TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

How long has Kwanza been celebrated?

What is the meaning of the word "Kwanza"?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

What is St. Stephen's Day?

St. Stephen's Day, December 26, honors the first
Christian martyr, stoned to death shortly after the
Crucifixion. St. Stephen's Day is a national holiday
in Ireland. However, the celebrations have little to
do with the saint. In Ireland, St. Stephen's Day is
the day for "Hunting the Wren," or "Going on the Wren".
Groups of small boys would traditionally hunt for
wrens. The dead wren would then be carried from
house to house by the boys, singing the wren song.
Money collected from the houses would be used
to hold a village dance. Today, the hunting wrens
part is out, but the holiday has been revived with
the use of artificial wrens or a live wren in a cage.
Girls are now included and money collected is used
for school or community projects. What's the
significance of the wren? No one knows for sure,
but one legend is that a chattering wren betrayed
the location of St. Stephen, leading to his capture.

What is Kwanza?

It's a holiday celebrated by many African-Americans
from December 26 to January 1. During this "celebration
of life," a candle is lighted on each of the seven days
to celebrate a principle, and activities symbolizing that
principle are performed. The seven principles are:
unity, self-determination, responsibility, cooperative
economics, purpose, creativity, and faith. Kwanza is
NOT the African-American equivalent of Christmas,
as many uninformed people believe.

Universal Success Secrets Shared
by Greg Reid

Are there any universal laws that most
successful people seem to follow? Great question, huh?

With that in mind, Gregory Scott Reid, well-known
speaker and two-time #1 best-selling author of, "The
Millionaire Mentor" and "Wake Up: Live the Life You Love,"
listed some common denominators in order to share
them with others.

I've been very fortunate to have had some success in
my life, as well as the opportunity to meet with some
very powerful and influential people over the years,?
said Gregory Scott Reid.?These are the common laws
that each seemed to follow, and I now wish to share
them with you.?

UNIVERSAL SUCCESS SECRETS

1. Always maintain a positive, solution-seeking attitude.

2. To truly succeed at anything, your chances increase
when you enjoy the task. When you do what you love
and love what you do, you?ll have success your whole
life through.

3. The only limitations you really have are those you give
yourself.

4. The only expectations you need to fulfill are those
you give yourself.

5. Nothing is as powerful as a positive attitude, and
nothing is as detrimental as a negative one.

6. Morally speaking, if you have to wonder whether
something is right or wrong, chances are it?s wrong.

7. When you focus on other people?s success, yours is
sure to follow.

8. Live your word. Lead by example.

9. Share. (Wealth + Information + Glory = Success)

10. You have the best chance of reaching a goal by
simply giving yourself one to reach.

11. Observe every obstacle as a learning experience.
The greater the challenge, the greater the reward.

12. Do the hardest thing first, and the rest will be easy.

13. Treat others the way that they want to be treated.

14. Few great accomplishments have ever been
achieved by anyone alone; seek support from those
whose talents exceed your own.

15. You are the reflection of the five people you
associate with most, and your income is the average of
those five people. Choose your friends wisely.

16. A dream written down with a date becomes a GOAL.
A goal broken down into steps becomes a PLAN. A plan
backed by ACTION makes your dream come true.

17. You can learn more about someone?s character on
one bad day than on all their good days put together.
The true measure of all great leaders is how well they
weather storms.

18. It?s better to invest time doing what pleases you, rather
than to waste time trying to please everyone else.

19. In the end, the extent of your own success will be
measured by the accomplishments that you have helped
create in others.

20. Having potential simply means that you possess
talents and abilities you aren?t applying.

21. Things are the way you think they are, because you
think they are that way. Your perception determines
your experience.

Do You Have Trouble Staying Awake After A Meal?
This Might Be The Reason...
(Healthy Habits Aren't Convenient . . . They're A Choice.)
PART 6 of 6

If you can add an Ephedra-FREE weight management
product to this with a 20-minute walk outside everyday,
you will definitely feel much more alert at the computer, plus
loose possibly weight. I know that I personally don't drink
enough water or I snack on taco chips instead of nuts and
fruit. And I do get sleepy sometime, especially at the computer.
I fight through those feelings, walk around, stick my head
outdoors, get another cup of tea...all the usual tricks.
Sometimes they work: sometimes they don't. It's great to
have some "ammunition" for the times this routine doesn't
work! Once I started to think about this idea, and felt it made
a lot of sense, I found it wasn't that difficult to follow.
Quickly...like that same day, I had more energy. I was
also able to work longer hours without feeling hungry
or tired. Anyway, one thing that you need to learn is that
healthy habits aren't convenient . . . they're a choice. And
once you think about this idea, you will realise it's doable,
without a lot of self-talk or hassle. Changing your eating
habits won't be easy, but it will be healthful. Don't get too
caught up in the minute details at the start...or you won't!
And if you go out, don't be a slave to this UNLESS your
immediate health depends on it. For instance, as a diabetic,
you will graciously decline the offering of delicious pumpkin
pie with whipped cream. Use your common sense. Eating is
one of life's greatest pleasures. Food should contribute to
your enjoyment of life in general, not detract from it. A varied
diet of healthful foods can enrich all stages of life. Diets
containing the right balance of good carbohydrates, proteins
and fat can reduce risks of chronic disease and can be
part of a rich and enjoyable lifestyle.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

Hemno left home that day with a little fear
and trepidation. He was not sure of his future.
Yet he struck out bravely, knowing this was the
only way he would secure his future.

All he had with him was the staff Mombudo had
presented him, the knife in his belt and a tin
cup. He had a blanket thrown over his shoulder
and, of course, the clothes he wore which was
simply a loin cloth held up by a large piece of
leather some might think a belt. It had no buckle
so he had it tied around his mid section. And he
had a little leather bag of goodies from Kenyata.

He had been walking all day and was getting
hungry. He opened up the little leather pouch
Kenyata had given him in which was some dried
food, and he ate. For water he searched around
until he found a succulent plant and squeezed the
moisture out of it. It wasn't much but it was
good.

The day had been a long one. He estimated that
he was now maybe 20 miles from home. He found a
place where he could spend the night and set up a
little fire. He had no matches so he started his
fire the hard way, by rubbing two dry sticks
together. He held one flat on the ground with one
knee and placing the other perpendicular to it and
placing it between his hands he rapidly moved his
hands back and forth. It took 10 or 12 tries but
soon he had smoke rising from the tinder the
rubbing produced. Soon there was fire and he put
on all the dry wood he could find.

The sun was setting in the west. Just as was
often the case in the African savannah it was a
sunset of incredible beauty. He was always in awe
of the evening. It showed him beauty like no other
part of the day.

He sat and watched the sun go down. The
animals were settling down and the night animals
were beginning to muster. From time to time he
could hear a life and death struggle going on as
an animal caught a meal. The hyenas were always
noisy, and the smell they gave off was foul. You
could always tell when one was around. You could
smell him for miles.

Hemno settled down on the ground with his
staff beside him and his knife in his belt. As he
lay there he looked up unto the stars. The heavens
were particularly beautiful this night. It made
him forget he was not home. The sky wrapped him in
a blanket of security. He had seen this many times
before. He knew the sky as a friend and peaceful.

Hemno slept. Sleeping on the ground always did
something for him. Somehow he was anchored. He
felt an energy from the earth and he enjoyed it
very much. Many times at home he would get off his
mat, go outside and sleep on the ground near the
fire. That was his favorite manner of sleeping.

Suddenly he was acutely aware of Sonora. She
was naked, lying on the ground. She had her legs
spread and she was beckoning him to come to her.
He felt strange and different. His manhood,
between his legs was stiff and large. It felt good
and awful all at the same time. He went to Sonora
and lay on top of her. He could feel her take his
manhood and place it in her. He pushed and pushed.
Then in an instant it happened. He was shooting
something. Oh! Oh! Oooooh! And it was over.

Hemno sat bolt upright. It was the black of
night and he was wide awake. He placed his hand on
his groin, under his loin cloth. It was wet and
slippery. He didn't understand it but he knew it
felt good, whatever it was that had happened.

He knew this to be a kind of coming forth.
Hemno had his first wet dream. It left him
baffled. He knew he shouldn't be thinking of
Sonora that way. But this was all a dream and he
had nothing to do with it. It all seemed to
explode upon him in a flash. It wasn't something
that lasted more than mere seconds, although it
sure seemed real. He cleaned himself up as best he
could and then lay back down. It took quite some
time before he slept.

The morning came peaceful. The night noises
closed down slowly and the herds were once more
grazing, even before Hemno rose. The first thing
he knew was he was both hungry and thirsty.
Looking into the leather pouch he saw enough to
feed him this one more meal. From here on out he
would have to find his own food. He knew he could
find some berries, even some grasses for a short
while, but he would have to become proficient at
hunting game if he was going to live.

He knew he could spear some of the smaller
antelope that were on the plains, if he could get
close enough. But what would he use as a spear?

Then he thought of his staff. Mombudo had
drilled a hole through the top of it and in it
placed a thong of leather, a lace like thing he
might use for binding. Additionally and this is
the first time he really noticed, there was a
notch carved out of the spear. It was carved down
from the top, was about a half inch wide and was
three, maybe four inches long, running downward
into the shaft of his staff. Besides that he
noticed a series of very shallow grooves on each
side of the staff up top where the slot had been
cut, and there was one groove cut vertically in
the staff, cutting through the shallow grooves on
one side.

HA! HA! HA!

A frustrated wife was complaining about her husband
spending all his free time in a bar, so one night he took
her along with him.

"What’ll you have?" He asked.

"Oh, I don't know. The same as you I suppose," she replied.

So, the husband ordered a couple of Jack Daniel's and
threw his down in one shot.

His wife watched him, then took a sip from her glass
and immediately spat it out.

"Yuck, that's terrible!" She spluttered. "I don't know how
you can drink this stuff!"

"Well, there you go," cried the husband. "And you think
I’m out enjoying myself every night!"
