TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -

Who invented embalming?

Is it true that the ancient Egyptians embalmed their cats?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

Who invented the toothbrush?

The toothbrush has been around a long time. The first brush
with actual bristles was invented in 1498 in China. At that
time, the bristles were natural - taken from hogs and
horses. In 1938, Du Pont invented nylon bristles, which were
far more sanitary.

Is it true that embalmers sometimes took corpses on tour to
attract business?

It's not easy being a salesman when you have no product to
show! So, yes, enthusiastic embalmers eager to sell the
public on the new art of embalming sometimes liked to take
their handiwork on the road. The corpses were exhibited at
country fairs and in the windows of barbershops.

Read It Right

A state trooper spied a car puttering along at 22 MPH. So he
turned on his lights and pulled the driver over. Approaching
the car, he noticed that five old guys were inside, and they
looked wide-eyed and terribly pale.

The driver pleaded with him, "Officer, I don't understand, I
was doing exactly the speed limit! What seems to be the
problem?"

"Sir," the officer replies, "You weren't speeding, but
driving slower than the speed limit can also be dangerous."

"I beg to differ, Officer, I was doing the speed limit
exactly: twenty-two miles an hour!" the old man said.

The trooper, chuckling, explained to him that "22" was the
route number, not the speed limit. A bit embarrassed, the
man grinned and thanked the officer for pointing out his
error.

"But before I let you go, Sir, I have to ask... Is everyone
in this car ok? These guys seem awfully shaken."

"Oh, they'll be all right in a minute," the old man said.
"We just got off Route 119."

How many times in life do we read things the wrong way? How
many times do we get into arguments with our significant
other only because we misinterpreted what we saw? How many
times do we misunderstand the bosses motivation? How many
times do we scold a child for what we think we saw, when the
truth is really something different?

Getting through life is a tough chore. We so often fail to
realize a truth when we see it. It takes time and experience
to begin to know things for what they are.

As we go through life we have different motivations at
different times. Testosterone levels in males can create an
ego that borders on straight ignorance. The need to protect
her family can have a woman as blind as the male above.

Given a few years where physical coupling is not so
important, and the kids have left home to start their own
lives we tend to look at life a lot different.

When we are twenty we think we will water ski forever. The
very idea that one day we will not be so interested in it,
seems so preposterous we discard it immediately. Yet, when
ten years go by, we somehow are not quite as interested in
the sport as we once were.

This misinterpretation of events is a natural part of human
growth. For those now over fifty it would be a good idea to
consider there is no need to take guilt with you as baggage,
because of mistakes when you were young. I know some of them
might have been big ones, regrettable ones, ones you wish
you could correct. That is past. Today is today. Live now.

For those younger that fifty it would be a good idea if you
took some time to seriously think about these points.
Consider your own motivations as you proceed. Consider, too,
that as you become older you mature in wisdom. Start
thinking today of having the grace and strength that the
wisdom of years can bring you.

So often we scare from spiritual discussions and knowledge,
because, somehow we think it is religious. When that thought
hits you might wonder why it would be wrong if it were
religious.

Today we are seeing things happen globally. Years ago all we
could see was the local occurrence. Today we see movements,
actions, situations that appear to be on a global scale. We
see religions coming apart and wonder why. We see big
companies coming apart and wonder why.

Take a good long look at the universal law "As ye sow, so
shall ye reap."

What is happening in the world outside your door is a direct
function of that law. Religions coming apart and companies
coming apart are a reaping for all the sowing done in the
past.

Some chose to say there is nothing wrong with the faith,
simply because a man in the faith does wrong. Yet the faith
spawned hundreds of men doing wrong, and, who knows, maybe
thousands doing wrong. In the commercial world the same
thing occurs. Most companies, while building, are somewhat
idealistic, honorable and willing to serve. Eventually they
get to be so large they are unwieldy. Then, profit alone
drives them, even if it hurts people along the way. The
rewards of that kind of behavior will get an individual, a
company, a religion, a government, the world. It is in the
wrong thinking, the wrong interpretation, we get ourselves
into trouble.

If we would all have an unconditional, belly deep conviction
and understanding of that law, "As ye sow . . ." then we
would understand and interpret far different what we see
happening in the world today.

Some Thoughts On Chelation Therapy
Learning About Possible
Metal Toxicity In Your Body
PART 10 of 11

There seem to be many claims that cannot be substantiated
and they include (amongst many others) include treatment of
angina , gangrene , arthritis, multiple sclerosis ,
Parkinson's disease, ...and Alzheimer's ... psoriasis. It
reads like a medical text and I do not want to add to the
confusion by even mentioning any of these. Some of these
suggested uses are for conditions that are potentially
life-threatening. Please do not do anything or plan to do
anything without second and third opinions. As I mentioned
previously, I wouldn’t even consider many of these
degenerative medical conditions to be treated with
chelation. (JAMA)

As I am reading list after list of conditions that could be
treated with this chemical, I am starting to get a little
suspicious. In one spot it speaks of calcium being used as
an antioxidant. Calcium is not my idea of an antioxidant. I
know it as a mineral.
http://kidshealth.org/teen/misc/mineral_chart.html Therefore
I set this site aside. I am only trying to find trustworthy
sites and my intelligence is saying that site doesn’t meet
my credibility test for now. It doesn’t mean it can’t act as
an antioxidant, but for now, I won’t spend any time checking
it out.

These are all degenerative conditions. And the American
Medical Association has already told us they can be reversed
under certain conditions, so this chelation knowledge needs
a whole lot more exploring for me and maybe for you. I am
open-minded to a point. However I do not want to mislead
anyone. For now, I think I will set this research aside.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to

"I lived in a poor neighborhood in a city
called Matto Grosso. Your Granddad will take you
there later today. It's about a 1000 miles
downstream from here if you go by river.

When I was young my Mom and Dad not only had
no money but what money they did get the spent on
liquor. They were drunk all the time. I and my
sister and brothers had to scrounge the streets
looking for something to eat. Very early on we
learned how to steal, lie, cheat. We would grab
some food and run. Sometimes we got caught but
mostly we learned to get away with it.

People used to call us names and scurry us
away for they knew when we came around we were
intent on stealing. That became a way of life.

We were dirty. We never had a bath, never
washed our faces or hands. Our clothes were ripped
and torn and had never been washed. So you might
imagine we were some kind of sight.

Kids gather together in groups. In my case I
joined a bunch of tough kids who didn't care about
anyone or anything. To us the only real value in
life came from what we took and if we had to hurt
someone in the process, well, too bad.

Later, when we went through puberty we all got
involved with sex. We had the same attitude about
sex as we had about everything else. It did not
matter if the partner we were with wanted sex of
not. If we wanted it we took it. And if more than
one of us wanted it we all took it.

In short we were tough, so long as we stuck
together, and we hurt a lot of people. We didn't
care.

One day there was a delivery man come into the
neighborhood. He had a passenger in his truck. The
delivery man came up the stairs in a building that
was mostly vacant, but we had been living there.
He knocked on the door of the room where we were.
We were scared. We thought it was the police. We
opened the door and fled, but before we did I took
out my knife and I stabbed the man many times. I
thought sure he would be dead. Then I ran with the
others. When we got downstairs there was that
other man in the truck. We knew he would get tired
of waiting and go look for his friend, then we
could steal the packages in the truck.

Sure enough the man got out of the truck. He
was a huge man, big. He went into the building to
find his friend and we began to take the parcels
from the truck. We thought we had lots of time so
we weren't in any rush, but before you knew it the
big man was standing in the doorway of the
building and the man I had stabbed and left for
dead, was walking beside him.

Our first reaction was to run, get out of
there. I was confused. I was the only one who knew
I had stabbed that man. There was no way he would
live. I stabbed him right through the heart. He
was bleeding badly and losing blood fast. He
should have been dead. I was scared.

The big man raised his hands and shouted and
the first thing you know I was frozen in my
tracks. I couldn't move. Neither could any of my
buddies.

The big man came over to us. I thought sure we
were going to get it this time. He spoke to all of
us but it seemed to me that he was looking or
speaking only to me. He told us he would be back
here tomorrow at 2:00 in the afternoon, sitting on
the curb, if anyone of us wanted to know how his
partner was able to live. Any of us or all of us
could come and talk with him.

There was something strange about the man. I
didn't sense any anger. I didn't sense any
meanness, or toughness. All I felt was a strange
feeling that I was loved. forgiven, accepted. I
had never, in all my life, felt like that. I
didn't trust it but I liked it.

The next day, sure enough, there was that big
man sitting on the curb at 2:00 o'clock. I was
watching him from behind a window in a building up
the street. He just stayed there, for the longest
time. I was again feeling loved.

The other gang members thought this guy was
nuts. They figured he was just another missionary
come down here to earn his stripes. They used to
come down here and talk with us but all they had
were empty words. Once they went back we never saw
them again. They used to go back to their churches
and brag that they had been down in the depths of
hell trying to convert the devil. I guess that
made them look good, gave them brownie points or
something. One thing was sure, they were down here
for their sake, not ours.

Anyway, I told the gang I was going to go out
and talk to this man. They all laughed at me, but
I went anyway. I was scared and pulled all at the
same time. It took me nearly an hour before I got
close enough that we could talk. He seemed to know
I was coming. Without turning and looking at me he
called me by name and asked me to come sit down on
the curb beside him. He said he wasn't going to
hurt me."
