Why are there so many negative terms to
describe left-handers?
You didn't know there were? Left-handers have
been referred to as everything from "sinistrals"
(from the Latin, "sinister", which actually MEANS
"left" as well as "unlucky") to "bongo" (Romany,
meaning "evil" or "crooked") to "cack-handed"
(British English, meaning "excrement-handed" from
the Muslim tradition of using the left hand to clean
oneself and the right for eating). Why are there so
many not-so-nice names? For a number of reasons.
First, left-handers have always been in the minority,
so there's a rather human tendency to be suspicious
of anything or anyone that doesn't conform to what
the majority is doing. Left-handers, in fact, have
been discriminated against, banned, and even
burned at the stake as witches. As recently as a few
decades ago, left-handed children were forced by
their parents and teachers to write with their right
hands, no matter how difficult or uncomfortable that
was for them. Another theory about why left-handers
were seen as "sinister" has to do with shaking hands.
The story goes that shaking hands originated as a way
of proving to the person you were meeting that you
didn't have a dagger you were going to stab them with.
Most people are right-handed, so they would stab you
with their right and prove they had no stabbing intentions
by shaking with their right. When a lefty shook with his
left hand, there was always the possibility in the mind
of the other person that he'd pull a dagger with his right.
Do animals prefer one paw over another?
Individual animals might, but generally the paw an
animal uses is determined by the placement of the
object they're reaching for. Only humans exhibit a
marked preference for one hand (the right one, of course)
over the entire species. There has long been a myth of
a left-handed culture, but in fact humans are more likely
to be right-handed all over the world.

A Lesson From The Masters

Remember when you were growing up and an adult would do
something that contradicted what they'd been telling you?
Their first response would be, "Do as I say, not as I do."
Well, forget the number.
We learn more through observation than we could ever learn
by listening.
So what does that have to do with marketing?
Everything.
If you think you're going to build your business by
listening to pearls of wisdom and following what all the
successful marketers are trying to tell you, forget about
it.
You'll learn 100 times more by having the eyes of a hawk.
The old martial arts masters knew that. Their students
learned by watching their moves and trying to mimic them.
The Zen masters talk about it when they say, "He has the
smell of books."
The same thing applies on the battlefield.
Do you want to have your life in the hands of a college
educated officer, or someone who's been in the trenches.
The same rules apply to building your online business.
Stop listening to what the heavy hitters say and start
watching what they do.
Many times we hear the same advice from a ton of experts,
but if we watch closely we may see that sometimes what they
say doesn't match what they do.
What are you going to build your business by, their words
or their actions?
As far as I'm concerned "Actions Speak Louder Than Words."
Do you want to write better ads?
Study the ads that pull.
Want to write better articles and reports?
Study the ones that get read.
I think you get the idea.
Become an observer of successful actions. Keep your eyes
open and start taking notes on what really works.
The Internet is a powerful learning tool. Everything is in
the open for you to absorb.
It's a fr*e*e apprenticeship.

This virus affects about 30% of a "population. That means
30% of your associates could get the flu. It means that
30% of the work won't get done or will be done not as
efficiently.. It means 30% of your coworkers will become
"incubators" for a short while. Can you see why prevention
is very important? But not everyone needs the vaccination.
So find out if you are considered "high risk". There are
arguments against having this vaccination, so be informed.
If you don't need it, don't do it, but if you do need it, then
do it. What are you being vaccinated against? Influenza
is caused by a group of viruses divided into three
classes: A, B or C. Influenza A and B are the major
causes of severe illness and death related to the flu.
The strains of the viruses may mutate / change from
one year to the next. This is why flu outbreaks are a
yearly event. Immunity to last year’s flu does not protect
you from this year’s new strains. Influenza A virus, the
strongest/most virulent, is responsible for widespread
pandemics (worldwide) and epidemics (regional). The
virus changes itself and you find yourself unprotected
and susceptible to infection despite prior immunity to
previous strains of the A virus. Influenza B virus is also
responsible for a significant amount of the flu-related
illnesses, although it is less likely to cause death. The
B virus tends to cause more localized outbreaks of flu
with fewer complications. Each year’s influenza vaccine
contains three virus strains (usually two type A's and
one type B) representing the influenza viruses that are
most likely to circulate in the coming winter.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

"When Eloise and Mazunta got married they invited
Ben and Helen Striker, Jim and Hilda White and their
next door neighbor, Susan Miles to the wedding. They
had a wonderful time." said David.
"You mean the Police Chief of Pinehill was here?"
asked Bob, somewhat surprised.
Bob Hunter was receiving an education on how closed
minded he had been in the past and was having a look
at all the things he missed because of it. He did not like
what he was seeing and hearing, and vowed, within
himself, not to miss out on any of it again. He was learning
life went on without him and outside his thinking. The
world did not wait for Bob Hunter, or anyone.
"Yes, Ben and Helen spent quite a bit of time here, and
they've been back once since." said David.
"Daddy, David is real good at carving. He carved some
canoes for the village, here, and Ben Striker thought
them so nice he was going to talk to the town council
about having him carve a statue they want for Memorial
Day. It won't be this year but likely next." said Pam.
"Gee, there has been a lot going on." said Bob.
"Eloise's wedding brought a lot of folks here. She knows
people from all over the world. It was some
wedding." answered Pam.
"The village really put themselves out for that one."
said Mae, "But then these villagers are the warmest,
nicest people I know. You will see."
"Are you going to do the statue, David?" asked Bob.
"Only when they agree to put the money they would
pay me into a charity of my choice. They are finding
that hard to do. Something about city policy and all
that." replied David, "I'll do it. I just don't need the money
and a friend of ours in Matto Grosso , down river, knows
where there is a big need."
The warm sun and the bright day had everyone in the
village happy, even excited. Tonight would be the first
fire in many a night. They were hit and miss in the
rainy season.
"Come, let's look around. We'll show you where we
live." said Pam.
With that they rose, except Mae, who was looking after
Mae Eloise. They began their tour of the village, with
Pam pointing out who lived in what hut. She pointed
to the hut Bob and Lynn would use tonight for sleeping.
So Bob and Lynn poked their heads in the door to
see what it was like.
There was not much inside. There was a raised platform
covered entirely with woven palm leaves, that served
as a bed. The floor was made of similar construction
and raised off the earth. That was all that was there.
Both Bob and Lynn looked at one another, as if to say
"My God, do we have to sleep on that?"
Saying nothing they continued.
They walked by Mazunta's and Eloise's place, saying
hi and stopping for a short visit. Then they saw the big
house where the elders met. They walked past the
town common where preparations were under way
for the evening fire. Then they walked out to the
beach by the river.
There were a bunch of the village kids playing their
never ending game of ball on the beach. Little Maz
was among them. He couldn't keep up to the bigger
kids but he was there running with them. Every once
in a while one of the bigger kids would kick the ball
to him and he would kick it.
The group walked down to the waters edge where
the canoes were beached.
"These are the canoes David carved. This is his first
one, with Midnight on the prow. You haven't seen
Midnight yet have you?" Pam asked.
"No, but I assume Midnight is a cat." said Lynn.
"Yes, Mom, she's a nice cat. She is a black panther,
just like that on the canoe. David carved her life size,
so she is that big, too. David and Eloise found her
and befriended her when they were on that journey
they took. When they were leaving, to come home,
Midnight followed. So they put her in the canoe and
brought her here. This is the village of a man they
met on that journey. He had been out hunting and the
river came up quickly, taking his canoe. He found
David and Eloise and he and David carved a canoe
to come home here. His name is Boolanga. You
haven't met him yet."
