TODAY'S TRIVIA - - -
-----------------------

Why are people in our century so much taller than in the
past?

What US Congressman became the first US defendant to claim
"temporary insanity" in a criminal trial?

--------------
ANSWERS TO YESTERDAY'S TRIVIA - - - -
--------------

I heard Napoleon was only five feet two inches tall. Did he
lie about his height?

Nope. It's simply a mistake in measurement. Napoleon was
measured during his autopsy and his height was reported as
five feet two inches.  But the measurement was done in
French feet and not converted to English measurement. He was
actually four and a half inches taller.

Do people really shrink as they grow older?

Yes, people shrink as they age, but it doesn't amount to
much, just a few centimeters on average. The loss of height
is due in part to your bones pressing more closely together.
Osteoporosis, of course, causes additional shrinkage.

Sow The Seeds Of Love!

A stingy old lawyer who had been diagnosed with a
terminal illness was determined to prove wrong the
saying, "You can't take it with you."

After much thought and consideration, the old ambulance
chaser finally figured out how to take at least some of
his money with him when he died. He instructed his wife
to go to the bank and withdraw enough money to fill two
pillowcases. He then directed her to take the bags of
money to the attic and leave them directly above his
bed. His plan: When he passed away, he would reach out
and grab the bags on his way to Heaven.

Several weeks after the funeral, the deceased lawyer's
wife, up in the attic cleaning came upon the two
forgotten pillowcases stuffed with cash. "Oh, that old
fool," she exclaimed. "I knew he should have had me put
the money in the basement."

Funny isn't it how greed and avarice can run our lives?
The joke may be funny yet it contains a scary glimpse
at the truth.

Somehow it never occurs to us that as we progress
through life our pursuit of the dollar soon hardens
into an attitude that cannot be removed. It puts a
"case" around us that is as hard as the shell on a
walnut and many of our loved ones feel left outside.

Oh! You may be generous and share your wealth, but do
you share you?

That is the real question isn't it? It is impossible to
have a happy life unless you share or are giving to
someone. Sharing wealth may be gratifying but sharing
you brings love, caring, peace. It is the ultimate in
good fortune.

I know the need for having an income, unless, of
course, you are living by higher law. So I know what
each of us must go through. This article is not against
earning an income, it is against the harboring of greed
and avarice, the attitudes.

In your pursuit of income keep love of your fellow man
at the top of the attitude scale and practice that
attitude in your dealings. That way you can die with
money and friends. Near that time of your life it is
the "and friends" that is important. Yet the seeds for
that are sown now, not then.

MEDICAL COLUMN - - - -
by Karin Henderson

A&P Anatomy And Physiology
PART 6 of 11
The Make Up Of Your Body And How It Functions

Let’s move to the functions of this living person. Don't
ever let anymore tell you that if you have a problem in one
area of your body that it doesn't really affect another
part. It does. The body is an incredible machine and
everything is inter-connected and inter-related. And its
response is very fast. No action is too small for it not to
make a difference or have an effect. And that also shows the
body's incredible adjusting power. Most times you won't even
know something is being adjusted to make another part work
better or keep up.

Since nothing with nature happens in a vacuum, it has to do
something. This is the physiology of the living organism. It
is designed to act a certain way. On its own, one cell is
virtually useless. Together, with millions of identical
cells, it now produces activities or behaviors that are
measurable. Again, the truth is that you can function
perfectly if your cells are anatomically perfect. Everything
they need to survive and do their job is present. Conversely
in "unhealth" or the presence of dis-ease, the cell is not
anatomically correct and subsequently cannot function as
designed.

It's like your vacuum cleaner. Take away one of its parts
and either it won't work at all or will do a poor job. And
if you don't remove the soil that has plugged it or fixed
the parts that don't work, it won't do the job. It's still
considered a vacuum, but it's pretty useless.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby

--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts

The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.

As you read enjoy. It continues . . . . . . .

The insurrection was over. The leader who had
planned it all spent the rest of his life in fear.
He anticipated some would come looking for him. He
was subject to believing others would like to do
to him what he had done to others. Funny how his
fears had him realize the law without him
realizing the law. He knew others might come for
him because he expected everyone else to be like
him. Yet he did not see that as a realization of a
law of truth. His fear kept him from it.

So, too, with most men. Being involved with
things, mankind rarely shows insight gleaned from
that experience, in a global sense. They see only
what is in front of their eyes and not the entire
scene from a global perspective.

Men, who take time to think, can frequently
come up with wisdom gleaned from experience, yet
few there are who see the laws behind things.
Fewer yet see the truth Jesus taught. It is but
for man to see. It is available to all. You need
only stop long enough to see, then it can be
yours.

Sam was relaying the story to Mombudo while
they were seated around the evening fire in front
of Mombudo's hut. Alewka, Kenyata, Sonora and
Hemno were there.

"Man, being cast from the Garden into gross
matter must continually struggle to find his way
back to truth. Few there are who know it is in
giving one finds the path. Those who take have but
a fleeting time with what they think is life. They
have the material goods or the power or fame but
they have not life and it then is a burden to
them. Only the wise know life comes by giving."

"Is that what these men were after, Sam,
material goods, power, fame?"

"Yes, Mombudo. They led their followers into
thinking they were idealists, wanting the
government of the people, by the people, for the
people, but once in a position they would seize
power and become dictators as is the present
government."

"Why, Sam, could the people not see?"

"Hemno, people see what they want to see.
These men came into their midst brandishing
weapons. The people saw what they were told to see
and foolishly went along with it based on the fear
they would be shot. That is why I had to disable
every weapon for miles. Without weapons these men
had no control over the people. Once that was lost
the people could see for themselves what kind of
men they were."

"So, even in the depths of Africa people live
their lives by fear. Some say that is true in your
country too."

"That's right, Hemno, only in North America it
is more subtle. People are afraid they will not
have enough money. They are afraid they will be
sent away from their group. They are afraid to
lose position or material goods. They say they all
want 'the good life'. In pursuit of those things
they miss life altogether. The government, of
course, has complete control over the people. They
need only implement a few policies to keep men and
women so busy trying to eek out a living that
there is never any fear of an insurrection. Those
who try are soon put down, with the news media
showing so clearly how they were trying to go
against the system. It is all a big game for men
in my country. Those in leadership know very well
how to maintain control. Then there is the church
which seems to have adopted the concept it is
their job to keep men and women working. It does
two things. It keeps men from thinking and it
keeps money coming into the church."

"Are all churches like that, Sam?"

"Yes, Sonora. In one form or another all
churches for all faiths have pretty much the same
concept and doctrine. The point is to control the
people and keep the money flowing. You see it all
over the world. None are different. Of course, if
one truly follows Jesus you don't need a church,
do you? Your body is the temple in which your
Maker lives and the universe is sacred to you in
all its parts."

"That is true, but what about other faiths?
They approach the subject of God much different
than the Christian faith."

"Sure they do, Hemno. Yet control of the
people is the basic underlying purpose. None are
void of this purpose. They choose not to teach the
lessons of Jesus or the ancestors within their own
faiths. To do so would take the people away from
the church and they would lose control and money.
None will risk that."

"They follow, like sheep. Do the people not
see?"

"No Hemno. They don't want to see. The church
has them believing they will be guilty of sin if
they do other than their faith tells them. They
all wrongly presume they will go to a place called
Hell, upon death, if they fail to do what their
faith advises."

HA! HA! HA!

President Calvin Coolidge, 30th U.S. president (1923 to
1929) was a man of very few words. One Sunday he went to
church, but his wife, Grace, stayed home. When he returned,
she asked, "Was the sermon good?"

"Yup," was Coolidge's brief reply.

"What was it about?" Grace asked.

"Sin."

"And what did the minister say?"

"He's against it...!"
