What is the origin of fairies?

ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
What American writer wrote in his journal that he had a
library of "nearly 900 volumes, over 700 of which I wrote
myself"?
Henry David Thoreau. But he wasn't bragging. The 700 volumes
in his library written by himself were all copies of a
single book returned to him by a book dealer who couldn't
sell them.
Who are "The Good People?"
"The Good People" is a term often applied to the fairies of
Ireland. Up until as late as the end of the nineteenth
century, some Irish (and others, no doubt), especially in
rural areas where most residents were illiterate, maintained
a literal belief in the existence of normally invisible
beings that lived alongside mankind. Fairies were believed
to live in the air, water, and earth. They could be too tiny
to see or close to the size of human beings. They resembled
humans and lived lives parallel to theirs, with some
differences. Generally, fairies left humans alone, but they
could bring disease or ill-fortune on them, especially if
provoked.

Katrina Fuels Online Donations
NINE PERCENT OF U.S. WEB users made online donations in the
wake of Hurricane Katrina, according to a new report by the
Pew Internet & American Life Project. The report, based on a
September telephone survey of 2,251 Web users, also found
that 50 percent of Web users got news online about the
hurricane. Of the group that went online for news, 73
percent went to Web sites of major news organizations, such
as CNN.com and MSNBC.com.
Study: Consumers Want Good News
John Consoli
A survey funded by Bayer HealthCare's Consumer Care Division
finds that most people would rather hear good news than bad,
and a majority of those polled do not feel that the media
gives enough coverage to good news.
The survey, conducted by The Segmentation Company, a
division of Yankelovich, polled 1,004 people with 94 percent
saying they want to hear more good news, and 77 percent
believeing the media does not give enough coverage to good
news.
"People are not only craving a better balance in news
reporting with more positive and uplifting stories, they
need it, especially during times when world and community
events seem to have taken a turn for the worse," said David
Bersoff, Ph.D, and senior vp, Monitor, a division of
Yankelovich.
According to the survey, negative news stories on topics
like natural disasters, the war on terror, and crime, can
affect the everyday lives of people. Half the respondents
said hearing bad news makes their day worse, and 78 percent
said hearing bad news makes them at least occasionally feel
anxious.
"Simply put, good news can uplift the spirits, while bad
news can, at times, directly impact our emotions and our
outlook on the world around us in a negative way," Bersoff
said.

The Inflammatory Process
A Special Gift From Nature To You
PART 8 of 12
One of the other treatments I hear about is the nasal sprays
and also a device called a Netie Pot. Think this through
clearly. Your goal is to get rid of the irritant that is
plugging your nose and or sinuses, right? Why would you then
want to put a solution INTO the area that contains salt?
Salt IN anything draws fluid TO itself. If you have the salt
solution OUTSIDE your body and dipped your toe into it, you
would draw off excess fluid. I can see the sense in doing
this. Remember the idea of internal and extra fluid
retention? In this case, you are using the identical
principle and getting rid of fluid by drawing the fluid OUT
of your body. The salt is on the outside and now drawing the
excess fluid toward itself.
You may not want to do these treatments without knowing why
you are doing them. Sprays are an example of an internal
fluid retention. I think you would want your sinuses open
and draining as quickly as possible and get that stuff out.
Then the sooner they are cleaned, the sooner I think you
would feel more comfortable
and you would want to drink
loads of water to help this along.
In this example I have walked you through the inflammatory
process from cause (irritants) to results (drippy nose) and
what happens when you stop this action: this natural action.
Lets take this to another level of thinking. You have this
source of irritation in your body (all the debris) and now
you take drugs to relieve the pressure, to allow you to
breathe. Or even take antibiotics to alleviate the possible
resulting infection. You are now adding even more irritants
in the form of chemicals. One of the major components of
this inflammatory process or healing process is often an
element called histamines. Simply put, these are necessary
body responders to help with the workload of special
intruders. It is their job to render these intruders less
harmful. But what if you are using an antihistamine? That is
right: it is a drug to stop the action of histamine, the
natural responder. This drug is something to deaden or
reduce the effectiveness of this natural reaction. Or you
are prescribed steroids. They are prescribed to soften your
bodys natural and immediate healing process
so you wont
feel symptoms as much and to reduce swelling
of the
inflammatory process at work!

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

Then Miguele began remembering how the city was trying
to take the orphanage away from Riata. She told him how the
church was trying to get their hands on the orphanage and
that this bid by the city was only a church sponsored event,
the city fathers not wanting to disappoint the church.
Miguele was aware the church came in and tried to
persuade her the church was best qualified to do this work,
they even came in and offered her money, a lot of it. She
refused their offers. All the kids were aware of it. They
had been afraid she would "sell out". That she did not was a
blessing to them and they reciprocated in kind to her.
Eventually the kids came to understand that each could
live the life their Maker wanted for everyone. That each had
the opportunity. They began to see that Riata had no need
for money, that she certainly did not want the church to get
their hands on what she had started, and that the laws of
her Maker were more important to her than any doctrine the
church spewed out.
Miguele was aware that one day the church sponsored a
kidnapping of some of the kids. Indeed they had taken the
kids into the dungeon like second level basement of the
largest cathedral in town. Riata was there with the kids,
quite unknown to the church. She caused them to escape.
The church did this one more time and again it was to no
avail. This entire exercise was much like the example of the
cold north wind trying to blow the coat off someone. The sun
sat back and told the north wind it could not be done, but
rather he, the sun, could do it without all the fuss and
effort the north wind was going to. Finally the north wind,
tired, exhausted, out of breath, gave up. Then the sun
simply stayed where he was and smiled, spreading warmth and
love unto all. To the north winds surprise everyone removed
their coats within minutes.
The church was trying north wind tactics, being just as
ignorant as the north wind. Riata applied tactics of the
sun, getting the same results as the sun. No, she was not
going to allow these kids to get into the hands of someone
who was wanting to teach them all the wrong rules, imposing
upon them the doctrine of the church.
Miguele remembers the many conversations he had with
Riata on that topic. While his own stand toward the church
was less than strong, Riata's was absolute. She was able to
show him how the church was misleading the people. And she
was showing him how, when people followed the teachings of
Jesus, then all could do what she was doing. Miguele was
very proud of his daughter, though he feared for her.
Little did he know that fear had a real basis. Before
long Riata came to him one night and told him of the plot to
kill her. She was aware of it and after careful thought,
plus conversations with other friends who live by higher
law, Oomano and Missy among them, she had decided to allow
that to happen.
Miguele was devastated. He could not understand about
this. He fought it tooth and nail. He became furious,
fearful and obsessive. There were no circumstances where he
would ever permit any in his family to get shot, knowingly.
Riata knew his reaction would be such. She sent a
message unto Missy.
Eloise with her new husband Mazunta, came to speak with
Miguele. They convinced him it was the right thing to do and
that there would be no danger to Riata.
Uneasily, Miguele accepted the decision. He didn't go
downtown for quite a while after that.
Then, one day, Riata came home and appeared as if she
were going to stay there.
"Yes, Daddy, it happened. The church hired one of its
parishioners to shoot me. He did. I was dead for mere
seconds, then Mazunta, Eloise and Oomano came for me. We
ascended upward and eventually disappeared to the eyes of
the crowd watching. The kids are sad, Daddy. Would you drive
down there and talk to them? Tell them I am all right and
that I will disguise myself one day soon and come to see
them. Would you do that for me Daddy?"
His girls had never had to ask their Father twice for
something. There requests were always reasonable and Miguele
would respond to them immediately.
Miguele remembered how he got into his truck that day
and drove down to the orphanage. There were crowds
gathering. There was a sombre mood. People were sad and
excited all at the same time. It was terrible there was this
shooting here, but the lady went up into heaven, before
their very eyes. How could this be? It was a miracle. She
was a saint, an angel, a holy lady.
MIguele worked his way back into the orphanage where the
kids were sad, tearful and wondering what would happen next.
He spoke with them, telling them Riata was all right. He
told them she would come to see them in the next day or two
and that they were to look after affairs as she had shown
them. They all knew there would be enough food and clothing.
They all knew Miguele was telling them the truth. They were
much buoyed up and thankful for Miguele having come with the
news.
All these events Miguele was now running through his
mind. His heart was so full of love he found it difficult to
hold it. He loved people so much, he loved his Maker so
much, he loved his family so much. Miguele had to sit down.
Looking back at all the things that have happened to him
filled him with so much love he was about to burst.
"Oh! Missy, the things you started that night so long
ago." He was speaking to Eloise as she came up to him.

WHY DO WE SAY IT?
Quarantine: Where does the word "quarantine" come from?
From the Italian quaranta, meaning "forty." In early days, a
ship suspected of being infected with some contagious
disease was kept outside of port for forty days-
"quarantine."

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
HA! HA! HA!
After being nearly snowbound for two weeks last winter, a
Cleveland man departed for his vacation to Miami Beach,
where he was to meet his wife the next day at the conclusion
of her business trip. They were looking forward to pleasant
weather and a nice time together.
Unfortunately, there was some sort of mix up at the boarding
gate, and the man was told he would have to wait for a later
flight. He tried to appeal to a supervisor but was told the
airline was not responsible for the problem and it would do
no good to complain.
Upon arrival at the hotel the next day, he discovered that
Miami Beach was having a heat wave, and its weather was
almost as uncomfortably hot as Cleveland's was cold.
The desk clerk gave him a message that his wife would arrive
as planned. He could hardly wait to get to the pool area to
cool off, and quickly sent his wife an e-mail via his
palmtop PC, but due to his haste, he made an error in the
address.
His message therefore arrived at the home of an elderly
preacher's wife whose even older husband had died only the
day before.
When the grieving widow opened her e-mail, she took one look
at the monitor, let out an anguished scream, and fell to the
floor passed out. Her family rushed to her room where they
saw this message on the screen:
Honey, departed yesterday as you know. Just now got checked
in. Some confusion at the gate. Appeal was denied. Received
confirmation of your arrival tomorrow.
Your loving husband.
P.S. Things are not as we thought. You're going to be
surprised at how hot it is down here.
