Be Nice!

An elderly man lay dying in his bed. While suffering
the agonies of impending death, he suddenly smelled
the aroma of his favorite Italian anisette sprinkle
cookies wafting up the stairs.
He gathered his remaining strength, and lifted
himself from the bed. Leaning against the wall, he
slowly made his way out of the bedroom, and with
even greater effort, gripping the railing with both
hands, he crawled downstairs. With labored breath,
he leaned against the door frame, gazing into the
kitchen.
Where if not for death's agony, he would have
thought himself already in heaven, for there, spread
out upon waxed paper on the kitchen table
were literally hundreds of his favorite anisette
sprinkled cookies. Was it heaven? Or was it one
final act of heroic love from his devoted Italian wife
of sixty years, seeing to it that he left this world
a happy man?
Mustering one great final effort, he threw himself
towards the table, landing on his knees in a
crumpled posture. His parched lips parted, the
wondrous taste of the cookie was already in
his mouth, seemingly bringing him back to life.
The aged and withered hand trembled on
its way to a cookie at the edge of the table, when
it was suddenly smacked with a spatula by his wife......
"Back off!" she said, "They're for the funeral."
Wow! Even condemned prisoners get one last
meal and one last wish before being hung. Do
you think this lady would have missed one
cookie? Surely she could have been nice enough
to let him have some?
It reminds me of a movie I saw once, called
Roadhouse, with Patrick Swayze in it. In the
movie he was training bouncers on how to
keep order amongst a drinking crowd. His
instruction was "Be Nice". He was quite willing
to beat any offender into a pulp, but he
required his people were nice, first,
and after.
I always took that as good advice in any situation.
It does not matter how riled up you are on the
inside, Be Nice.
That old platitude that you can catch more
flies with honey than you can with vinegar is
really a deep down truth more of us should
practice.
When you give love, rather than hatred or anger,
who can fight back? When you are kind to those
who would harm you, do you not diffuse them?
How many times can you turn a returned product
negotiation into a lifelong customer. How is it that
you react to someone who treats you nicely. Do
you go back for more? I do.
In all jobs, in all countries, at all times there can easily
be found things to get your anger up. But why? What
does that accomplish? Be nice. Get the matter corrected
and everyone benefits, especially you.
Is there a family where a husband and wife have never
fought? Be nice. Let the other person vent. Be nice,
forgo your anger, hear them out, and soon normal
relationships will return.
Have a customer who is irate? Be nice, be calm,
provide your customer with an opportunity to
accomplish what they are trying to accomplish. They
will remember you before all others.
Once I enrolled in a plan where I was going to use
a service. Better judgment took hold of me about
three weeks later. For the sole purpose of preventing
another payment from coming out of my account, I
cancelled. Guess what? Within a week I found, to
my surprise, my original payment had been returned,
unsolicited.
I now have need of a program. As I was surfing I
found several I could use, however, I also found that
this man I had already dealt with had one that would
do the job. Even though it was not quite up to the
number of features some of the others had, guess
who I am going to deal with. You're right. He has
already established his integrity, his honor, his
business policies, with me. I go where I know
I will be treated nice.

(Under the skin)
Now take away the skin and it's all very different! All of these
bones have a shiny whitish round area at each end. These are
condyles. Some are rounded one way and some the opposite way.
(concave and convex) That surface allows the bones to articulate
(fit) with each other. This occurs all through your body. Many
bones are hinged, meaning they can be flexible. They can be
hinged sideways, or go forward and backward. Some rotate. There
are medical terms that will describe their location and their
intended action. But what makes the attachment to the next bone?
Connective tissue. Special strong material that can support the
purpose of the joint. You can now appreciate that a hip joint
has much more weight to support than a finger joint.but each is
equally important. Some joints have pillows of cushions to help
absorb the shock or tension. That would happen in knees, and
elbows. (Also the tail bone.) If you have ever fallen directly
on your joint, elbow, or knee, you will have experienced an
unusual pad full of fluid that took ages to be re-absorbed. That
pillow really protects the joint.
Here's how many bones you have hands and feet of a healthy body
(with no "innards" removed)
Hands = 8 carpals, 5 metacarpals, 14 phalanges, = 54. Feet = 1
talus , 1 calcaneus, 7 tarsals, 5 metatarsals, 14 phalanges, =28
x2 = 56 = 110 bones
Let's work from the wrist (carpals) and the ankle (calcaneus and
tarsals).attached to the arms and the long bones of the legs.
The framework of the hands and feet are quite similar. You have
groups of bones that make up the wrist and ankle. The wrist is
made up of 8 small ones and many are different-shaped bones.
They need to be flexible, connected, and practical. The ankle is
made up of 7 bones with the same requirements. Generally the
hands and feet are padded quite similarly. There are lots of
muscles, blood vessels, nerves and nerve endings running
alongside. And in some instances, there is fatty tissue. And of
course our connective tissue again.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures

It was another busy, busy, day at the orphanage. The
children were kept busy looking after the needs of the
visitors and those seeking healing. The crowds just
keep coming twenty four hours a day, and the kids
had to take shifts.
Riata was watching them without anyone knowing.
She kept herself invisible and out of the way.
The children had organized themselves into a very neat
working group. They also accepted more orphaned
kids. They administered their affairs skillfully, although
they had a lot to learn.
As children they did not value money as adults do. They
were a little too free with it.
"Children!" she called to all their minds, "It is me, Riata.
I want to speak with all of you. Please keep on doing
what you are doing, as if all is normal and I will continue
to speak with you as you go about your duties."
All the children stopped where they were, for a moment.
They had not heard directly from Riata since she left. They
had seen her, of course, as she made appearances to
the crowd, but they had not spoken with her.
"I have come to tell you a few things that may be of help
to you. Before that though I want you all to know how much
I love you. I am watching you and I see you are all treating
one another with love and kindness. I am pleased and
proud of you. You are handling yourselves with the grace
and love of your Maker within you.
I also know since I left, you have been kept very, very busy.
Please do not miss your meditations. It is vitally important
you carry on the work we started. It is important you learn to
meet your Maker, inside. Those of you who do that
successfully will be able to work with the others. You will
also be able to see and touch me, for I am not dead, as
some would have you believe." she said to them.
She stopped for a moment to let this news sink into their
minds. They all gave a warm, loving smile. They knew.
"You are taking in a great deal of money. There are many
who are not honorable as you who will want to take it from
you. Please put it where it is safe. Also, I suggest three or
four of you go to a bank, one of the international banks,
not a local one, and put the money into a bank account
where there are a number of signatures needed to get the
money out. When you transport money you will be watched
by people who want to steal it from you, so make sure four
of you go at the same time and together. I will protect you
on these errands, but keep your affairs completely private
so no other outsiders know what you do with the money, or
when you leave with it." she advised, "Remember, too, that
money is not yours. It comes to you freely, yet you have no
need of it, for all your needs are provided. This money
comes to you in trust. You are stewards. You are to use it
for the poor and downtrodden."
She watched again. That seemed to sit just fine with the
kids. They were going through a change of shift. She waited
until they were all comfortable in their places.
Riata went on, "The Catholic Church is going to try to
take over your operation. They are going to come in here
and try to convince you this is God's work and that it is
properly to be held by the church. They will not do this
directly at first. They are sending down city officials to
attempt to close you unless you turn it over to the church.
They will threaten to close you down and do all sorts of
things to you. Fear not. All you need do is refuse. They
have no power to do these things to you, no matter how
much they threaten and sputter. The church will come in
and begin to speak to you real low key. They will present
themselves as having a real and genuine interest in your
welfare. They will show you how the vast resources of
the church is much better equipped to handle what you
are doing. They will try to show you how they have much
more experience. Know this. The church is only after all
the money you take in. They are extremely greedy and
they are envious of you and what you are doing. Do not let
them have it. Do not let them take over. Tell them to get
lost. I will be here when they come, and I will help you if
you need it, although I do not think you will need it.
Remember, if you need me, all you need do it hold a
picture of me in your mind and call me from within your
mind. I will come."
"Will we be able to see you again?" asked one of
the children.
"Yes, Daniel, you will. There will be two times you can
see me. I will come some days and make myself visible
only to you kids. We will sit and talk like old times.
The second time you will be able to see me is when
you become Masters. When you have committed to
higher law and live only that way you will be able to
see me at will. I will watch over you and when you
need help doing this, I will be there." she answered.
