What animal is the largest land animal?
The elephant. Rhinos are second and hippos rank third.
How much does a hippo weigh?
A hippo can weigh more than 4,000 pounds! They can measure
five feet tall and twelve feet long. Despite their large
size, however, hippos can actually outrun humans. Recent DNA
evidence suggests that hippos may be related to whales.

When You Mean It - It Works!
Three preachers sat discussing the best positions for
prayer while a telephone repairman worked nearby.
"Kneeling is definitely best," claimed one.
"No," another contended. "I get the best results
standing with my hands outstretched to Heaven."
"You're both wrong," the third insisted. "The most
effective prayer position is lying prostrate, face down
on the floor."
The repairman could contain himself no longer. "Hey,
fellas, " he interrupted, "the best prayin' I ever did
was hangin' upside down from a telephone pole."
You know, he's right. It isn't the physical position
you are in but the mental/emotional position you are in
that counts.
So much prayer is just noise because the heart is not
where the mouth is and neither is tuned in to the mind
or your Maker.
Our Maker lives in all of us, in fact in all things. It
is only when we understand that and learn to
communicate with our Maker deep inside ourselves that
prayer become valid.
Oh! We could want many things, even for others. We can
be on bended knee, prostrate, humble as is possible but
if we haven't learned to use the phone the message
doesn't get through.
It is unfortunate that our churches seem proficient at
telling us what to do but lacking in showing us how.
Even when they try to show us they deal with the
superficial and not the meat of the subject.
Prayer, after all is said and done, is communication
with God or your Maker by whatever name you use. Just
like learning how to use the phone, or a fax, or a
computer, if you don't know how to use the tools, if
you don't know how to do it then how is it possible for
your message to get through.
I know there are some who say your Maker knows all -
true. I know there are some who say your Maker knows
your heart - true. I know there are some who say your
Maker knows your needs before you even speak them -
true. But do you know what your Maker says when you
speak or do you speak so much you don't take time to
listen?
We are taught, everywhere, except in prayer that
communication is a two way process. Oh! We can say a
prayer, that's easy. Listening, the other half of the
conversation is where it's at. Who knows how to listen?
As children we are taught to kneel by our bed, say a
prayer that cutely asks God to bless Mommy and Daddy
and my pet goldfish. However once that is said we are
quickly picked up and put into bed as if that is the
end of the process.
I won't say anything about our Maker's reaction to such
a process, but place yourself in that position. When
someone comes to you only asking for things and before
you have a chance to open your mouth they turn and
leave - how would or do you react? When that someone
does it daily, consistently how long do you tolerate
it, or pay attention to it?
When You Mean It - It Works!

A&P Anatomy And Physiology
PART 2 of 11
The Make Up Of Your Body And How It Functions
I love the idea how police are trained to detect counterfeit
money. They are taught to recognize it by spending the vast
majority of their time seeing and feeling the legal bills.
Once they become familiar with the good ones, they are
innocently introduced to the counterfeit bills. These are
now easy to spot. The student is now confidently recognizing
the real ones and the fake ones stand out. Why is this
important? How can you fix something if you don't know what
it looks like or how it is supposed to function?
Learn the truth about your body. What it's all about
(anatomy). How it's meant to function (physiology). Once you
put this information together, it will then be much easier
to recognize "ill" or negative effects. Your corrective
action will present itself. Be confident in its functions.
In the vast majority of people, the vital organs are of
similar size. They are definitely of similar actions or
behaviors. So consider yourself normal and learn to use this
information. It can make your life either very, very good or
very bad. The choice is yours and no one else's. So often we
blame others for our results. But in our bodies, the only
person who can possibly be responsible is each individual.
No one forces you to drink a super sugar-loaded drinks or
eat a scoop of high salt content fries. Someone may cajole
or shame you, but you do the swallowing. Let me encourage
you to at least become aware of this "distinction".

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

Sam Henry had kept his eyes and ears tuned to
the events in Matto Grosso. He knew what the
priest was planning. He also knew how to foil the
best laid plans of this man.
Sam sent a message unto the hearts of each of
the other two priests. He allowed them to
understand the plan and learn how the one planned
on getting rid of each of the others. That was all
Sam needed to do.
The priest that was left in charge while the
strong one went for his break simply did what the
other was planning. He sent a communique unto the
seminary to keep the priest in isolation and do
not let him return. The excuse was that he was ill
of mind and did not know it. If, within a year he
appeared to be better then we would see about
returning him to his office.
The communique was received and with the
official stamp of the cardinal's office it was
accepted as a formal instruction that was expected
to be carries out. That is what they did.
The priest had no idea what was going on until
it came time for him to leave. At least until it
came time when he thought he was going to leave.
When he found he was not allowed to leave he
became angry to the point of violence. He threw
chairs and furniture, banged doors, screamed,
hollered, all of which only went to convince his
keepers the communique was right.
The priest them became sullen. It suddenly
dawned on him what had happened. Here he had so
cleverly thought through his plan and it looked so
good on the surface. Yet the priest remaining at
the cardinal's office was a sly one, too. He must
have become suspicious and simply turned the
tables on this man. Angry as he was he sat down on
his bed knowing he was had. He also knew there
would be no way he could find a way out of here.
Utter, total, humiliating defeat. He was caught in
his own trap as unsuspecting as he expected the
others to be. He was mad.
Sam Henry smiled to himself. It is amazing how
the law works. The priest was getting what he was
giving out, and it angered him. He was too blind
to see that what goes around comes around.
When the emissary returned from his mission he
was surprised to see only the milder priest there.
Upon inquiry he learned that the stronger one had
suddenly taken ill and decided that a time in the
seminary was in order. He would be back in a
couple weeks. That seemed to satisfy the emissary,
and he gave his report.
It was as they had suspected. The young priest
out in the parish that was now sending in money,
had been teaching what Jesus said to teach. The
people were listening and responding. They liked to hear
what was being said. The young priest was
taking the sacraments out of the service. He had
even gone so far as to remove all statues or
statuettes of Jesus on the cross. There were no
more idols in his church.
The emissary reported that he left
instructions to return the church to what it was,
complete with all statuary and doctrine. He said
the young priest refused. He further reported that
they were at an impasse. The young priest refused
to do, any longer, what Rome wanted. The emissary
gave no plans for the solution of the problem.
The young priest had made his decision.
Regardless what Rome wanted he felt he now knew
the answers for which he had been searching all
these years. There was no turning back. The die
was cast.
The priest who had remained and who had
arranged for the holding of the stronger one in
isolation at the seminary, now suggested, "You
have had a long journey and must be tired. All of
us have had no rest since we started this affair.
Why don't you go up to the seminary for a weeks
rest. Upon your return I shall do the same.
He had caught the emissary quite unsuspecting.
He had no idea what had transpired in his absence.
He decided to go quite innocently and ignorant of
the intrigue that was being carried out right
under his nose. Little did he know that the moment
he put one foot inside that seminary he would be
lost to the world forever. So he went.
Two days after he left, the remaining priest
sent instructions for him to be held as well. It
was the same kind of communique as before.
Now the schemer had complete control of all
the cardinal's affairs. He was the one who met
with government officials. He was the one
communicating with Rome. He was the one who handled
the money. He was king.
When next months reports came in there was no
money from the one parish that had been sending
money. There was no money from anywhere else
either. He was getting worried. He knew they had
plenty money in the bank and he would be able to
do what he wanted, but he was unable to send any
to Rome. He knew that now, the third quarter where
this kind of report was sent to Rome, that
questions would be asked.

WHY DO WE SAY IT?
Vamp: Why are seductive women and firemen both called
"vamps"?
A seductive woman is called a "vamp" in allusion to the
"vampire" of folk lore - ghostly being that supposedly
sucked the blood of living persons. A fireman is called a
"vamp" because at one time in england "vamp" meant "to
tramp" or "walk" - and the volunteer firemen generally went
to the fires on foot.
Tomorrow: Wac: How die the "Wacs" come to be called that?

HA! HA! HA!
Sitting behind a couple of nuns at the football game, three
men decided to badger the nuns in an effort, to get them to
move. In a very loud voice, the first guy said, "I think I'm
going to move to Utah, there are only 100 Catholics living
there..."
The second guy spoke up and said, "I want to go to Montana,
there are only 50 Catholics living there..."
The third guy spoke up and said, "I want to go to Idaho,
there are only 25 Catholics living there..."
One of the nuns turned around, and looked at the men, and
calmly said, "Why don't you go to hell, there aren't any
Catholics there."
