Were Neanderthals scavengers or hunters?
They may have had overhanging brows and no chins, but
scientists say Neanderthals were also skilled hunters who
dined almost exclusively on meat. A team of researchers -
led by Michael Richards, a Canadian archaeological scientist
- said the finding is based on a chemical analysis of
28,000-year-old Neanderthal bones found in Croatia. The
analysis shows high levels of meat in the diet, which should
end speculation that the extinct species lived mainly by
scavenging. The finding may also hold clues as to why
Neanderthals died out. They may have been too dependent on
meat to survive if their prey disappeared, or if they had to
share hunting grounds with anatomically modern humans.
Where did humans originate?
Research released in 2000 indicates modern man can be traced
to one small group in Africa. That's according to Professor
Lynn Jorde of the Eccles Institute of Human Genetics at the
University of Utah. He believes there's much more genetic
diversity among Africans than Europeans or Asians -- a
finding that could overturn theories that man developed
independently in several areas of the world. Jorde noted
that aside from skin color, there's very little variation
among humans. By contrast, there is much more genetic
variation among chimpanzees. Jorde said that the evidence
suggests that Europe and Asia were colonized by Africans
about 100,000 years ago. He said at one time the species was
nearly extinct, numbering fewer than 10,000.

Here's To Think On ...
with Ken Darby
------------------------------------
Kids Instinctively Know The Way
An exasperated mother, whose son was always getting into
mischief, finally asked him, "How do you expect to get into
Heaven?"
The boy thought it over and said, "Well, I'll just run in
and out and in and out and keep slamming the door until St.
Peter says "For Heaven's sake, Jimmy, come in or stay out!"
Well, I guess Mom asked an honest question, but you know
what, Jimmy gave an answer that was more honest than most
folks think.
You see, Jimmy, being young, was not yet educated out of the
ways his Maker wants him to live. He was still living in
that environment where everything was possible and he had
not yet had that educated out of him.
His answer was not only honest but came from experience deep
within him. He had not yet experienced enough of the world
that he lost faith in his Maker. His response was intuitive.
He knew because. like all of us, his answers are deep within
him.
But, we "grow up". We lose the instincts we were born with.
They are still there but we learned not to listen. We
learned not to rely on them. We learned that man's way was
the only way, and if we wanted to please our parents,
teachers and friends, then we better do things man's way.
Some finally reach a point where they want to go back to the
teaching and training we used to get from the inside. We
can, and when we do, we are once more on the path out Maker
set out for us. That path protects us, keeps us safe. That
path brings to us all we ever need. That path is not filled
with the noise and confusion of the outside world, but
filled with the quiet love filled knowledge we once had.
Return to your path. Return to where prosperity awaits you,
where peace awaits you and to where instinct will once more
guide you to all you want.
Come and be a kid again.

Understanding Anxiety And
How It May Affect Your Life
PART 2 of 4
Anxiety disorders are classified by types and these will
help determine where you fit in.
A word of caution: please read this and DON'T judge yourself
yet. You need to look ahead and feel there is hope. Also
know that when you look up specific medical conditions, you
will run across many references to anxiety as a side effect
of medications.
The types include phobias, (some drug withdrawals),
generalized anxiety disorders, (conflict), panic disorders,
(changes in the brain's biochemistry), obsessive-compulsive
disorders, and post-traumatic stress disorder.
These are the clinical categories YOU are dealing with real
life. "Changes in the brain's biochemistry" often means some
sort of chemical imbalance. Your brain has to have certain
chemicals and they are transferred constantly throughout
your entire body. It gets all its nutrients including these
chemicals through the digestive tract (nutrients)
except any
that come via unconventional ways such as intravenous
routes.
So it stands to reason that if you want to make some
changes, you would look at what you put into your body,
usually into the mouth. If you go to a doctor first, they
won't often look for the obvious causes there. So be kind to
yourself: try some easy natural solutions first.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.
The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

"Mr. Henry, I'm not quite sure what you mean by drugs
and alcohol. Why would any person put themselves in a
position where they even want those things? It has to be a
real folly of man to permit himself that childish yet
destructive desire."
"Of course it is Amenti. They get into it mostly from
peer pressure. What is bad about it is the need for these
things becomes established as a habit long before the user
realizes there is a problem. The consequence is they create
a terrible life for their loved ones and they think they are
doing nothing wrong. The whole scene is one of destruction
and lost lives."
"Why don't they see?"
"Well, Amenti, when young, most think they are
invincible. They tear headlong into things with the belief
they are immune. The fact that so many others are affected
does not even cross their mind. They believe they can get
away with it and some even set out to prove that foolish
theory. Then, before they know it, the habit is established
and they can't get off the drug or alcohol. From that point
on they simply try to justify their existence and cause
terrible hardship in doing so.
"What about sex, Mr. Henry?"
"That's another set of problems, Amenti. In North
America there is a preoccupation with sex. That usually
leads to a whole host of difficulties. Anything from being
in a crowd that uses drugs and alcohol as a crutch, to
pregnancy, to the transmission of killer diseases. The
concept of refraining in favor of a better time and place is
not a concept that is practiced by many."
"No wonder man has trouble. He rushed headlong into
things without thought or consideration. He doesn't even
see the maladies brought on by always seeking riches."
"That pretty much sums it up, Amenti. And, I think the
further and faster technology develops, the further and
faster into these social problems man will embroil himself.
It is really a good thing the law 'As ye sow, so shall ye
reap' works on a global basis as well as a personal and
local basis. The collective attitudes of man produce
collective results. The law is always working, whether man
realizes it or not."
"I guess I've been pretty much sheltered from any of
that kind of thing, Mr. Henry. I spent most of my youth in
the orphanage in Matto Grosso and once having learned higher
law, I came here, to China, to help with the orphanage here.
I have seen some of the terrible parts of life while a kid
in Matto Grosso, but never became involved, myself. I even
watched as the church was trying to take over the orphanage.
I watched as they tried everything they could. They even
kidnapped some of the kids, and, of course, they shot Riata.
Then, when the shrine was established and people began to
flock there in never ending lines, leaving money as they
left, that really drove the church wild. The cardinal
stepped up his efforts to get his hands on the money then.
You know all this, of course, that is part of why and how
your stature was changed, wasn't it?"
"Yes. I saw the church standing there with its greedy
hands out just trying to milk the poor of every cent they
had. It angered me and I put a stop to it. Even today they
no longer bother shrine visitors."
"Oh, it goes deeper than that Mr. Henry. Because of your
efforts the church is in trouble in Matto Grosso. That whole
region is falling away from the church. The people are
happier, more prosperous and learning to be free of the
guilt the church imposes on them. I'd say your actions are
finally giving the people a chance."
"I hope so, Amenti. The very idea the church required
money from the poor, was preposterous. It was greed at it's
worst. They didn't care so long as they collected the
money."
"You are really against the church aren't you, Mr.
Henry?"
"No, Amenti. I am against any man who knows nothing of
God laying claim to the idea he or she is God's messenger
and therefore those who listen must give of their money, if
they want to hear the message of God. I have yet to meet one
churchman who knows and practices what Jesus told them to
practice. So here you have a group of hypocrites saying they
alone are God's messengers and yet they do not themselves
what the purported Son of God told them to do. The entire
process is just shy of fraud, yet they have the people
convinced it is the only way. One thing you might want to
think about, Amenti, is that I would be against you if you
were unable to do what you say as you teach these kids."
"Of course. I don't like that condition any more than
you. Hypocrisy, especially in matters pertaining to trust,
is an evil thing"
"Mr. Henry, are you going to stay with us for a while?"
"Yes, Maria. At least we hope to . We want to visit Sien
at his place, but other than that we thought we might use
the orphanage here as our headquarters for a while,
providing, of course, that was fine with you folks."
"Sam. You make it sound like such a hardship these
people will have to go through." Alewka was admonishing him
for his exaggeration.

WHY DO WE SAY IT?
Back and Fill: Why do we say an indecisive person is
"backing and filling"?
The term refers to a method of tacking a sailing ship when
the tide is with the vessel and the wind against it - in
which the ship moves ahead slowly by fits and starts. the
sails are allowed to "fill" with wind and then the wind is
spilled from them by hauling "back" on the stays.

HA! HA! HA!
Each evening a bird lover, Tom, stood in his backyard,
hooting like an owl. One night an owl called back to him.
For a year, Tom and his feathered friend hooted back and
forth. He even kept a log of the "conversation."
Just as he thought he was on the verge of a breakthrough in
inter-species communication, his wife had a chat with her neighbor.
"My husband spends his nights calling out to owls," she
said.
"That's odd," the neighbor replied, "so does mine."
