"Liberty cabbage" was what Americans called sauerkraut
during World War I. The problem with sauerkraut was that
it was a German food and the Germans were the enemy.
Rather than give up the food, Americans renamed it.
Was Saint Patrick Irish?
Actually, no. Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, was
born in 390 in England. He was captured by Irish hooligans
and taken to Ireland as a youth, where he spent several
years in slavery. He eventually was either freed or escaped
and returned to England to study for the priesthood. In 435,
he traveled back to Ireland to organize the Christian church.
He was made the patron saint of Ireland for this work in
converting Ireland to Christianity. March 17th is the day
of his death.

Many Roads Into The Town Square!

While talking with my semi-deaf uncle one evening,
I noticed that his "hearing aid" was actually an earphone
from a transistor radio. The wire had been cut and was
sticking out of his shirt.
"How does that help your hearing?" I asked.
"Don't help my hearing none," he replied.
"Makes people talk louder."
And that is often the key to being successful at what
you are doing.
The tried and true methods may not be so tried and
true with your particular project. If they aren't working
for you, then try other ways. If they don't work try
different ways.
It is when you think a particular formula should work,
and it doesn't, that gets you confused. When one route
to the town square is blocked all you need do is try another.
Provided your methods be honest, it does not matter
how you arrive. What matters is that you arrive.
Don't go telling me I am stating the obvious. If it were
so obvious many more people would be millionaires,
or more successful at what they are doing.
You must stir the imagination. You must search deep
inside you for the answer as to the next route to try, As
you keep trying, you eliminate all the routes that are
blocked to you and each time you get closer to THE ONE
that will work for you.
It is the same old adage, "If at first you don't succeed,
try again." That does not mean, necessarily, that you
continue to try in exactly the same way. When you are
trying to reach an objective, it is the objective that is
important, not the route. You can alter the route.
The gentleman in the joke obviously felt he did not
want to invest in a hearing aid. However he
accomplished his objective by a thoroughly unique
plan, took action and found it worked. Now he can
hear what folks say. That was his objective. He
wanted to hear what people say, without having to
invest in a hearing aid.
You, too, can arrive at the town square, your objective,
when you clearly understand there are - - -

I discussed using this information in the health column, and
my friend brought up a couple of very important points. He
reminded me that in many cultures, men are not routinely
circumcised and also that the practice is not that common in
North America any longer. So it could easily be a common
problem. Also, he writes: "Write the article. We both know
very few men will be standing in line waiting to get a copy,
but I'm sure, if it is presented by their spouse or lover they
will read it and get the treatment they need." Thanks for
asking, Nancy. I admire your courage. Most sincerely…Karin.
The NEXT part of the correspondence… Hi Karin! Thank
you for the information...I am actually a few years younger
than him...but thank you! I guess I was worried about STD's
(sexually transmitted diseases) or something...the foreskin always
went back very easily...and now it really doesn't... and the tip
of the foreskin is so dry with a few noticeable cracks! Whew!
That's a relief! He is worried about having to be circumcised!
And at 60 I'm sure he is....I am wondering...he also has
Type II diabetes…which he refuses to accept and look
after...it's a silent killer which I know...wondering if the affects
from diabetes is having anything to do with any of this. I know
that it can affect erections and has at times, especially keeping
one. He continues life like he doesn't have diabetes, eats
and drinks like if he doesn't think about it, it isn't there! We
aren't married and really just date...he hates the idea of aging
and to him diabetes is aging... Thanks again! Nancy.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

"That is what I thought I saw. It can't be. Nobody can do
that." said Bob as authoritatively as possible.
"Daddy, David did walk on water. He saved Boolong's life
and legs. Did you see his legs after only a few seconds in
the water. It's a good thing David was there, for another
few seconds and Boolong would have been
gone." said Pam.
"Now listen here, Pam. No one can walk on water. No one.
I don't know what happened, but don't you, my own daughter,
try to tell me David walked on water." Bob was becoming
angry. He was thrashing out at anyone in his path.
"You don't have to believe me, Daddy. Believe your own
eyes." said Pam.
"Pam, that's rubbish. It can't be done. That's all there is
to that." said Bob.
David had just come up from the river's edge. He had been
listening because he knew this would surface sometime.
"It's not rubbish Bob. I did walk on water, and so can you.
Here, come with me. I'll show you." said David.
"No way. No I'm not going with you. It can't be done and
it's foolish even talking about it. Can we go for a nap before
supper. I have a lot to think about." he said.
"Sure, Daddy. I'll call you when supper is ready. It will be
a couple hours." answered Pam.
Bob and Lynn Hunter walked over to the guest house.
"Doesn't sound like they are taking that incident very well,
David." said Eloise from behind him.
"No, they aren't. There has been so much happen to him
in the last while I think he has gone into complete denial.
He doesn't even believe what his own eyes told him. He
just doesn't believe. Too bad." said David.
"Let them go have a rest David. It will be a break from all
this. In time their minds will settle in." said Mazunta.
Bob and Lynn were talking in the guest hut.
"You can't walk on water, Lynn, I don't care what you
say." he was saying.
"I know dear, but what did we see. That was no dream.
We were there. They were both on the water, and did you
see how Boolong's leg was eaten away? Half the calf
was missing. Yet when David escorted him to the canoe
it was whole again. I don't know what to make of it." Lynn said.
"I don't either Honey. Something is going on. We've seen
much of what David can do. Look at how we got here.
These are all the things Sam Henry and his family have
done and what the church objected to. I'm having a very
hard time with this. I just don't believe you can walk on
water. I know it says in the bible that Jesus did it, but that
was different." he said.
"How is it different Bob?" asked Lynn, "You know, when
you really think about it, how is it different?"
"What do you mean?" he asked.
"I'm not, here, trying to say that all they do is right. I'm just
not sure on that stuff. But now you mention the bible, tell
me, how is Jesus walking on water any different than
David walking on water? They were both men." said Lynn.
"But, but Jesus is the Son of God. He can do
anything!" said Bob.
"I know all that, but David says this is what Jesus came
to teach and that the church has been telling us the wrong
things. David says we should listen to Jesus, not
the church. What do you think?" she said.
"Are you saying the church is not teaching what Jesus
taught?" he asked.
"I'm not saying it, David is." Lynn replied.
"You can't be serious. You mean that for over a thousand
years the church has been teaching people the wrong
information? Why? What for?" Bob asked, somewhat
naively.
"I'm saying that David says we have been getting the
wrong information from church. He says we are taught
about Jesus, but we are not shown how to be like him
or do what he taught. David says that all men can live
like he and the others do. He says that is exactly what
Jesus taught, and that any man can have a face to face
with Jesus, in the flesh, anytime he believes Jesus
message. I'm not saying any of that is true, dear. I'm only
repeating some of what David has told Pam. All I know
is he is certainly able to do more things than we can,
and that may include walking on water." Lynn was doing
a lot of speculating and thinking out loud.
