What kinds of fish are called sardines?
There are more than twenty different small fish sold as
sardines - everything from small herring to pilchards and
anchovies.
Does anybody actually eat sardines?
Not too many. Sardines were once pretty popular as an
inexpensive protein meal during the Depression. But after
World War II, sales dropped and have remained low.

Here's To Think On ...

------------------------------------
Your Actions Speak So Loudly!
A defendant was on trial for murder. There was strong
evidence indicating guilt, but there was no corpse. In the
defense's closing statement the lawyer, knowing that his
client would probably be convicted, decided to try a trick:
"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I have a surprise for you
all," the lawyer said as he looked at his watch. "Within one
minute, the person presumed dead in this case will walk into
this courtroom!"
He looked toward the courtroom door. The jurors, somewhat
stunned, all looked, eagerly. A minute passed. Nothing
happened.
Finally, the lawyer said, "Actually, I made up the previous
statement. But you all looked on with anticipation. I
therefore put it to you that there is reasonable doubt in
this case as to whether anyone was killed and insist that
you return a verdict of not guilty." With that, the jury
retired to deliberate. But after only a few minutes, they
came back and pronounced a verdict of guilty.
"But how?" the lawyer asked. "You must have had some doubt,
I saw all of you stare at the door."
"Oh, yes," the jury foreman replied: "We all looked -- but
your client didn't!"
Ralph Waldo Emerson, among many other things, made the
statement "Your actions speak so loudly, that what you say
to the contrary I cannot hear."
The above joke is a rather dramatic demonstration of that
truth.
How many of us offer "pretend to care" statements but have
no carry through action?
This statement has given me a point of view that permits me
to know a lot about the people I talk with. I am frequently
amazed at how little folks know about what they are doing.
It is not hard at all to find those that say one thing only
to have their body language or actions say different things
all together.
There are two sides to this coin of which we should be
aware. The first, of course, is our own behavior. Every day,
in every way, we should endeavor to make our actions
consistent with our words. And don't forget the small
things.
A number of years ago I had the occasion to be dealing with
some Arabs. They all wore sunglasses, inside. Upon asking
why, I was advised they did not want their true feelings to
be seen by the person with whom they were negotiating. The
eyes will reveal even the slightest surprise, glee,
satisfaction and other reactions that one's psyche gives out
just by habit. These Arabs did not want anyone to see that
during negotiations. They were very well aware that their
actions, the eyes, speak more loudly than their words.
The second aspect of this topic is that one can use this
statement of Emerson's as a yardstick by which to take the
measure of the person with whom you are dealing. Careful
watching can show you who it is. In internet marketing it
shows through in things like consistency, delivering more
than folks pay for, and being of help to others.
As an ezine publisher we go through the same trials and
tribulations other ezine owners face. We always get
subscribers who give an email address that doesn't exist,
thinking they are clever and avoid mail they don't think
they want. We always get subscribers who place classified
ads whose mailboxes will not receive mail because they are
too full. Imagine that, someone trying to start a business,
wanting to sell stuff and their mailbox is so full they
cannot receive their orders or inquiries.
Another thing interesting is the person who thinks they are
clever by sending out what is known as "email receipts".
That is that for every email they receive they send out an
email that says "I got it and I might read it sometime." It
is truly a childish behavior, but it strokes their ego, not
their business, just the ego.
Take stock, today. What are your actions saying to your
loved ones? Your friends? Your customers? Do your actions
and body language support your words? Or do they say
something all together different?
Your Actions Speak So Loudly!

Some Thoughts On Chelation Therapy
Learning About Possible
Metal Toxicity In Your Body
PART 7 of 11
People using chelation have had severe reactions in which
they have stopped breathing. Death has been reported,
although it is not clear if chelation therapy was the direct
cause. It has become very obvious that you should avoid
chelation therapy if you have heart, kidney or liver disease
or any condition affecting blood cells or the immune system.
Chelation should be avoided in pregnant or breast-feeding
women and in children. Chelation may not be safe for
anybody. Weigh the risks and possible benefits very, very
carefully.
Faculty of the Harvard Medical School has another really
good write up at this link. I would encourage you to visit
their site. First read their caution and their summary. I
would urge you to use this same caution in all your research
until you feel comfortable with your knowledge.

358746.html?d=dmtContent It states: Before engaging in any
complementary medical technique, you should be aware that
many of these techniques have not been evaluated in
scientific studies. Often, only limited information is
available about their safety and effectiveness. Each state
and each discipline has its own rules about whether
practitioners are required to be professionally licensed. If
you plan to visit a practitioner, it is recommended that you
choose one who is licensed by a recognized national
organization and who abides by the organization's standards.
It is always best to speak with your primary health care
provider before starting any new therapeutic technique.

THE NET'S BEST KEPT SECRET

THE SAGA OF PINEHILL
by Ken Darby
--------------------------------------
Eloise Henry, age 18 when the story began
and David Wylie, age 20, were selected by a
stranger in town to take a dangerous trip,
together. The idea was that each was to take
only the clothes on their back and go
anywhere in the world where the stranger
took them. They were to be left there to find
their own way home. They had no money,
no identification, and no idea where they
were. If they arrived back home, there
would be a million dollars waiting in each
of their bank accounts
The story deals with their adventures along
and leads to the only way they could survive.
The story leads to many friends, many adventures
and many places.
The Saga Of Pinehill, The Adventure
is now in bookstores. A controversial and powerful story.
It will change your life. Go to

While the buzz around the fire this night was
about the fun had earlier that day, it was clear
that fun had worn everyone out. The drummers kept
the evening at a pretty steady, almost trance
inducing pace.
There was no dancing, no speech making, no
formal story telling. Yet there was love, warmth,
relaxation.
Sam was speaking with Ben Striker, speaking
past over Alewka, Helen, and the two
grandchildren. As usual the kids were listening
with open ears and minds. They held a very high
regard for these adults and in nearly all they did
they emulated those around them.
It was at places and times like these they
learned to be who they were. They were especially
proud of Grandpa.
"I love these fires at night, Ben. When I'm
away from here, I miss them. It is a wonderful way
for the people to practice love, tolerance and
respect for each other. It holds the community
together, and look, I don't see anyone practicing
one-upsmanship. They are sharing without trying to
beat one another or be better than one another. I
like that."
"It's no wonder Eloise decided to come back
here to live, Sam. This is almost the utopia all
men look for. Yet each must find that within
himself, not outside himself."
"True, if man would only realize that the
world would be a considerably better place in
which man could live. With greed and avarice
taking priority in man's world it is difficult for
man to see the real and the simple. He misses life
altogether because he wants more, more, more and
lately it seems he wants it now, now, now."
"The increasing pace of technology does that,
Sam. We all know that but what kind of a future is
ahead for people with that kind of attitude?"
"Well, Ben, I think it bodes well for living
by higher law. When man gets into a frantic pace
he begins to see his church is not giving him the
peace and security he needs. He starts to see that
life is other than material goods for there is
that gnawing within his breast that there must be
something more. He can have all the toys he wants
and still he is missing that something that keeps
him searching. Sooner or later he must learn to go
inside to find the peace and contentment he is
after. Then only will he find peace, that is to
say if he can keep away from all the tarot card
readers, psychics and the like. I see even on
television they are getting into programs that
play up the psychics and what they call the
paranormal. All sorts of traps will be set for man
and he will follow them until he begins to realize
there is only one thing he must do, go inside to
meet his Maker. When he does that successfully all
else falls into place."
"I think this next millennium will bring about
many changes to folks living by spiritual lives.
They will learn and see the lessons taught so long
ago by the ancients are all true. They will see
they have taken a 3000 year detour into the world
of material goods, greed and avarice. These
lessons will gradually come when man goes through
disaster after disaster. The church will not be
able to hold them. They will see and they will
then gravitate toward higher law. Man will learn
to look across the veil of simplicity into a world
of plenty. He will find peace within himself and
then he will want more of it. Eventually he will
get back to his Maker."
"I think you are right, Ben. These folks here
are clearly on the right path. Loving and caring
for their fellow man is more to them than material
goods. These kids have a real good grounding in
that kind of philosophy." Sam place his hand on
young Sammy's head and messed with his hair.
"Yet the old of each generation will not
learn. It will take the youth as they come up and
look at new and different ideas. That's okay but
that is the way it will happen."
"I think you're right, Ben. The old have a
vested interest in all the material goods they
have accumulated. The young are idealistic and
search out ways to maintain that attitude while
the old try to teach them the ways of the material
world. The process will ever be slow because of
that continual conflict, but it will come."
"Grandpa, when you say material goods do you
mean all the cars, houses and things like that
back where you live?"
"Yes, Sammy. I was raised that way, and we
raised your Mother that way, too. If it were not
for that daring trip your Mother took as a youth,
where she had to learn higher law or she may not
have survived, I would not have learned higher
law. Today we are all doing what we can to help
mankind come to see the wisdom of living by higher
law and one day that will be your work, too."

HA! HA! HA!
Visiting our son during his freshman year, we were shocked
by the mess in his room: clothes, books, and rubbish lay
everywhere! Later, over dinner, we tried to touch on the
informal versus formal dress codes that life after college
might require.
Our son, however, shared his own firmly held dress code
guidelines:
1. informal: socks optional
2. semiformal: two socks required
3. formal: both socks must match!
