TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -

Will I see anything special in the sky? (at Autumnal
Equinox)

What special event happens at the South Pole on this date?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

Can bright light cause you to sneeze?

Most definitely. There's even a name for it: the photic
sneeze reflex (basically, "sneeze caused by light"). Not
everyone is affected. Estimates range from one in every ten
people to one in every four have this reflex, which is
thought to be inherited from your genes. Some research
suggests the photic sneeze reflex may be caused by an
accidental crossing of nerve signals involved in normal
sneezing and pupil dilation. The reflex occurs only after a
person has been adapted to the dark for at least five
minutes, THEN exposed to bright light suddenly.

What IS the autumnal equinox?

It's an event that happens only once a year. Today, thanks
to the motion of the Earth around the sun and the fact that
the Earth is tilted, the sun crosses over the Earth's
equator on its way south. The autumnal equinox marks the
beginning of autumn in the Northern Hemisphere.

OPTIMIZE LIFE NOW!™
with Dr. Rhoberta Shaler
---------------------

The Garden Of Your Mind

If you think of your mind as a garden, what have you
planted? You know what's planted there by what's growing!

If seeds of doubt are planted, life may seem uncertain. The
harvest may include questions such as 'Do I deserve to get
what I want in life?', or 'Can I succeed?' or 'Will I ever
be good enough?' These seeds can be planted very early in
life without our consent however, once you find them they
must be made into compost! If you find these weeds popping
up, dig down to extricate the roots completely. Even after
doing this, you may find tiny shoots still. They are hardy
plants. Weed often. As you remove each weed, remind yourself
that you deserve a beautiful, productive, well-balanced
garden.

If you find that your 'garden' is overcrowded and little
grows well, you may need to transplant some items to your
nursery bed and save them for another season. Simply look
at the size of your garden plot right now. What are the
most important 'crops' right now? Perhaps you have small
children who need attention. You may have to save the 'I
should write a book' seeds for another time. When you look
at the garden and see that it is unbalanced, be ruthless.
Look at the needs of the seeds you want to grow and make
room for only those. Save the others for another season.
What do you need to transplant?

If a plant has completely overshadowed the entire garden, it
may need pruning. This sometimes happens when that one
plant is receiving all the nutrients, time and attention.
Others cannot flourish unless they were planted because they
prefer shade. Are there some seeds in your garden that
cannot grow because they need more light? You may have to
prune that one big tree! Yes, you likely can make a great
case for keeping it. Of course you can because that's where
you have been putting so much fertilizer for so long and you
just know you were doing the right thing. What's shriveling
from the lack of the sunlight of your attention? Prune!

Do you regularly visit other gardens to stimulate your
imagination, or to verify your choices? It's wise to do
this. Spending all your time in your own garden is limiting.
You learn very little and your garden seems so very big.
Expand your thinking. See what others are planting and the
effects. A new plant may be just what your garden needs for
beauty, balance or new growth.

Check your garden for slugs. They are attracted to
conditions of dampness and coolness. They feed on decaying
plant matter. Do you have any slugs in the garden of your
mind? If you are focused on what is wrong with things, on
what is not happening, on negative judgments about yourself
and others, these could well be 'slugs' for you. As with
real slugs, the first step is to eliminate places where they
can hide. Dark places where sunlight cannot reach. They
need to be handpicked off. Draw them out in the dark, put
them in soapy water and throw them on the compost. Slugs
have no redeeming features. They take away valuable much
time and draw much negative attention. Remove all slugs and
set up barriers to keep them out so you never have to deal
with them again.

Your life, just like your garden, is never balanced but
always balancing.

Be a master gardener!

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - -
by Karin Henderson

Use Medications Wisely

Do you have only one doctor who treats your problems and
prescribes your drugs?

Do you usually have all your prescription filled at the same
place?

Are you aware of the possible side effects of any of your
medications? Do you have the courage to ask your doctor to
explain anything you can't understand?

Do you discuss ALL your drugs and supplements with your
pharmacist?

The answer to all these questions should be YES! You have
only one body and you need to keep it healthy. Having
different doctors and going to different pharmacies will
only cause confusion and possible harm. By staying with the
same health professionals, they get to know you and your
needs: you get to know them and how to ask personal
questions. Chances are you will go through some very private
examinations and you need to do that with confidence and
trust.

Any kind of chemicals going into your body will cause a
shift in the cell composition. It doesn't matter if they are
prescription drugs, "over the counter" (OTC) cough meds,
vitamins, or herbs. Even the word "natural product" doesn't
mean harmless or without effect. Use several of these and
you can easily create problems for which you will need some
help.

Use your health professional wisely. Pharmacists are trained
in everything to do with drugs, including nutritional
supplements. Doctors are trained in diseases: body systems
and functions. Use each one to maximize their knowledge and
training. One stop shopping is all right for food, but your
body deserves specialized support.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

<><><><>

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to
http://www.the-pebble.com OR order yours from
your favorite bookstore. ISBN # 1-4137-4723-X

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------

The lion stood there. The two people reached
it and permitted it to smell their hands. Then
they petted the big cat.

"You're not a bad cat. You just thought we
were going to be your dinner. Not today Simba, not
today. We had a big cat like you in our village,
only our cat was all black. We used to call her
Midnight." AliAnn was speaking to the lion with
love. The animal softened. AliAnn petted it. The
big cat rubbed up against her legs. With each pet
both Sammy and AliAnn sent energy into the cat. It
purred.

The crisis was over. In that moment of their
lives AliAnn and Sammy had used higher law for the
first time. They had crossed over and it had not
yet hit them until they heard these words -
"Welcome, both of you. Welcome to higher law."

They recognized the source. They sent back the
thoughts "Thank you Grandpa. Is that why you let
us come down here alone? Is that why you wanted to
come to this land? Did you know this was going to
happen?"

"Yes my love. Both you and Sammy were well
trained. You needed only a reason to take the
final step. I knew this was the way. That is why I
did not come with you. This was your time.
Welcome."

"Grandpa, I love you. You are so wise."

"Me, too, Gramps. Thank you for trusting we
would do the right thing. We'll be back up soon."

"Remember, you can now travel by higher law.
You can be up here in an instant. Also remember
that as you broadcast love unto all you are no
longer in danger. No animal will hurt you. Enjoy.
I'll see you later. I'm going to say hi to my
friends."

"See you later Grandpa, thanks."
With that, Sam walked up the hill and around
the front of Kenyata's and Mombudo's hut.

"Hello, Sam Henry. That was quite a moment. So
now your grandchildren live by higher law. That
must make your hear burst with pride."

"Hello you guys. Yes, it makes me proud, but
happy is the real word. They have been trained all
their lives. They needed only a reason to use
their knowledge and trust. I am happy. How are you
folks doing? I thought I would bring the kids over
here to show them a different world. They real
reason I wanted to do so was I wanted them to
cross over the veil. They have now. When they
return I will introduce them to you."

"Sam, we already met them. They were at Tim's
and Sharon's wedding. We actually spent quite a
lot of time with them."

"Oh! That's right. I forgot. You must have
been up when we arrived. You were watching what
was going on?"

"Yes, Mr. Henry. I, too, had a similar
experience. It was only by finally trusting higher
law and acting upon it that I came to live by the
law." Hemno had just finished his breakfast.

"That's right Hemno. I remember. Well done . I
am glad you watched and saw what was happening. I
was so intent on the situation I paid no heed to
who was near me. This is one of those times when
it is not good to be so close to the ones going
through the action. It was all I could do to hold
myself back from interfering."

"We know Sam. We would not have let you. We,
too, saw what was happening and knew it had to be.
We could have prevented the kids from danger but
it was their time. They had to make decisions
themselves and, being well taught, made the right
ones." Mombudo put his hand on Sam's shoulder.
"You have helped all of us, Sam. It was out turn
to be ready in the event help was needed. We were
watching."

"It is nice to be with such caring, yet
knowledgeable friends. Thank you all. Where is
Sonora?"

"She was called away, Sam. There is an
earthquake in South East Asia. She was needed. She
has been gone for three days now. We expect her
back anytime."

There was a bright light just away from the
fire circle. From it emerged AliAnn and Sammy.
"Hello, Mrs. Kenyata, Mr. Mombudo. It is nice to
see you again."

Kenyata, Mombudo and Hemno all rose and walked
over to the kids. Each put their arms around them
and whispered "Welcome to higher law" in their
ears. The love they broadcast was so strong it was
nearly a physical, material thing.

"Thank you. We did not know this was going to
happen. I guess we just needed to be in a position
where that was our only choice for survival. Thank
you for letting it happen. Thank you Grandpa for
causing us to be here for this." AliAnn walked
over to her now standing Grandfather and gave him
a long hug and a kiss, a long one, right on his
cheek. "I love you Grandpa. Thank you for bringing
us."

TOMORROW - - - Educating the grandchildren

WHY DO WE SAY IT?

Damocles' Sword: How did the expression "Damocles' sword"
come to represent impending danger?

It's an allusion to an ancient legend. Dionysius the Elder
was a clerk who seized the throne of Syracuse. Damocles was
one of his courtiers who envied him his power and his
wealth. so Dionysius invited Damocles to share his luxurious
life for an evening. the two sat down to a rich banquet -
but over the head of Damocles there was hung a sword
suspended by a single thread. When Damocles complained that
he couldn't enjoy the food at all because he was afraid the
sword would fall Dionysius said, "Under such a threat do I
enjoy my wealth and power."

HA! HA! HA!

When I returned home from college for a break, I noticed a
paper posted on the refrigerator. It listed some goals my
dad had set for himself: Help wife more; lose weight; be
more productive at work.

I promptly added: "Send Michelle money every month."

A few days later my brother wrote: "Make payments on car for
Jason."

Then my boyfriend joined in with: "Buy Tom a Jeep."

Finally my father added a new goal to his amended list:
"Wean kids."
