TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------
Is it true that Hitler designed the Volkswagon Beetle?
Were Adolf Hitler and Eva Braun ever married?
--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
Why did King James II ban golf?
King James II allegedly banned golf in England and
Scotland in 1457 because he was concerned that the
sport distracted men from the archery practice necessary
for national defense. Why do I say "allegedly"? Well,
it seems that King Edward III of England in 1366
ALSO banned a sport to prevent his subjects from
being distracted from their archery practice. King Edward III
is said to have outlawed bowling. His soldiers, no longer
able to bowl, kept the sport alive by marking down "strike"
and "spare" whenever enemies were killed or wounded,
respectively. Two kings doing the exact same (unusual)
thing to preserve archery? Hmmm.....sounds like a legend.
Is it true that after World War II some Japanese soldiers
continued to hide out for decades, convinced the war
was still happening?
Yes. Several small groups of Japanese soldiers continued
to fight long after the end of World War II, unwilling or
unable to believe that Japan could have actually
surrendered. Most of these soldiers were taught that
surrender was NEVER an option. The most famous of
these was Intelligence Officer 2nd Lt. Hiroo Onoda who
emerged from the jungle of Lubang Island with his weapons
nearly three decades after Japan's surrender. Lt. Onoda
and a small band of fellow soldiers were the only survivors
of an American attack on the island near the close of the
war. After the war, they continued to hide out and refused
to believe the fighting was over, even when planes flew
overhead dropping leaflets telling them the war was over.
This seemed to them to be an obvious trick by the enemy
to lure them out. Search parties, often including relatives
of the soldiers, were also unsuccessful in convincing the
dedicated soldiers that Japan had surrendered. By 1974,
Lt. Onada was the only one left. One day he approached
a young Japanese man who was surprised to meet the
mythical "Onoda-san". Soon Onoda returned to Japan as
a hero, who had fought bravely. Unfortunately, after
returning to Japan, he was unable to adapt to modern
life and retired to a ranch in Brazil. He revisited
Lubang Island in 1996.

Cornpone and Treewood
by Ken Darby
Cornpone Taggart and Hamstrung Treewood are a
couple country hicks. Cornpone, known as "Pone" or
"Old Pone" earns his living on the internet, and has
since he left what schooling he had. He's a lazy cuss,
and figured the internet was the way to earn the kind
of living he wanted. He thought it beat the backbreaking
sweat soaking work that was the kind you could
get in his town.
Hamstrung Treewood, didn't pay much attention to
computers in school and went out to work in the
backbreaking world in town. He had been without
work for a while and Pone was teaching him how to
set up a business on the internet.
The story continues.
----------------------------------------
"Strung, whys yous always arushin' aroun' an'
stuff?" asked Cornpone Taggart.
Conrpone had been in to the local general store
to pick up supplies before he went out to his favorite
tree in the town common to sit for most of the day.
"Wha's yous means Pone?" asked Hamstrung
Treewood, breathlessly.
"Wells, looks a' yous. Yous is all outta breath, an
yous ain' gone nowhere yet." said Pone, teasingly.
"Pone yous knows I's runs everwhere I's goes
acausin of tryin' ta git me some exercise. Now
don' go ateasin' me, y'hear?" said Strung realizing
what Pone was up to.
The pair of them sauntered over to Pone's favorite
tree, and sat in their usual places.
"Gees, Pone, yous agittin the very ground in that
there spot all worked into jus' the right shape fer ta
be a chair there fer yous." observed Strung.
"I's aguessin' tha's from being here alot Strung, cause
I's ain' done nuthin to it. answered Pone.
"Strung is yous usein' them auttyresponders ta yer
best advantage?" asked Pone.
"I's athinkin' so, Pone. Why does yous
ask?" answered Strung.
"Causin' mos' folks don' even use them at all and its
such a great way ta git the message out I's jus'
awonderin if yous is on topo yer game." said Pone.
"Hows yer writin' comin'?"
"Is jus' don' rightly knows, Pone. I's atryin' ta do some
writin' but I's don' know how others sees it." said Strung.
"Well I's agonna start havin' a look at yer nex' coupla

fer the nex' step."
"Pone, Is agotta git me home ta run some chores.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS -
SEXUAL CLEANLINESS AND OTHER MATTERS
OVER FORTY.
PART 1 of 5
My partner is turning 60
male
he has never been circumcised
and has a lot of extra foreskin which always had no problems. He
now has problems that it has tightened so much as to not go over
the head of the penis. During intercourse when the foreskin slips
over the head, it's hard to get back over it
also it is very dry with
almost cracks in it. The head of the penis is brighter red...could
you answer on this...Thanks Nancy.
Hello Nancy, I want to make three comments and make them with
respect, but also with fun. OK? This is a serious subject, but not
a serious condition. Firstly, I want to congratulate you both that you
are still at the stage of lovemaking. (Do I sound like Dear Abbey?).
Seriously, I am around so many people into their fifties and sixties
for whom this part of their lives is finished and it needn't be. So
good for you both! Secondly, ageing is a sensitive discussion, but
the process continues whether or not we want it to. In this process,
most, if not all, body functions slow down and fluids, such as the
natural lubricants of the body dry up. Again, this is a natural
process. Most men would never discuss this, but many men do
have this problem. Thirdly, the area needs to be kept clean
at all times.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET
<><><><>
THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

----------------------------------------
"What a wonderful wedding that was." said Mae Wiley,
and she began to describe the event, including naming
the guests that had come down from Pinehill.
"You mean Jim White? That preacher that was thrown
out of the church for believing the Henrys?" asked Bob.
"The very same Jim White, Mr. Hunter." answered
Eloise, realizing he had forgotten she was a Henry.
Bob Hunter became all red in the face, flustered, and
embarrassed. He had just committed the faux pas of
his life and he knew he would not outlive this one.
"Damn, my big mouth!" he said to himself.
"I'm sorry Eloise. I just remembered the Whites as having
been ousted by their church because they believed in and
defended your family. I remember thinking at the time
that it served the turncoat right." said Bob, digging himself
in further.
"Is he a turncoat, Mr. Hunter? In our very own home, Jim
and Hilda White met Jesus. Jim began to see that living
by higher law is what Jesus taught. And, so, he made the
decision to stand for the truth as he saw it. Is that being a
turncoat?" Eloise asked. She went on, "Do you sincerely
believe the church is teaching what Jesus
taught, Mr. Hunter?"
"Apparently his Board of Elders didn't think much
of it." said Bob.
"Are you saying his Board of Elders then, know full well
what Jesus taught?" asked Eloise, painting Bob Hunter
into a corner from which he would never free himself.
Bob Hunter knew he was beaten. There was nothing he
could say to recover himself and he knew he would never
win any discussion with Eloise. Her reputation was known
far and wide. She was known for her knowledge, her
wisdom, her loving caring for others. He could not fight
with her and win.
"Eloise, I am sorry." he said with a great deal of humility.
"I got all caught up in what the church was then doing. It
cost me my daughter, friendship with her husband, your
family and a great deal of strife. I am not used to your way
of things. At the time the church was teaching us it was
wrong. Now, I'm not so sure. What happened just now
was a throwback to those days. With Pam and David
coming home, then bringing us down here, by higher
law, - - - w - w- well, there had just been so much happen
to us in the last four days it is hard for me to take it all in.
I am sorry. Before we came down here I visited your Mom
and Dad and we had a wonderful time. I do not want to
spoil that. I'm sorry."
"Mr. Hunter. I am not mad. I know what happened. I know
you have been through a lot in the last four days. I hope
it was all wonderful. I was only trying to say that the law
by which we live will find you out. If you do harm to
someone, even in your own mind, then harm will be
done to you openly. That is what Jesus was trying to say
when he asked you to pray in your closet where others
do not see you, then your Father will reward you openly.
Think no evil of anyone, Mr. Hunter, and you will find
life much easier and prosperous." said Eloise.
No one had expected that conversation to happen. It
just came right out of the blue, like lightning. Eloise
remained calm and held her composure. She participated
only to the degree Bob Hunter had to see and think
about what he had said.
Without rancor or recourse she changed the subject
completely and inquired of her Mom and Dad.
Bob told her they were fine and were thinking of coming
down here soon. "They say they haven't seen you for a
while. Do they know you are expecting?"
"Most certainly yes. Mom and Dad were the first ones we
told. Then we told Maz's Mom and Dad. Everyone is excited
about it and looking forward to grandchildren. The village
seems especially excited about it." Eloise responded.
"I don't mean to break up this party, but we are going to
get wet soon!" said David, "I think it is time we were back
on the water and on our way home."
Packing up they all made their way down to the river's
edge and to the canoes. The seating arrangements were
the same as when they came. Canoes packed, they
shoved off, on their homeward journey.

REPORT FOR: November 14/03 - DAY 315
I had an interesting day today. I interviewed a salesman
for our Newsletter Service. He is going to do some thinking
on it as am I. The interview helped put a lot of things into
perspective, as did my wife, today. We had a long talk about
where this is going, or where do we want it to go. I think
things in all ways are beginning to fall into shape.

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY!
"A teacher who is attempting to teach, without inspiring
the pupil with a desire to learn, is hammering on a cold iron."
---- Horace Mann
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
HA! HA! HA!
A butcher is leaning on the counter toward the
close of day when a dog with a basket in its jaws
comes pushing through the door.
"An' wot's this then?" he asked. The dog knocks
the basket sharply into the butcher's shins.
"You dumb dog." As he reaches down to smack
the dog, he notices a note and a ten dollar bill
in the basket.
The scribble on the note asks for three pounds
of his best mince [ground beef]. The butcher figures
this is too easy. He goes to the window and
reaches for the dried up stuff that's been sitting
out all day.
The dog growls at him. The butcher turns around
and, glaring at the pup, gets the best mince from the
fridge. Weighing out about 2 1/2 pounds, he
drops in on the scale with his thumb.
"Hmmmmm, a bit shy. Who'll know?"
Again, the dog growls menacingly. "Alright, alright,"
as he throws on a generous half pound. He wraps
it out, drops it in the basket, and drops in change from
a five. The dog threatens to chew him off at the ankles.
Another five goes in the basket.
The butcher is quite impressed and decides to
follow the piddy pup home. The dog quickly enters
a high-rise buildings, pushes the lift button,
enters the lift, and then pushes the button for the
12th floor. The dog walks down the corridor and
smartly bangs the basket on the door. The
door opens, and the dog's owner screams
at the dog.
"Hey, what are you doing? That's a really smart
dog you've got there," comments the butcher.
"He's a stupid dog--that's the third time this week
he's forgotten his key.
