Spreading Light

In any circumstance you can be the one to spread light. It
comes from your decision within. You choose what you show to
the world, don't you? You also choose what you reflect. You
are powerful.
A while ago, I spent a wonderful afternoon with a new friend
who lives part of each year in India. As I showed him my
photos of India, I remembered the wonder I felt when I was in
the large fort outside Jaipur. This palace has a bed chamber
which was decorated for the master of the house. The tour
guide had us come into that room and close the doors. He
lighted a candle, just one candle, and the room was filled
with light. How? The room had thousands of tiny mirrors
embedded in the plaster. What a demonstration of reflected
light!
The well-known author, Edith Wharton, who seemingly knew all
about this wrote, "There are two ways of spreading light; to
be the candle or the mirror that reflects it." Both are
valuable and needed. In many cases you must make a choice
between two attractive alternatives. Today you need not choose
between them. You can do both. You can be a light, AND, you
can reflect the light you see in others--the goodness, the
beauty, the growth, the love--all that is positive! Celebrate
it!
Keep beautiful candles around you. Have a special one where
you sit to think, meditate or pray. Each time you light it let
it be a reminder of your desire to keep your own light shining
and your mirror reflecting all that is beautiful to you every
day. Choose that candle now!

Previously, I mentioned that analgesics and
antipyretics that contain acetaminophen are a common
cause of liver inflammation. This gentleman had two
such drugs prescribed. The problem with all of this
was that he had two sets of medical groups prescribing
medications. When the pharmacists voiced their
concerns, they were told to continue with both.
It is so important to keep an eye on any drugs. That
goes for over-the-counter (OTC) ones as well as the
prescribed ones.
You frequently read "There is no specific treatment for
drug-induced hepatitis other than discontinuing the
medication that's causing the problem." People with
acute hepatitis are told to "avoid physical exertion,
alcohol, acetominophen, and any other hepatotoxic
products toxic to the liver) substances. Usually
symptoms subside when the causative agent (drug)
has been discontinued". We hear treatment for AIDS is
massive doses of antioxidants and other nutrients.
61. Treatment like this is based on resting a lot and
eating well. The concept here is to restore your body's
ability to fight back. It is designed to restore health
to your immune system so it can do its natural job of
protecting you. Your body instinctively wants to do
this!
I would like to offer you an analogy and then a
challenge. Pretend you are working for a large cleaning
company. It doesn't matter what department you are in.
The company employs 200 people and the workload
is manageable. Then the company wins a few new
contracts. No one else is hired and you need to
work faster and harder. More contracts: no other
changes. You are now working so fast and so hard that
your health gives out and you need to take a couple
days of sick leave. The work steadily increases, but
your health is wearing down. Eventually you have to go
on short term disability. When you come back,
co-workers who have pitched in to take on your jobs,
are now also wearing out. Things get done as energy and
health permit, but it's all done poorly and new things
can't be handled at all. The obvious solution would
have been to hire qualified people as the additional
workload appeared. This is how your liver reacts. It,
too, gets sick and isn't able to store the required
items. Things aren't getting metabolized, filtered, or
excreted. All things that should be IN your body are
not and toxins that shouldn't be there still remain,
somewhere.

"It has been a good evening Tim. Thanks for
coming over and certainly we will let Sharon see
you. She's a big girl and can make up her own
mind. Thank you for clearing up a whole bunch of
misinformation for us. Please come again." Bob
spoke for both he and Harriet. They had been
pleased with the visit.
Sharon escorted Tim to the door. There was no
one watching when she gave him a kiss to remember.
Tlang rose, stretched then went to get Mae and
Susan up. They had slept the night under a tree.
During the night it had snowed, a lot. There
was at least four inches on the ground all around
them, but not in the circle of warmth and
protection Mae put around them as she did every
night. Within that circle it was warm and
comfortable. Step outside and one was faced with
the cold and wet of the snow and it's accompanying
temperatures.
The day was bright and sunny, now, the clouds
having disbursed.
Tlang was thrilled with the snow and went to
the edge of the circle to get some. As one might
expect she packed it into a snowball and threw it
at the women, hitting Susan right on the behind as
she was bending over picking something up.
All three laughed as Susan suddenly stood
straight. It was a good start to the morning.
The three women had walked continually for a
month and were now getting into that part of China
where the seasons were marked by cooler
temperatures rather than monsoons. While not yet
in what might be considered a snow belt this was
an area that did get snow occasionally and last
night was one of those nights. By noon it would
all be gone and the land dry once more.
The snow did serve as a reminder, however. It
meant the further north they went they would be
approaching areas where winter brought with it
much snow and colder temperatures. That did not
bother them for they could keep themselves
protected from the elements. What it did do was
tell them they had been steadily keeping up with
their journey and that maybe they should find a
place to settle for some months while winter held
sway further north.
"You know Sue, Tlang, I've been thinking. We
haven't seen Shing Li and Psong for quite some
time. I think we should go there and stay a while.
I think now might be the time to work with them a
little. We can resume our journey in a couple or
three months when the winter season is over. What
do you say to that idea?" Mae knew they would both
like it.
The answer came back affirmative.
Mae looked at each of them, then held out her
hands for the others to take. In that instant they
were at Shing Li's house.
"Oh. You surprised me. Hi! How are you?" Shing
Li came running to hug and kiss them. "It is so
nice to see you again. Come inside. We'll have
some tea. Psong, Psong... look who is here!" Shing
Li was so excited she hollered for Psong.
Psong came to the doorway of the house
carrying little Tsung. Wong Li, Shing Li's
daughter was standing beside her. "Hi you guys!
Wow! It is good to see you. Come on in for tea.
Tell us where you have been and what you've been
up to."
It was a happy reunion for all and they sat
around exchanging stories for hours. Tlang didn't
stick around. She and Wong Li found things to do
and play with. They were setting up a friendship
that would last their lifetimes. Little Tsung
still stayed nearby, for he was just crawling, and
not able to keep up with the older two, though,
when they were in one place for a while he would
crawl over to them and disturb what they were
doing.
Mae noticed that Shing Li was still making
garments for those less fortunate. In that way she
was able to eat and feed anyone who was there,
because of her "magic box".
"So tell me, how have you been getting on? I
see you are making garments. That's good."
"Miss Mae I do this because you said to do it.
My 'magic box' has kept us in food all this time.
It is wonderful. I know, always, there will be
food there, and just the kind I ask for, any time
I go there. It is magic and wonderful. The town's
people can't figure it out. They talk about it all
the time. We feed those who are hungry and come
here for food."
"That is good. The sun shines on the just and
the unjust, so too, should your good deeds. Do
this with love and your magic box will always give
you food."
"What do you mean 'do this with love'?" Shing
Li was always curious about the things Mae said.
She wanted to be like Mae and was an astute
student.
