What is the origin of "love" in tennis?
Why do we say "love" to indicate a score of zero in
tennis? There are several theories. One states that
"love" comes from the French "l'oeuf," meaning "egg."
The idea is that the round egg resembles a zero.
Another possibility is that the scoring term is adapted
from the phrase "to play for love of the game." That
means to play for nothing, or to not play seriously.
Did Frank Abagnale Jr. really impersonate a pilot,
doctor, and lawyer while still a teenager?
Yes, he did all that and more. During his brief criminal
career, the high-school drop-out successfully passed
himself off as a co-pilot for Pan Am, a pediatrician,
a lawyer, a sociology professor, and even an FBI
agent. Abagnale didn't just CLAIM to be these things.
He actually was employed doing them. As a lawyer,
he worked for the state's attorney general office (that's
right. He worked FOR the prosecution). As a doctor,
he worked as the supervising resident of a hospital,
in charge of numerous interns and nurses. He taught
real college courses as a sociology professor. But he
didn't actually fly planes. He merely used his co-pilot
identity to fly free all over the world and to appear
credible while cashing fake Pan Am payroll checks -
among other schemes - to the tune of over $2.5 million.
He impersonated an FBI agent to quickly get back a
fake check he had passed that had his REAL name
and address on it. He did all these things before he
was twenty-one and gained the dubious honor of
being the youngest person ever on the FBI's Most
Wanted list.

Little Things Do Mean A Lot

While I am always on the lookout for ways to market myself
as a speaker it is often a time consuming task and one I am
not overly fond of. Once in awhile something you do
inadvertently turns out to be an effective marketing
strategy. Let me explain.
Last summer I was driving alone through Northern Ontario
Canada on my way to Lake Superior country for my annual solo
camping trip. I do this once a year to find solitude and
peace in the beauty of nature and to recharge my emotional
batteries . As I was driving through a small town between
Sudbury and Sault Ste Marie I passed an insurance business
which I knew was owned by the family of a young woman I had
gone to College. I began to
reminisce and wondered where Margaret was and what had
happened to her since college days. On the spur of the
moment I pulled into the parking lot, went in and met her
brother who had taken over the business after their Father
had retired.
After discovering that my friend from college was alive and
well and now a director of education in Southern Ontario I
gave her brother my card with a request to tell Margaret
that I had dropped in and was asking for her. I continued
my way north.
One year later I received a call from Margaret telling me
that her brother had indeed given her my message. After a
long conversation during which we caught up on all the news
Margaret invited me to conduct a one day seminar with her
administration and office staff. I agreed and we started
making plans and fleshing out the details of the day.
The day took place on the 16th of April/03 and went very
well. For my efforts I was wined, dined and housed in a very
nice hotel. Best of all I not only received my full fee for
a one day seminar, but also a very healthy order
for 250 copies of my books.
If I hadn?t stopped on a whim to inquire about a college
friend from years ago I would have missed out on a full day
seminar at full fee, a healthy order for my books and a
glowing testimonial letter from a satisfied school board
official.
The lesson? Those little, unassuming, spur of the moment
gestures of interest in others often open doors of
opportunity you hadn?t even give a thought to.

How to properly remove programs
from your computer. This does not
apply to Windows XP...
Windows has a little program that helps you
delete applications safely and CORRECTLY.
Why correctly? Because a lot of new software
leaves entries in the Registry, and unless you
uninstall your programs, the excess code gets
left behind.So when you want to delete an
application, follow these steps:
Click Start then Choose Settings and Control
Panel. In the Control Panel window, double-click
the Add/Remove Programs icon. Select the
application you want to remove. Click Add/Remove
and follow the instructions to remove the
application. It will show you dialog boxes to
assist you in the process.
When you remove programs, you may be asked
if you want to remove files called "DLLs". These
are shared by other programs. If you want to be
real safe, just answer "No" to the question.

We are discovering a lot about the foods we eat: how
they support our bodies and how they may also harm us.
I think some of the most frequent questions I get in my
nursing clinics is about fats. The terms are so confusing.
Even if you have the best of intentions to live a healthier
lifestyle, it takes determination and a good dictionary to
figure out what you need to do. Adding to the confusion
is the fact that health care personnel including nutritionists
don't always agree amongst themselves. So it leaves
you to do your own research. This article is by
Dr. Laz Bannock, a very respected international
nutritionist. I am using his work here for two reasons.
First, it is easy to understand and he gives the latest
thoughts to learn from. But it also has some research
links I thought would be helpful for you to keep. The
references come from recognized and mainstream
journals. If you wish to read the original articles, go to
your local library and ask them to get them for you.
You may end up paying a small fee, but this is the
process by which you can find any information that is
mentioned in a bibliography or resource list. If you
are in an educational facility, ask the librarian to find
it for you. Seniors in many instances are exempt from
any fees. The numbers throughout the article refer to
these special reports and this reference list is added
the end of this article.

Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began, and
David Wylie, age 20, were selected, by a
stranger in town, to take a dangerous trip, together.
The idea was that each was to take only the clothes
on their back, and go anywhere in the world where
the stranger took them. They were to be left there
to find their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they were.
Upon their safe return there was a million dollars
waiting in their bank account for them. If one did not
make it that money would go to the survivor. If neither
made it the money would go to their families.
The story deals with their adventures along the way
and leads into the only way they could survive. That was
for Eloise to learn higher law and commit her life to
that end. Along the way she learns how to perform
many a miracle.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures

When the Mayor opened the Cardinal's office, the secretary
screamed and ran.
The Mayor barged into the Cardinal's private office to
find him sitting there at the desk, forlorn.
"Now see what you have done? No one wants to get
near me. I am doomed. My life is over." he spat angrily,
"You and your evil ways. You think you can get away
with murder? How often have you done this? Is this the
way the church operates behind closed doors? Is this
how you control the people? You Bastard."
The shot rang throughout the office and the whole of
the attached church. His aids came running just in
time for the second shot.
As they came into the office they were greeted by a
sight that horrified them. Yes, two men were dead, but
that is not what horrified them. The bodies of the dead
men were being consumed by the blood. It was burning
them away and devouring everything about the bodies.
It also burnt the Cardinal's desk, the chair and the floor
where they lay. Within minutes there was nothing left of
the bodies, nothing. One would not even know they existed.
All that was left were the burns on the desk and floor,
nothing more.
Suddenly the door opened and in burst the priest. He
had run quite a distance and was out of breath. Seeing
the stains on the floor, he inquired what had happened.
Upon being told he was both relieved and afraid.
"Phone the retreat and have them send the Bishop here."
was all he could say.
Leaving, he returned to his church. There he had to
forcibly take over the head position once more.
The Bishop was released the moment the news had
reached the retreat. They went to get him and give him
the awful news. Everyone knew the Bishop would
assume the responsibilities until a new Cardinal was
appointed.
A car was called and the Bishop was driven to the
Cardinal's office. There he took charge immediately.
He was familiar enough with events and plans that it
was merely added responsibility. Next week the Popes
visit would help clarify a lot of confusing situations. Until
them he was in charge and would remain so.
He mused on how strange events often turned. Here
he was pining away his time in the retreat because of
this now dead Cardinal. He had been pondering his own
suicide when, suddenly, the door to his "suite" opened
and he was given the news. Now, he was in charge.
Now he was the Cardinal. My, how things change so
fast.
He issued instructions for a new desk to be brought in
and this old one burned. He issued instructions for
contractors to be brought in and the complete office to
be redone, from top to bottom, within a week. He didn't
care if that meant working three crews for an around
the clock operation. It had to be finished before
the Pope arrived.
The contractors began immediately and work was
under way. They did run three crews It was busy day
and night.
Riata, meanwhile had returned home and was discussing
things with her family. They heard of the Cardinal's death
and the Mayor's death. Word like that gets around fast.
Riata revealed what she had done and the rest of the
story fit right in. They all knew that once the Cardinal's
sins were made public he would be doomed.
Little did the Bishop know he might be treated to a similar
fate only because of his guilty conscience. The priest, too,
would be let go for only a short while and his fate would
be determined.
Riata told of the story of how the children had resisted
the authoritarian punch of the Mayor, and the sweet
talking of the Cardinal. They had followed her
commands to the letter. She was proud of them.
And, so, the events of the day were over without any
major glitches or repercussions, or so everyone
thought.
Truth has a way of rising to the surface.
