What is the difference between "morbidity" and "mortality"?
Morbidity has to do with illness or disease. Mortality has
to do with being mortal or with death. Some people confuse
morbidity with mortality and think both have to do with
death. This may be association of the word "morbidity" with
"morbid," which means gruesome or grisly, but is often used
to describe the details of death.
What is the difference between "connote" and "denote"?
"Denote" refers to the dictionary definition of a word, its
literal, explicit meaning. "Connote" refers to the nuances,
overtones, and implicit meanings of a word used in context.
For example, the word "hearth" denotes the physical area
around a fireplace, but it connotes warmth and security.

EBay Calls On Skype For Growth
by Gavin O'Malley,
AUCTIONEER EBAY said it would buy the Web
telephony start-up Skype for between $2.6 billion and $4.1
billion, with the exact price depending on whether Skype
meets performance targets over several years. Skype is a
leading player in the voice-over-Internet market--which,
with its lucrative pay-per-call implications, has already
attracted America Online, Yahoo!, Google, and Microsoft.
In two years, the Luxembourg-based Skype has attracted 54
million members worldwide, who use the service to talk for
free to other Skype users via computer. The charges kick in
when Skype users make calls to--or receive calls
from--regular phone numbers. The company expects revenues of
$60 million this year and more than $200 million in 2006,
but isn't currently profitable.
Online traffic to Skype has increased significantly in the
United States since last year--from 385,000 unique users in
July 2004 to 1,490,000 this July, according to comScore
Media Metrix.
EBay said the deal will give its estimated 150 million
merchants the ability to make, for example, last-minute
sales questions with a "click to talk" function, and thus
stimulate trade.
Meg Whitman, eBay's CEO, said on a conference call Monday
that eBay, Paypal, and Skype should amount to an
"unparalleled e-commerce and communications engine."
Some analysts, however, said the estimated acquisition costs
appeared high.
"I'd hate to second guess a company with the proven track
record of eBay, but they're going to have to be extremely
creative to make this deal worth their while," Jupiter
Research analyst Joe Laszlo said.
Laszlo floated the possibility that eBay envisions live
auctions, with multiple bidders on the phone at the same
time.
Ian Fogg, Jupiter Research's VoIP analyst in Europe, said
simply that eBay could not be buying Skype for its current
revenues, which he pegged at $7 million in 2004. He
speculated that eBay might want to use Skype's technology to
start a pay-per-call business. "Skype brings technology that
Ebay hopes will boost auction sales and generate a per-call
lead-based business," Fogg said.
Marc Barach, chief marketing officer at pay-per-call firm
Ingenio, indicated that the deal between eBay and Skype is a
sign that their nascent market is growing in legitimacy.
"Whether the method is VoIP or telephone, the thesis remains
the same--sellers will pay more for a phone lead than for a
click, and buyers are more confident purchasing from sellers
with whom they can speak live," he said.

Some Thoughts On Chelation Therapy
Learning About Possible
Metal Toxicity In Your Body
PART 1 of 11
I have had several discussions about chelation therapy
lately and it caused me to do more studying about the
subject. So what I am describing here are the questions for
which I sought answers while doing hours and hours of
research. These are very simple descriptions of my findings.
This is a very serious and important subject.
Please do not make any decisions lightly or alone. You have
to have qualified medical personnel to help you to
understand what might be happening to your body and how it
can be helped. Also you need to have a qualified health
practitioner to administer the chelating agent.
I want to share some of the questions I asked in order to
learn more. I wanted to know when chelation is routinely or
most commonly used. I want to know what it actually
consisted of. Because I had come across a few cases where
the outcome was completely negative, I wanted to understand
the risks and how to evaluate when you wouldnt want to do
it
ever! How does one know when to use it? What does it do?
I wanted to understand why it seemed to becoming a popular
treatment and what kinds of risks were involved. Were those
risks were ever perceived to be too high? In other words,
why would you even consider using this treatment. Near the
end of this article, I am adding some information about
mercury amalgam fillings. That is a metal, too and many of
us have no idea it could be causing all sorts of health
issues, including many symptoms you can think of.

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.

When it came time for them to leave for their
next destination they did not want to go. Miguele,
Abetta, Oomano and Romano all conspired to fill
the kids with love.
But time to leave it was so they said their
good byes and were off to their next destination.
For those who travelled to Pinehill to stay at
the Henry's it was quite a treat. Many of these
kids had seen big cities, cars, busses, trucks and
the like. Yet here everything was so orderly.
There was the absence of honking horns and even
when it was crowded people seemed to follow the
street lights and the system. At home they were
used to people, bikes, cars and trucks all going
in a zillion directions and not all followed the
traffic rules. As in India green lights meant go
and too many times red lights meant - go faster.
How there were not more accidents and death on the
roads back home was amazing. Here everything
appeared to be so neat, orderly, clean,
systematic.
The kids were made welcome by the welcoming
committee of the Sparks, the Strikers and the
Whites. There was nothing the kids did not see or
do. Their hosts made certain of it. Every second
was filled with minutes worth of learning and
activity. Again it was overwhelming.
In fact this entire program was so successful
and so wonderful for everyone involved that when
this program was over the adults all planned to go
down to Matto Grosso and do the same for the kids
at the orphanage at the shrine and for the kids
over at Oomano's and Romano's.
Sam's idea had grown into a major event for
all concerned. It proved to be a fantastic idea
that was a win win situation all around. He was
happy for the kids.
Upon their return home there was again the
excited, enthusiastic welcome shared by all. Now
only twenty or so kids had not been anywhere and
it was their turn to pick.
Again it was two weeks before they could sort
all that out. Each knew where they wanted to go.
They each were willing to visit only two
destinations, although to hear the kids tell it
they really wanted to go to all of them.
Off they went. Upon their return eight days
later there was once again the highly active
welcome and sharing of experiences.
All in all the trip program took two months to
complete. Yet it would live in the hearts and
minds of the children for the rest of their lives.
They didn't know it but that was the beginning of
such activity.
The places they travelled also had orphanages
who wanted to do the same, so these kids would
have their chance to play host. It proved to be a
sharing program that enriched the lives of all who
participated. None were exempt.
It seemed to Sam and Alewka it was time to
move on. Their entire family had been involved in
this traveling business. Even Tim and Sharon got
into it and now, as between orphanages there
appeared to be constant movement with visitors
coming and going.
This trip thing was almost a renewal of life
for the orphanages and took the sameness out of
their days. It enriched the kids lives as well as
the lives of the supervising adults. The children
grew and waxed strong, developing an uncanny
tolerance for others and learning higher law at
each step.
It brought enthusiasm and zest into lives
that were otherwise pretty much the same from day
to day. The children themselves ended up being
teachers, to each other and to newcomers who
wandered into the orphanages.
Sam and Alewka decided to head for a visit to
Eloise's and Mazunta's on the Amazon river. They
wanted some time with their grandchildren and to
rest in paradise.
Mae and Susan were both there and had been
willing hosts to the travel plan when the kids had
arrived. They had the opportunity to meet with Tom
and Tlang for a couple visits. They both loved
that for Tlang was clearly someone in whom they
had taken a personal interest. She was a lovely
girl who had grown up 10 years in the space of a
half year. She was radiant with the love she held
for Tom and her education was progressing so
rapidly she had matured years in only months.
Mae and Susan were both so proud of her their
hearts were nearly bursting out of their chests.
The village, too, got wholly into the plan.
The village kids had enormous fun with the
newcomers, the villagers too had fun. They put on
special fires at night for all the youngsters and
held special ceremonies. As was the way with this
village, they wound their way into the hearts of
each child and none of the children ever wanted to
leave.

HA! HA! HA!
After spending three and a half hours enduring the long lines,
surly clerks, and insane regulations at the Department of
Motor Vehicles, I stopped at a toy store to pick up a gift
for my son.
I brought my selection - a baseball bat - to the cash register.
"Cash or charge?" the clerk asked.
"Cash," I snapped. Then, apologizing for my rudeness, I
explained, "I'm terribly sorry... You see, I've spent the
afternoon at the motor-vehicle bureau."
"Shall I gift wrap the bat?" the clerk asked sweetly, "or are
you going back there now...??"
