ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
Is it true that hippos sweat blood?
No, in fact they don't sweat at all. But they do have an
unusual gland that excretes a reddish-looking substance
that resembles blood. They do this when they're
excited or scared.
Where can you find pink snow?
Pink snow can sometimes be found on mountaintops.
What causes it? A type of algae that lives in melting
snow can make snow appear pinkish.

qualifiers. I have decided I will not chase them.
thePEBBLE has been, is and will continue to be a

I have put thePEBBLE online, to serve those of you who
loyally follow the publication, especially The Saga Of

I will continue to publish thePEBBLE daily and email

10 Benefits Of Submitting Articles To E-zines
by Jeff D. Schuman
When I started http://www.ezine-in-a-box.com I wanted
to help people publish their own email newsletter without
writing a single word. However, there are many benefits
to writing articles and submitting them to other ezines.
Below is 10 good reasons you should be writing and
submitting articles to ezines.
1. You'll brand your web site, business and yourself by
submitting articles to e-zines. You could include your
name, business name, your credentials, web site address
and e-mail address in your resource box.
2. You will become known as an expert on the topics you
write about. This will give you and your business extra
credibility which will help you compete against your
competition.
3. Your article might also be placed on the publisher's
home page. If they publish each issue on their home page
this will give you some extra exposure.
4. You might get extra exposure if the e-zine publisher
archives their e-zine on their site. People might want to
read the back issues before they make the decision to
subscribe.
5. You will get free advertising. This will allow you to
spend your profits on other forms of advertising. You could
buy advertisements in other e-zines that don't publish your
articles.
6. You might get extra income from people wanting to hire
you to write other articles, books, or even ask to speak at
seminars. This is a great way to multiply your income.
7. You could allow e-zine publishers to publish your
articles in their free e-books. Since people give them
away, your advertising could multiply all over the
internet.
8. You will get your article published all over the web
when you submit it to an e-zine publisher that has a free
content directory on their web site. They'll allow their
visitors to republish your article.
9. You'll gain people's trust. If they read your article
and like it, they won't be as hesitant to buy your product
or service. You will then be able to increase your profits.
10. You could get your article guaranteed to run in an
e-zine. You could agree to run one of their articles in
your e-zine if, in exchange, they run yours in their
e-zine. It's a win/win situation.
Regardless of your reasons for submitting articles to
ezines you need to get started right away. You will
find your business increasing using this easy to
market method.
Jeff Schuman's Ezine-In-A-Box helps people publish their

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - -
by Karin Henderson
Question & Answer:
Confused About Vitamins And Minerals,
And Wants To Do Research.
PART 1 of 2
Original question:
Where can I find a dictionary or something like it for vitamins
and minerals, I am confused as to what they are for and how
much to take etc. thank you so much for this website.
Hello A. As a nurse, I had been taught nothing about this topic,
so we all seem to have to start off in ignorance. Many
doctors are also not "exposed" to this information. So I
congratulate you on asking all the right questions. The
next part of the question is a bit more difficult to answer.
This is one of the best sites I visit for good, easy to
understand information.
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/dictionaries.html
It outlines what a vitamin and a mineral is, but it won't go
into much detail as to how to put them together in a
"winning" formula. You will find that with individual
manufacturers. That is where you have to become
very astute in asking questions and feeling confident
and comfort with the answers. (I have an article on
how to choose such a company, so let me know if you
would like a copy.)
When we speak about taking "vitamins and minerals"
as supplements, we are really speaking of taking extra
amounts over and above what we already get in our
food. We are supplementing what is already going
inside of us with our meal preparation. Eating (by mouth)
is the most common way to get these vital nutrients
into your body.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET
<><><><>
THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

But not all the market was in buildings with
lockable doors. Many were in structures that were
three walls and a roof, with the fronts being
open. A merchant could buy a roll up door but that
was costly. Moreover many of the merchants had no
home to go to. They merely lived right there.
To the surprise of the onlookers that is what
many of them did. They simply packed up their
wares, put them into the store, then lay down in
the doorway and slept.
The observers watched all night. There was
little movement but for the mice and other night
creatures who knew it was now their time. The
streets were full of rats, mice and activity. They
were the "street cleaners" so to speak. The
animals were everywhere looking for anything
edible that had fallen to the street during the
day. By morning the street was stripped clean of
any garbage.
There were no strict hours of operation in the
marketplace. The merchants began to stir when the
spirit moved them. Without clocks they all seemed
to know what the rhythm was and moved accordingly.
Those who sold fresh fruits and vegetables
were the first to move. They rose and left the
market to go to a vegetable market.
In the vegetable market this is where all the
hotels, restaurants, and vegetable merchants came
to purchase fresh fruits, vegetables and meats for
the day. This market did not stay open to serve
the public, only the merchants.
The shop keepers would come back with wagon
loads of vegetables piled high and would then
begin to set out the food in their stall.
Those who sold meat did the same.
Next to rise would be the merchants who had to
buy more of their wares in similar markets. There
were cloth merchants, straw and rattan merchants,
metal merchants who sold pots and pans. All
prepared for the day.
Some, like those who sold jewellery, or straw
baskets or rattan chairs and the like, had some of
the kids from the street in the back of their
shops crafting these things they sold. The kids
would make the merchandise and the merchant would
bring it out front and sell it. The kids did well
with this and so did the merchant.
Everything in the marketplace was barter.
There was no price tag on anything. The merchant
would ask a price that was way too high and the
customer would offer a price that was way too low
and the pair of them would barter back and forth
until an agreement was reached. Then the merchant
would bring out a cup of tea and they would
conclude the transaction over tea.
This was the common manner in those shops that
sold those things families did not need on a daily
basis. For those things a family needed every day,
like fruits and vegetables the merchant might
bring out tea for a steady customer, but otherwise
the customer bought and then continued shopping
without the little reward of tea.
Mae, Susan and Tlang noticed the air in the
marketplace changed as the day went on. During the
night it would clear up and actually be quite
fresh. The only odors that would remain would be
those coming from food cooking, dye kettles and
leather shops. These odors filled the night. In
the morning the restaurants began early and
cooking spices began to fill the air. Then there
were the odors from the fresh fruit, vegetable and
meat vendors. Soon the people would arrive and the
already pungent smells would have the smell of
human flesh mixed in with it.
One of the interesting things about the meat
and vegetable market was the waste. Women would
come in and pick up leeks. They would immediately
peel off the outer leaf and look at it. If that
was not satisfactory they would do that again with
another one. Lettuce, bok choy, cabbage or any
other leafy thing would get the same treatment.
Once they found what they wanted the women would
then barter. They were very picky about the food
they purchased. At the end of the day the
foodstuffs left on the street made quite a mess.
Several times during the day the merchant would
have to scrape these remnants into a pile at the
side of his booth. Here he welcomed the night
creatures for they cleaned everything up.
Mae, Susan and Tlang had now watched a full
daily cycle. They had all been fascinated to watch
the rhythm of the day. Any observer would have
compared the scene to that of a termite mound or
an ant hill. The similarities were uncanny.
"Well, let's go to the orphanage. I've seen
what I came to see. I thought that was wonderful,
to get to see that play out for a whole day."
"I think so too" said Susan, "I would never
have thought the daily cycle would go like that. I
would never have had an opportunity to witness it.
I'll bet we do it similarly back home.
"Sure we do Sue. We might be a little more
strict and lead our lives by the clock rather than
the natural rhythm of the day, but yes, that is
what we do too."
"Can we go now?" Tlang had not been quite so
curious about the marketplace as had the two older
women. It would, though, be a memory she would
keep all her life. She would refer back to it
several times throughout life.

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY!
"The only big ideas I've ever had came from daydreaming,
but modern life keeps people from daydreaming. Every
moment of the day your mind is being occupied, controlled
by someone else at school, at work, watching television.
Getting away from all that is really important. You need to
just kick back in a chair and let your mind daydream."

HA! HA! HA!
As dessert was served to the visiting pastor, the hostess
apologized for not having any cheese to go with the
apple pie.
Hearing this, her little son slipped down from his chair
and left the room, then returned with a small piece of
cheese which he shyly placed on the pastor's plate.
"Why, thank you, son," said the guest as he popped the
cheese in his mouth, "You must have found the last piece!
Where did you find it?"
Flushing with pride, the little boy said, "Oh, it was in
the mousetrap."
