A typical, obviously American, community. Two young people
given an opportunity for an a adventure with an attainable
financial reward. Their adventure into the inkonwn, not
restrained by dogmatic rules or community restraints, leads
them to resources that change no only the two adventurers'
attitudes, but attitudes of others.

The reader will either come away with a a feeling of
wonderment or question the writer's declared source, his
Maker, for the content.

I was not envious of the characters' adventures but enjoyed
the book as it refreshed the wonderment I had as a youth and
now as a practical adult, to "think outside the box" about
powers that are within us.

How old are coral reefs?

Because they're composed mostly of dead polyps, coral reefs
can last a very long time! Some established reefs are
believed to be as many as 5,000 to 10,000 years old.

Why are skimpy two-piece bathing suits called "bikinis"?

Believe it or not, the "bikini" is named for the Bikini
Atoll. Panic set in when the US government announced in the
summer of 1946 that it planned to conduct its first public
atom bomb tests on the Pacific's Bikini Atoll. Rumors
started flying and some people went so far as to suggest
that the test would mark the end of the world. What do you
do when you think the world might end? Well, in 1946, they
decided the best thing to do was go out happy, and hold
fabulous end-of-the-world "Bikini" parties. It just so
happened that during that same summer, a swimwear fashion
show was held in Paris, France. Promoters for the show
decided to take advantage of the "Bikini" craze by creating
a "bikini" swimsuit that would  be as scandalous as
possible. The two-piece suit, which attracted international
attention, was worn by model Micheline Bernardini.

Yahoo Raises Portable Music Pricing
by Matt Hines

Portal company Yahoo Inc. informed customers of its
subscription music download service that it will increase
pricing for users who transfer their tunes onto portable
devices or CDs.

The Sunnyvale, Calif., firm forwarded an e-mail to its Yahoo
Music Unlimited subscribers late Thursday telling customers
that it plans to double the fee it charges for the so-called
unlimited service from $4.99 per month to $9.99 per month,
for people who buy the service on an annual basis.

Yahoo said people who subscribe to the download service on a
monthly basis will see their memberships increase from $6.99
per month to $11.99 per month.

Unlike subscribers to Apple Computer Inc.'s market leading
iTunes music service, who pay 99 cents per song download and
own the music forever thereafter, Yahoo's service more
closely mimics the offerings of Napster LLC and RealNetworks
Inc., which allow users to download as many songs as they
wish for use on their computers, but levee additional fees
for permanent ownership of the digital content.

In addition to the higher subscription fee, Yahoo charges
subscribers 79 cents per download for music they want to
keep for usage on a portable device or to burn onto CDs.

Yahoo claims that its service still represents the best deal
on the market, while Napster charges a similar $9.95
per-month fee, plus 80 cents for each permanent download.
Real's Rhapsody service costs $9.99 for downloads to
computers, while its Rhapsody to Go package, which allows
users to transfer content to mobile devices, retails for
$14.95 per month.

Representatives at Yahoo did not immediately return calls
seeking further comment on the pricing shift.

The company is offering existing customers of the Music
Unlimited service the opportunity to lock in at the current
subscription price of $59.88 for one more year. Customers
who do not wish to transfer files to mobile devices will
continue to pay only $6.99 per month for the service.

Web-based download pricing has come under increased scrutiny
recently from leaders in the music industry who say that
Apple's 99 cents per song payment plan won't generate
sufficient income to cover recording companies' expenses for
recruiting, signing and supporting artists.

At the CTIA Wireless IT and Entertainment Conference last
month, Edgar Bronfman, the chief executive of Warner Music
Group Corp., said in a keynote that more flexible pricing
plans were needed to help defer the cost of recording and
promoting performers.

However, Apple CEO Steve Jobs has rebutted such
observations, calling the recording industry "greedy" and
warning that more consumers will resort to illegal file
sharing if companies raise their process significantly.

Another bone of contention in the download pricing debate is
the lack of an industry-wide DRM (digital rights management)
standard, which sets the ground rules for the limitations of
consumers' rights to copy and share the music they buy.

While Bronfman and others have stumped recently for a common
DRM standard to be adopted by all companies offering
downloads, many providers, including Apple, continue to
maintain their own usage rules.

BODY PARTS
10 Systems To Give You Existence

Your body is made up of ten different, but completely
interrelated systems that must work in harmony. These
function as whole "units" to give you life. They help you
breathe, move, etc. and protect you from harm. Every part
is vital and none is more than another. However, the
actions of some parts can survive until the others are
looked after (fight/flight response). (Because of space,
it is impossible to list all the parts, therefore only a
general overview is given; "etc." should be added to
EACH point.)

NERVOUS Sys.: co-ordinates all body functions: brain
is the "executive office". Brain, spinal cord, nerves.

RESPIRATORY Sys: is vital in breathing and air/waste
exchange: nose, pharynx, lungs, sinuses.

CARDIOVASCULAR Sys.: circulates blood and nutrients
to entire body constantly: heart, blood vessels,
lymphatic system.

SKELETAL Sys.: supports and protects body parts and
red blood cell formation (carries oxygen): joints, bones.

MUSCULAR S.: gives form and connects all skeletal
parts of body: heart muscle, thigh, spinal canal, etc.

GASTRO-INTESTINAL TRACT: digests and transports
all nutrients throughout body: mouth, teeth,
stomach, bowels.

ENDOCRINE Sys.: produces hormones that regulate
all body processes: glands

URINARY Sys.: manages fluid and electrolyte balance,
and eliminates liquid waste products: kidneys,
bladder, urethra

REPRODUCTIVE S.: male and female organs that
are required for the survival of our species: testes,
penis, uterus, breasts, glans.

INTEGUMENTARY Sys.: holds it all together! Skin, hair,
nails. Miles of it!

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.

Finally Mazunta rose and held up his hands. "What you
heard is one reason why this village is so special, so
strong, so united and so very far ahead on the path to our
Maker. Neither Mr. Sam or I acted out as if in a play. We
did what we would do any day of the week, anywhere. That we
were observed so closely is flattering yet do we more than
what is required of us? Do we more than what each of you
does? I think not. Each does as his Maker tells and that is
enough."

When Maz sat down the third of the children to speak
rose and moved in front of Maz. This speaker was AliAnn, a
bit of a surprise to both Maz and Eloise.

"I would ordinarily decline to speak because of my
Mother's and Father's position in this village. Yet the
group has asked me to say a few words and with your kind
permission I will do that." AliAnn waited.

The crowd cheered. They saw and knew her reluctance and
appreciated her for it.

"I have always admired my Mom and Dad for the way in
which they conduct themselves. I have known all my life they
live by higher law and yet that was taught to Sammy and I as
if it were so natural we never really gave it a thought that
the bulk of the world does not think this way. So why should
I speak on our recent trip?

Just as with the others, I, too, learned a lot. I
learned it is one thing to say something where it is yet
another to do it. I learned that when we had the knowledge
of higher law all along it took my Grandfather to take us
away from the norm and cause us to have to put it into
practice. I learned, too, that application is the evidence
of trust, it is the belief in the image you have placed in
front of you, belief in the laws of your Maker.

Yes, I saw the children in the orphanage and we had a
wonderful time, each of us making new friends and we wait
for them now, for our presence has surely stimulated their
need to experience higher law. Yes I saw and mingled with
the huge herds of animals on the Serengeti plains in Africa,
and yes they are there by the thousands, as far as the eye
can see. Yet it was life I saw. It was the life force that
lives in each of us and in all things in this earth. I can
no longer look at a tree without seeing the same life force
in it that is in me. I cannot any longer look at a rock
without seeing the same life force that is in me. I cannot
look at another human being without first seeing that the
life force that motivates them and gives them life is the
same as is in me. I see the perfection of my Maker's world
at every turn. I see my Maker at everywhere and while we may
travel to see material things that seem different to us,
underneath is the same life force of our Maker.

So, it is for us to reconcile what we see, unto
ourselves, and come to understand that all men are our
brothers, not just in words but in body and soul. It is time
that we see we are one and that there is room for nothing
but love. Think not this love is the lust that runs in your
loins but a true, open and honest love for your brother and
sister because they are just that.

I saw that to be concerned more for the welfare of
others is more important than to be concerned for my own
welfare. I saw that in giving to others I receive.
I hereby commit my life now and forever in the cause of
my Maker. No activity of man can come close to being as
important as doing that."

With that AliAnn sat down. The gathered villagers were
in awe. They were speechless that from one so young they
could hear rules that were the very foundation of the
universe. And they were spoken in such a way that they
penetrated to the core of the soul of each person around the
fire. This young woman had entranced all present.

She sat down in silence that was so deafening it was as
if the world was roaring it's approval. Even the children
with whom she had travelled were in awe. In this it was
clear this young woman was a leader. She thought deep and
her actions were always for the benefit of those around her.
Not only was she a "chip off the old block" but she carried
herself with such a regal bearing, distinguished with
humility, that the crowd of villagers were bordering on
worshipping her. This, of course, she would not accept, but
that is how striking she was.

The village was somber, again pensive, giving thought
to what AliAnn had said. Even those who lived by higher law
were giving thought to her comments. This young woman was
wise beyond her years.

Mazunta rose and speaking quietly, spoke right into the
hearts of all present. "The words of this young woman have
come from deep within her. It is clear she is on a path that
will have her serving mankind in ways we don't even know
this day. That she chose to come live with Bueno and I is
but a gift for which her Mother and I will be eternally
grateful. It is time now to hear from the adults who
remained in the village without their children. But first
let us rise and have a beverage that we might refresh
ourselves."

The villagers rose and began to mingle about, seeking
beverages that had earlier been placed to one side of the
fire.

Many of the villagers came to AliAnn to speak with her.
Some came to say thanks. Some came to compliment her on her
presentation. Others came to seek advice from one so
obviously wise. AliAnn was kept so busy she could not get to
a beverage. Some, seeing this, brought her a drink.

To AliAnn, she had spoken only what seemed to be right,
normal and obvious. Yet somehow she had touched the core of
each person here. It was the kind of thing North Americans
would expect out of a long studied and long learned person
with several university degrees after their name. One did
not expect to hear words like that to come from a backwoods
native girl who had no formal education.

WHY DO WE SAY IT?

Halcyon Days: How did "halcyon days" come to mean a peaceful
and pleasurable period of time?

The original "halcyon days" were fifteen days in the Spring
- the seven days preceding the Vernal Equinox in March, the
day itself and the seven days following it. This is the
brooding time of the "halcyon" or kingfisher and since its
nest was supposed to float on the sea, the superstition
arose that calm weather always prevailed at this time of the
year.

HA! HA! HA!

During the second Gulf War, I was an Air Force colonel. I
routinely flew on different aircraft to familiarize myself
with their capabilities. One day I was aboard an
intelligence aircraft where each crew member was surrounded
by complex gear.

A young major showed me his computer screen. "That's a chat
screen, Sir," the soldier said. "We use it to relay enemy
information to the crew. It's like instant messaging."

Nodding, I moved down the line. Flashing on an airman's
screen several feet away was this warning: "Heads up! The
colonel's on the way!"
