Is it true that babies born in certain months live longer?
Yes. In a 2001 study of birth and death data for people
living in Austria, Denmark, and Australia, researchers
found that birth month was associated with total lifespan.
People born between October and December in Austria
and Denmark lived longer than those born between
April and June. The pattern is shifted half a year for
those born in Australia, leading the researchers to
speculate that seasonal differences in nutrition and
disease environment early in life (such as in the womb)
could explain the relationship. They note that in past
decades, food supplies (including the availability of
fresh fruits and vegetables) differed from season to
season and that mothers who gave birth in autumn or
early winter had access to plentiful food and fresh fruit
throughout most of their pregnancy. Those who gave
birth in spring and early summer experienced periods
of inadequate nutrition.
What is "mad-cow disease"?
"Mad-cow disease," or bovine spongiform encephalopathy
(BSE), is a strange disease that can kill both cows and
humans who contract it from cows. It's called "MAD-cow
disease" because it destroys the brain, filling it with small
cavities resembling the holes in a sponge. Symptoms of
the disease in humans include paralysis, blindness,
dementia, and psychosis. Scientists believe mad-cow
disease is not caused by a bacteria OR a virus, but by
prions - normal protein molecules that become infectious
when folded into abnormal shapes. No one knows how
the disease first came about, but when it affects humans
it's referred to as a variant of "Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease,"
normally a very rare disease. Prions are extremely hardy.
You can freeze them, boil them, and even soak them in
harsh chemicals, and they'll still be infectious. Worse - they're
invisible to the immune system, so you can't count on
your body fighting the disease off.

Think Before You Act!

A golfer is playing a round of golf with his buddies.
On the sixth hole, a hole over water, he proceeds to
flub nine balls into the water. Frustrated over his poor
golfing ability, and about ready to hit somebody, he
heaves his golf clubs into the water, and begins to
walk off the course.
Then all of a sudden he turns around and jumps
back in the lake, his buddies apparently thinking he
is going to retrieve his clubs. When he comes out
of the water he doesn't have his clubs and begins
to walk off the course.
Then one of his buddies asks, 'Why did you jump
into the lake?'
And he said, "I left my car keys in the bag."
Anger can have you making mistakes a clear head
would avoid.
How many times do we act out of anger only to find
we say and do things we cannot undo, and likely
hurt someone we love?
Worse yet, how many times do we act hastily, out
of anger or not, just hastily, without thinking things
through, only to find we had not properly considered
all the facts and now have ourselves in a bit of trouble?
Or how many times have you done things as a bit
of a lark, only to find consequences to be other than
what you had expected?
Sometimes doing things like this is a part of youth,
or growing up. Yet when it happens the first couple
times it should teach us to think a little more deeply
into what we are doing.
I know a woman whose life is entirely impulsive. She
always goes with the first thought she has and never,
not even for a second, gives thought to the what if's,
or the consequences of her actions. The result is she
is always broke. She hurts many of those close to her,
and her reputation is that of being somewhat of a dunce.
It is too bad she has to live her life this way, when
with ease she could simply ask herself the second
question "If I do this what do I have to give up, and
who besides me does this affect?" If she did nothing
more than that the answers to her question would
undoubtedly cause her to rethink her decisions at
least half the time. Life would be much better for her.
So, too, with you, particularly in your business. You
sometimes have to be a visionary to see past the
present hurdle, in order to make the correct decision
that will come out right for you.
Practice being a visionary. Try looking down the
road a few days or weeks to see the actual results
of your planning. Here you must be brutally honest.
You are not looking for the things you would "like"
to see. You are looking for the things you know will
most likely happen. Practice that, to your
good fortune.

Do You Have Trouble Staying Awake After A Meal?

Try this method as a natural weight-balancing regime: eat
the protein meal at lunch and the starch meal at dinner. If
you go out to lunch, why not try an "open face"
sandwich...remove half the bread and remove half
the problem! A small salad substituted for the fries, and
another benefit! Many restaurants offer this kind of choice
without any question. I am going to touch very lightly on
the glycemic value of carbohydrates. There are many
books and good web sites available on the subject, but
there are still people who don't recognize the value of
this information. It does serve a great purpose and you
should be aware of this concept. Imagine the ratios for
the proper amount of macronutrients as this on your lunch
plate for your protein meal: 5 grams of carbohydrates
(this translates to 2 soft balls or 2 fists or water based
carbohydrate like fruit or veggies on your plate). 3 grams
of protein (or the size of a deck of cards or your palm on
your plate) 1 gram of fat (or the size of your pinkie finger
of good oil or fat on your plate) When you are having
dinner, then the "deck of cards" would be your starch
based carbohydrate. Please use this as an awareness
indicator ONLY. High glycemic foods tend to spike the
blood sugar levels in your body. Low ones keep it even.
So try to avoid high glycemic ones like white bread, white
pasta or white potatoes and focus on low glycemic ones
like pumpernickel, rye bread, and yams). But if 80% of
your diet is starch, regardless of what kind (high or low
glycemic), then tiredness can be the result . . . as well
as weight gain.

David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.

on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures

With that the visitors left Miguele's and Abetta's
and returned to their homes. Romero, of course,
stayed right there. He was in love and was now
spending more time with Oomano than anywhere
else. Miguele and Abetta watched them and were
thrilled at what they saw.
For a parent, when a personal relationship one of
their children has is right, it is a real thrill, right to the
bone. A parent raises a child to this and when it is
right it presents a never ending source of pride, joy
and happiness in a parent. When it is wrong, most
know it from the beginning and only wait for the break
up and ensuing pain.
That is the reason why the parents of Mazunta were
so proud of their son, and the parents of Eloise were
so proud of their daughter. All knew the relationship
was right, that love was present, that commitment to
each other was so profound there would never be
discussion of break up. It brought pride and joy to the
parent's heart every day in a thousand ways. And, it
made it easy for the parents to feel at home with one
another and enjoy all the get togethers the relationship
spawned. In fact the two sets of parents had values that
were so similar they really enjoyed being together. Each
was looking ever so much forward to the grandchild
Eloise was about to give them.
Yet the folks of David and Pam likewise had reason to
be proud and happy. Mae Wiley was pleased with the
relationship of the couple, of course. Yet Mae was the
only parent of the four who was present, could see and
understood the relationship. Pam and David were very
happy together, and committed to each other for eternity.
With David now living by higher law Mae knew the
couple would be always be together.
Pam's folks did not even know they had a second
grandchild. They had listened to the church back in
Pinehill. They believed the Henrys were evil, what with
their powers, and Pam's association with them was bad.
When David decided he wanted Pam to try to live in
South America, which is where David truly found
who he was, Pam's parents disowned her. Now they
had not a daughter nor did they enjoy the children she
brought into the world.
It brings to mind that nothing is good or bad but thinking
makes it so. If the Hunters, Pam's folks, had not listened
to their minister, but, instead, looked deeper, they would
have had the pleasure of knowing the relationship and
enjoy the complete fruits thereof. Oh! The choices
we make.
Pam, while quite happy living in the village with David,
her family, Eloise, Mazunta and the villagers, she had a
hole in her heart for her parents. Oh! She had Mae
helping out with the children, but Mae was David's
Mother, and while Pam loved her, it was not like her
own parents.
"David, I'm missing my folks, terribly. I don't know
why it started or where it came from but I'm missing
them. I haven't seen them now for over two years.
They don't even know they have another grandchild.
I'm hurting, inside. Do you think I can go visit them
for a while?" asked Pam.
"Certainly, honey, if that is what you would like. I think
though we should plan and talk all this out for we do
not know exactly what to expect. They might miss you
so much they want you back regardless of circumstances.
Then again they may be so stiff necked, still, that it will
inflict more pain on you. What do you think?" he
responded.
"I really don't know, dear. I really don't know. I thought
about that. I think that if they are unwilling to turn
around now, to accept what is, if they want to continue
with the narrow minded approach the church gave
them, then I think that will conclude my relationship
with them forever. But they might just miss me enough
they are willing to overlook the ignorance the church
required of them and have a deeper look. Either way,
I think it is now time to find out. In fact, I've been
wondering if this pull in my heart is telling me it is
time. Could that be?" she asked.
"Sure it could. And I think you are right, we should go
up and visit. We can always leave if the welcome is
not there. Or do you want me to come? What about
the kids, too?" he asked.
"Oh! I want us to go as a family. I don't want to go
alone. I am no longer alone and if they do not accept
my choices for family they do not accept me. They
get me and the whole darned package or they get
nothing. That is just the way it has to be." she replied.
