Will humans ever reach a life expectancy of 100
years or more?
Possibly, but not for awhile yet. Life expectancy continues
to rise, especially in Japan and France, but scientists say that
even the countries that have made the greatest lifespan
improvements to date will not reach a life expectancy at birth
of 100 years until at least the 22nd century. They predict
the US won't reach that benchmark until the 26th century.
Currently, life expectancy is about 79 years for American
women and 72 years for men. Advances in medicine,
such as antibiotics and vaccines, have dramatically
improved the average life expectancy during the last
century.
Is there an upper limit for human life expectancy?
Well, we won't really know for SURE until we get there
(or don't get there), but many scientists believe life expectancy
can't go on rising forever. Most cell biologists agree that
there is a biological limit to human cell reproduction making
the maximum age possible for human life to be about
110 years. You may have heard reports of humans living
a few years longer than that, but they are few and far between
and most reports are unverified.

Time Changes Your Point Of View

This guy is stranded on a desert island, all alone
for ten years.
One day, he sees a speck in the horizon. He
thinks to himself, "It's not a ship." The speck gets
a little closer and he thinks, "It's not a boat." The
speck gets even closer and he thinks, "It's not a raft."
Then, out of the surf comes this gorgeous blonde
woman, wearing a wet suit and scuba gear. She
comes up to the guy and says, "How long has it
been since you've had a cigarette?" "Ten
years!", he says.
She reaches over and unzips a waterproof pocket
on her left sleeve and pulls out a pack of fresh
cigarettes.
He takes one, lights it, takes a long drag, and says,
"Man, oh man! Is that good!" Then she asked, "How
long has it been since you've had a drink of
whiskey?" He replies, "Ten years!" She reaches
over, unzips her waterproof pocket on her right
sleeve, pulls out a flask and gives it to him.
He takes a long swig and says, "Wow, that's
fantastic !" Then she starts unzipping this long
zipper that runs down the front of her wet suit and
she says to him, "And how long has it been
since you've had some REAL fun?"
And the man replies, "My God ! Don't tell me that
you've got golf clubs in there!"
I'm pretty sure most folks reading the joke above would
be thinking different than the stranded man on the island.
Yet it should be a reminder to us that as we proceed
through life our point of view changes, our desires
change, our sense of value changes.
When we start out as young folks right out of school
we, nearly all, are going to change the world. We are
full of energy, ideals, ideas, and desires.
As life goes on we change. Either life knocks a lot of
those things out of us or we become educated with a
touch of reality. We begin to see life isn't fair, that the
ideals as to how life should be just don't exist, and we
fight that for a while. Then we succumb to the knowledge
the ideal will not be.
From there we go into a bit of a shell and begin to think
of the things we want, regardless of the ideals we began
with. We now begin to think in terms of material goods,
jobs, security, spouse, home, kids. As time goes on we
become firmly ensconced in a habit pattern that renders
us no longer lively, energetic, idealistic.
Soon we have the car, the house, the boat, the kids with
braces on their teeth, go to church every Sunday, and
a vacation once a year. We try to keep up with all the
things we can do with our money like all the new techie
things that come along every year.
Then we notice, strangely, that the flashy car is no
longer as important to us as it was when we were
young.
You thought you could water ski forever, and now you
have lost interest. You thought would play hockey,
football, soccer or lacrosse forever. Now you've lost
interest.
Your sense of values has changed. On the front end
when you don't have these material goods, that is all
you can think about, and you work hard to get them.
Once you have these things it soon sets in that they
somehow have lost their appeal. Oh! Yes! They are
nice to have, but somehow they are not as important
as they once were.
So what is happening?
Life is happening, that's what is happening. It is the
normal evolutionary circumstances of every life in earth.
The young who are wise will harken and think about
these things. They can prevent a lot of heartache along
the way if they were to heed the end of life at the
beginning of life.
It is very much like the adage that says you cannot
know how to live until you are ready to die.
If you would do well today, consider what your values
will be when you are seventy. If you would succeed
today, see yourself as a person seventy five years old
and watch the things you will be doing then. Success
AND Happiness is the journey - - NOT the destination.
Think on that.

While the Fixed Decimal setting is turned on, Excel adds a
decimal point to all the numeric values that you enter. But
if you want to enter a number without a decimal point, or one
with a decimal point in a position different from the one called
for by this feature, you have to remember to type the decimal
point yourself. For example, to enter the number1999
instead of 19.99 when the decimal point is fixed at two places,
type 1999 followed immediately by a period, in the cell.

Do You Have Trouble Staying Awake After A Meal?
This Might Be The Reason...
(Healthy Habits Aren't Convenient . . . They're A Choice.)

The composition of your meal may be such that you are
getting too many carbohydrates and not enough balance of
protein and fat. We are basically speaking of "the food
combining principle". Generally, when people eat combination
meals of starch with a heavy protein, a lot of the energy of
the body goes to the digestive process. The alkaline and acid
digestive juices are also trying to work together...in harmony.
So a large meal requires more blood flow to be diverted to
the stomach for digestion for a longer period of time, leaving
less energy for the rest of the body to function adequately.
(It's like the post office getting swamped with mail at Christmas
time...vs. email being pretty steady all year long.) So to avoid
that, you might have protein meals (like meat, fish, fowl, eggs,
or soy) with a lightly steamed vegetable and a salad. Try to
include a 3-oz portion of lean meat/fish/chicken or meat
substitute such as tofu/tempeh/beans, plus fruits and a salad.
Then have starch (carbohydrates) meal separately and
have it with more lightly steamed vegetables and another
salad. But have this at the next meal...i.e. dinner, plus...again
fruits. (Now I want to share something that I found confusing
till someone helped me to understand. Potatoes and rice are
water-based carbohydrates, just like fruits and vegetables.
The difference is in their processing. When you cook rice or
potatoes, you TURN them into a starchy carbohydrate. They
stop being a water based (highly desirable) carbohydrate
and turn into a starch carbohydrate (less desirable). Once the
water content is removed, their function changes. Hope this
helps a bit. That's why we can have "carbohydrates" along
with the protein…it's just in a different food item.)

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places. As you read on, enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

The Pope's visit and meetings with the clergy ended
with a pall of negativity over them. The guilt all felt
would not go away. It led to judgments that were
not clear, and certainly did not solve the problem.
They all left the meeting with the firm resolve they
would not let the events of the meeting get in the
way of the church business. They would do their
best to forget they were complicit in the death, or
what they looked on as the death, of the woman at
the orphanage.
As with all men they thought these things would go
away with time and that soon it would be business
as usual. They, like all men, thought this would become
a thing of the past and in time they and all would forget
what they had done. Such is the foolishness of man.
Until they, each, go inside to meet their Maker they
cannot change the effect of the law. Only upon a real
and secure relationship with your Maker inside you
can you overcome. No other way is offered unto man,
and the church is by no means the way victory.
Riata knew the law would find out each one of the
participants of the meeting. Nothing more was needed
from her, now the circumstances were public knowledge,
amongst those who were part of it. She knew no one at
that meeting would be able to put it aside and those who
tried would not succeed.
She and the others had left the meeting as they had come.
They merely vanished to the eyes of the gathering. That,
too, was interpreted as a "miracle", at least for a while,
yet before the meeting adjourned they were thinking
they had only seen some kind of apparition from some
source unknown, but certainly not a messenger from
God. Already they were trying to sidestep responsibility.
The new Cardinal was left in his appointment. He was,
inside, a molten man of fear and trembling. Outside he
took the churches trained stance, appear calm, say
nothing.
The Pope was put on his plane and sent on his way
with much fanfare. Hardly any clergy were there, having
had their time.
The Cardinal settled in to his post with a determination
to be the best he could be. He wanted to impress Rome.
As was the plan before the Pope's visit, he appointed
the priest who had ordered the killing of the woman at
the orphanage as the next Bishop. The two of them
were truly "partners in crime".
Riata and the others, upon leaving the church that day,
decided to go to Migueles and visit.
"That was some meeting. They were all in fear of
retribution, yet by the time the meeting was over they
were justifying their actions and putting down our
presence as if we were some foreign beings. The
church has them completely brainwashed.
Completely." said Romero with an edge of surprise
in his voice.
"Romero, it is in the nature of man to always think
he is right. Few there are who accept responsibility
for who and what they are. Man has the capacity to
hide things within himself so he does not have to admit
he is wrong. In the church that becomes easy because
of the myth they perpetuate by their claim to be the only
interpreters of God's word. The people desperately
need something to hang onto and the church is where
they go. It is for that very reason that some priests have,
in years gone by, broken away from the Catholic church.
They wanted to give the people more access to God. In
so doing, their ideals, while possibly right to start with,
became entangled into the same procedures they left.
Each pastor, minister, man of the cloth, from any and
all religions ultimately ends up the same. His reward
is the awe and reverence the people give him. Beyond
that he will not change what he is for he will lose his
reward. They know not the truth, neither do they want
to see it." answered Sien.
"What I don't really understand is each of them knows
about the shooting at the orphanage and they each
knew of it before the fact. Knowing that, how can they, in
clear conscience purport to be doing the business of
God?" asked Romero.
"Romero, the business of God, as far as the church is
concerned, has nothing to do with God and everything
to do about business. They have committed atrocities
from their very beginning, in an effort to control the
masses. They once were the ruling class, until the
separation of church and state, yet they remain at the
very forefront of control. Any leader in any country has
to be seen as a strong member of his religion, if
he is to have the acceptance of the people and the
unwritten endorsement of the church. That is true in all
countries of democratic government. Dictators don't
have to worry about that little aspect of leadership. They
would as soon shoot a priest as an ordinary citizen. In
that they know more truth than the world gives them credit.
