The Garden Of Your Mind

If you think of your mind as a garden, what have you planted?
You know what's planted there by what's growing!
If seeds of doubt are planted, life may seem uncertain. The
harvest may include questions such as 'Do I deserve to get
what I want in life?', or 'Can I succeed?' or 'Will I ever be
good enough?' These seeds can be planted very early in life
without our consent however, once you find them they must be
made into compost! If you find these weeds popping up, dig
down to extricate the roots completely. Even after doing
this, you may find tiny shoots still. They are hardy plants.
Weed often. As you remove each weed, remind yourself that you
deserve a beautiful, productive, well-balanced garden.
If you find that your 'garden' is overcrowded and little grows
well, you may need to transplant some items to your nursery
bed and save them for another season. Simply look at the size
of your garden plot right now. What are the most important
'crops' right now? Perhaps you have small children who need
attention. You may have to save the 'I should write a book'
seeds for another time. When you look at the garden and see
that it is unbalanced, be ruthless. Look at the needs of the
seeds you want to grow and make room for only those. Save the
others for another season. What do you need to transplant?
If a plant has completely overshadowed the entire garden, it
may need pruning. This sometimes happens when that one plant
is receiving all the nutrients, time and attention. Others
cannot flourish unless they were planted because they prefer
shade. Are there some seeds in your garden that cannot grow
because they need more light? You may have to prune that one
big tree! Yes, you likely can make a great case for keeping
it. Of course you can because that's where you have been
putting so much fertilizer for so long and you just know you
were doing the right thing. What's shriveling from the lack
of the sunlight of your attention? Prune!
Do you regularly visit other gardens to stimulate your
imagination, or to verify your choices? It's wise to do this.
Spending all your time in your own garden is limiting. You
learn very little and your garden seems so very big. Expand
your thinking. See what others are planting and the effects.
A new plant may be just what your garden needs for beauty,
balance or new growth.
Check your garden for slugs. They are attracted to conditions
of dampness and coolness. They feed on decaying plant matter.
Do you have any slugs in the garden of your mind? If you are
focused on what is wrong with things, on what is not
happening, on negative judgments about yourself and others,
these could well be 'slugs' for you. As with real slugs, the
first step is to eliminate places where they can hide. Dark
places where sunlight cannot reach. They need to be
handpicked off. Draw them out in the dark, put them in soapy
water and throw them on the compost. Slugs have no redeeming
features. They take away valuable much time and draw much
negative attention. Remove all slugs and set up barriers to
keep them out so you never have to deal with them again.
Your life, just like your garden, is never balanced but always
balancing.

Word
It's quite possible to junk up your text with so many formatting
commands that undoing them all would be a frustrating exercise.
Rather than delete the text and start over, you can use a simple
and universal undo-formatting command -- Word's equivalent of the
text-formatting eraser. The command is Reset Character, and its
shortcut key is Ctrl+Spacebar.
So if you encounter an expanse of ugly and overly formatted text,
select it as a block and press Ctrl+Spacebar. This key
combination strips the formatting from the text.

The Natural And The Unnatural

If you are diabetic, I urge you to do some research. You will be
faced with very important decisions, but there are a lot of new
studies. Read them and discuss them with your doctor. We should
all become familiar with the term "glycemic index". This
knowledge will definitely help you choose snacks. Some foods
containing artificial sweeteners, such as sugar-free yogurt, can
still affect your blood sugar level due to other carbohydrates
or protein in the food. In addition, some foods labeled
"sugar-free" - such as sugar-free cookies and chocolates - may
contain sweeteners such as sorbitol or mannitol that contain
calories. "Sugar alcohols" like "sorbitol" and "mannitol" do not
contain alcohol. These can affect your blood sugar level. I urge
you to be careful using them. Some sugar-free products may also
have flour, which will raise blood sugar levels. Depending on
how sugar is formed and produced, it will have several names.
Don't let that put you off or make you think it's "artificial".
Just know it's still sugar. Regular sugar is also called
sucrose. Sources of basic table sugars include: molasses, beet
sugar, cane sugar, white sugar, brown sugar,
confectioners'sugar, powdered sugar, raw sugar, and maple syrup.
Other kinds of sugars include: Glucose, (dextrose) Fructose
Lactose Maltose. Your research will come up with trade names of
the artificial ones. In your research, be very discerning about
what you read and who writes it. And check the date of the
information update.

no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

"Sharon, you and I should get back. We've been
away for a couple hours. Sis, thanks for the use
of your house, and thanks for the understanding
and trust." Tim walked over to Eloise and gave her
a hug and a peck on the cheek.
"That's cool brother. Keep it all together
now, you hear?"
"I hear."
With that the young lovers said their good
byes and left. They touched down again on the
street where they were when they left. It was as
if nothing had changed, except the sun had moved
in the sky.
"Wow! What a trip. Do you do that often?" She
was again holding Tim's hand and squeezing it.
"Once in a while. Does that kind of thing
bother you?"
"No. I like it. I enjoy being in these
different places. The trouble is no one will
believe me when I tell them you took me to Africa
and now to South America. I'd like to go back to
both those spots when we have more time together.
I'd like to see them more thoroughly. Can we do
that?"
"Anything you want, anytime you want it." He
looked into her eyes. They were deep, dark pools
of love. He squeezed her hand. She squeezed back.
"I guess I best be getting home for supper
before my folks learn of me breaking pattern." She
suddenly turned into Tim and hugged him with a
full body hug that started them going again, then
broke it as fast as it had begun. "This is sure
going to be hard on the psyche, and our hearts.
The temptation will get to us, I'm sure."
"I know" Tim responded. "But we can handle it,
if you want. One day at a time, one day at a time.
We'll get through it. When will I see you again?"
"Well, what about tonight, just like last
night?"
"We can do that Sharon, but you can't keep
that up for long. You'll get too tired. Talk to
me, 'our way' as soon as you can. We'll work out
something."
Tim found himself wanting to get away. He was
suffering in his groin. He had pain that was
caused by unfulfilled arousal. The intensity of
the feelings he and Sharon had just gone through
at Eloise's place caused his body to rebel and he
was in severe pain. He had to leave and attend to
the problem.
They said good bye only after they had reached
a spot about a block from Sharon's. They agreed to
speak again tonight. Tim turned to walk away and
suddenly vanished.
He reappeared in his room at home. There,
concentrating on seeing himself as pure, perfect,
whole and without pain, he caused himself to
remove the pain and was able to walk properly
again.
Sharon walked home and into the house. Her
mother was there starting the supper routine.
"What's up? You're slightly earlier than
usual. No friends today?" She was speaking as if
there was nothing wrong, and that her tirade,
along with her husbands, of the other night was
quite all right. They gave no consideration to the
fact that Sharon was now 18 and two months from
graduation from high school. They never gave a
thought to the idea she might move out after high
school and thereby get out from under their
control.
Sharon decided to play it cool. "No, just came
home early. What's for supper?" She knew that
asking her mother that question would allow her to
think all was back to normal.
"Oh, just beef stew with dumplings. I hope
you're hungry."
"Just so so, Mom. Just so so. I'll be in my
room if you need me." And with that Sharon headed
to her room.
"Just a minute young lady. I'd like to talk
with you." She spoke in that tone of voice that
Sharon had heard before. She knew something was up
but she didn't know what, so she played it cool.
"What, Mom" she asked innocently.
"I want to talk with you about our discussion
the other night. I somehow feel you don't agree
and that we are forcing your position."
"Well you're right about that."
"Why can't you see our position on the matter,
Sharon? You know what they are saying at church.
You know the pastor won't have anything to do with
those Henrys."
"Will you allow me to be open and honest with
you without you using it against me?"
"Yes, of course."
"Mom, don't of course me. You know what I
mean. If I am going to tell you what I honestly
feel I will require your understanding. I don't
ever want to hear my words come back used against
me. You must promise me that."
"You're right. I promise."
"Did your parents approve of Daddy when you
first went out together?"
