Why does the okapi eat clay?
The okapi is a grazer that feeds on buds, leaves, grasses,
fruits, ferns, fungi, and shoots. Some of what it eats is
known to be poisonous to humans. The okapi has also been
sighted eating clay found along river banks. It's believed
that the animal eats the clay to counteract the poisonous
properties of some of the rest of its diet.
How many different species are on our planet?
Until recently, scientists estimated that Earth is home to
as many as 15 million species. However, new research by John
Alroy, a paleontologist at the University of California at
Santa Barbara, suggests that the number of different species
might be much lower. Alroy suspects the true number of
distinct organisms is more like 10.5 million at most, nearly
a third less than earlier estimated. Why the huge
discrepancy? According to Alroy, it's bad accounting. Some
species end up with more than one name and it can take a
very long time to figure that out and delete one of them.
Alroy bases his new estimate on his close examination of the
fate of names in one particular group of fossil mammals.

Vatican throws out China bishops
The Vatican has excommunicated two bishops who were
illegally ordained by China's breakaway Catholic Church.
Pope Benedict had expressed his "deep displeasure" over the
appointments.
In a statement released by the Vatican, he said the
ordinations, backed by Beijing, represented a "grave
violation of religious freedom".
The rift comes as Beijing and the Vatican had been holding
talks with the aim of re-establishing relations, which were
severed more than 50 years ago.
There are an estimated 10 million Catholics in China,
divided between the officially tolerated Patriotic Church,
and an underground church loyal to Rome.
The Chinese Church does not recognise the Vatican's power to
appoint bishops, causing tensions between the two sides.
On Wednesday, Liu Xinhong was consecrated at a church in
Anhui province in eastern China, while on Sunday the state
church ordained Ma Yinglin as a bishop in the south-western
province of Yunnan.
'Threats'
The Vatican statement said the ordinations were "a grave
wound to the unity of the Church" and warned of "severe
canonical sanctions".
The statement was unusually strong in tone, says the BBC's
David Willey in Rome, and makes it clear that the Vatican,
while open to what it calls "honest and constructive
dialogue", will not tolerate unilateral acts by the Chinese
Church.
The Vatican also said it had received information that
bishops had come under "strong pressure and threats" to take
part in the ordinations.
If that was proved, our correspondent says, the
excommunications could be suspended.
Asked to comment on the statement, China's foreign ministry
told Reuters news agency:
"The Vatican's condemnation makes no sense. We hold a
sincere attitude towards improving Sino-Vatican relations
and have made active efforts. We hope the Vatican side can
support a good environment for improvement of the
relationship."
The Chinese government acts in its own interest and so does
the Catholic Church

Third ordination
China is planning to ordain an auxiliary bishop later this
month, a senior official of the state-sanctioned church told
the AFP news agency.
Pei Junmin would be ordained later this month as auxiliary
bishop of the diocese in the north-east province of
Liaoning, said Liu Bainian, vice-chairman of the Chinese
Catholic Patriotic Association.
Secret talks have been taking place in recent months between
envoys from both sides.
China has said it would like better relations with the
Vatican, but wants the Holy See to cut its diplomatic links
with Taiwan first.
Diplomatic ties were severed in 1951 after the 1949
Communist takeover in China and subsequent crackdown on
religion.

Feed it well. Eliminate unnecessary toxins or non
productive foods. Avoid any type of dieting while you
are healing. Your body needs all the healthy, adequate,
and proper nutrients it can find. Put aside any foods
that do not promote health and healing. Opt for water,
milk, and real juices. Eliminate empty calories as
found in soft drinks and snacks. Restore needed calcium
through proper foods. Makes sure any supplements you
use are able to assimilate with your nutritional
intake. Seriously consider supplementing with a high
quality vitamin & mineral product that promotes optimum
amounts. If you don’t restore the calcium, other body
functions may be at risk, but be aware of that an
over-abundance in one nutrient may cause an
under-abundance in another. This may be the time to
start studying nutrition seriously.
If you go back and look at the way your body stays
healthy, you will know how to care for it. Once the
feeding and care of your body is set in motion, you can
expect the normal functions to be able to resume
eventually. There is a lot to be done to keep your
bones healthy or get your life back to normal. As you
have read through this information, I hope you noticed
that never once was anyone but “you” implied as your
body's master for health or healing. This is your body.
These are your bones. You have the power of keeping
them healthy or restoring them to health if something
goes wrong. Prepare now to be healthy and live a long
and relaxed and happy lifestyle. You are in charge of
“you”. Your bones depend on you and you depend on your
bones.

4Now for the story
Mae Wiley rose to speak. "Think not this concept of
higher law is a figment of imagination. Consider the freedom
of no longer being tied to man's bondage in pursuit of
material goods. Consider too, that your life can be simple,
peaceful and happy. All these things come with calming
yourself, going inside and learning to commune with your
Maker. All other things in life serve only to feed ego,
pride and greed. Those things will eventually fall away and
you are left with nothing. Instead place your treasure with
your Maker inside for then you will gain life.
I spent years thinking that money was the answer to all
my needs and desires. You know how foolish that ended up. To
think that money is the be all end all is like a foolish
child that hordes chocolate on a hot summer day. All you get
is a mess, but when it messes up your life it can be most
unpleasant.
Higher law is for all men. It is there anytime man
decides he wants to learn. In this all men are equal. It is
available to all who wish to see regardless of station or
education.
I will miss you folks. I do hope you enjoyed looking in
on us. I ask you to come join us. Good bye."
Mae sat back down.
Romano rose. "I was dead. I had given my life over to
sex, drugs, stealing, harming and maiming those who were
outside the gang with whom I lived. In fear one day I
stabbed a man several times. It was clear to anyone who
looked that I was on a path to self destruction. It is only
the love offered to me by a man who lives by higher law that
I live today.
When I first began to look into my Maker's
world I did not believe. No one had shown me higher law
before. I saw no one who practiced it, until one day I
realized the quiet giant I was speaking with lived by those
standards. He showed me how giving causes me to reap what I
want out of life. He showed me how taking eventually leads
to death.
I decided to try to live by higher law. In so
doing I knew I would have trouble with the gang. There we
had taken a pledge of allegiance unto death. When I said i
was leaving, that is what they did. They came very close to
killing me. Only my friend and his wife saved me.
Today I am the husband of the daughter of the man I stabbed. Both my
wife and her Mother and Father live by higher law. We know
things are possible for mankind that man has not yet
contemplated. When you live by higher law you are secure,
peaceful, happy. You can have all you want without selling
your soul to a dollar bill or any man who offers such.
Good bye, and thank you for sharing with us. We hope you
are able to see new things available to you. Oomano and I
send unto you, our love."
Romano sat back down.
Sam looked all around the fire circle. There appeared to
be no movement. Then David Wiley stood up.
"Folks, there is no greater skeptic than I. My partner
at the time was sitting under a tree meditating, communing
with her Maker. I looked at her and as far as I was
concerned I thought she was perfectly nuts. Here we were in
a jungle. We had no idea where we were or how to get out of
there. We had no idea how to live or survive and all she
could do was sit under that tree and talk with her Maker. I
was angry, frustrated. All I wanted was to get home to all
the money that was there waiting for me. As it proved out I
had no clue what I was doing. It was only by going inside
that Eloise was able to find her Maker. There she found the
way, the only way to living by higher law.
She did things I thought no person could do. She was
doing weird things like manifesting water, food and tools.
Of course I KNEW there was no possible way she could do
this. No man can. Yet there in front of me, at every turn,
was the things I needed right then to do what I was doing.
It is only through her knowledge and her love that I
survived. It is only through her learning higher law that I
survived.
When we did get home I came into a great deal of money.
I KNEW I had my answer. I KNEW I had power over men. I found
out different. I found money only attracts bondage, thieves,
decay. When I decided to move here to this village I also
decided I was going to learn higher law. I have no idea why
I was so blatantly stupid before. Here, all that I wanted I
had all the time. All I had to do was look. That path is
available to all men. You too. I encourage you to read,
learn, study, commit. I can promise peace, happiness,
prosperity. It is all there for those who look. Thank you
for being our guest. Good bye. I offer you my love and my
blessings."
David returned to his place next to Pam and Mae.
Sam looked around. There were tears in many eyes. All
present did not want to close this chapter in their lives.
Each wanted to continue with this window remaining open that
you might witness their lives. Yet they all knew that change
is constant and good. It is time for each of you to consider
working with these things in your own life. You can write us

"Folks, it is with heavy hearts that we say good bye. We
have enjoyed having you with us, and we hope to be with you
soon. Our little story is not for your entertainment,
although I suppose you could use it for such. It is to show
you there are different ways man can live, any man. It
really all comes down to you making a choice in your own
life.
Remember, if you would like to live as we do, that is
by choice, your choice. Within the pages of this story lie
all the answers you will ever need to turn your life into
something you and others will think beautiful. I offer you

been running the story nearly everyday for over four years.
Actually this last day of the story is day 1413.
The story has spawned one book, with another in the process
of being printed. The intent is to have four books printed, then
write up a "summary" book dealing with all the "life's lessons"
and "spiritual lessons" found in those four.

This man was going up to bed when his wife told him that
he'd left the light on in the garden shed which she could
see from the bedroom window. Then he looked for himself
and saw that there were people in the shed stealing things.
He phoned the police, but they told him that no one was in
his area to help, so he said ok, hung up, counted to 30,
and phoned the police again...
"Hello. I just called you a few seconds ago because there
were people in my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about
them now cause I've just shot them all!"
Within five minutes there were half a dozen police cars in
the area, an Armed Response unit, the works. Of course,
they caught the burglars red-handed.
One of the policeman said to this man: "I thought you said
that you'd shot them!!"
He replied, "I thought you said there was nobody available!"
