change to prosperity
thinking. The dictionary says that prosperity is 'the
condition of being successful or thriving'. You can be
prosperous. Change your thinking today and see for yourself.
Here are some tips:

WHAT YOU PAY ATTENTION TO EXPANDS

Listen to your conversation in your head and with others. What
are you saying? What are you focusing on? It's not the glass
half empty or full, it's what's filling it that counts! It is
your turn of mind. NEWS FLASH! You can change it at will.

If it has become a habit for you to bad mouth, poor mouth or
nay say, STOP! That's what is going into your consciousness.
Your subconscious mind works in pictures. You say, "I do not
smoke" and your subconscious pictures, "I smoke". It has no
picture for 'not'! If you want to stop smoking, make a mental
picture of yourself smoke-free, with pink healthy lungs, bright
eyes and great self-esteem.

Beware. You are the painter of the pictures in your mind. Paint
the ones you want and never take your eyes off them!

Accept the creative power of your mind and focus it on your
goals.

BELIEVE THAT YOU DESERVE TO THRIVE

In the western culture, many people have difficulties with this.
It's all very convoluted. Many seem to believe that declaring
that they are good at things is bragging, conceit or arrogance.
Declaring that they deserve nothing but good seems outrageous.
WRONG! It is only when we think that we are superior to or more
deserving than others that arrogance enters the picture. It's
not about them. It's about you.

You are here to demonstrate your deeply-held values and
contribute your talents. That simple. That's what makes the
world a pleasant, safe place. How can you do that if you are not
fully expressing yourself? If you're living small and thinking
negatively?

Not only do you deserve to thrive, you are supposed to thrive.
All the conditions for that begin between your ears.

STEP OUT AND BEHAVE "AS IF"

What would you do, say, wear, want and think if you had all the
success you could imagine? Start behaving that way.

One day I was giving a seminar and a thought hit me. I asked
the group, "Do you have anything at home that you are "saving
for good"? Clothes, dishes, crystal, linens, food, jewelry?"
Everyone said that they had...almost proudly. Then, I asked
them, "Has anyone every told you to 'Have a Good Day'? Of
course, they laughed. Each time someone tells you to have a
good day is a reminder to treat yourself well. Use what you're
saving 'for good' today. Make it a 'good' day. Give yourself
the pleasure that these things are meant to bring. Set a
beautiful table for yourself. Wear all your clothes. Enjoy your
jewelry. Go out for a good meal. Treat yourself as the most
important person you know because you are. Without you, where
would you be?

Prosperity thinking begins by believing you deserve to thrive
and be successful. It continues by focusing only on what you
want and where you want to go. And, it's all between your ears.

Diabetic Clinics And A Few
Concerns To Share
PART 6 of 6

By studying more along these lines, you can make better
decisions. After all it is your body: no one else’s and
you will have to live with the results of all you put
into your body. But I want to remind you of the
American Medical Association’s (AMA) recommendations.
You do not have to continue to live with a degenerative
condition unless you choose
to. http://jama.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/abstract/287/
23/3127

Don’t get “degeneration” confused with “aging”. They
are not the same. Having a degenerative condition is
not inevitable or unavoidable. It is preventable.
(Didn’t the AMA say so?) But you have to be on the
lookout for what might be contributing to this
degeneration. Could it be that your body isn’t getting
enough proper nutrients?  Our environment is filled
with irritants: seen and unseen. Are you on a weight
management program? At least make sure that the
calories you take in provide some nutrients that your
body can turn into energy/fuel. Recognize also that any
changes in your body from incorrect or chemically
loaded products can easily lead to changes in your
chemistry unknowingly.

Next time your local food store or pharmacy holds a
health clinic, check it out. Test your knowledge and
find out what is new. I think you will find that
chemicals and drugs are not the only answer. Here’s to
your new determination to focus on health.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------

Up early and raring to go Susan wanted to go
to the Potala Palace, the home of all the Dalai
Lamas. It was known as the jewel at the top of the
world and was the absolute center of Tibetan
Buddhist religion. At one time it was the seat of
government for Tibet.

It was the center of a pilgrimage every year
for thousands of Buddhists.

The Palace is built on a high rocky hill known
as Red Hill, and it towers over everything in the
valley. Next to the mountains it is the dominant
feature on the landscape.

Made up of two distinct sections, the red
section and white sections surrounding the red
section it is a monstrous place containing over
1000 rooms.

The red section is made from red rock and the
white, similarly from rock, but white. The
construction is rock and wood with the average
wall being three feet thick.

This is what Susan wanted to see. She was
pestering Mae and Ng to hurry and finish their
morning meal so they could get under way.

The trio walked over to the beginning of the
Palace grounds, which began down at the level of
the city. There was a very large portico or square
all leveled off, across which they walked. This
square was used for many a celebration. The scale
of this entire complex was immense. They were able
to spot the entrance way to a set of stairs, far
across the square.

The stairs were long and winding. There had to
be hundreds of them. It seemed to both Mae and
Susan they were climbing the stairs for half the
day. The higher they climbed the more of the city
they could overlook. This time they had a view of
the entire city and it was far larger than one
might expect. It sprawled here and there for some
distance in all directions.

There were rest stops on the stairs, plus they
were built very wide, with fairly tall side walls
made of the same stone the stairs were.

Finally they reached the top and stepped out
onto another portico or square. From there they
could survey the Palace. It was a forboding
multilevel structure that stood tall above them.
They were permitted to enter.

There they saw tall columns, high walls, many
colorful artifacts and religious trappings. The
predominant colors were red and gold with some
green here and there. The hall was huge.

Golden plaques were to be seen here and there
on the walls, some inlaid with precious jewels.
But the piece that took center stage was a floor
to ceiling golden relief of a former Dalai Lama.

Tourists were not permitted throughout the
building, if only for their own safety. The
building was so huge and contained so many rooms a
tourist could easily have become lost. Plus this
monastery was still used by Buddhist Monks and
they simply would permit no interruption to their
daily schedules.

There was an air of calm in the Palace. It had
been constructed for religious purposes many
centuries earlier and was still used for that
purpose today. There was a special calm and
stillness that would cause many to think deep on
what life was about.

The three of them wandered about the Palace
for as long as they could. They were being
approached by a monk who was about to ask them to
leave for the night. He had been doing that to
many others before he approached them.

Suddenly he was on his knees before them,
bowing to the floor at their feet. He had
recognized Mae and Susan for who and what they
were.

Both Mae and Susan had gone through this
before. They were used to it. Susan reached down
and took the monk by his shoulders. Energy passed
from her into him. "Rise up and seek your Maker."
were Sue's words.

The monk was calm and humble but would not
look into Susan's eyes. "Why have you come here
Masters? How can we serve you?"

"We have come only to visit and no other
purpose. We have come with a friend."

"Would you care to come to visit our group?"
The monk appeared to want that to happen.

Mae and Susan looked at Ng. He nodded
affirmatively.

"We will come."

With that the monk led them through a doorway
and into a long hall. From there they climbed many
sets of stairs until finally they came to a great
hall.

Inside there were hundreds of monks, all
seated for a meal. There was a head table where
ten or more were seated and from there were
several rows of tables perpendicular to the head
table.

HA! HA! HA!

My friends and I had joined a weight-loss organization. At
one meeting the instructor held up an apple and a candy bar.
"What are the attributes of this apple," she asked, "and how
do they relate to our diet?"

"Low in calories" and "lots of fiber" were among the answers.
She then detailed what was wrong with eating candy, and
concluded, "Apples are not only more healthful but also less
expensive. Do you know I paid 75 cents for this candy bar?"
We stared as she held aloft the forbidden treat.

From the back of the room a small voice spoke up, "I'll give
you a dollar for it."
