thePEBBLE - 11/15/05 - Are You Ready?
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
A typical, obviously American, community. Two young people
given an opportunity for an a adventure with an attainable
financial reward. Their adventure into the inkonwn, not
restrained by dogmatic rules or community restraints, leads
them to resources that change no only the two adventurers'
attitudes, but attitudes of others.
The reader will either come away with a a feeling of
wonderment or question the writer's declared source, his
Maker, for the content.
I was not envious of the characters' adventures but enjoyed
the book as it refreshed the wonderment I had as a youth and
now as a practical adult, to "think outside the box" about
powers that are within us.

It took me back to my youth and now inspires me to "think
outside the box".

What are the seven deadly sins?
The seven deadly sins (sins serious enough to kill one's
soul) are currently anger, envy, pride, sloth, lust,
gluttony, and covetousness. They haven't always been so,
however. Originally, there were eight deadly sins (as
proposed by Avagrius of Pontus). The eight (in order of
increasing severity) were gluttony, lust, avarice, sadness,
anger, apathy, vainglory, and pride. Gregory the Great later
decided that vainglory and pride were too much alike to be
counted separately and combined them. He added envy. Later
still, the Roman Catholic Church decided sadness wasn't a
sin, and added sloth. Somewhere along the way, apathy was
dropped as well.
How many saints are recognized by the Catholic Church?
Quite a lot of them. There are approximately 2,500 with
feast days. This is less than there were before, as the
Vatican removed the feast days of more than 200 saints from
the liturgical calendar in 1969. Saints removed were those
of only regional interest, or, in some cases, those who
could not be proven to have existed.

Here's To Think On ...
with Ken Darby
------------------------------------
Are You Ready?
It was a cold winter day. An old man walked out onto a
frozen lake, cut a hole in the ice, dropped in his fishing
line, and waited patiently for a bite. He was there for
almost an hour, without even a nibble, when a young boy
walked out onto the ice, cut a hole in the ice not next to
him.
The young boy dropped his fishing line and minutes later he
hooked a Largemouth Bass. The old man couldn't believe his
eyes but chalked it up to plain luck.
But, shortly thereafter, the young boy pulled in another
large catch.
The young boy kept catching fish after fish. Finally, the
old man couldn't take it any longer. "Son, I've been here
for over an hour without even a nibble. You've been here
only a few minutes and have caught a half dozen fish! How
do you do it?"
The boy responded, "Roo raf roo reep ra rums rrarm."
"What was that?" the old man asked.
Again the boy responded, "Roo raf roo reep ra rums rarrm."
"Look," said the old man, "I can't understand a word you're
saying."
The boy spit the bait into his hand and said... "You have to
keep the worms warm!"
Well, I'm not sure I would go that far for ice fishing, but
then, I'm not a fisherman.
The boy does, however, show a true and valuable point that
many of us overlook.
Are you ready for the success you say you are going to get
or say you want?
Is your bookkeeping system set up? Are you able to handle
all the downloads? How about all the questions that come in
the email, can you handle all of them?
Here's a big one, are you really able to handle all the
money? You might think this a funny point, but success
destroys more businessmen than does the striving to get
there. Sudden money is harmful. You must be ready for it.
You should have a solid plan of action ready to go, to
handle the money wisely, until you become used to it.
I ask these questions because I talk to a great many people.
Too many times I see those who say they are going to do well
on the internet, but they don't show the work habits to
support that statement.
Also, when I ask what plans they have for accounting, for
fulfilling orders, for market expansion, for dealing with
the mail and for the myriad of other business activities, it
becomes quite clear they are not ready to receive what they
want.
I can't see any opportunity for success to fall upon those
who are not ready. Neither does universal power or
intelligence. It is a universal law that opportunity appears
only to those who are ready for it.
Until you are completely ready to handle the success you are
after, it will wait until you are. Think about that. Are you
holding your own success back because you, having done all
the work to create it, are not ready for it.
You must be ready psychologically. You must be ready
emotionally. You must be ready with all your systems. You
must be ready for the onslaught of questions, downloads and
all the other things that happen when it begins to roll.
Is you web service provider ready for the traffic you will
receive? Have you chosen, wisely, the right web service
provider? Is your ISP ready for the increase in your
activity? Your Internet Service Provider is crucial to your
success. Can he handle the new business?
This not only applies to internet business. It applies to
all forms of human activity. Success in anything will not
come until you are ready for it.
Are You Ready?

To Be Vaccinated Or Not To Be Vaccinated
Do Some Serious Deliberation Before
You Offer Your Arm
PART 10 of 15
You will be asked if you have a serious fever or respiratory
infection. Have you ever had an allergic reaction to any
vaccine or a severe reaction to a flu immunization before?
Have you, within one day of receiving the vaccine in
previous years, had redness in both eyes and/or respiratory
symptoms (cough, wheeze, chest tightness, difficulty
breathing or swallowing, or hoarseness) and/or sore throat,
and/or facial swelling? Did you have ever had a serious
allergic reaction to eggs? Are you allergic to Thimerosal?
(This is in some contact lens solutions, is mercury, and is
used as a preservative.) Are you allergic to gelatin or
neomycin sulphate (an antibiotic)? Have you ever developed
Guillain-Barre Syndrome (GBS) within 6 weeks of receiving
the flu vaccine (a temporary inflammation of the nerves
causing, numbness or partial paralysis in the extremities).
Are you pregnant: or suspect that you are pregnant? Are you
taking any drugs to thin your blood? (The clotting time
might be altered). Are you allergic to deoxycholate? (This
is a substance that naturally occurs in the bile of humans).
Are you allergic to formaldehyde (another preservative)?
The next one is a bit of a challenge to understand. If you
are taking a beta blocker medication, usually used for high
blood pressure, we want to know if you have ever had a
severe allergic reaction to any medication or bee sting. The
problem is not the vaccine itself, but the action of the
drug we MIGHT have to give in case of an allergic reaction.
The beta-blocker will not work as well and we would need to
be aware of that.
We also need to know if you are allergic to latex rubber.
How can you tell? The easiest way would be to see if your
hands are itchy and red after wearing household or cleaning
gloves for a specific period of time. The nurse must follow
a certain protocol if this allergy exists.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.
The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.

One look and all knew each other had received a new
level of enlightenment. They were all sombre, pensive,
quiet.
"Fear not this day folks. You have each been asked to
join the Temple of the White Brotherhood as your Father
before you. At your next meditation you need only confirm
your affirmative choice and it shall be so." Sien spoke
softly for he knew they were deep in thought.
Sam knew, too, what was going on. He realized this was
done that others around him might understand the
requirements laid on him. Now they, too, would be doing the
same work. He looked at Sien and nodded his head.
Slowly, the others began to converse. They did not speak
of what happened in their meditations. They still wanted
their minds to absorb and assimilate that knowledge. So they
spoke of external, somewhat meaningless things.
"Sien, you sure know how to entertain your guests." Tim
laughed as he spoke.
It broke the ice a little and loosened the others up.
"Anything to please Mr. Henry, anything to please."
Sien, too laughed. "Come, it is now time to have another
bite to eat. Sit up at the table and let's enjoy this last
bit of refreshment together. I must leave on another task,
shortly."
They did just that. The sat, ate and enjoyed each others
company.
"Thank you for coming to visit. It is a joy for me to
have you here. Unfortunately I must leave now to a task I
have been working on for some time. I ask you, Sam, to join
me. The rest of you know the way out. Sam will join you back
at the orphanage in a couple days."
That was a bit of a surprise to the group, but they
accepted it. Sien and Sam rose and as they did they
vanished. The others rose and began their journey home.
Rather than walk down all the floors and then outside they
merely saw themselves at the orphanage and believed they
were there. In that instant they were.
"Well, that was some visit." Maz spoke for all of them.
As they came to the rear of the orphanage Billy Hendriks
met them. "Hi, guys. I missed you all so much I decided to
come join you. Gosh! What has happened to all of you? You
all look different. You are bigger. You look younger but all
your hair is white. Your auras are bright and beautiful."
"Hello, Billy. How are you? We haven't seen you for
quite some time now. I trust things are going fine."
"Hi, Mom. Yes all is well. I have been out doing the
work. Once your son, here, fell in love there was nothing
more for me. He became occupied with this lovely young lady
here." He smiled at Tlang. "I've been getting around. I have
been asked to work in war zones. My, I can't believe how
people get thoughts into their heads and refuse to let them
go. They would rather fight and die than look at reason."
"That is the way, Billy. Man will ever be so until he
learns to see past the veil of simplicity." Alewka had
adopted the motherly role.
"Hi, Billy. It's been a while since we have seen you at
the village. Drop in sometime. It would be nice to have
you."
"Thank you Mazunta. I will do that. It looks like I have
a bit of a break. Where's Mr. Henry?"
"He's away on a job, Billy. He was asked to accompany
Sien on some mission. He'll be back in a couple days."
Alewka was speaking just at Riata came up to the group.
"Hi guys, everyone back from that visit to Sien's? Oh!
All but Sam I see. Come, sit, have some tea or coffee, and
tell us about it. I'll bet that monastery is some place,
that is if you can ever find it." Riata was busy placing
chairs in a circle.
They were soon joined by Amenti, Reno and Maria.
"Reno, Amenti, have you ever met Billy Hendriks? He
comes from Pinehill and lives with the Henrys.
"No, I haven't." Reno was unusually forthright and came
toward Billy with her hand extended. Billy shook her hand
but didn't want to let go. He was looking into her eyes and
it captivated him.
"Uhgghummph!" Amenti, was right beside them and
extending his hand to Billy. Billy had not even noticed it.
"Oh! I'm sorry. I'm Billy Hendriks." Billy took Amenti's
hand.
"I'm Amenti, welcome."
"Thank you. I'm glad to be here." With that Billy went
to sit down but he couldn't keep his eyes off Reno.
Everyone around the circle smiled. Each knew what was
happening.
All Tom Henry could think was "Oh! No! Here goes another
one!?
They all sat around in a circle as the group began to
relate their stories of what had happened during their visit
to Sien's. None of them spoke of events during their
meditations, but instead relayed all the information about
the design of the monastery, the hundreds of people who
lived there, and the secret entranceways, windows, doors and
the like.
All were listening to the enthusiastic stories. They
were keen on hearing what it was all about.
Riata sat quietly and listened. Somehow she was drawn to
the stories, almost as if it were a deja vu. She became
aware there was something happening here, yet she knew not
what. She had the notion her time here was now over, that
she was needed elsewhere. She knew she would find out in
time, when it was right. She entered into her own mind in a
mini meditation and offered her thanks unto her Maker. She
was filled with love.

WHY DO WE SAY IT?
Jam Session: Why is the gathering of musicians during which
they play together without scores called a "jam session"?
It's because the musicians - who are playing for their own
amusement - "jam" or crowd as many notes as possible into a
bar of music, as each in turn improvises.

HA! HA! HA!
An older woman recently returned from her hometown in North
Carolina and told a friend they'd spruced up the churchyard
cemetery since her last visit several years past. "Lots of
new greenery," she said. "And families are together now."
"All together?" her friend asked, puzzled.
"Well," the first replied, "years ago they never much
worried where they buried someone because everyone was a
neighbor anyhow. They'd just dig a grave wherever it seemed
to balance things. But they've redone it so people are with
their children and grandchildren, instead of scattered."
The friend was still puzzled. "You mean they exhumed all
those people and reburied them?"
"Oh my, no," was the reply. "We just shifted the headstones.
Everyone agrees it looks ever so much nicer."
