What is the "Holy Grail" and what is it supposed
to be able to do?
The "Holy Grail," a popular feature of medieval literature
and legend, appears variously as a chalice, cup, or
platter that was supposed to have been used by Christ
at the Last Supper. According to legend, it was brought
to England by St. Joseph of Arimathea. Sometimes, the
Grail is depicted as a cauldron or stone into which a
bleeding lance drips. Whatever its shape, the Grail is
said to have miraculous powers to provide food and
heal the sick. The Grail was the object of numerous
knightly quests in medieval literature and makes up a
significant part of the Arthurian cycle of legends. Because
it was so difficult to find and could only be revealed to
a pure knight, the phrase "Holy Grail" has come to refer
to any object of an extended or difficult quest.
How come Americans use a donkey and an elephant
as symbols for the Democratic and Republican parties?
The donkey started with President Andrew Jackson, a
Democrat. He used the symbol for his party after his
opponents in the 1828 presidential election called him
a "jackass." Illustrator Thomas Nast made Jackson's
donkey famous in his political cartoons. Nast himself
came up with the Republican elephant in an 1874
cartoon. The elephant initially was meant only to
represent the strength of the "Republican Vote," but it
soon came to stand for the party as a whole.

PUT THE 'VACATE' IN VACATION!

There's a good reason why we call it a vacation. It's
the time that we set aside to forget all the have-to's
and should's of daily life and indulge in rest and
recreation. In fact, it's re-creation! Reduce your
stress. Relieve your anxieties. Relax your body.
Rest your mind.
Is that how you plan your vacation? Time completely
away from the everyday demands, the usual way
you use your time.
Now, do you believe the old adage that a change
is as good as a rest? I'm not so sure. It could be
that that is just one more justification for working
through your supposed vacation. Sure, it's a relief
to have the garage cleaned or the basement
relieved of its excess. And, yes, sometimes time
off work is the only available time to take care of
aging relatives or medical emergencies. It may
be all we can afford and the price is high. We
need some insights and strategies to keep life
balancing. Here are a few ideas.
1) COST-FREE DAILY VACATIONS
Unbelievable! What a bargain! How do you do this?
You may have noticed that sometime during the
day you find your shoulders up by your earlobes.
They seem to assume that position towards the
end of the day quite frequently. Keeping them
there takes a lot of energy.
To show yourself just how much energy it takes,
try this:
Take your shoulders up to your earlobes and keep
them there. Take a deep breath in through your
nose and sigh it out your mouth. Keep your
shoulders up! Isn't that hard work?
Now, take a breath in through your nose and
release it through your mouth. Let your shoulders
do what they naturally want to do. Ah, a cost-free,
luxury vacation!
Do it several times a day.
2) YOUR SACRED HOUR
You have 168 hours each week. Could you spare
just seven of them? Of course, you could. That's
just one TV drama a day, one third or one quarter
of a football or golf game.
A sacred hour a day can make all the difference in
your attitude, your approach and your health. Take
that time for yourself.
If right this minute, your head is filled with
'Yes, but's....", STOP! Most people waste far more
than one hour a day. You can find time to preserve
your sanity and practice balancing. No need for a
stopwatch. Simply look for exchanges you might
make, e.g., one hour of mindless television for a
half-hour walk and a half-hour meditation,
journaling or rest.
When I work with my coaching clients, I ask them
to begin with clarifying their values, the principles
they want to live from and within. That makes it
easier to decide how to use time.
Give yourself an hour a day. It will restore you and
keep life in perspective.
3) PUT THE 'VACATE' in VACATION
No matter how long you choose to leave the daily
world behind, truly do leave it behind. I recently
watched a commercial on television. A family was
leaving on vacation with their SUV all packed,
joyfully reciting all the things they had left behind:
cell phones, fax machines, email, television, TIVO,
DVD...and, all of sudden, there is a screech of
brakes and a hard U-turn. Camping gear flying
from the roof, the family heads back to town saying,
"What were we thinking?"
They were thinking 'vacation' in the truest sense,
but reality caught up to them. They came close to
having to amuse themselves, to spend time with
themselves, to be in relationship with living,
breathing creatures without the aid of technological
devices. For some, hiding behind technology is a
safety net--the relationship is with the screen. No
people involved. Or, the converse: staying in constant
touch with others fills every moment, makes us feel
indispensable and prohibits us from looking at our
own lives
very deeply if at all.
Learn to enjoy your own company, to spend time
alone. Learn to nurture yourself, nourish yourself
with what truly feeds your mind, heart and soul. That
is what balances you.
So, if your idea of a vacation is filling every minute,
change your mind. Slow down. Relax. Refresh.
Rejuvenate. Revitalize. You deserve it...and you
are the only one who can give it to you! Start now.
Don't wait for tomorrow. You well know that it
never comes.

"Plaque" is this fatty substance and it forms when too much
cholesterol is present. Over time this causes the walls to
wear out and harden. This is called arteriosclerosis. This
can happen in all your blood vessels, but in cardiac disease,
it is happening in the arteries feeding the actual heart muscle!
These are called the coronary arteries and the most common
cause of heart disease is coronary artery disease. So taking
omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) could
improve/ enhance circulation and prevent the formation
of atherosclerotic plaques, meaning they would prevent
this build up.
"stabilizing the electrical system of the heart"
Your heart is stimulated to contract by electrical impulses.
It provides best for the entire body when the electrical impulses
create strong, steady cycles of contractions and rest. That
allows the muscles to empty each heart chamber completely,
and at a predetermined rate. The heart provides the energy
via nutrients and oxygen to the entire body. When it is weak
or irregular, the output of blood compromised. So "stabilizing
the electrical system of the heart" will make this process
stronger and prevent the sluggish or missed stimulation.
"Prevention of excessive blood clotting in blood vessels".
Sluggish and uneven blood flow throughout the whole body
allows debris to fall or stick against the walls of the blood
vessel. This debris attracts more debris, and eventually
breaks off and then is called a blood clot. This is then swept
along by the blood stream until it gets stuck in a vessel
smaller than itself. There is sits, blocking off the delivery
of all nutrients including oxygen.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

The kids began the clean up. The place was a dirty
greasy mess and it smelled that way. They dug up all
the oil they could from the earthen floor. Then they
brought in new dirt to spread all over the floor. Soon
the mess was all cleaned up.
The exception to that was the net. It was taken out back
and the messy, oily parts of it were soaked in gasoline
to clean the oil off. Before long the net was clean, and
left to hang to dry.
Before the day was out the net was again placed up on the
ceiling of the orphanage in readiness for the next
attempt at stealing the orphanage money.
Then the kids had a meeting.
They discussed the failure to stay at ones post. They
nearly ended up getting robbed because they paid
attention to the noise out front. If the sentries had not
come in they would have been in a real pickle.
The decision was taken to post people at each of the
posts all the time. That meant there were two sentries,
two on the oil drums, two on the boxes, one on the
rope for the net and one coordinator.
By the time they concluded the meeting, the kids
had a better security system than would be possible
any other way.
Soon, because of the stories in the press, they were
bothered by a never ending stream of salesmen.
It seems they were told they needed insurance. They
needed good investments. They needed new vehicles,
new buildings, new this, new that, new everything.
They kept their answer at "No" for all things but they
were still amazed at where these people came from,
all trying to part them from their money.
In many of those situations they were tempted. The
salespeople were good and plied their story with
convincing belief. Yet in all things the kids contacted
Riata for her advice.
"The things you must consider is that if you go the way
of the rest of the world then you will be like the rest of
the world, dependent upon man made machines, toys,
and apparatuses. What will happen to the shrine then?
You will be seen as phonies, using the money for your
own use and purpose. The shrine will lose it's appeal to
people, they will stop coming and they will stop being
healed. The next thing you should think about is that you
have everything you need. Why do you want anything
else. No, my loved ones. If you want to be as I you
do not need anything these people are trying to sell you.
You, each of you, is doing just fine without all the things
they want you to have." she told them.
She went on, "Something you should think on and
remember is that man made things keep you busy. They
require maintenance or replacement. They let you down
when you most need them and you, so very easily,
become dependent upon them. Go this way and it is
very likely you will not meet your Maker, inside. Then
you will not be able to do the things I do. This is one of
life's tests. It is now you must decide what you want. One
more thing. It was not only the church that wanted to
take over your operation. It was the crooks, too. Now
you are seeing where others, too, want a piece of what
you have by saying you need what they have. Yet you
were doing just fine before they showed up. Why, then,
would you need anything they show you now?"
Riata always gave the kids something to ponder and
think about. They loved her deeply and relied on
her advice.
Far away Eloise and Mazunta were watching all these
happenings. They supported Riata in all she did, and
it appeared as if the children would be taught well.
They had been called to several situations requiring
help and had served. Eloise was now in her fourth month
of pregnancy and enjoying all the attention that came
with that. The village treated her as royalty, although
she did not require it.
She sat back one day and perused what had transpired
in her life from the day Mr. Gladstone had taken her and
David on the amazing journey. Learning to live by higher
law had changed her life so completely she could hardly
believe it, in retrospect.
That she was able to help so many, teach so many, love
so many. To this day she marveled at how blind men
were when, with such little effort and belief, they could
all live by higher law.
Yet she knew so very well each person must make his/her
own choice. She knew each person was led by ego, and
not truth. And she knew that until a person saw the
possibilities truth offered they would not budge from
their present position. To do things as the rest of their
group was such a powerful motivator most did not have
any desire to make the change. They did not want to be
seen as unusual, or different.
