How come zebras have never been domesticated?

Zebras ARE trainable. They've been used in circuses since
the time of the ancient Romans. But they can also be quite
nasty when threatened and will stomp and viciously bite a
perceived attacker. Better stick to horses.

What is the only other animal besides humans that can stand
on its head?

The Asian elephant is the only other animal that can stand
on its head. Despite their enormous weight, elephants can do
a number of surprising feats, including swimming, walking on
tiptoe, and walking through a wooded area without snapping
twigs. Next time your mother chides you for thumping through
the house like an elephant, let her know that elephants walk
silently.

Deep Impact!

The teacher asked little Johnny if he knows his numbers.

"Yes," he said. "I do. My father taught me." "Good. What
comes after three." "Four," answers the boy.

"What comes after six?" "Seven."

"Very good," says the teacher. "Your dad did a good job.
What comes after ten?"

"A Jack."

Well, it seems this boys father is a card shark, using a
deck of cards to teach his boy how to count. The father
obviously had impact on the boy as did his style of
teaching.

There is something else that has impacted my mind, the
"Millenials"

Remember a while back we found that a group of people coming
up through the age groupings was that group known as the
Millenials? They are that group of people who were born
after the personal computer became an instrument of daily
use. In other words they were born during or after the year
1982, and have never known life without computers.

To some that might appear insignificant. To others the real
impact of that knowledge has extrapolations we cannot even
fathom at this point.

What has me thinking is what I see as our future. During the
first part of the twentieth century both cars and airplanes
were just starting to become useful to mankind. Today the
entire world has changed, based on those two inventions.

Not long ago the computer was brought onto the scene and our
lives changed again, because of it. In fact there remains
only a few who do not use the computer as a way of sending
and receiving information vital to their daily living.

The learning curve for most of us has been years. Yet here
we have a group coming up that has been able to use
computers as soon as their parents let them or as soon as
the education system could arrange it. They have never known
life without these machines.

This group has learned to play games online, which sounds
simple, yet has prepared them for an interplay that will
astonish us in the future.

One of the things that has my mind going is that this group,
and it gets larger with every new birth, will do virtually
ALL their buying decisions online. Does that mean a business
needs a website? Well, clearly one would or could be of
help, but what is MANDATORY is that all business, in order
to succeed in the future will have to devise some method of
communicating with their customers online. Without it there
will be business failure after business failure.

The impact this group will have on the way things are done
will be enormous, critically so. We have not even begun to
consider the ways our lives will change, but one thing is
abundantly clear, the old days of surviving in business just
because you are there, ARE GONE. Today, to reach your
customers and keep them coming in your door to purchase your
wares, it is a necessity that the internet be a part of your
marketing strategy. Those who listen well and move on this
matter will be those who survive in the business world over
the next upcoming decades.

Consider the "Millenials" well they have an incredibly - - -

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - - by Karin Henderson

Are Your Drugs Making You Sick?
Part 5 of 5

It is the same caution I give for surgical consents. Read
ALL the possible side effects and complications.  If you can
live with them, go ahead. But if they are too debilitating,
you MUST ask for more information and a second opinion. By
law, this information has to be included. Someone has to
have ended up with these negative results. For instance I
spoke with someone tonight who had a surgical procedure for
which the surgeon gave her a 90% success rate. So 10% of the
people who had this surgery had a failure. If this is you,
can you live with being one of that 10%? It's the same with
drugs.  Someone has to have these side effects. Or
interactions. In my friends' case, all her drugs had similar
warnings, yet she was prescribed all of them. Then I
realized why the last drug, the newest one, was prescribed.
Why she wasn't taken off any, I don't know. I used to send
people to their pharmacist for a "profile", but I don't
think they are doing those any longer.

One of my students printed off 9 PAGES of fine print for her
medical condition. Needless to say, she didn't understand
most of it despite having a medical terminology background.
The other sad thing I notice, no one offers any non-drug
treatment suggestions. My friend has sinus congestion. It
would be very easy to show her how to clean them quickly and
without drugs.  Here is a link to the Sinus Cleaning article
if you want to try it.

So in the end you are the one person who has your own
interest at heart and health. Please read everything you can
about your condition(s). Ask detailed questions. Write out
all the drugs you are on and side effects, including any you
may be having.  Make it as easy as possible for your medical
practitioner to give you the best service possible. It may
seem a bit "redundant" if you have a great specialist, but
hopefully they won't mind. And really appreciate those
doctors who know your pharmaceutical history. But do start
to take full responsibility for your own health and that of
your family.

Drugs have a very important role to play in our lives, but
they should not be fooled with or taken for granted. What
did I finally do with my friend? I sent a lot of information
of my "discoveries" to her family and suggested they study
this with her. Then, if they could, to please go with her to
her next doctor's visit. Hear what is being suggested.
If another drug is to be part of the discussion, ask for
interactions and possible side effects, and how this would
fit into her present medical profile. Most people don't
believe there is "power" in taking someone to your
appointments. There is. Use it.

PERCEPTIONS . . . by Ken Darby

-----------------------DISCLAIMER

Some around me think I am an opinionated old goat.
Whether that be true or not I will sometimes, in this column,
talk about things people don't like to talk about - or don't want
out in the open. Take it all with a grain of salt.

Do your own thinking, and don't accept the things I say as
gospel. They are only mental meanderings from a simple soul.

Yet Another Way To Harm Ourselves!

Hi folks!

Today was a real busy one for me. We had a rather large snow
storm after, and can you believe this?- a thunderstorm. We
do not get thunderstorms in November in this country.

My reading today has brought to my attention that with our
abundant use of chemicals in just about everything,
including chemicals put into our air, we are actually
running the risk of damaging the brains of our young folk.

This is not a confirmed fact, but a study indicates we are
running the risk nonetheless.

Interesting isn’t it? The more we get away from nature the
more damage we do to ourselves and nature. Man is literally
performing as if he is God yet he knows not what he does.

If we don’t smarten up in a hurry, Mom Nature is going to
start showing us a few things.

It seems we are being shown man’s way of life is not the way
our Maker wants for us. It only remains now for us to learn
this. Until then I expect we can look forward to more wars,
worries and frustrations.

If you ask what you can do about it you might want to
consider being true to you. That’s right. It is important
you learn to look out for you and your family. Don’t think
that earning more money is the answer. It is not.

The answer lies in peace, calm, the stillness of heart and
mind that permits you to see clearly.

Have a good one folks! See you tomorrow.

WHY DO WE SAY IT?

Easy as A.B.C. Why do we say that something easy is "as easy
as A.B.C."?

Because the school children of early England, given a
hornbook and told to read it, found the first part of it the
easiest - for then they only had to read off the letters of
the alphabet. There is no easier reading.
