TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -

How long can a person go without sleep?

Is it true that you can tell the age of a tree by counting
its rings?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

Are there any humans who don't dream?

We ALL dream, whether we remember the dreams or not. If you
think you're not dreaming, then try a few of these tricks to
help you recall what's going on in your mind while you
sleep:

-- Sleep longer. After about eight or nine hours of sleep,
you have almost continual REM sleep, when dreaming occurs.
If you sleep nine hours, you're almost sure to remember at
least one dream.

-- Try to wake up naturally. Go to bed early, so you can
wake up before the alarm clock. Alarm clocks are dream
killers.

-- Write down the dreams you remember right away. But first,
be sure to recall and think about the whole dream. If you
start writing too quickly, you may forget parts of the dream
by the time you're ready to record them.

What are the dreams of blind people like?

It depends. A blind person who is born sighted often dreams
in images like everyone else. But a person born blind, or
one who loses his vision as a very young child, doesn't
dream in pictures. Their dreams involve the other
sensations: sounds, tastes, smells, and touch. The plots of
their dreams are usually less involved and frequently relate
to events of the previous day.

Here's To Think On! ... with Ken Darby

The Laws Of Life!

The two most common elements in the universe are hydrogen
and stupidity.

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving is not for you!

Money can't buy happiness, but it sure makes misery easier
to live with.

Psychiatrists say that 1 of 4 people is mentally ill.
Check three friends. If they're OK, you're it!

The trouble with doing something right the first time is
that nobody appreciates how difficult it was.

TJ's Law: You can't fall off the floor.

The average woman would rather have beauty than brains
because the average man can see better than he can think.

Law of Probability Dispersal: Remember that whatever it is
that hits the fan will not be evenly distributed!

Ahh! How true to life some of those laws are. Yet one
thing every person should realize, hopefully before age
twenty, is that life is governed by law.

That's right. As you read thePEBBLE for the years it has
been in publication, eight or more, our main theme all
along has been that life is governed by law and the sooner
you learn the law the sooner you will realize the success
you are after.

Often we speak of persistence, of visualization, of
determination, and of the law "As ye sow, so shall ye reap."
We tell you, too, to read your goals and objectives every
day, for only in that way will you bring them into manifestation.

We encourage you to "keep on keepin' on" and never,
never, never quit. How many times have I spoken of failure
being necessary to succeed? It is an absolute must, for
without it you will not reach your target.

And the list goes on. The point, here, is that life will give
you exactly what you ask for. If you know and understand
the laws, life will give you ultimate success. If you do not
know and practice the laws then life will take you from
one mess to another without you enjoying the order,
harmony and balance that is yours. Success will elude
you like trying to hold a moonbeam.

Learn the laws. Learn how to apply them. Learn how
they will affect your journey to success and you will be
successful. Interesting enough, that's the law.

The Laws Of Life!

HOW TO CHOOSE A NUTRITIONAL
SUPPLEMENT: A "Multivitamin" Safely And Wisely
Part 3 of 5

I am not a pharmacist and I don't choose to be one. But I am
having some difficulty knowing who to send people to for
this kind of professional support or interpretation. The
problem may lie in the fact that clinics are often the main
health providers. You frequently don't get the same doctor
or nurse clinician.

If you are already on some sort of medication, chances are
the attending physician won't know you, or be familiar with
your medical history. There is never enough time for them to
read your history or to check for drugs. You are simply
prescribed something for the "presenting" condition. If you
are already on something for this "presenting condition" and
now given another medication, that makes two. And if you
have side effects from one, could you maybe have more from
the next one? And what does it do to your body?

When I am asked to do this type of search, it is usually
with some underlying question

or reason. In most cases, it's because they already have
interactions or side effects, and can't tolerate the
product.  But they are not too keen to go back to their
clinic and ask to be given something else.

For example, you go with the "complaint" of dizziness, and
you are prescribed something that should help.  But many of
those drugs already have dizziness as a side effect. So now
you have the original complaint and the new side effect. But
unless you are savvy about doing this kind of search, you
won't know anything about side effects until after you have
paid for the prescription. A little late.

PERCEPTIONS . . . by Ken Darby

-----------------------DISCLAIMER

Some around me think I am an opinionated old goat.
Whether that be true or not I will sometimes, in this column,
talk about things people don't like to talk about - or don't want
out in the open. Take it all with a grain of salt.

Do your own thinking, and don't accept the things I say as
gospel. They are only mental meanderings from a simple soul.

An Easy Day Today!

All in all folks this is not too bad a day. The news looks
like it is a Remembrance Day holiday all over the world.
Even the wars took a holiday.

I wonder if Christmas and the meaning of Peace and Goodwill
toward men will have any effect on the state of world
affairs. I wonder, too, why we have that attitude only at
Christmas?

There is still no news coming out of Nairobi, other than the
fighting over who is going to control the money they are
putting up to help out poorer nations.

Oh well! We’ll soon see. That is the one thing of which we
can be sure. All these things will unfold and show us for
who and what we are. Never forget that admonition of Ralph
Waldo Emerson - “Your actions speak so loudly that what you
say to the contrary I cannot hear.”

Remember, only by seeking peace within your own mind, body
and soul will you be able to see the path you should be
walking. Do not follow others until you have made up your
mind from information you receive from “inside”. It is in
your own breast where your Maker resides and when you become
still and calm, you can establish communication. From that
point on your life is under your complete control. Try it.

Talk to you tomorrow folks. Have a good one!

WHY DO WE SAY IT?

Jack Robinson: What is the origin of the expression "before
you can say Jack Robinson"?

There are several explanations of this phrase; but the best
story is of a very volatile gentleman-about-town named Jack
Robinson. Robinson used to go calling on his friends and
would then change his mind and leave before his name could
be announced.

THINK ABOUT THIS TODAY!

"A man is happy so long as he chooses to be happy." --
Alexander Solzhenitsyn

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>
<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

HA! HA! HA!

What's for Dinner?

A concerned husband goes to see the family doctor and says,
"I think my wife is deaf because she never hears me the
first time I say something, in fact, I often have to repeat
things over and over again."

"Well," the doctor replies, "go home and tonight and stand
about 15 feet from her and say something. If she doesn't
reply, move about five feet closer and say it again. Keep
doing this so we can get an idea about the severity of her
deafness."

Sure enough, the husband goes home and does exactly as
instructed. He starts off about 15 feet from his wife in the
kitchen and as she is chopping some vegetables, he says,
"Honey, what's for dinner?"

He gets no response. He moves about five feet closer and
asks again. No reply. He moves five feet closer. Still no
reply. He gets fed up and moves right behind her, about an
inch away, and asks again, "Honey, what's for dinner?"

She replies, "For the fourth time, vegetable stew!"
