TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -

How did they sleep at night?

Who was Madame Pompadour?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

What is our body's largest organ?

Skin!

How high were women's hairdos in the eighteenth century?

Women's elaborate powdered pompadour hairdos,
fashionable in the 1770s, could rise to three feet high!
Men wore big hair too, but not quite so big as the women.
The towering hairdos were piled high on wire frames
and held in place with grease. They were often decorated
with flowers, ribbons, and sometimes even toys to make
miniature scenes, such as sailing ships.

STRANGE BITS AND PIECES!

Americans write approximately 50 billion checks a year making
it the second most frequent payment method used after cash.

<><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><><>

TITLE ARTICLE - - -
-----------------

Sitting On The Back Porch
by Cathy Bryant

Yep, that's where I wrote this article - sitting on the back
porch.

Well, that's probably inaccurate; actually, the idea for this
article came to me while I was sitting on the back porch. I
was enjoying my after-lunch coffee along with an
unseasonably warm (but delightful) October afternoon,
when it occurred to me that I was indulging myself in one
of the true luxuries of the work-from-home lifestyle.

I began to flash back as to what it was like working the
more traditional 9-to-5 job, and once again I realized
how blessed I was to be able to work from home on
MY schedule, not someone else's!

There's no denying it - I'm the toughest boss I've ever
had - but even the most compassionate employers
have no way of knowing, let alone accommodating,
those times when you just simply have to say "STOP!"

You know what I'm talking about - you've been hard
at work on your job for weeks, giving your all to your
employer, and all at once your mind and body says
to you, "I've got to get out of here!" We've all been
there, right? You just want a break, a chance to be
by yourself and sort through all the things that are
weighing on your mind. Perhaps you'll just sneak
outside for a few minutes, take a walk, grab a cup
of java... you know it will make you more productive.

Sometimes you can do that...but more often than not,
you can't.

Or you won't, because you don't want your supervisor
to view you as a "slacker."

So you plug away, not able to give your all to your
job simply because you're not able to refresh
yourself on YOUR timetable.

No so when you work from home.

Make no mistake; I work very long hours - many
more than I did at any of my traditional jobs.
Sometimes I work as many as 14 hours a day. But
when the time comes to take a break, regardless of
the hour, I have the freedom to do just that.

And that's when I head for the back porch.

What If...You Really Believed You
Could Feel Well Again?
PART 10 of 10

Changing the status of your health is in your hands...no
one else's. No one can feel what you feel…your pain...your
feeling of hopelessness, your confusion, your fears. But
what if what the AMA says is a possible solution. Will you
be one of the few to take advantage of changing your health?
Yes, it costs money. But so do the drugs you must have: even
with the deductible. And so do the "over the counter (OTC)
products you take in between…so do the painful days and
nights, the missed events, the family breakups. The choice
is yours. The courage is yours, even if you don't think you
have it, it's in you. Choose to live with health to play with
your children's children.

Below are the links to the information on the America
Medical Association and its recently released policy on
the use of nutritional supplements. I hope by now you
will have learned that not all supplements are alike and
your purchase should never be based on price: ingredients
and the manufacturing processes are much more important
to your health. Check out the standards the company meets.
Make sure they abide by FDA and GMP regulations. That
will be your assurance of quality and professionalism.
I have also added the link to the http://www.RichDreams.com
site. If this kind of information interests you, please
spend some time there. I would also be interested in
knowing that.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many
adventures and many places.
As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

They touched down in front of Sharon's home.
The hour was midnight. There was only one light on
in the house. The family had gone to bed and left
a courtesy light on for Sharon.

"I'll leave you here, Sharon. I want you to
remember to remain calm. I know and you know you
are going to be talking to your Dad about the TV
thing. He will be on the defensive, and ready to
fight. Don't fight. Be calm. You can voice your
disappointment and then leave it alone."

"I know. I'll try. Thank you for this day. I
am glad we went over to Sonora's. You have a good
night and I'll talk to you tomorrow. Okay?"

"Sounds fine to me" Tim gave her a peck on the
cheek, then turned to leave.

Sharon walked up to the house, turned to wave,
then disappeared within. No one was up. She turned
out the light and went to her room, got into her
night clothes and went to bed. She lay awake for a
long time thinking about all the things that
happened this day. It always seemed that way when
she was with Tim. There were a lot of things
happen. Summarizing her day, she had gone down
town to the fire, with her Dad, then over to Tim's
with all those folks, then over to Africa and now
back home. Wow! What a day. Sharon had lots to
think about.

The real truth was Tim didn't know if Sharon
was going to commit to living by higher law. He
thought her attraction to him was what was keeping
her in the game, but if he were not around, would
she continue to work toward living by higher law?
He did not think so. He felt this was a case of
the parable of the sower of which Jesus spoke. He
thought Sharon might be interested so long as she
wanted to be with him, but if he were not in her
life she would soon turn to other interests. You
know, the seed that was cast onto good, but
shallow soil, that germinated and grew for a
little while?

On his way home Tim thought he would go
through the downtown area to see what was
happening. There were lights all over, lighting up
everything. The firemen and police were still
around maintaining control and preventing looting.

The first aid station was still there and
there were still a lot of folks there. Most of
them were fine now, but just wanted to stick
around to see what, if anything, would happen
next.

Tim walked over to a policeman standing there
watching what was going on. He was standing in
front of The Pinehill Sound. Tim recognized him as
the new Chief of Police. His name was Russel
Burke. "Hello Chief!"

"Oh hello there Mr. Henry. How are you
tonight?"

"I'm fine, Chief. My name is Tim. I'm the
oldest boy. My brother is Tom."

"I know your Dad and your Mom because of Ben
Striker, but I never did get to meet you boys. You
folks certainly did help us out today. I don't
know what we would have done without you. There
are a lot of folk who would be dead now if it were
not for you Henrys and Ben Striker. How do you do
that stuff anyway? That's just a plain miracle."

Tim knew the Chief was just talking and didn't
really want to know how he did it. "It wasn't much
Chief. We did only what we had to do. No miracle,
just doing our duty. Thank you for your
appreciation. By the way, young Billy Hendricks
was helping out too. Did you see him? And the
Whites?"

"Yes, Tim, I did see them. That is quite a
team you have. This town owes you a huge debt of
gratitude."

"No it doesn't Chief. We only did what we had
to do. You would have done the same. Look at all
the work the police and firemen did. What would
this town be without you guys?"

"I guess we were all busy ... LOOK OUT!

As they were standing there one of the fronts
to one of the buildings across the street began to
topple. A huge section about 40 feet long and 15
feet high was leaning out toward the street. It
had been unstable all day. A firemen, from on top
of the ladder truck's extension ladder was trying
to knock it down. His last attempt started the
whole action into motion. Slowly, at first, the
wall began to move. The fireman yelled and
everyone on the ground ran for cover.

The wall as if in slow motion, leaned out a
couple feet. The concrete blocks and stone from
which it was made started to come off the
uppermost parts. They fell nearly straight down to
the sidewalk below. The wall was still in motion
and leaning out further and further. More blocks
fell. And then the wall tumbled completely. It
leaned outward until it was nearly horizontal,
then it collapsed, leaving all contact with the
building.
