ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

In order, which five persons are in line of succession to
the presidency?

Most people know that the Vice-President is next in line to
succeed the President. If the vice president cannot serve,
the second in the line of succession is the Speaker of the
House of Representatives, followed by the President Pro
Tempore of the Senate, the Secretary of State, and the
Secretary of the Treasury. The NEXT in line are the
Secretary of Defense, Attorney General, Secretary of the
Interior, Secretary of Agriculture, and Secretary of
Commerce.

Was Christopher Columbus really the first explorer to
discover America?

Nope, that's a myth. As early as the year 1000, Vikings led
by Leif Ericson are believed to have "discovered" the coast
of North America. Columbus landed on the island of San
Salvador or thereabouts (there is some controversy as to
which island he landed on) in 1492, thinking he had actually
landed in the East Indies.

Here's To Think On ...

Old Habits Are Hard To Break!

Several nuns were in their second floor convent one night
when a fire broke out. The nuns took their habits off and
tied them together to make a rope to get out of the building
via the window.

After they were safely on the ground and out of the
building, a news reporter came over to one of the nuns and
said to her,

"Weren't you afraid that the habits could have ripped or
broken since they are old?

The nun replied,

"No, don't you know old habits are hard to break?"

Oh well! After you finish groaning over that joke, you might
want to take the words Old Habits Are Hard To Break! and
think about them.

The habit system within man is truly an incredible system.
It is actually what keeps man alive and maintaining a
certain level of conditions in his environment.

It is real nice to know that if you suffer a failure or a
setback and are really down for a while, you know, without
money etc., that the condition will not last long. That's
right. No matter how hard you work or don't work, you cannot
avoid getting back up to the level you were.

Your internal mental habit structure demands it and will,
one way or another, manifest that environment again.

While we mentioned the good part of that amazing force,
habit, the bad part is that we shall never grow beyond that
until we make changes in that habit structure.

But, therein lies a secret. If that is what habits can do,
and that is scientifically proven folks, then what can
happen if all I do is work on changing some of my habits?

There you have it. The truth.

When you envision the person you wish to be, see yourself
living that life every day, form those habits of thinking
such a person would have - guess what? You guessed it. That
is who and what you will become.

Every self-help book ever written either directly points
that out or alludes to it.

James Allen once said "As a man thinketh, in his heart, so
shall he be."

Jesus once said "If ye have faith and doubt not - - - - -,
it shall be done."

For thousands of years mankind has known this truth. Yet
there are always the doubters who do not believe.

The entire point is that when you enjoy the wisdom mankind
has known about for centuries, then you can easily change
your habit pattern to be what you want. That could be
wealth. It could be peace of mind in the midst of chaos. It
could be as simple as self acceptance.

All these things better your condition. Learn to overcome
that old idiom - -

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - -
by Karin Henderson

Connections: We All Need Them, But On Our Terms

This morning I sat down to write a health article and I
allowed my mind to wander. The spot where I sat overlooked
our beautiful bloom-filled garden and sundeck. The sun was
warm and the house was quiet, with just the odd passing car
noise.

What intrigued me was the little scenario at my feet. And
how one species (humans) is so alike another (dogs).  We
have three Scottish Terriers with very different
personalities: one lay right on my foot, another lay off to
the side, just out of touching range, but watching. The
third, a pup, was busy for a few minutes, then would flop
down, stretch out, sleep, and then get busy again.

Yet when I got up, each dog immediately followed me, not
closely, but keeping me in sight. It reminded me of us as a
(huge) human race or any (small) group.

We need each other, and we want to be around each other, but
on our terms. For some, it's a visible, physical connection.
For others it may just be a spiritual connection, and for
someone else, it might be a loose, familial relationship -
but always a tie.

I think problems with increased stress arise when we are
aware of this need, but don't allow it to happen.

Then the natural path of our personality gets stifled or
rejected. This immediately causes disharmony within
ourselves, causing us to stiffen and become defensive.

When we don't allow ourselves to connect on our terms, our
built-in support system becomes disconnected.

Problems with depression or isolation begin when someone,
who needs to be connected, isn't, and doesn't know where to
get help.

One thing I believe is that we all need to learn to accept
the many different personality styles. In understanding
them, you learn tolerance.  When you recognise and accept
the personality of your peers/group, you reduce stress
automatically.

When people WANT to be around you, you lighten up and relax!
A relaxed "you" is a stress-less" you, a healthier "you".

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to
http://www.the-pebble.com OR order yours from
your favorite bookstore. ISBN # 1-4137-4723-X

Maz and his men were back shortly, having decided upon a
strategy for soaking the canoe. They wanted all the canoes
in shape for they were planning a trading trip soon. As they
had missed one they now had extra goods to carry.

When they hit shore the men went straight to work. Maz,
seeing his Father-in-law, left the men and came over to Sam.

"So, you guys just about set to leave?"

"Pretty quick, Maz. I just came down to say good bye.
We'll be back before long, I suspect. Likely in a couple
months, unless you wish to join us or call us back. Take
care of yourself and Mom and I'll be out of here shortly."

"Thanks, Sam. You take care as well. Thanks for the hand
with the kids."

"You're welcome. Get to work now on that canoe."

With that Sam turned and walked away. In mere minutes he
was up at Maz's and Eloise's hut. "You ready, Mom?"

"Yes, honey. We can leave now."

Sam walked over to Eloise and gave her a kiss and a hug.
"We're off, sweetheart. You look after yourself. Thanks for
everything."

Sam backed away and looked at Alewka. He winked and in
that instant the pair of them vanished.

They set down again at the orphanage in China. It had
come to life for this day about a couple hours earlier. The
breakfast routine was over and the kids were just breaking
into their daily routines.

It seemed some were planning of going to the nearest
town for a few supplies. Tom and Tlang had planned on going
with them. They were about to leave when Sam and Alewka
showed up.

"Just a minute you guys. Here are my Mom and Dad. Let me
say hello and then we can be off. Or, if you want you can
start out and Tlang and I will join you shortly. That's it,
you go ahead." Tom and Tlang now turned and began walking
toward Sam and Alewka.

"Hi Mom, Dad. What brings you here?"

"You do young man. We haven't seen you for quite some
time."

"I know, Mom. It's good to have you here. Welcome." Tom
walked up to his Mother and gave her a kiss and a hug.

"Hello, Mrs. Henry. How are you?"

"I'm fine, Tlang, how are you dear?" Alewka walked up to
Tlang and gave her a hug and a kiss. Then she whispered
into Tlang's ear, "I hope this young man is behaving
himself."

Tlang looked at Alewka and smiled, then whispered back,
"He's being the perfect gentleman. Some days I have to smack
him one, but mostly he is well behaved."

"Hey you two, I know what you're up to. No talking about
me behind my back."

"Now Tom, that's half the fun of being a woman. Us men
have to stick together just to protect ourselves from this
gossip." Sam walked up to Tom and put his arm around his
shoulder.

They all laughed.

"You two were on your way into town with those kids. Why
don't you just carry on. Mom and I will be here a couple
days. We'll see you when you return."

"If that's okay with you Dad, Mom? We won't be longer
than a couple hours. We'll talk to you when we get back."

Tom and Tlang vanished to be with the kids.

Sam and Alewka walked into the orphanage. "Hello you
guys. What's new?"

"Sam Henry you were just here. There hasn't been any
time for there to be something new." Riata laughed. "Hello,
Alewka. Welcome to our humble home. It is good to have you
here."

"Thank you Riata, I haven't seen you since the wedding
and even then I didn't get much time with you. This is some
layout you have here. How many kids do you have?"

"We're just over a 100 now. It keeps growing slowly. I
imagine though we will lose a bunch pretty quick."

"How come?"

"You husband and son-in-law were over here with a bunch
of kids who had just learned higher law. That stimulated our
kids a lot. Many of them want to cross the veil. I think
within the next week we will have some newcomers in higher
law. Then the older ones will want to go out and see the
world. I will work with them for a while, but ultimately
they will leave to go live their own lives. That's good, but
it will cut down our numbers."

"That project you started in Matto Grosso is doing very
well. The kids run just as you taught and they have some
almost ready to graduate into higher law. You have done
really well Riata. I'm proud of you dear." Alewka went to
her and gave here a hug.

"Thanks, Alewka. It is a labor of love, though. I like
doing this and so do Amenti, Reno and Maria. Have you met
them, ever?"

"No, I haven't. I would like to."

Riata called the three over and introduced them to
Alewka and in so doing introduced Alewka as the Mother of
Eloise and Tom. At the mention of those names there was
instant recognition.

For the rest of the day Sam and Alewka were shown around
the orphanage, fed, given drinks and generally participated
in conversation with anyone who would come by.

"We've been pretty proud of Tlang. When she came back
from your son's wedding having stepped into higher law we
were very happy for her. Then when she brought Tom, that was
a bonus. He's a hard worker."

"I'm glad. They were good around home too." Sam
answered.

WHY DO WE SAY IT?

Dandelion: How did the "dandelion" get its name?

It comes from the jagged edges of its leaves - which were
supposed to look like a lion's teeth. The French form is
dent de lion - that is, "tooth of the lion".
