TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

What exactly does "equinox" mean?

Are birds getting louder?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

Will I see anything special in the sky? (at Autumnal
Equinox)

No. Nothing much really HAPPENS. But you'll see the effects.
If you live in the Northern Hemisphere, you might have
noticed as summer drew to a close that the days were
becoming shorter and the nights longer. On the autumnal
equinox, night finally becomes just as long as the day. As
autumn and then winter progresses, the nights will be longer
than the days. (If you live in the southern half of the
world, like in Australia, it's just the opposite. In
Australia, spring is just beginning!)

What special event happens at the South Pole on this date?

Imagine living in six months of darkness. Now imagine what
it must be like when the sun finally rises. Scientists at
the South Pole are no doubt happy today. Now, they'll have
six months of LIGHT instead of dark.

Here's To Think On ...
with Ken Darby
------------------------------------

Do You Perceive Truth?

A school teacher injured his back and had to wear a plaster
cast around the upper part of his body. It fit under his
shirt and was not noticeable at all. On the first day of the
term, still with the cast under his shirt, he found himself
assigned to the toughest students in school.

Walking confidently into the rowdy classroom, he opened the
window as wide as possible and then busied himself with desk
work. When a strong breeze made his tie flap, he took the
desk stapler and stapled the tie to his chest.

He had no trouble with discipline that term.

Wow! What a way to extract the behavior patterns you want.
Some ingenuity created a condition the students only thought
they saw. They did not perceive the whole truth.

How are you with the things you see happening in your life?
Are you seeing what really is or are you seeing only what
you think is happening?

Most of us have not trained ourselves in the powers of
observation. So many lose faith in doing business on the
internet only because they "feel" they aren't getting
anywhere. In fact they could be only one day away from
discovering the answer that will make them a great deal of
profit.

On another scale, how much jealousy is founded only on the
machinations of our own minds over something we saw. How
many times does one get angry at something just because it
is perceived the wrong way?

How many of our frustrations in life are a result of wrong
perceptions?

So much of what we think life is about is governed by our
passions we should stop and think about it. As Emerson has
said, "Passion is a bad regulator, but makes a good spring."
Observe by your passions and you observe wrong. Work with
passion and you work right.

Live, govern and control your life by your passions, and you
make a big mistake. Make a decision and put passion behind
it as the power to bring it into fruition is the right thing
to do.

If you would succeed, do so with your mind. If you would
fail, do so with your passion. Make your observations
analytical. Be sure, in your mind, of what you really see.

React not to things until you are sure of the what it is you
are reacting to.

And always ask yourself, always, . . . .

Do You Perceive Truth?

Go Back And Wash Your Hands
- Says your mother and she is right!

Hand washing is your best protection against any
disease, infection, or unknown elements.

Don't you just hate it when you have to follow
someone out the washroom KNOWING they
haven't washed their hands! (And it's just as
important for guys as it is for gals.)

I recall following the president of a large company
out of the beautiful corporate washroom, knowing
she hadn't washed her hands and now we were
going congratulate a group of long-term employees.
It took a lot of restraint on my part not to say anything.
Apart from my social visit, we were also giving flu
shots to the hundreds of staff members. You can
bet the family farm that I talked hand washing every
chance I got to those employees!

Water alone does a great job, if you can't find soap!
Add a little soap and you way ahead of the game.
Your odds of getting what everyone else is generously
passing around are lessened considerably. It's not
sissy-ish to wash your hands. It just makes good sense.
Why pick up germs, pass them to your family, and
then get everyone sick? You don't have to make a
fetish out of it.

Nor do you have to use the special soaps unless you
work in a health center or hospital. Anti-microbial
soaps may cause you problems in creating sensitivities
and /or desensitising your body to the power of the
germ fighting agents in them. When you need them
to work, they may not, so avoid them unless you really
need them.

Wash your hands. Dry them really well. Apply a little
hand cream and you will be comfortable and healthy.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to
http://www.the-pebble.com OR order yours from
your favorite bookstore. ISBN # 1-4137-4723-X

Sammy walked over to his Grandfather, too. He
reached up and hugged his Granddad. "Thanks
Granddad. I love you."

Sam Henry was pretty happy about the new
situation. He was relieved the danger was past and
he was happy beyond measure the kids had each
begun a new life living by higher law.

Just then Sonora arrived. One look and she
came over to AliAnn and hugged her, whispering
"Welcome" into her ear. She did the same for
Sammy.

"You two have started early. Congratulations.
Does your Mother and Dad know about this?"

"Not as far as we know. They would if they
were listening in but I don't think so. They know
we are with Granddad and that things would be all
right." Sammy was pretty sure his folks might have
suspected this occurrence but would not listen in,
preferring instead to wait and see when the kids
arrived home.

"I think you're right, Sammy. And AliAnn
you've grown into a woman. My you are as pretty as
your Mother. Good to have you guys here. What's
the occasion? Oh! Yes, the need to make that one
last step into higher law. Your Granddad is a
pretty smart man."

"I guess so. He seems kinda slow sometimes."
Sammy winked at Sonora and ducked all at the same
time for he knew there would be a blow coming. He
laughed as his Grandfather missed him, but he
tripped and went flat on his stomach. In that
second his Grandfather was on him, tickling his
ribs.

"Okay! Okay! Uncle! Uncle! I give up! I give
up!" His Grandfather was merciless and kept
tickling for a few more seconds. Sammy got the
message.

All present enjoyed the fun and were laughing.

"Sam Henry you're too big a man to manhandle
young people like that. Tsk! Tsk!" Kenyata was
motioning to him with her finger. Sam
appropriately hung his head, and they all laughed
again.

Sam and Sammy both got up and brushed
themselves off.

"Aside from the incident that caused us to use
higher law, we went down on the plain to witness
the animal migration. That's incredible. There are
a huge number of animals down there. I suppose you
see it all the time and don't think anything of
it?" AliAnn was still amazed at the migrating
herds.

"There are a lot of animals there AliAnn. It
is true we see it a lot but within a month they
will all be out of sight, chasing the green grass
and the rains. They will be away for quite a while
and then begin their trek back. The cycle has gone
on for thousands of years. It is really quite
unique. It was down there with those herds that I,
too, learned higher law. It took me a little
longer but, like you, it was a case of survival. I
am sure glad I had Sonora as my teacher." Hemno
smiled.

"Does it always take an emergency,
Grandfather?"

"No, Sammy, it doesn't. You kids were just too
comfortable where you were. There was no longer
any pressing need for you to proceed. You had to
get out of your shell and into a condition where
you relied solely on your own thinking, your own
instincts, your own actions. In that moment you
matured years. You both grew up and can now take
on the role of adults. There was much that
happened all at the same time. I'm proud of you."

"Thanks, Granddad, but that was some risk to
take, wasn't it?"

"No, AliAnn. Not at all. If harm had come to
you I, Kenyata, Mombudo or Hemno would have
stepped in. There was only apparent danger and if
you were not prepared in higher law, in advance,
then there may have been danger. Yet you have been
prepared for this moment all your life. This
condition was only a catalyst. You made the right
decision. You used the correct approach and
knowledge."

"I guess you're right Granddad. I am glad Mom
and Dad and you and Grandma taught us well. Is
that what you did with Mom when you allowed her to
go on that journey?"

"Yes, sweetheart. Your Grandma and I had
worked with all our children over the years. When
that situation came up we were both frightened,
but we knew there was nothing more we could do to
prepare your Mom. She seemed as capable as ever
she would be. We did not want to let her go, but
something inside said it was the right thing to
do. Today, of course, we are quite happy with the
decision, but at the time it was scary."

"I'll bet Mom wasn't so scared."

WHY DO WE SAY IT?

Wampum: Where did "wampum" get its name?

"Wampum" is an Algonquian Indian word, meaning "white
string". There were two types of Indian bead money - white
and black (or purple). the "white" was the more valuable.

HA! HA! HA!

At the Boeing Museum of Flight in Seattle, there is a full
size mockup of an F/A-18 fighter. A ramp allows visitors to
climb into the cockpit and get a sense of what the pilot
sees and feels. A guide at the top of the ramp points out
the various controls and gauges in the cockpit and gives
information about the aircraft's capabilities to each
visitor who gets in.

When my two-year-old son sat down in the plane, he seemed
fascinated by all he saw and heard. Then, he looked out at
us and said, "Gramma, could I have a quarter?"
