Most people don't really like the ice and wind, though.
There is no place on Earth COMPLETELY safe from
earthquakes. Small earthquakes can occur anywhere
in the world. In the United States, you're safest in Florida
and North Dakota, which have the smallest number of
earthquakes. Alaska and California have the most.
The most DAMAGING ones in the US have been
in California.
If I'm in the house during an earthquake, should I run
for the door?
ONLY if you live in an old, unreinforced adobe house.
Most modern homes do not have doorways that are
stronger than other parts of the house. You're much
safer taking cover under a heavy piece of furniture or
against an inside wall and holding on. In fact, according
to FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency),
the most dangerous thing to do during the shaking of
an earthquake is to try to leave the building because
objects can fall on you. If you're outdoors already when
a quake strikes, you should move into the open, away
from buildings, street lights, and utility wires. If you're in
your car, stop carefully and stay inside the vehicle. Make
sure you've moved to a clear area away from buildings,
trees, overpasses, or wires. When you start driving again,
stay away from bridges or ramps that might have been
damaged by the quake and look out for breaks
in the pavement.

Cornpone and Treewood

Cornpone Taggart and Hamstrung Treewood are a
couple country hicks. Cornpone, known as "Pone" or
"Old Pone" earns his living on the internet, and has
since he left what schooling he had. He's a lazy cuss,
and figured the internet was the way to earn the kind
of living he wanted. He thought it beat the backbreaking
sweat soaking work that was the kind you could
get in his town.
Hamstrung Treewood, didn't pay much attention to
computers in school and went out to work in the
backbreaking world in town. He had been without
work for a while and Pone was teaching him how to
set up a business on the internet.
The story continues.

Hamstrung Treewood was puffing and out of breath
as he came running up to see his buddy Cormpone Taggart.
Old Pone as the townsfolk called him was sitting next to
his favorite tree in the town common.
"Wha's yous puffin' fer Strung?" asked Pone.
"I's bin adoin' tha' there thinkin' an' lookin' like yous said.
I's deecided I's agittin' outta shape, so I's afiggerin' on
doin' some runnin' near everwhere I's goes. Tha' way
I's gits ta where I's goin and I's gits some exercisein'
too." answered Strung.
"Hey Strung, tha's good. Tha's good. An' wha' else did
yous discover on that there thinkin' an' lookin'
bit?" asked Pone.
"Well Pone, I's ain' near so's eeeficient at it as yous,
buts I's athinkin' I's aseein some o' the reasons folks
is abuyin' my products. It ain' the products theys abuyin'
its the end result. Theys don' want the product I's
asellin' Pone. They after what the product does. I's jus'
don' know why I's acouldn' see that afore." answered Strung.
"I's impressed Strung. Yous has gots the idee. Theys
not anyone's life tha' wouldn' be a big bunch better
if'n theys stops and looks once in a while. I's showed
yous las' week I's sees a lot from here. I's sees more'n
most folks in town sees. The very same thing happens
ta everbody wha' stops, gets calm an' looks. If'n yous
keeps on alookin' Strung yous is agonna soon be
agettin' secrets fer ta run yer bisness, too, an' a whole
bunch o' other stuff." said Pone.
"But why isn' we atalkin' 'bout the innynet
bisness?" asked Strung.
"We is Strung. Unless yous gots yerself a good grasp
on hooman nature, how can yous run yer bisness? It
all runs hand in hand Strung. Why don' yous goes
home and thinks on that fer a while. 'Member yous
is agonna go further, faster if'n yous is agonna stop
an' have a real look aroun'. Now gits yerself home.
I's wants ta see yous run. Tha's good fer
yous." said Pone.
With that Strung was away running.

These days, my life revolves around explaining how the immune
system works, how it has broken down, and why you really need to
keep it healthy. This is not some far off ethereal, wishy-washy,
"tip toe through the tulips" concept. It is a very practical
choice you have to make consciously, and apply to your health
NOW. We have made giant steps in understanding our bodies: how
they die (slowly and painfully) and how to keep them alive
(happily and healthily). Ponder this...why do some people live
healthily till they die and why so others limp along painfully
to a sad ending? Why wouldn't we all die the same way? And that
is what I want to share here. This is about living everyday and
every minute to your best possible potential. Not living in
anticipation of your death, but taking an active role in
creating a good life for yourself. And the factual part is that
only YOU can create it for yourself. Neither your doctor nor
your spouse, nor anyone else, can do this for you. This is a
brutal, but real fact. The other scary part is that the choice
to take control is YOURS. So if you choose to move forward in
health and longevity, you need to learn how to do this.
I am going to give you a variety of descriptions, definitions,
and research sites. I urge you to start paying attention to what
is going on ...or not going on, in your own body. This is how
you can prevent many degenerative conditions from getting a
foothold. That includes cancer. One marvellous place to find all
sorts of information is "Medline". It is a site used by many
health care professionals and the research community.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures

"Will he ever get there, David?" asked Bob.
"Sooner or later. What is happening is, slowly, more
and more people, one by one, are coming to realize
truth. It is only important that man, when he is ready,
make the choice to commit to higher law. When he does
there will be someone to help. But that commitment
must be unequivocal. Each must make a
choice." David answered.
"Daddy, I just had an idea. Would you and Mom like
to come visit us, in South America for a while?" asked
Pam, looking at both of them.
Bob and Lynn looked at one another, then Bob answered,
"That would be nice Pam. We have talked of it, but we
didn't know where to go or how to reach you."
"Well, now be careful here, because I think I'm going to
scare you. Would you like to travel with us?" she asked.
Bob took a deep breath. She was right. It did scare him.
Talk was one thing, but now here it was, right in his face.
He had to make a choice, and it scared him. He was
inclined to say no. Before he could answer, David spoke.
"Bob, Lynn. Stop a minute and think. We, the whole family,
arrived here safely, and we travel safely. It scares you
only because you have not done it and because you are
suddenly faced with the reality of it all. Don't be afraid.
Pam would not have asked you into any danger or harm,
neither would I. Just think on that. We will keep you
safe." he said.
"I - I - I don't know. I have never thought of it. Mom and
I were thinking we might travel down there someday,
but we thought we would do it man's way." said Bob.
"Certainly, you can do that. The trip will take you nearly
three weeks. Same for returning. Our way is much faster,
and, if the truth were known, safer. Think
on it." answered David.
"What do you say, Mom? We are in this thing now
anyway. If we are in it for a dollar we might as well
get in it for a hundred." Bob said to Lynn.
"I - I don't know. It frightens me." Lynn responded.
"Mom, look at me." commanded Pam, "I travel this
way and it doesn't scare me."
"Yes, but you are used to it." said Lynn.
"I had to start someplace. I had a first time, too." said
Pam trying to have her Mother realize just because
it was new did not make it wrong.
"Oh! I guess we can Bob, but it still scares me." she said.
"Well, you guys think about it for a bit. We won't be
going right now and not even today. We came to visit
you for a while, and we would like to enjoy you and
have you enjoy the kids. Let's relax from this deep
conversation and lighten up a little. When the time is
right we'll all know it. In the meantime, I haven't been
to Pinehill for a long time. I'd like to see the
place." said David.
"Yes, and I bet you could use some lunch." said Lynn.
They had a lunch and after lunch the girls were
involved with the kids.
"Let's jump in the car and let me show you Pinehill. I
don't think much has changed here David, but we'll
have a look." said Bob.
The men got into the car and started out. Pinehill was
just like it was when David left. Oh! there were little
changes, here and there, but nothing major. It was
still the sleepy little town where he grew up. Funny
the memories it evoked. So much water had gone
under the bridge since he was last here. Life goes on
and we each take different paths. David was glad of
the path he had chosen. He would not want to be back
here living life as these folks do, chasing money
from one day to the next.
"Let's drive over to see Sam Henry, if he's home!" said David.
