I'm providing a real public service with today's facts.
I've got stats direct from the National Retail Federation,
which monitors things like this. According to the NRF,
over a third of survey respondents (37.3 percent) said
an evening out was the Valentine's Day gift that most
says "he or she cares." Flowers (20.1 percent) and
jewelry (18.4 percent) ranked second and third, while
receiving a greeting card (10.8 percent) or candy
(5.8 percent) rounded out the bottom.
Who was St. Valentine and how did he become
associated with a day for lovers?
The Catholic Church recognizes at least three different
saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were
martyred. According to one story, Valentine was a priest
who served during the reign of the Roman Emperor
Claudius II. The emperor outlawed marriage because
he decided that single men made better soldiers than
married men. Valentine defied Claudius and continued
to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When
his actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he
be executed. Other stories suggest that Valentine may
have been killed for helping Christians escape Roman
prisons. Pope Gelasius declared February 14
St. Valentine's Day around 498 A.D. Later, during the
Middle Ages, it was commonly believed in France and
England that February 14 was the beginning of birds'
mating season, which enhanced the idea that the
middle of February -- Valentine's Day -- should be a
day for romance.

Be Careful What You Wish For!

There once was this guy that got a dirty old lamp
for his birthday. He cleaned it up and POOF!--out
popped a genie!
"I shall give you three wishes. You may have
anything you like."
So the guys thinks for a minute and says, "I would
like a billion dollars."
"You shall have it," and the genie grants him the
wish. "Anything else?"
The guy thinks for a while. Then, "I would like a
VW Bug with A/C, power locks, power windows,
10-disk changer, you know the works."
"Your wish is my command. What is your last wish?"
"Hmmm. I think I'll save it for a rainy day."
"OK, suit yourself," says the genie.
So the guy gets in his new VW and goes for a
drive to show all his friends. He turns on the radio.
There's a very familiar commercial on. The guy starts
singing to it: "I wish I was an Oscar Meyer Wiener."
Wow! What a shock that would be. Funny isn't it.
Yet the warning is there. Be careful what you wish for
because you will most certainly get it.
Too few of us recognize the power of the spoken word
or the power of our minds. The things we think about
all day long will come to pass.
Many of those things turn out to be things we do not
want. That is why it is so important to control anger.
Those things we emotionally align ourselves with and
speak about are the things we get back.
It is fine if those things are positive, but what about the
times you slip and speak out in anger? Do you want
those things to come back?
In a very direct way these are the kinds of things you
wish for. You don't have to have "I wish" in front of
the subject.
That is also why those wishing for a million dollars
end up in trouble when they get it. Few people
recognize what happens when that kind of a windfall
arrives. It is deadly, to say the least. One is far better
to build up to it rather than have it dumped into
your life.
Do you realize that not one person thinks they will
have trouble if they won a million dollars, yet the
records are staggeringly dismal. It usually ends up
in broken marriages, delinquent kids, drug related
incidents and altogether ruined lives. The vast
majority end up like this.
Be careful what you wish for.
Those who wish for each day to be successful and
happy are the ones who win. Think on this for a minute.
If you wish for each day to be successful, and if you are
working on your plan to become wealthy, are you not
better off? Even if only seventy five percent of your days
were successful you would still arrive at your destination.
That way you build up your experience of handling
money. You learn the things you must do as you
proceed to your objective. When you arrive you not
only had fun getting there but you can have fun enjoying
it without fear of ruining yours or anyone else's life.
You also have the self esteem that goes with doing
it yourself, a vital ingredient for continued success,
happiness, poise, power, peace and joy.

Windows Me.
If you've used Windows 98 in the past, you may notice one big
difference with Windows Me as soon as you choose the Start menu:
The Internet Explorer Favorites list doesn't appear on the
Windows Me Start menu. You can still use Favorites in the
Internet Explorer in Windows Me, however -- they just don't
appear on the Start menu.
If you want, you can add your Favorites back to the Start menu.
Simply right click on a blank space in the taskbar, select
Properties, click on the Advanced tab, click the Add button, then
click the Browse button to find the program. Click Next, select
the Start menu folder in which you want to place the program,
click Next, enter the program's name, click Finish, then click
OK.

There are few hollow spaces in the hands and feet. The bones are
filled with different stages of bone marrow maturation. The soft
tissue surrounding the bones is made up of muscle, fat, skin,
nerves and blood vessels. On the outside or exterior, we have 20
nails and very fine hairs.
(Damage).
Fingers are usually the first or the exploratory parts of the
body to be damaged. We use them to explore. thus they are first
to come in contact with an unusual or dangerous object. Fingers
and toes are fragile as you can see by their size and numbers.
There isn't the massive strength of a large surface to absorb or
deflect strong blows or the shock. Can see how they are easily
broken.and by the same token you can see how difficult they
could be to fix. Breaks are not the only damage they receive.
Other damage may come from a cut or bruise or burn.heat and or
chemical. Your toes carry a lot of weight and may step in places
where there is unsuspected danger.nails, heat, chemical, no
ground at all. The unexpected shift of the weight can cause you
to loose your balance and injuries will occur: mild or serious,
or even death.
(Repairs)
The material and the procedures used to repair damage all depend
on its origin and the (body) location. And breaks can even
repaired with Popsicle sticks, adhesive tape and time. Whatever
works to get the bone back into alignment, to heal and to be
infection-free. (Our son broke a little finger playing with our
family doctor's kids.he was taped together with a Popsicle stick
and electrical tape, had it re-aligned in the hospital, (no
warning of the ensuing pain), and re-taped with the same
Popsicle stick and (hospital) adhesive tape. Whatever works!)

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures

"Why did you leave?" asked a young one with
particular insight.
"You are very wise Angelo. Yes I was shot, but I knew
he was coming. I let it happen because the people
were asking me for miracle after miracle. They were
depending on me for what they could do for themselves.
They had to learn not to depend on me. They still think
it is I who heals them, or this shrine heals them or this
holy place, as they call it, heals them. Yet it is only their
belief they will be healed that heals them. I left so I
could be free to continue to serve you and others. As
it was the crowds were taking more and more of my
time. Do you understand that?" she asked.
"Yes, but we love you and want you!" she said with
a tear in her eye.
While remaining invisible Riata went to the youngster
and gave her a big physical hug. The child beamed.
Riata whispered in her ear, "I love you Angelo, with all
my heart. I will be near you whenever you want. All
you need to do is call and I will answer you if you pay
attention. Is that okay?"
Angelo nodded her head in agreement.
"Listen kids," Riata broadcast to their minds, "I want
you to each continue your meditations. When you get
to a point where you commit yourself to higher law
and mean it you will then be able to do the things I
do. It is important for you to do this. Otherwise you
will be just like the people in the crowds out there.
Go inside to meet your Maker and all will be well."
She heard back from each one of them. They
all agreed.
Up at the retreat the priest was kept in isolation.
He could not understand it and when he asked why,
he was advised that for the first month every person
who came to the retreat was kept alone so they
could rest and find themselves.
He asked to see the Bishop. His request was refused,
in that he was advised the Bishop, too, was in isolation.
He asked to see the Cardinal. He was again refused,
for the same reason.
He was there alone, and he did not like what he was
thinking about. He had no idea he was being held
captive. Neither did he have any idea the Cardinal
was not even there.
After a period of asking he began to get more
demanding. He was advised that he was to take time
between himself and God, that all would be well, and
if he did not refrain from his demands some of his
privileges would be removed.
The priest had been there just long enough to develop
a clear mind. He suddenly understood he was a
prisoner. From that day he began to plot his escape.
He vowed to be a model "prisoner" so as to arouse
no suspicions.
It was not a week later when one of the priests made
the mistake of leaving the gate to the retreat open.
Without notice or even going back to his room for his
clothes the priest slipped silently out the gate and
into the free world.
The Cardinal was called to the phone. It was the
retreat. As the Cardinal was listening to the voice on
the other end of the line, his face went white as a sheet.
He became ashen and sullen.
"Find HIm. Catch Him!" came the loud commands from
his mouth. He slammed the phone down onto the
receiver. His anger now had his face red and he shouted
commands to all his staff. They all scurried as if from
a tempest.
Now what was he going to do. The Pope was due to
arrive here in days and this lunatic priest was on the
loose. He had to be found.
That would be difficult. The city was being decorated,
bleachers built, facilities being readied for the visit.
Tourists were pouring in to the city from everywhere.
Even the problem of the orphanage was put on the
back burner by city officials.
The city was also filling with nuns and priests from
all over South America. It was a big event.

I was taking a shower when my 2-year-old son came into the
bathroom and wrapped himself in toilet paper. Although he made a
mess, he looked adorable, so I ran for my camera and took a few
shots. They came out so well that I had copies made and included
one with each of our Christmas cards. Days later, a relative
