What happened to the Amphicar?
Regulations and the high cost of producing the Amphicar
killed it. In 1968, the US Environmental Protection Agency
and the Department of Transportation put regulations in
place that made the Amphicar's emissions and bumper
unacceptable. Since the US represented about
90 percent of all Amphicar sales, the new rules
spelled disaster for the Amphicar Corporation. Its
factory in Berlin, Germany, closed down in 1968.
The car was already expensive to produce, selling
in the 1960s for between $2,800 and $3,400,
depending on the year. (For comparison, the
VW Beetle sold for $1,200 at the same time.)
Why do the British drive on the left?
Everything always comes down to keeping your
sword hand ready for fighting. In the days before
cars, people tended to keep to their left when passing
others on the road in order to be in the best position
to defend themselves. (They were living in a feudal
society; they had to be careful!) Jousting knights with
their lances under their right arm naturally passed on
each other's right, and if you passed a stranger on the
road you walked on the left so that your protective
sword arm was between yourself and him. This practice
was made official in a Papal Edict by Pope Benefice
around 1300 AD. The Pope told all his pilgrims to keep
to the left. In 1773, the UK government introduced the
General Highways Act of 1773 to deal with the increase
in horse traffic on the roads. The government
recommended everyone keep to the left. In 1835,
they made it an actual law.

The Merits of Exchanging Links

Exchanging website links is fast becoming the essential
online marketing strategy of the 21st century. Sites
boasting a diverse array of reciprocated quality links with
relevant sites receive more visitors - this is a FACT!
Search engines - the most popular method by far of finding
a website - place a high value on a site's link popularity
in their ranking algorithms. Linkages from websites that
are already highly ranked by search engines will positively
impact upon your site's rankings. But before you rush into
overdrive on your quest to exchange links with every
webmaster you come into contact with, there are certain
rules that you'll need to observe to insure that your site
popularity is maximized.
1) Quality Links - Search engines value links to and from
sites that offer quality information on pages that are not
overloaded with advertisements and pop-ups. If you link to
a high-traffic volume site that is poor on relevant
content, it is unlikely you will see an improvement in your
search engine ranking. Links to link farms & Free-For-All
(FFA) sites will also have a negligible or even negative
impact.
2) Relevant Links - Link to sites that compliment the topic
or category of your site, thereby offering the web visitor
more information on a relevant topic. This is sure to boost
your search engine ranking and pull in more qualified
visitors to your site from those that link to you.
3) Quantity - The more quality links to relevant sites that
you have, then the better your search engine ranking and
traffic volume will be. You may need to have 200+ active
links in place before you'll see the benefits.
4) Consistency - a consistent ongoing campaign of link
exchanging is vital to your success. Not only should you
look to build link volume, but you should also look to
constantly review the links you have in place to keep them
fresh and up to date.

Thoughts on Iron Supplementation
PART 2 of 5
Iron is a cofactor for enzymes involved in niacin
(vitamin B3) synthesis, carnitine synthesis, DNA synthesis,
the conversion of phenylalanine to tyrosine and for cell
replication.
1 Iron deficiency anemia occurs when iron
stores in the body become severely depleted and
hemoglobin cannot be synthesized. With anemia red
blood cells become small and pale, and unable to deliver
adequate oxygen to the cells. Symptoms of iron deficiency
anemia include; decreased work capacity, weakness,
fatigue, headache, changes in behavior, impaired
development in infants, and decreased resistance to
infection.
2 Iron deficiency anemia effects about 12 %
of women in industrialized countries.
3 Menstruating
women are at a greater risk for developing iron deficiency
anemia because monthly blood losses decrease iron
stores. Pregnant women are also susceptible to iron
deficiencies. During pregnancy additional iron is needed
to support the growth and development of the growing fetus.
4 Iron overload is also a concern, with up to ten percent
of the population suffering from iron overload. Iron overload
may result in hemachromatosis, a disorder that can result
in the failure of multiple organ systems, cirrhosis, diabetes
and heart failure.
5 As such, iron supplements should be used only with
the advice of a medical professional and only after iron
levels have been determined by serum ferritin testing.
Iron toxicity may occur if high levels of supplemental
iron are continuously ingested over long periods of
time. Iron can be extremely toxic to children and can
even become fatal.

the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures

"That was a tough one Pam. Your folks went through a
lot. It is not easy learning that your entire belief system
is wrong. It is hard to let go of beliefs, even if they are
false. I am glad your Dad finally reconciled his
position." said David, giving Pam a hug.
"I love you." she said, hugging him back, "I am glad we
came down here to live. I am glad I married you. I am
glad you learned to live by higher law. I am glad to be
your wife. You give me a sense of security I have never
had. Thank you." Pam hugged him and didn't want to let go.
"Why are people like that, honey? Why do they not see,
then accept the new evidence? Why do they fight it
all the way?" asked Pam.
"To accept new ideas is to cause a change in one's
station in life. Man inherently knows that as he grows
intellectually he leaves behind those who do not also
grow. He doesn't like that, for he knows not what lies
ahead. He has not the confidence to face the unknown
head on and look at the challenge as a gift." answered
David.
"But when the odd one does, he basques in his new
knowledge and ability. He gathers new and interesting
friends and life only gets better." said Pam.
"That's true Pam, but they only find that out after the fact.
Before the fact they fear." commented David.
"I still don't see why folks can't see." said Pam.
"There is also the aspect of it being so simple, man doesn't
trust. He is controlled by large organizations that do not
want him being free. Neither the government nor the
church want him to know the truth, for he ceases to be a
supporter of each, when truth places its veil of blessings
upon him. The leaders of the world are well schooled in
this truth. They know that if mankind were to find and follow
truth then institutions as we know them today would fail.
Things would get better for mankind, but not for the leaders
who will do anything to keep man in subjection." David
was giving her the full bore truth.
"Why doesn't the church want the truth to be known? That
is what they are supposed to be teaching." she said.
"That is the image they project. Behind closed doors you
can bet they are running a business just like any commercial
operation. People do not want to see that. They don't want
the truth to hit them where they have to do their own thinking.
The church has cleverly organized in ways that allow people
to think the church they belong to is independent. In seeing
this the people think there is no direct monetary tie to any
other church. Even if one cannot be found, control comes
from further up the hierarchy. Neither control of the country
nor control of the church lies in the hands of the people. They
think so until they have a real look. That real look often scares
them for they know not where else to go." answered David.
"But you say Jesus taught the way. Why doesn't the
church follow?" asked Pam.
"Who would pay their way? Who would pay their bills? Who
would fall on their knees and kiss the Pope's hand, or the
Cardinal's, or the Bishop's? The people willing and in
ignorance hand over control of their lives to those who
sell themselves as "knowledgeable churchmen". They do
the same with the government. It will ever be so. Only the
few who possess courage to see truth and follow it will
escape the system man has established." said David.
"Pity." said Pam.
"No, Pam. That is the way. Life is slowly and inevitably
changing in ways that permit masses of people to see new
spiritual insights, everyday. Very slowly man is evolving to a
time where they will all know to go inside to meet their Maker,
then follow his laws. They will ultimately see and do. It may
take millenniums but it is slowly and inexorably going in that
direction. Mankind can speed that up as more and more see
and act on the truth. Until then, this is what we have. Think of
it as neither good nor bad. It just is. The same, incidentally,
about your thoughts of your parents. Their thinking and
subsequent actions are neither good nor bad. They just
are." said David.
"That would make some of Daddy's actions easier to live
with, all right." said Pam.
"We sure had a nice time though. I am glad we tried once
more to reconcile our differences. I can well see that the
separation gave each of them time to think things over. It is
plain to see their former beliefs were not strong enough to
throw away completely their daughter's love and presence.
Time brought them around some and you forced them to go
the distance. Dad will have a hard time, for years, thinking
that he walked on the river." she said.
