How to Really Benefit from Associations

Looking for new leads, new contacts, new business
opportunities? Do what nine out of 10 adults do, according
to a recent article by the American Society of Association
Executives. Join an Association. Choose from over 130,000
associations in the United States alone that represent
practically any industry at national, international, regional,
state and local levels.
How can you reap benefits from association contacts?

1. Keep lists of industry associations that your company and

a member, you'd like them to add your personal mailing info
& email address to their member lists so that you get their
member guides, newsletters, press releases & other

4. Stay in touch monthly or bi-monthly with association
contacts you meet either in person or via the phone, fax
or email. Attend events when possible and volunteer on
committees. When you can't attend, ask for minutes of the
meetings or follow up in the next newsletter. Follow up &
congratulate speakers & other (workshop) presenters;
asked to be placed on their mailing lists, etc. Note
that many groups still have difficulties with electronic
communications, so reach out with the phone. Note: If
emailing, keep your emails in the ?Sent? folder until you
hear back. If you don?t hear back, your email most probably
never reached the recipient, so call to touch base.
5. Log communications in a notebook or separate online
file and follow up.
6. Keep hard copy folders for each organization to hold the
membership guide, latest newsletter, URL & other contact
info. What works well is to use 3-ring plastic page inserts
where you can insert a bunch of papers, a brochure &
other goodies into one packet, then just insert the entire
pack into a 3-ring binder. Or file the plastic packets in a
file cabinet for quick retrieval.
7. Take advantage of online aids. For example, keep up
with the latest info to discuss with group members by joining

Your Liver: Understanding Its Functions
And Your Role In Maintaining Its Health

One of the very interesting things about your liver is
that it is always trying to clean (detoxify) itself.
That is why it takes so long for the negative effects
to accumulate. These are microscopic (only visible with
a microscope) in size, so it will take years to show
up. But if your doctor finds something "untowards" in
your liver function studies, it increases your chances
of repairing the damage dramatically. The alternatives
to living with a diseased liver are not a desirable
option.
So don't ignore these results. Don't panic, but explore
them carefully.
Here is my challenge. Earlier you learned some
functions of the liver. Now with this new knowledge,
you make a decision to put yourself on an effective
nutritional supplement (complete, balanced and in
optimum amounts). You decide to help your liver and the
rest of your body be healthier. You accept the fact
that quality will cost a little more, but you now
understand why. You know the results will be a big
benefit.

you are doing things the way your Maker wants and
shall be rewarded by your Maker. It is time for
you to understand that it is you who is making the
food that comes out of your 'magic box'. There is
nothing 'magic' about it. As you see the food, so
shall it appear in your hand. That is all there is
to it. When you go to your 'magic box' you are
conditioned to believe there will be the food
there you expected, and it is. The same would
happen if I were to take the box away and ask you
to believe the food would be in your hand."
"You mean I have been doing this all along
because I believed you created that box to do
that?"
"Yes. It really has nothing to do with the
box, neither the making of garments. Both were
done to teach you to give freely and with love for
as you do this you can do all that I do. If you
like I will work with you now to show you."
"Yes, yes, please. Are you going to stay a
while? Will you do this. I can be of much help to
my village when I learn higher law."
Mae laughed at her enthusiasm. "Yes, Shing Li,
we will stay."
Shing Li was excited. Mae knew she would have
to wait a couple days for the excitement to wear
off before they could make any progress. Psong,
too, was interested.
"When can we start? I want to learn now."
"I know Shing Li. You will have to be patient.
It is the teacher who knows when the student is
ready. In that you must trust."
"I guess so."
"Fear not. I will show you as we progress
through life. We are going to stay for a while, if
you will permit us. We thought we would stay until
the winter season was over and then resume our
journey."
"Oh that would be wonderful." Shing Li was
pleased to hear that news. She had earlier thought
Mae would be leaving soon, and would not have time
to teach her. Now she was staying for three months
or more there would be lots of time.
The ladies finished their tea and stood to
stretch their legs. They walked out of the house
onto the front porch to see what was happening
outside. Tlang and Wong Li were playing something
down at the bottom of the steps that led up to the
front porch.
"Have you had any more difficulty with that
man who thought he wanted the house?" Mae
remembered the man and inquired of Shing Li.
"No. He has been most hospitable since you had
that talk with him. He no longer is a bully in
town either. It seems he has changed his ways."
"That's good. A person like that can really
upset a town and keep the people from living in a
loving and friendly way. All it takes is one to
change the whole personality of a town. Too bad."
Psong came out of the house with Tsung riding
on her hip. She came over to the ladies as they
were looking out onto the vista that was filled
with rice paddies for nearly as far as the eye
could see. There were the tall hills and cliffs
off to their right and the town was nestled in
close to the cliffs. To their left was the road on
which Mae and Susan had met Shing Li. It led into
jungle growth and beyond. The plains in front of
them were long and flat The rice paddies had been
built up over the years by putting up banks all
around an area, to hold in the water, and to serve
as walkways between paddies.
The towns people somehow knew what paddies
belonged to whom and each worked their own. Water
was moved into each paddie from the irrigation
system they had established from the stream that
ran under the cliffs on the far edge of town. The
community had fashioned a water wheel that brought
water from the stream and dumped it into a trough
that had a downward slope toward the fields. From
there the earth itself was used as the waterway,
and by opening a hole in the bank of one of the
paddies they would let in the water they needed.
Then they simply closed the hole and the water
would continue on until it reached another
diversion into a paddie.
In this way the water was used by all, shared
by all, and so long as the rains and snows kept
the stream full the towns people would have all
the water they needed.
Mae was enamoured by the life in this village.
She could already sense a change in overall
attitude. The last time she was here there was a
distrust of her and Susan. Now there was an
acceptance and a relaxation of tension amongst
each of the villagers. It came about because the
antagonist was no longer an antagonist. Without
that, the village was allowed to relax and live as
each wanted. They chose peace, love, cooperation
and togetherness.

TODAY'S REPORT:
I went into work overload yesterday and rushed to complete
the formatting of thePEBBLE. As well I helped Mom with
some job jar stuff. All in all it was a wonderful day. The
temperature was up the gold green and blues of
Indian Summer were out in all their glory. It was just
one of those days you remember for a long while.

Transylvania. As they are stopped at a traffic light, out
of nowhere, a small vampire jumps onto the hood of the
car and hisses at them through the windshield.
"Quick, quick!" shouts Sister Mary Agnes, "What
should we do?"
"Turn the windshield wipers on. That will get rid of
the abomination," says Sister Mary Vincent.
Sister Mary Agnes switches on the wipers, which knock
the mini-Dracula around. But, he hangs on and continues
hissing at the nuns. "What shall I do now?" she shouts.
"Try the windshield washer. I filled it with holy water
before we left the Vatican," replies Sister Mary Vincent.
Sister Mary Agnes turns on the windshield washer.
The vampire screams as the water burns his skin, but
he hangs on and continues hissing at the nuns.
"Now what?" shouts Sister Mary Agnes.
"Show him your cross," says Sister Mary Vincent.
"Now you're talking," says Sister Mary Agnes. She
then opens the window and shouts,
"Get the heck off our car!"
