Why can't I take the tags off my mattress?
Does your pillow or mattress have a large tag that reads
"DO NOT REMOVE UNDER PENALTY OF LAW"? Well, feel
free to remove it. You won't go to jail. The tags are placed
there to protect consumers by letting them know what
materials went into their stuffed furniture and bed items.
It's against the law for the SELLERS of these items to remove
the tag. For many years, however, a lot of average folk
worried about taking off the tags. In order not to confuse
consumers, the tags have not been modified to read
"NOT TO BE REMOVED, EXCEPT BY THE CONSUMER".
Why does laundry that is dried outside smell so nice?
This one's dedicated to my Mom, who still insists on
hanging the clothes outside, even in the dead of winter.
Clothes that are dried outside DO smell better because
of a process called photolysis. What happens is this: sunlight
breaks down compounds in the laundry that cause odor, such
as perspiration and body oils.

F.C.C. Clears Internet Access by Power Lines

WASHINGTON, Oct. 14 - Clearing the way for homes and
businesses to receive high-speed Internet services through
their electrical outlets, the Federal Communications
Commission adopted rules on Thursday that would
enable the utility companies to offer an alternative to
the broadband communications services now provided
by cable and phone companies.
As a further spur to the rollout of broadband Internet services,
the F.C.C. also ruled that the regional Bell companies do not
have to give competitors access to fiber optic lines that reach
into consumers' home - a decision that prompted two of the
Bells, SBC Communications and BellSouth, to announce
that they would move quickly to build new fiber optic
networks in residential neighborhoods. The ruling was
criticized by rivals of the Bells and consumer groups, which
called it anticompetitive and said it would lead to
higher prices.
For the electric companies' part, broadband Internet
service is more than a year away from becoming widely
available. But the agency's ruling is expected to increase
significantly the level of investment and interest by the
utilities, which had been stymied in previous attempts
to offer new services over power lines. They reach more
American homes than either telephone lines or
television cables.
So far, the technology has been limited mainly to
experiments around the country, although a commercial
version recently became available in some communities
near Cincinnati.
"Today is a banner day, and I think years from now we
will look back and see it as an historical day for us,'' said
Michael K. Powell, the F.C.C. chairman. "This is
groundbreaking stuff.''
Known as broadband over power lines, or B.P.L., the
technology uses a special modem that plugs into
electrical outlets. So far, it has been offered at speeds of
1 to 3 megabits a second, which is comparable to
broadband service over cable modems or conventional
phone lines - though not as fast as the 5 megabits a
second achievable through the residential fiber optic
lines just now being introduced by the Bell companies.
An obstacle to the use of power lines to carry
communications traffic has been the electromagnetic
interference the technology can cause to various types
of radio signals. The commission ruled that it would
tolerate a small amount of radio interference in certain
areas by the new service in exchange for making the
broadband market more competitive.
Amateur radio operators and public safety officials had
asked the commission to move slowly in the area
because of the interference created by the service. The
agency responded by setting up a system to monitor
interference and restricting the service in areas where
it could jeopardize public safety, like areas around
airports and near Coast Guard stations.
Officials noted that there have already been field tests
in 18 states of the B.P.L. technology. One company,
Current Communications, has recently begun to offer
broadband service near Cincinnati in a joint venture
with Cinergy, the Midwest power and energy company.
The service is priced at $29.95 to $49.95 a month,
depending on the speed.

Now do you see why I understand? People would much
rather listen to their friends and ask for advice and
confirmation from them. They won't even listen to their
doctors or other health care professionals, but give complete
control of their most precious health to people who know
little about it but give the impression that they are experts.
So like the Amish farmer, it takes courage to step out and
seek help from different sources. Don't confuse the use

Tim came up to her and faced her square. He
reached out and took her in his arms to comfort
her. She melted into him and just stayed there for
a while, not moving. Then she moved her groin into
him. She began to breath faster. She kept moving
her groin in and out ensuring she rubbed Tim each
time. Tim began to respond. His loins were growing
even without his wishes. This woman, making such
movements, brought thoughts and ideas he had not
been thinking about. His body, so long away from
any earlier satisfaction, was responding with a
ferocity he could hardly manage. Sharon, too, was
out of control. She was moving on him as if she
were an animal. The pent up emotions within her
let go as if in explosion. "Tim, take me. I want
you in me. Take me. Take me." She was commanding,
not asking or pleading. She required this action.
"Sharon, no. I will not. This is not the time
nor the place." He stopped his movements. She knew
it was over.
She stepped back and slapped his face with a
vicious force. "You bastard. You think you are
holier than all of us. You think I would throw
myself at anybody. You selfish bastard. I thought
you loved me and would do anything for me." She
turned and ran, crying all the way. She ran fast
and without watching where she was going or what
she was doing.
Suddenly there was a cat coming out of the
bush at full speed heading right for her. She
didn't see it coming and kept running and crying.
In the flash of an eye the cat was on her and had
her down.
Tim was there as fast. He stopped and
concentrated his energies. Broadcasting them
directly at the cat he commanded "BE GONE" The
cat, now enveloped by love, knew exactly what it
had to do. It let go of Sharon and moved away.
Sharon was blood from head to foot. She was
terrified. The cat had scratched her, ripped her
clothes and sunk it's teeth into her shoulder,
very near her throat. One more bite and it would
have had Sharon's throat and snapped her neck.
She was shivering out of control. She was
going into a state of shock. Tim laid her onto her
back and straightened out her legs. Standing at
her feet he became calm and held out his hands,
palms toward Sharon. "Rise up and walk." His words
were barely audible if anyone had been nearby, but
to Sharon they entered her body from every pore
and reverberated with the love and energy she had
felt only once before. She knew what was
happening. She stilled, and let it happen. Then,
quietly, slowly, she rose. There was no more blood
on her clothes. There were no more wounds on her
body. There were no more emotions, except pure,
lust free love for Tim. She had been cleansed of
all the heavy emotions and turmoil.
"Shall we return to the house, of would you
like to keep walking?" Tim asked her calmly.
"I am sorry for hitting you and calling you
names. I don't know what happened to me."
"That's okay. I knew it was coming."
"How do you keep so calm? You are in complete
control all the time. I try but I can't seem to do
it. I try to be like you. I try to believe I can
live by higher law. I try to do the things you do,
but I fail. Help me Tim, please." Sharon was meek
and humble. Her request was genuine and born out
of the frustration of living the life of man.
"You find you cannot do this because you do
not yet recognize your enemies. There are
challenges to overcome and in the overcoming you
have failed to see what is holding you back. We
will talk of that. Sit."
They both sat down. Sharon, almost in
resignation, lay her head on Tim's shoulder. They
sat motionless for a long time, just watching the
herds below them. Their minds were wandering
in the peace newly found.
Finally Sharon lifted her head. "Show me where
I'm having trouble."
"Sharon, did you ever hear your folks say,
when you wanted something they thought was beyond
you or where you were acting with a bit of an
attitude, 'Who do you think you are, the Queen?'
or 'Being a prima dona today are we?'"
"Yes. Mostly when I was more mature than the
day before." Sharon was digging deep into her past
and looking at the times her folks said things
like that. She was able to see that every time she
wanted to strike out doing things she "felt" she
had to do, that pushing from within, those were
the times her folks would pull her back by saying
something like that. Another of their oft repeated
sayings was "What do you think, money grows on
trees?" or "There ain't no free lunch." or "That
might be a good idea but get your education
first." All were things that kept bringing her
back into the human condition and kept her from
being who she wanted to be.
