Why does Queen Elizabeth sign official documents "Elizabeth
R."?
Is it true that diamonds are indestructible?
--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------
How did the British royal family ever get a German surname
in the first place?
The German name came about as a result of Queen Victoria's
marriage to Prince Albert, son of Duke Ernst I of
Saxe-Coburg-Gotha. The German name actually only applied to
all male descendants of Queen Victoria and did not apply to
Queen Victoria herself.
Could a future monarch again change the royal name?
Sure. Any future monarch could elect to change the name
again. After all, that's what being a monarch is all about.

OPTIMIZE LIFE NOW!

Daily Opportunities!
Every day you have the opportunity to do things differently.
Every day you have the opportunity to change and grow. You
can find comfort in knowing that you can reorient yourself
in the direction of you goals instantly by reading them and
recommitting, sometimes more than once a day! No matter
what you did yesterday, you can choose again today. Are you
using that opportunity?
For some folks, a pattern exists--that of continually
"beating themselves up" for mistakes from the past. You
know, the "I-should-have-known-better",
"I-should-have-seen-it-coming" variety of self-talk. That
kind of talk is only useful once or twice in any situation,
and it only has value at all if it is used to determine what
could have been done differently and to learn from the
experience. Some folks make a life work of beating
themselves up for past mistakes, or missed opportunities.
In fact, some people in some cultures focus entirely on the
wrongs done to them generations before and generate anger
that prevents them from seeing clearly in the present
moment. Energy use is a choice, too.
Knowing both the direction in which you wish your life to
go, and how you would like to feel on the journey, gives you
the information necessary for drawing your personal map. It
is your choice what you take on this trip, which path you
will follow and when you would like to reach your
destination. It is your journey, and, therefore, your
choice. Sure, you may find some bridges washed out and have
to find alternative pathways. You may find unexpected
jungles that slow you down, however, remembering where you
are headed rather than bemoaning what you left behind, will
always move you forward.
For today, read your goals. (If you do not have any written
goals, commit to writing one in each of four categories,
today--physical, intellectual, social/emotional and
spiritual.) Take one step, large or small, in the direction
of at least one goal before you sleep tonight. Just before
you drift off to sleep, review your day and acknowledge
yourself for the steps you have taken and make a plan for
tomorrow.

What Is Health? What Is Wellness?
Some Concepts To Consider
PART 1 of 5
Health and Wellness: our fantasy and our strong desire. But do
you know what is to be healthy? To be well? How do you practice
being "well"? These ideas include a practical definition of
health and wellness, basic knowledge of what your body needs and
a short biology lesson. Also the prevention of degenerative
diseases is touched on and the possible need for nutritional
supplementation is reviewed.
Health is defined as the state of mental, physical, and social
wellbeing. It is the absence of disease or other abnormal
conditions. It is NOT a "static" condition, meaning you fix it
once and it always stays that way. "Health" is in constant
change. It adapts to stress, in order to maintain homeostasis.
The Medical Dictionary defines it as the condition of an
organism (human) or one of its parts (different organs and
systems) in which it performs its vital functions normally or
properly. It is the state of being "sound" in body or mind,
especially, in being free from physical disease and pain. This
also includes dental health and mental health. It also means the
condition of an organism (human) with respect to the performance
of its vital functions when someone asks "how are you today".
The definition of homeostasis is "the maintenance of relatively
stable internal physiological conditions (as body temperature or
the pH of blood) in higher animals (us humans) under fluctuating
environmental conditions". But what does all really mean to you
in your life? It means that your body is often in different
environments and has different needs to be fulfilled. So you
won't be able to rely on one way of living for your entire life.
Sad, but true...but then you aren't going to have the same job
every day for life either. It means that you need to learn how
your body functions: what makes it "happy" and what causes it
grief. Once you can figure that out, and know it will change,
you are well on the way to achieving health and wellness.
If you don't think you've achieved your optimum health level
yet, how will you recognize it when it happens? Here are some
concepts that have helped others achieve healthier lives. You
might want to use those ideas to reach and maintain your own
optimum lifestyle. These concepts are all backed by current
mainstream research. The information is trustworthy and is easy
to understand. Health & wellness are certainly within the reach
of anyone who really wants to achieve them.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET
<><><><>
THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .
----------------
When he had concluded and was about to sit
down there was a sudden light within the church.
From out of the light came Sam, once more. "Over
this last month you have all had time to consider
what I told you. Yet each of you has tried to be
with a woman. Each has attempted to break his
celibacy vows. None has learned to serve the
people, each has instead concerned yourselves with
getting more money. The harder you push in that
direction the further away from your goal you
become. Learn the laws Jesus spoke unto you. Go
deep within yourselves to meet your Maker. Only by
doing this will you solve the problem of earning
your keep. You must give to the people the
meaningful teachings of Jesus. You can no longer
speak about Jesus without also teaching what he
taught. Only by doing this will you change present
condition. It is a matter of your choice."
With that Sam backed off and disappeared to
the group. He did stick around, though, to see the
reaction of those present.
There was instant murmuring and talking going
on. What was this? What was the idea that was
spoken by this man?
The church was abuzz. The cardinal stood and
raised his hands. The group silenced. "This is the
second time in a month we have witnessed an
apparition. Who among you can prove it happened?
who among you can say what really happened. We
must continue to search out the answer to our
problem or we will fail."
The buzz in the church was continuous. The
priests felt the cardinal was out of touch. They
were banding together and discussing what was said
by this man in the light. They were now ignoring
the cardinal.
Enough was enough. The cardinal stood and and
once more spoke. "Have you not heard me? Enough of
this murmuring behind my back. You are instructed
to leave this meeting, return to your parishes and
get to the business of solving our problem.
Dismissed."
The priests were incredulous. How could this
man speak like that in view of what had just
happened? Did he not hear what the instruction
was? Did he not hear that to follow that
instruction would solve the problem? Ahh! But that
was not church doctrine. It was not the business
of the church to teach what Jesus taught. It was
the business of the church to control the people.
The priests left confused. Sam had really hit
home this time. They young idealists amongst them
were also a bit rebellious.
The cardinal was aware there was going to be
some trouble amongst his ranks. That is why he
wanted to separate them, so they could not join
forces against him.
Fortunately he had within his office enough
men to serve as emissaries. He would send these
men out to the parishes manned by these young
idealists to ensure their continued loyalty to
church doctrine. He would keep them under control.
This was not the first time something like this
happened. He knew how to keep them in line.
The cardinal was an expert at threats that
would produce both guilt and fear. He would have
them defrocked for not following the dictates of
Rome. Moreover he would at least have them
reported so their future within the church would
amount to nothing. If any of them wanted to move
up they would do as he said, or else.
He knew very well how to handle a bunch of
rowdies within the church. It was this power that
was withholding the money that he had trouble
with. It was time now for his regular remittance
to Rome. He would be able to make it but he was
not so sure about the next quarterly report and
submission.
What the cardinal did not know was that some
of his older priests, not the idealists, were also
dismayed with his response to the situation. They
knew in their heart of hearts the words Sam
uttered were true. They well knew from years of
experience that the church in which they were
priests was not serving the people with truth.
They knew the church was after control. Thoughts
of change were now going through their minds.
The next two weeks went by fast for those in
the field but exceedingly slow for the cardinal.
There was no revenue at all from the sites
surrounding the shrine. He received the reports
"The people walk right past us as if they do not
even see us. Not one even acknowledges our
presence."
The news confounded the cardinal. He simply
could not understand what was happening. He called
for a nun to attend upon him. This time he wanted
a different one than the last. He had already
spoken to the Reverend Mother and plans were
underway to have the first one transferred to an
outpost someplace.

WHY DO WE SAY IT?
Paddle Your Own Canoe: Where does the expression "paddle
your own canoe" come from?
The phrase was first used in a poem published in "Harper's
Magazine" for May 1854. "Leave to Heaven, in humble trust,
All you will to do But is you would succeed you must Paddle
your own canoe."
Tomorrow: Quack: Why is a medical charlatan pretending to be a
physician called a "quack"?
